The Welcome Chinese in Tendring

Rice was good, however crispy chilli beef was horrible with watery sauce and no chilli, don't even get me started on the sweet and sour sauce, I was sour after paying £2.50 for a pot of flavourless orange water. This is the first and last time I will go.

Full of salt especially curry sauce

I have used this take away for many years and delivery has been good, but my last order was inedible due to the vast a mount of salt in the prawn chow mein, so today I thought that I would give them another chance, I explained my situation and asked that they do easy on the salt, why bother? they don't give a dam, my lips are still dry with the excessive amount used, is this salt masking a problem with the freshness of the dish?

Excellent food and plentiful portions at reasonable prices.

Just to let you know from the beginning, I start buying from them My, most of the order. I always order salt and pepper prawn and last 6 or 5 times give me a dirty prawn doesn’t clean it. Just when you start eating, you can see the dirty inside prawn

Great takeaway never had a conplaint food and portion size good too.

Chefs obviously smoking out back but person taking orders tried to blame it on someone stubbing a cigarette out the front. We’re not stupid. Revolting sounds of someone with a hacking productive cough also emanating from the kitchen really put us off. We both only took a couple of mouthfuls & found the food wasn’t the best so we ended up giving it to the dog. Positives were that the person taking the order spoke perfect English & they accept cards.

This is good for a Friday night Chinese. Its not high end but its OK.

Have been ordering delivery for years from Welcome. Last night I placed an order, told the amount, queried price as so much more than the web, they said they aren’t on the web but they’ll send a new price list. They then hung up. I was charged £15.40, yet prices on the new price list came to £12.70 - £2.70 overcharged. Chicken Chow Mein was minus the chicken. They are on the web, it even shows a picture of the place. Hence I could post this review. Disgusted.

Food come fast and hot special chowmein was some good the prawns was big aswell . Chicken balls are amazing . How ever the chicken curry was lacking flavor so only a 4 **** but will be ordering again

Gone down hill,just ordered our normal Chinese for home delivery,when arrived,missing two items from order,(chips and sweet an sour sauce)called took another 20mins to get them redelivered,no chicken in our chicken chow mein,larger pancake rolls was uneatable as bitter,so I say bean sprouts are off! Recalled them told them I've sent pancakes bk for chef to eat,lady said I'll take them off your next order,told her I won't be ordering again!!!

Had meal delivered. Was nice and hot but Chicken Balls were very stodgy and chicken a bit hard. BBQ sauce very watery. Lumps of fat in rice.

I have not been for little while and when I ordered my meal over the phone and they told me the price it was 10p more expensive which I know things go up anyway when I got there I did a quick look at the price and picked up a new menu only to find out the prices on my menu were correct.I asked why I was paying 10p more and was told it was for the bag. I know about saving the planet etc but if I was told in the first place we have to pay for there little white plastic bag I would have brought my own as I do everywhere else or for warned me I just like to be asked or mentioned about this not just put on the bill . The service was not great and I will not be going there again

Stayed at Highfield Grange holiday park and nearby is this Chinese takeaway, had chicken chow mein, capital spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken hong Kong style and egg fried rice with beef curry. It was really nice and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend.

Usual very nice food but last night awful. Sesame prawn toast full of grease, curry extremly hot too hot to eat, syrup from pineapple fritter over everything. I know someone else had taken my order by Mistake but they should have cooked my order fresh not given it to me. Wont be using again.

Great Chinese, we are staying at a local holiday park and it was simple, quick and easy to order and collect. The Chinese was super tasty and we were all very full after eating it.

I considered getting a Chinese meal tonight from somewhere else. However, I bottled it, and went with my usual takeaway. Welcome Chinese never disappoints, and I've been going there for decades. I'm now sitting here drooling all over my handset, in anticipation of a delicious meal. Go with what you know and like, and you will never be disappointed. Nuff said!

Last year had a really nice meal..ordered twice this year, found the food to be salty and different taste to what we usually have..

I have used this take away for years then a few weeks ago my meal was too salty. I told them about it. Yesterday I ordered again and it was far too salty again. I won't be going back. There are plenty of other Chinese takeaways in Clacton.

Food bland .Not worth a visit.

Love this take away. Delivery guys are friendly and respectful. Food is delish and always very clean. They are are very knowledge as I have allergies and they are specific and aware and I highly recommend. I use this take away at least 3-4 times a month. Really good all round 😊👍🏼

We have had take out from here quite a few times. It has always been delivered within the time span given. Always been hot and always very tasty. Friends and family that we have introduced to The Welcome Chinese also have said how amazing it is. Best Takeaway ever.

Ok it has changed hands and is much better in terms of speed and cost and quality. Also they ask more questions so indeed I would say the staff are very good at customer Service.

Had a set meal arrived warm not hot, paid £28.50 for it , starters very poor , really small portions really bad value phoned up to complain girl on phone not interested so avoid at all costs , other places better value and better customer service

Food was ok but noodles were very dry. Ok for what it was but not the best Chinese in Clacton. The chicken balls were nice. I will try again as it may of just been a bad day.

Lovely big plate full of Chow Mien, the House Special, completely delicious, £4.95. Quality at a very reasonable cost.

Just would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Welcome for providing us with our extremely large food order last Saturday night. All was delivered on time, at the same time and all 13 or so orders were bagged up and named correctly, everyone's order was as per requested and special requests for extra chilli's and such like all remembered. The food was excellent, all arrived on a cold and blustery evening piping hot! Thank you for taking on our request for such a large party of people.

If I had reviewed this place 6 months ago I would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately it's gone downhill recently. First the menu was changed with less choice on the set meals and no longer am option of set meals for 4. Worse though the food is now quite bland and the meat (beef and chicken) is slimy. The mixed starters were greasy and lukewarm. The vegetables were ok and you certainly can't complain about the portion sizes. Apparently there's been a change of ownership in that time. Sorry but we won't be back.

Popped in Thursday evening for a takeaway...The young girl behind the counter was very friendly and accommodating as we had a couple of special requests which was no problem.. food came quickly and we enjoyed what we had.. will use again sometime soon.

Ordered a lunchtime takeaway, waited a while for my order, but the wait was worthwhile as it was freshly cooked, free home deliveries are offered for evenings, prices are on par with similar takeaways, and the menu is vast with something for everyone, this restuarant is badly in need of a refurb as it is very antiquated. .

Food here was always really good, but new owners now. We ordered a meal on Friday 9th November. when it arrived it was luke warm, the sweet and sour sauce was insipid and the chicken was so overcooked it was stringy and tough! Having been loyal, regular customers for years we will not be eating here again. We also complained and were offered a meal but when my husband went in to order it he was refused.

The Welcome chinese always was good but it has got much better. The food is superb & they deliver locally to holiday parks which is how I use them. They deliver without fuss & meet you at the gate with a smile. The food is delicious & If you want a perfect dish try the Sechzwan chicken. Quite stunning.

Was the best in Clacton what a shame after 12 years using it . Now got to find another , changed everything terrible meal and more expensive. Bring back previous owners !

Food was Fantastic, delivered on time by friendly driver & assistant and was piping hot. Really enjoyed the food and they delivered to the caravan site we were staying at for a time we had arranged. They even ran to say they were on there way. Great service for a Saturday night. Thank you!

No podemos creer que este lugar está justo bajando la calle de nosotros y nunca hemos pedido nada! ¡Es increíble! Llamó para preguntar si hicieron todo lo vegano como parece restaurantes chinos en Clacton no. El hombre en el teléfono era muy servicial y complaciente. Él nos ayudó a escoger entre 2 platos de tofu, un chow mien y un plato de arroz. Absolutamente encantador y el tofu estaba fuera de este mundo! Incluso mi suegro comer carne estaba impresionado! Fueron muy serviciales y sin duda pedir de ellos!

As we were on holiday with our dog, it was difficult to find any eatery, we found this takeaway, staff seemed happy and polite, delivered to our site within 30 mins, food was hot and tasted fresh.

Always had an enjoyable takeaway meal from here, which is a lot more than I can say for most meals I buy, enjoyable being the operative word, sometimes very enjoyable indeed. Big 5***** thank you. I am 84 years old and been coming here for at least 25 years, nowadays mainly by home delivery, but occasionally I 'pop' in.

I will not go anywhere else for Chinese food. It is delicious, the staff are friendly always. I particularly recommend the beef chow mien with some curry sauce. Yumm.

I had previously ordered from here with friends the other week and was so impressed with the high standard of food and service that I HAD to order again. So we ordered for a family of 8, of various ages and everyone LOVED it. With having a large order, we was recommended to preorder it, which we did. We asked for it to come at 7 and it didn't come a minute late. Fantastic service from the lady taking the order, to the delivery driver... And of course the chefs! (and everyone in between) Food was superb. Came really hot, fast and packed with flavour. Highly recommend the smoked chicken, special chow mein and the roasted pork in Chinese sauce (which was a random pick) sooo impressed with that dish. Thank you for a gorgeous, family meal. Can't wait to order again.

We LOVE our WELCOME CHINESE Takeaway. This is in fact the ONLY Chinese Takeaway we use in Clacton. The food is lovely, a little pricey - a lot dearer than a chippy/chicken take out, but you won't be disappointed. It isn't full of slimey, thick gloop that you find in other Chinese takeaways.The chicken balls are lovely and you usually get a small bag of prawn crackers with your order....Thanks WELCOME for being so gorgeous (don't put your prices up anymore, as we will struggle to afford to buy from you if the prices go up anymore.....plus, you'll get more customers if you don't keep putting your prices up!)

Have used this local a few times and it's a nice meal. Fast service and free drink when you spend £30 I think. Would prefer to see a little more authentic Chinese food on menu and some dumplings

I must admit it's been a few years since we ordered a Take-Away from here - can't remember why; but we ordered tonight and it was Lovely. We called at about 6:15pm and The lady on the phone said that it will be delivered in about half an hour, so we turned on the TV to catch up with Big Brother......within 10/15mins the door bell rang and it was here - I think that's the quickest a delivery in Clacton has ever taken. We ordered Egg Fried Rice, Chicken Chinese style, Chicken Hong Kong Style, Chips and a Pancake roll. They even threw in a small bag of prawn crackers - All for under £15.00 - a perfect amount for 2 people....which could stretch to 3 if you had smaller portions. We'll be ordering from here again in the future.

Ordered a takeaway which they said would take an hour to be delivered. Phoned up 1 hour and a half later to see where it was - it will be another 20 minutes. Ridiculous. 1st and last time I order from this Chinese restaurant.

I order my Chinese food from here most times. The food can be slightly too greasy but is nice to taste. The people are friendly. They are reasonably priced. They always deliver very quickly too, usually within 30 minutes.
