One of the best spoons with great staff and In a very nice building. Not stayed in the hotel

Located just off the seafront in the old Co-Op building. As ever Wetherspoon’s have maintained some features of the original building- the grand staircase being the centrepiece. Service was fast and efficient, everything you expected when visiting Wetherspoon’s. (We did not stay in the hotel, just visited for food and drinks)

Bit tatty in places food not brilliant but staff are.

As usual great value and service from spoonies. After a tasty vfm meal and a very nice pint we drove home. I couldn't find my phone!! Finally back at spoonies one of the staff had found it and we were reunited! Thanks guys, as usual great value.,

I went in for a breakfast and must say I’m astounded by the professionalism & service of two of your front of house staff- Charlotte & Nathan. They dealt with the slough of middle-aged drunken patrons with such eloquence like they were juggling plates and sending service with a smile seamlessly. Nathan resolved customer complaints like he could sell ice to an Eskimo & had the composure of a brain surgeon and bomb disposal unit in one & I overheard Charlotte offer to stay on well beyond her finish time to accommodate the needs of this quaint little Wetherspoons. Bottle Kiln is one of the better Wetherspoons, homely and full of personality and staff like Charlotte & Nathan make this what it is. They deserve the best recognition. Thank you for making my experience a thoroughly enjoyable one-food wasn’t half bad either!

Not stayed in the rooms , but there are a lot of people in here , old and can't afford to heat their homes so they are here meeting friends having a cuppa watching the rugby, serves the community very well.

Well I missed the Old places which existed in Dover Court but this one does it's best and inconsideration it is excellent

Love them or hate them, Wetherspoons provide excellent value drink and food with good service. The Bottle Kiln is a good example!

Service can be a slow but never an issue. Great Wetherspoons!

Quick food Good range of drinks

I was feeling lazy so I decided to let somebody else. Do the cooking for me. I had a Chicken jal frazzi, peanut Rice. Naan bread and a drink of coke enjoyed myself

My first visit to this hotel was quickly booked online. Upon arrival I was very impressed with how it looked upon entering. Because I was also a hotel, I largely expected it. Well laid out and looks well cared for. Of course still the value for money that we have all come to expect from Wetherspoons. The food is very good and especially the drinks menu extensive.

Nice clean rooms great location not far from seafront. Bed was enormous although a bit hard. Staff were always helpful. Looking to move down here in the near future so will definitely be staying again whilst looking at properties

Lovely venue didn't stay in the rooms so can't review Had the curry very nice and very good value My only criticism are the beer glasses which were clean but so stained from the dishwasher just looked like they were dirty Should be thrown away and new glasses used Graham

Amazing food and service. The man with the moustache was incredibly polite and helpful. I had a breakfast. It was amazing however I only had one mushroom on my plate. I think that wasn't great considering I ordered a large breakfast

On 20 September member of your staff called ricky told us we could give our grandchildren cake as my husband birthday we spent about £250 that night but he let another party do birthday cake not happy we spend alot money every day kind regards jackie broadley I like some done about this harwich weatherspoons

Didn't stay just went on for a drink. One of the best Wetherspoons.

A breakfast and tea visit. Furnishings looked tired, Breakfast was ok, I've had better.

Customer service was brilliant but the chips was cooked in old oil as it was dark brown like dirty oil soaked in chips was dry also, tried giving me half cook egg with runny white which can cause solomilla poison the sausage was great so was beans , staff handled it straight away after me telling my concern came back with perfect cooked egg so they do give there customer extra care when it comes to not liking how it cooked staff was polite however and handle it with good manners

We have been to a number of different JD Wetherspoon locations. It is a great concept to have something to drink and eat for a good price. In general the locations look fine. Don't know anything about the rooms.

Good basic accomodation. Worth a visit. Location ok but parking difficult. Be ready to walk for a few minutes after parking. Bus dtop and Train Station nearbye. Handy for ferries.

Staff are not good with deaf people. Restroom floor was sticky

Just went to have a breakfast with family. Food arrived missing the fried eggs, went to food counter to get eggs. so far so good. However i then saw the "chef" pick up an egg from another plate on the counter under the heat lamps to put on mine. I have no idea if this plate was someone elses breakfast or just spare eggs sitting on the side. I quickly ask if he was actually going to do that to which he put the egg back down. Then the duty manager appeared and told me that this is the way it is done, it is their policy to pick cooked eggs from one plate to put them on another, using their hands. I was clearly unhappy and said i wanted a refund as i wasnt accepting it. He kept talking over me and talking down to me. I was then told because of MY visual display of unhappiness that i will not be getting my refund. I asked for his name and still in a mood walked away. The duty manager then approached my table, still seeing my unhappines, I informed him i wasnt in the mood for talking, however he ignored me and proceeded to tell me that this is how they do what they did and that it is policy. he said he can check the video as they wash their hands before doing such things, i said he hadnt washed his hands. He said he would check and would deal with it if he hadnt, i asked if i would then get a refund if he hadnt washed his hands and was told no. I was still clearly in a disgruntled mood and not accepting his explanation I got told I am banned from entering The Bottle Kiln again. Yes i got banned over 2 friend eggs. Sound pathetic but if this is how Wetherspoons are training their managers then I will be boycotting every Wetherspoons in the country. I visit many all over England due to my work. This has now put pay to that. I may come across as petty but witnessing what they did would put into question that they do when you cant see them working in the kitchen. For the sake of 2 eggs being handed instead of using a utensil, Wetherspoons has now lost a customer forever and will discourage anyone else to eat there. The manager wasn't interested in me having a pleasant experience in his branch but more so wanting to criticism me for my displeasure at what i witnessed. I know this won't apply to all Wetherspoons, but at present I am extremely annoyed at how i was dealt with. The duty managers attitude was very confrontational and bullyish. Great customer service Wetherspoons!!!!!!!

Favourite Wetherspoon's hotel so far, pub also definitely in the top ten! Located literally next to the impossibly beautiful seaside of Harwich. Will be back during the summer ⛱️🌞

Dinner then breakfast the following morning can't be faulted for value for money and service. Also very clean and tidy including toilets. Didn't stay in hotel.

It was nice,clean & staff were polite. Just that the order was wrong & the chicken tikka meal was luke warm.

Great pub/restaurant/Hotel good value family friendly couple of minutes from the beach 20 minutes from historic harwich and near the train station. Good selection of food and drinks lovely and clean lovely beer garden staff very friendly and helpful.

As hotels in Harwich go, the bottle kiln was great! Rooms were spacious, quiet, well stocked and equipped. Food was ok, nothing special, and parking wasn't as great as hoped. There are very few parking spots and they are pretty much taken all the time. On certain times, you can still park on the streets for free though. The ground floor was sort of a pub, but not so loud as pubs can be. Felt very homely.

Recommend this place... a really nice wetherspoons with great garden... we stayed here in the hotel recently what a pleasant room with comfy bed. Thank you!! Will definitely stay again.

Lovely, spacious rooms. Of course downstairs a big pub/restaurant, with nice dishes and large variety of drinks. Price/value is excellent!

Stayed at the hotel. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Food was good at the bar. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Definitely recommend for a cheap night away

The room was fine, basic but fine. Room service needs improving, cleaners shouting outside the doors in the morning and they just enter the rooms after a single knock, no notices available to not disturb you hang on the door handles. Worst part was our room came with conservative propaganda, shown in the photo, which really wasn't appreciated

It is alot nicer and clean than the 1 in Clacton. There is plenty of space between the tables. The 1 in Clacton is very cramped and closterfobic. The food was okay and the service was good. The toilets are nice and clean. But you do have to go upstairs to them. They do have a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Would recommend trying it. The parking is a little hard as you have to park on the street. Which could be a little difficult as all the shops are right there. Not sure where the nearest car park is.

Fast service (food) and friendly staff. Was served by a clearly new member of staff who didn't know how to make Guinness and black, but went out of her way to check it was perfect. We all have to start somewhere but her attitude couldn't have been better. A+++ for customer service.

The rooms were lovely. Very clean and very comfortable. The housekeeping staff, Channel & Pauline were outstanding. The pub, however, was disappointing. Most of the staff were standoffish and unfriendly. Every table I sat at during my stay was unclean. Cups and glasses were below par too. My daughter, who has worked at another Wetherspoon, was astonished at the cleanliness and staff. She had to clean the glasses that came to our table - picture attached.

Staff don’t acknowledge you for ages, food comes out fast and id decent but place isn’t very clean and tables are left dirty for ages.

Great food and good if on a budget

I went here with my friend and our 4 children from the moment we walked in we didn’t feel welcome. It’s the worst place I have ever been to in my life I cannot even begin to start or share our experience without being angry. We arrived for an early dinner as we know some weatherspoons have a cut off time for kids fair enough. We were here from London as my friend owns a holiday home locally. So we would essentially be repeat customers. After asking at least three staff and 15 minute wait we got a half cleaned table fair enough we went to the bar to order some drinks. Having purchased drinks only to be told oh you cannot give them to your 20 year as she doesn’t have physical ID fair enough. Why not tell me before I placed the order? We then said ok take these two drinks as we won’t drink them now don’t want you have an issues so told in a rude way you need to pay we didn’t care at all paid and handed them back full. Order our starter eat those. Then I ordered on the app only to have the manager to come over and tell me that after one drink he wasn’t going to serve us no more “they couldn’t monitor who was drinking what” also then told we drove there according to “someone”. So he was only singling us out from the whole pub actually people that were spending money. So I asked him to explain and I was very polite did not loose my temper at all when most would. 1. How do you know we are over the limits sorry after order three drinks first time and one cocktail essentially pouring two drinks away? Sorry do you run a pub that’s not over the limit nor did we have a drink before coming to the pub. So one cocktail the smallest amount of alcohol and one double between myself and my friend is over the limit one drink each. 2. My 20 year has a driving licence and insurances to drive the car probably hard to believe also 101 possibilities came into my head. So I didn’t know it was your job to watch how people arrive nor did I think the manager was the police. My daughter whom wasn’t allowed to drink was going to drive us home. Not that I need to explain. 3. No one else was of colour in the pub only our table was singled out sorry I am not playing the race card but it’s something that makes you think. Having discussed with others they agree. Especially when the manager agreed I showed him respect and gave him the drinks when others wouldn’t do that. So where was your respect for me sorry maybe we didn’t fit. 4. Why didn’t you tell us when we got there not this was the case. What was it your customers didn’t like us spending money or what was it as still the next morning I don’t understand. 5. Yes my friend I pay my taxes and work very hard and yes we do own a nice car as we work hard so maybe instead of wasting you time on us educate your customers. 6. You practically kicked us out of the place without eating which to me is still a shock you didn’t want us there so just say sorry I didn’t know that us sitting in a corner quietly eating was going to be an issue, really scary two women with their 4 kids 20 year old , 16 year old , 13 year and 4 year old. We did get a refund for our mains and drinks thanks for doing to the so quickly. I have never been embarrassed in my life and it’s something that my kids shouldn’t have to experience especially at this age when the younger three are learning about society. You have really disappointed us and I would recommend to anyone going there not to go it’s the worst experience ever. Having experienced different cultures and been to different countries never expected this from the one that I have lived in my whole life. I wish I could give a zero to this place as they don’t deserve to be open the manager didn’t even care about how we felt and was proud and when I said I am going to leave a review he said “ok”.

The food, drink, service time was fantastic. But the most amazing thing was that I received a very distressing and upsetting phone call when I was in this branch, and a member of staff noticed when they were serving our table and asked if I was ok. Later, a member of staff named Ricky came to the table to ask again if everything was OK and check in on me. I really appreciated the care and attention in that moment and that the staff took the time to ask if I needed anything. Thank you so much.

I'm a recent convert to Weatherspoons and having today enjoyed a very good breakfast for less than £6 (with coffee), I don't know how they do it. The Bottle Kiln is as good as any Weatherspoons I've been to. Food was quick and well prepared, the place was clean and tide, the staff polite and helpful. It's obviously extremely well managed.

After attending this establishment since its opening I am today very disappointed in the food. Cold chicken bites and nachos were more like a bowl of crisps.

Staff was poor and the assistant manager with beard is in the wrong job l hope Tim Martin closes this one down

If you want a decent pint, decent wine, decent prices, decent pub pub an amazing toilets, there’s no need to go elsewhere. Good Wetherspoons this one.

We were staying upstairs for our first visit here. The restaurant is standard 'Spoons with almost too much to choose from. Service via the App was really good and quick. For value for money, it's very hard to beat. Around £10 a head including drinks. Absolutely recommended - especially if staying here, which was equally impressive.

The very best Wetherspoons we have been to. From an unassuming entrance we entered into a clean, warm and friendly environment. Polite staff and speedy service of well cooked food, all of which was in stock. This is the cleanest Wetherspoons we have been to.

There was nothing particularly good or bad about this experience. The service and food was good (at best). But that’s not what my bad review is about. The atmosphere and people there were awful. A group of drunk men were very loud and began to start arguments to everyone including me and my elderly mum. The staff gave them a warning the first time but then did nothing about it. It was an awful experience. TERRIBLE THROUGH SOME FAULT OF THEIR OWN.

Mistakenly ordered the Beyond Burger expecting a fully loaded burger meal thinking it was going to be something exceptional.Did'nt have my glasses on not realising it was Vegan plant based.More fool me.No problem my fault.I'm nether vegan or vegetarian.But what what I actually got served up on my plate was beyond a joke.Tiny kids sized burger & a handful of chips for £8.75 including a drink.Absolute joke!Couldn't be bothered to send it back,but will think twice about ordering it again.Curry Club Thursday wished I had ordered that instead.Rip off!

113f hottest day of the year sat outside Wetherspoons having a smoke & a bottle of wine.No shades,no umbrellas at the tables Nearly empty.Smokers to the left non smokers to the right.New table layout. Burning hot with nowhere to sit in the shade exceot two smoking tables.Even on an average summers day.Could drum up a lot more buisness if only could cater for people who like a drink outside in the summer months.Smokers & non smokers. Love Wetherspoons good service,great value,ever helpful staff.Cheap & cheerful.But could invest in some extra shades when it gets too hot during the summer months.Hence minus one star.

What a surprise we had from this Wetherspoons, the standards are so much higher than the one in Liverpool, Navigator Old Swan, meals warm, presentation fantastic, I had the Pasta Alfredo with huge big chunks of chicken, you can see the care and attention, shame all other Wetherspoons cannot follow suit.. Well done to all staff who work there..

Shocking... management need to brush up on there customer service skills and a particular member of staff called Natalie should not work with people.. my mum stayed in the hotel above the pub for the night in the morning me and the kids went there for breakfast to meet her I placed my order a breakfast and a side order of scrambled egg I had to repeat my order several times as I did that I thought she would have done the order as it's simple and was repeated a few times while the bar staff member called Natalie huff and puffed through it .. I answered my phone as I thought the order was done this rude lady continued to roll her eyes and have a stinking attitude I asked what her problem was and she got very angry and swore and shouted in front of my child this lead me to get quite angry and her customer service skills from the start was awful I called for management he was useless , he stated that she would not have sworn even tho he was bit present at the time of the incident he would have not none this unless he had super eating powers .. I said I wanted the matter dealt with he was not taking the incident serious and continued to stick to for his member of staff and just brush it of he than stayed that someone had broken the fire exit door and was loud and making noise unroll early hours in the morning and asked my mum what had happened my mother is 60 years old and stayed there with a 80 year old man she takes care of and who has terminal cancer so doubt he was partying in the early hours of the morning ..he was putting the blame on the them and this was just total nonsense.. How can you have staff who swear in front of children storm of and shout all because they can't take a simple food order.. we will be taking this matter further untillsomething is done of this member of staff behaviour and it is noticed properly. If you want service with a smile don't come to this pub !!!

We went here when staying at Dovercourt Holiday Park as their food was terrible and over priced. People may dislike spoons and the owner is a horrid man but the food is always good and so cheap too.

I stayed at this weatherspoons for two nights the rooms were very clean and comfortable the staff were excellent very friendly and helpful the food was superb

Clean good size room. Bit noisey as we were on the main rd. Shower was ok but partner didnt like it as it couldnt be adjusted to not wet her hair.

Stopped here for a drink and were able to sit outside as the weather was warm. They offer table service which was very good. Pub was clean and good selection of drinks on offer.

Considering all the measurements needing to be put into place due to the coronavirus, we turned up with tables too close to each other, no one at the front to explain the situation and how to order. Staff were shaking hands with customers and swearing...

Immediately walking into the restaurant you can see no guidelines are being met! You have chefs and waiters/waitress hugging customers and joking around together. There was a waitress using a customers phone! The table we sat at was sticky and had old food left on...

Ordered a tuna and Cheese panini to get it and only half filled, looked like couldnt be bothered to cut rest and fill it, waitress not helpful at all. Def will not be going there again

Went on Friday morning, it was quiet. Staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there, hardly any words were exchanged. Where we were sitting it was very unclean. Bombarded with flies as well.

Just had the worst mixed grill in my life here, steak was dry and burnt, so was the gammon and lamb and pork steaks, cold fried egg nothing runny about the yolk, cold peas and cold chips, good job it was eat out to help...

Typical Wetherspoons. Its not going to blow you away but for the price you cant go wrong. Been here several times when visiting family and not had a bad experience yet.

Same menu as all Wetherspoon pubs. Ordered one burger and one baked potato - nothing to write home about. Cheap and cheerful. Staff friendly. Very busy and quite noisy. Later on in the evening bouncers on the door and the Police called to a fight outside as we sat and finished our drinks!
