Wonderful, dog friendly, family friendly country pub

Just an update. The Bull Inn in Whitwell, Hertfordshire is only Closed during the refit. It’s planned to reopen on the 30th August 2024 😃

A really great place to eat. Food is amazing, service friendly and professional. Owners work so hard and are very nice. Loved it.

A traditional pub with a lovely atmosphere. There's a good range of drinks and a open fire. We were a group of walkers and were welcome d with open arms.

First time visitor today had a roast and couple of lagers and must say the food was lovely the barman and lady was friendly and great service. the atmosphere was great will be returning for sure.

Went for lunch and the service from Tom and Steff was wonderful, and the food was wonderful.

I’m staying away on business and used this place twice last week. Had the mixed grill both times and it was ok. The central heating was as broken but they tried hard to make people comfortable. Visited today, Monday 25th Feb and regret it. I ordered from the 2 course menu and received the mushrooms as a starter. Well three slices of a mushroom on a piece of bread. It was ok ish. Then the steak and ale pie. It was vile, soggy base, odd gristly chewy meat with an odd texture and oddly sweet. The chips were re-cooked (they weren’t like this last week). The poor guy on the bar was attentive but too busy to serve me for the first 10 minutes (he acknowledged me and was apologetic) but then didn’t check back so I say with my uneaten dish for 25 minutes. He immediately took it off the bill but no offer of an alternative so I left hungry. Worst still, I paid for 1 drink and the starter at full price, which can’t have been a regular portion, half a mushroom for £6.75. I’ve got another 6 days in the area and shan’t return again.

Friendly and welcoming. Beer was nice! Didn't have any food but what was brought out to other guests looked nice.

Really lovely walk! Great place to have drinks. Beautiful views around the north of England. Very steep hills around the area. Easy parking. Very nice pub with helpful staff. Mordern church in the village with singlong bells. Very nice village. Lots of friendly people around the area. Freshly cut grass. A bit too muddy. Perfect for familiies who come from London. 10/10 Perfect walk! Easy to get to from M1 and A1M

We very much enjoyed our visit. A wonderful place - great cakes - friendly service - good for walkers and cyclists especially. We will definitely be going again.
