Lovely chicken, and I have had some great dishes from here. However, I think that the customer should have the option of having mayonnaise in a separate pot rather than drizzled over your chicken as this led me to not eating my strips.

This is the best place for wings . The flavours are amazing so many options . On this occasion I had the special which was coconut and jerk sauce wings which tasted amazing. Been a few times and every time I try a new flavour . Had there doner tots too they where amazing too felt like a little chicken doner in a bowl . So far my favourite flavour has been the mango rubicon .

The chicken strips with garlicky cheese and sauce was tender and lovely. Just needed a bit of a salt. Otherwise it was a good choice!

Chicken George jr rules the roost! I’ve been many many chicken shops from independents to chains and all are below in the pecking order .. award winning chicken wings.. this blows them all out of the water, please BELIEVE the hype! I drove out of my way a good two hours to visit chicken George jr after wanting to go for what seemed years. A opted for takeaway as I was in a rush to somewhere else but had to try as I was passing. They say food is sold by the eyes…well, i do anyway. if it looks the part, 9 times out of 10 you normally feel it’s better. Chicken George jr not only looks the part it taste the part. A delicious menu stuffed with variety of saucy themed flavours and quirky names. Overwhelmed for choice I ordered way more than necessary being not able to choose between the creative sounding choices. I tried 1 piece of original chicken on the bone and it was clucking massive, the slightly Salty seasoned skin with crisp and crunch deep fried to perfection..a fried chicken lovers dream. The award winning rubicon mango wings and my personal favourite buggies buffalo. The wings had the same skin and crunch and were Above avarage size. The buffalo wings were exactly what I wanted(needed) and up there with the best I’ve had. The creative rubicon mango is proberly the most creative wing I’ve ever had. A humble chicken wing evolved into its final form levels of flavours combining to give a complex taste that’s very unique and tasty. 2 burgers, the honey bbq deluxe and the chicken George whoppa. The honey bbq combined a comforting Smokey Turkey bacon flavour with the previously mentioned fried chicken and cheese. All glued together by a favourful but light ranch mayo. Now on to the chicken George whoppa.. wow .. now that’s a chicken burger. Even though there is an option to add fillets for £3 extra, as standard. The whoppa comes with 2. And absolute mouthwatering classic combination of sauces make this almost too much… almost! Finally I tried 5 no less stripes of the Thai me up flavour consisting of crushed peanuts spicy Thai sauce spring onion garlic and a lemongrass and coriander mayo Now, I can’t stand lemon grass. I can’t stand coriander either so the thought of that mayo all over those delicious wings had me nervous. i shouldn’t of worried I managed to eat them no problem because the delicacy of the herbs to mayo was so light I could blend the taste with peanut and garlic and it paired together so well. Also a Special shout out to the house made chilli sauce. Crushed chilli, spices and mint all swim together delivering that kebab house chilli taste but with a moorish creeping heat. 9.3/10

Chicken was so dry and fibrous in chicken wrap. Bad experience as my first time in Hitchin I hope the quality improves, if not I recommend adding dental floss to menu. Good luck 💪

One word, Amazing! Simply the best Chicken shop for miles and worth driving for. The red dragon tenders are delicious and you will not go wrong with the original boss burger. Can't attach any photos as I have eaten all of it and am stuffed

Food is always great, way better than KFC for similar prices. Probably your best all round option in Hitchin fried chicken wise. More expensive in resteraunt than takeaway, nd quite considerably depending on what you're having, IE tenders not being buyable as a meal, each component would have to be bought separately. I think similar for wings. I was fortunate in that they were doing a promo on eat in burger meals. Service is quick so not bad for a work lunch either. Just disappointed the luton branch has shut as it's closer to home Not very accessible directly being along hitchin main highstreet but worth the walk!

We love the food in chicken george and are regular hitchin customers however for my sons 16th birthday he wanted a takeaway from chicken george. I ordered the 10 piece family pack which would normally be sufficient for a family of 4. When I looked in the bag i only saw one small box of fries which would sufficiently feed 2 people. I took the box back in and the female informed me that they have reduced the amount of chips they provided with the family pack. However she did provide me with another box and apologised however stated that in future you will only get one small box chips with family pack. My issue is that had I not have noticed I would have not have had enough food to feed a family of 4. My advice would be not to order the 10 piece family pack clearly mis advertised and sadly a not enough chips to satisfy a family of four. Not had this previously so clearly trying to save money at the expense of customers and their reputation.

Didn’t receive all Items on delivery, raised with driver and he said would have to call store/gogetters. Store have denied missing items. Order arrived cold and portion sizes suprisingly small. One to avoid, all hype no substance….

I drive 45 minutes to eat here! Not the average chicken burger you would expect. Burgers are very big and well put together. Amazing flavours Great portion size Wings are fantastic 👏 😋

Had high hopes seeing this place over social media being the 'Best chicken shop in the UK' but unfortunately the hype wasn't worth it. I ordered the bossman chicken burger which was extremely dry and cold, bare in mind I ate my meal literally within 3 minutes of it being ready! So for it to have been cold means it was likely not prepared fresh which you'd expect for the price they charge. I also ordered the mango Rubicon tenders which were so bland and again cold. Finally I had the maple sriracha burger and this was pretty decent but still nothing to write home about. Don't fall for the hype guys this place is definitely not the best chicken shop in the UK.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant a few times and had countless takeaways. Not your average fried chicken place! Favourites include the rubicon mango wings, maple sriracha wings and garlic parmesan strips.

This is probably the BEST fried chicken that I’ve ever had! All of the food tastes fresh and the portion sizes are really generous. The staff are efficient and the restaurant itself is well finished and a nice environment to be in. The food is definitely good value for money, I’m counting down the days until my next visit!

I'm not usually big on fried chicken but after being battered over the head so many times by friends to try Chicken George I finally found an opportunity to go when I owed my brother in law a trip for his birthday. Could not fault it at all, both got the Honey BBQ Delux. Absolutely superb! I only wish we ordered more, but as first timers safe to say we'll definitely be back!

Good food like i remember in Luton, but service a bit slow

Finally got to try this place after drooling on instagram photos for years! Great food and went down a treat! Only suggestion I could make is that it would have been nice to have some crinkle cut gherkins in the buffalo chicken burger but otherwise everything was bang on 🔥

Amazing food and good friendly service

This place is top quality chicken! And I was born in south London. Home of fried chicken. Had the rubicon wings, buffalo wings and fries. I had a can of rubicon and she had a pint of beer. I’ve had takeout three times before and it’s always delicious but it’s better eating in. Go through to the back on the left and see if they have a table. The foods really fresh, tasty and succulent. Can’t get much better in my opinion can’t wait to try a burger next time. Service is efficient and the atmosphere is good. Lots of hungry chicken eaters. It gets very busy and I’m not sure if you can book a table or not. If you’re waiting for food you can also play their arcade machine by the front door. Will definitely go again.

This place is super busy, but that is just more of a highlight as to how good the food is. We went at 1pm and it was packed. Don't forget to book!

Awful Service My partner and I went in on Saturday 16/03/24 during lunch time. It was our first time here and we were really excited to try the food. However, we were met with the most rude service I’ve ever received at any establishment, so we left and didn’t bother eating here. We walked in and there was no one to greet us or show us to a table, so we assumed that you just walk in and grab an available table, but we still wanted to confirm with a member of staff. There was a lady wearing a headscarf who was clearing tables, we politely asked her if we have to wait to be seated, to which she replied “well yeah you have to wait” in the most arrogant tone and walked off. We were then told by someone else that there’s a 25 minute wait. By then we had lost all our desire to dine here, we won’t be coming back.

Fantastic food and the portions are very generous, so much better than the @#C found on many a high street and retail park

I ordered food for 2 people and I’ve had to wait 2 hours and 30 minutes, and this is not the first time I’ve had to wait more than 2 hours with no offer for discounts or anything. I do not recommend ordering online !!

They need to balance out the seasoning properly it always to salty

Could of never of faulted this place in past visits but I’ve just spent the last half an hour cleaning pink chicken off my bathroom floor from my 8yr old daughter chucking up chicken George she had earlier this afternoon my son also said his stomach was hurting, I only had 2 chicken strips and noticed they didn’t taste right from previous visits sad now I won’t be returning as I can’t afford for my children to get sick again my daughter is now incredibly upset and in pain

Our family love chicken george the chicken is tasty and moist and even though they've changed the fries they are still nice too (the only reason I deducted a star as they used to serve the 10 piece chicken on the bone with 2 sides in a foil turkey roaster with piles of fries that we would eat the following day now they come in a separate box and were just enough for 4 no left overs ! 😥 ) I would highly recommend chicken george though as I haven't had a dry chicken yet Ps FYI if I had opted for delivery it would of cost an extra £10 as they bump up the prices and charge delivery and a service charge !

Second time being here and the food has gone downhill! Had the boss man burger and Thai chicken wings. The chicken fillet in the burger was dry like I was chewing cardboard. The chicken wings were soggy, although the sauce was very nice! The dirty fries were to die for tho, only reason I gave it 3 stars!

This place gets busy on a Saturday night so be prepared to wait for your food. But 101% worth the wait. Million times better than KFC amazing food

Great place it’s a shame they closed the one near Luton! I’ve tried most things but my all time fave are the buffalo wings and potato tots! You can dine in or have a takeaway. They have changed the cocktails to draft which aren’t as nice as the original ones they used to make! Staff are always really nice and welcoming!

Best Wings By A Mile!!! My me, my partner and a couple of friends went for a Friday night dinner at Chicken George. I’ve always heard good things however didn’t realise how good it actually was. When first arriving it was heaving, luckily I realised this was the take away queue and continued next door to the restaurant. Unfortunately you can’t reserve a table so we had to wait 15-20minutes which isn’t too bad for a Friday night. Only issue was there wasn’t much of a waiting area. We ordered the Thai wings, garlic wings and buffalo wings. Followed by the buffalo burger and boss man burger. We also tried the new maple and Sriracha wings. All were sensational! We had more than we could eat and the bill for 4 people was only £80. £20 per head with two drinks each. Such amazing value for money.

Second time visited and are hooked on the chicken wings! Wonderful flavours. Nice team to serve you and a clean environment. Depending on when you go it can be queueing out the door or empty. This time around we had too wait 50 minutes. You just never know. Definitely worth the wait though. Thoroughly recommend. Great job guys. 👍👍👏👏👏

Wow! I took myself and my beautiful girlfriend to chicken George Hitchin 😋 and drove from St albans and was not disappointed at all. Had a little wait but wasn't to bad they were quite busy but omg! I've never had chicken cooked so perfectly it was perfection well worth the drive. Next time we will try the Bedford branch. All I can say is KFC ! You Are in trouble. Chicken george is way better! And that's a fact! Absolutely loved it! The staff were brilliant as well 👏 10/10 from us. All i will say is Please open a shop up in st albans so I can save the wear and tear on my car lol.

Oh wow. My first visit to a Chicken 🍗 George 🇺🇸 and I was so impressed. The food was absolutely delicious! The highlight of my meal was the honey bbq burger 🍔 omg. Some friends were worried the normally sweet stuff like honey bbq or mango would be too sickly sweet, but chicken George has the perfect formula whereby the balance of the food is perfect. The el chapo wings were firey 🔥 but so tasty and enjoyable at the same time. Can’t wait to come again!

Must have ordered here on a bad day according to most of the reviews I have read, I used to love Chicken George when it was in Luton so thought I would go to Hitchin to have a takeaway. What a bad mistake that was fries were rock hard, buns were soggy, chicken overcooked so all in all a waste of time going from Luton to Hitchin and a waste of £24.00.

Good service, Good size of portion

We went to Chicken George today for the first time today due to many recommendations from friends. Overall, the food was tasty, but I do believe that it is majorly overhyped. The fried chicken is on par with KFC, and the buffalo sauce that I had on wings is franks red hot sauce and I’ll eat my shoe if anyone denies this (disappointing as not advertised like this). So, although well cooked and prepared; if I knew they’d be using branded stuff on their chicken, I’d think twice about visiting because it’s not something I’d travel for. My partner said his burger was nice, and he’d stop by and have it if we were in the area (Honey BBQ). With regards to the atmosphere, the music was way too loud, to the point where you had to raise your voice to speak at the table. It was very uncomfortable, something myself and others at my table agreed on, and something I would hope they’d consider to change, as I personally felt uncomfortable and I’m sure that this would especially have a negative impact on those with additional needs.

Don't have to tell you about this place, freaking amazing chicken, just go, eat everything 😁

So I went in and ordered a takeaway... Shame forgot to snap photos 🤦🏻‍♀️ will do that next time as defo going back. It got 4 ⭐ because the food came quick the lady at the till was lovely and the food was yummy. Now I don't generally practise to leave chicken overnight in the fridge but the portion size was large and when I say I reheated the chicken the next day in my microwave and it tasted like it did the day before as well as the texture not changing this was the 1st time I've experienced this... Normally chicken reheated ends up changing... Not in this case... I had the Honey BBQ strip meal for £9.95 😋

Starting on a negative, but ending on a positive... Whenever I order a burger the first thing I will check is the lettuce as unfortunately some places will willingly stick the equivalent of 'lettuce phlegm' in the bun and sadly this order was no exception (see picture)... Sure I pulled it out, but for 26+ quid for a single meal and side you do expect better than lettuce that should have been thrown away... Secondly I ordered blue cheese sauce and was given bbq which I don't like, which was particularly unfortunate as the buffalo burger was very dry and lacking in sauce (hence ordering the blue cheese in the first place). That said, the chicken itself was very nicely cooked, the portions were generous and the fries-in all fairness, were banging! I would order again, but would opt to minus the lettuce and hope the correct sauces show..

Great food, friendly staff and overall great atmosphere.

Been going here a while now, food is amazing and service is great. The only reason it has not got 5 stars is on my most recent visit with some family (one of whom was in an electric wheelchair) we realised the shop is not wheelchair friendly at all. There are steps from the entrance to where you order, again when you go sit down to eat inside and even to go the toilet (no disabled toilet either). Luckily we went when the weather was good so we could sit outside but if this was winter time then we would be stuck. As amazing as the food is, it would be great if they could do somethign about this.

Over rated as it's the only chicken place in the area. Under all the facade of a well decked up place it's just a typical chicken place. Staff are nice. Chicken was dry, oily and heavily covered in mayo/ketchup

I was told, by my mate's friend's, great uncle's step dad(on a night out in malaga), that this place was the best venue in the world for chicken. Now let me tell you, between me and my friends, we consumed 4.9 hens which is only a mere 0.1 points off my star rating. I have to say, this was the finest chicken in town. Not a morsel was left in out cardboard tubs. Highly deserved 5 stars on all counts. Great staff, amazing service, top notch food and buzzing atmosphere. Loved it. The food at Chicken George in Hitchin is so delicious. From the pic you can see what we had.. bbq sauce burger, chicken fillets, beers, coke!

Amazing flavours and tender chicken, in a lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff, already looking forward to my next visit.

I probably order from here way more than I should, but it's just the best chicken place around, quite possibly the best fried chicken I've ever had from anywhere, including in the US. Excellent price point, never greasy or overcooked, it just always seems to be perfect. The range of flavours is great too, I personally go for the Buffalo, but the honey BBQ is also great. Probably best to head there earlier in the evening to avoid a long queue, but this place is rightfully very popular.

40 miles for the best chicken shop in England I'll take that all day long

Will not use this place. Drivers use the taxi rank as a parking space and for an older person waiting for a taxi is not good, especially when these people think they own the space and are rude and aggressive to any one who confronts them. A big blight on Hitchin. 👎👎👎

My son absolutely loves this place and most weeks it is his treat meal after boxing
