Nice decor and friendly staff but I've always had to wait for a long time for food, which is average.

Family reunion, it was a Sunday so mainly roast dinners. It was very noisy which hampered conversation somewhat. Dog friendly, children's play area, all in all I would recommend.

Arrived for a pub lunch and the menu looked good. Well laid out and staff were very helpful. That is the best part. Came inside to the pub and entered the restaurant section please note if you come in from the beer garden the disabled access is not there and this issue presents itself again with access to toilet facilities. We ordered from the menu Gammon Egg and chips Onion Rings Halloumi in breadcrumbs Beer Battered Cod and Chips So the beer battered cod turned up balancing on the chips. Not sure if this was presentation to justify the price or just the attempted chef not really giving a toss When I mean beer battered it was like an alcoholic Negan from the Walking dead had beer battered it with his club. It was dark brown in colour and fish was very dry and tough in the corners. I was crunching it The chips were not cooked through and tasted a little raw on the larger ones and so I dipped in the curry jelly. It was hardly a sauce and a skin had formed over the top in the bowl. So pleasant. The breaded halloumi tasted dry and overcooked and had clearly been cooked in the same deep fat fryer as the fish as that what they tasted of. My friends dinner was completely left and returned. Overcooked egg which the yolk had hard boiled and the edges burnt and the gammon was like burnt bacon. The fat around the edge was more than chargrilled. The place has potential however the seats in the restaurant are all water stained and need deep cleaning. I nearly took my hips our sitting on the toilet as the seat was not bolted on. There was toilet paper shoved in the door jam and the sink just kept flowing even after turning it off. We were informed that the road closures at Gravely were causing a loss of business but I would consider that general house upkeep and a qualified chef would improve a little under the circumstances. It seemed that all our food had all been deep fat fried together in old oil possibly stolen from the back of a Chinese restaurant and reused. Whilst there were gluten free options without seeing the kitchen I would not believe there is adequate separation for it to be truly gf Such a lovely area as Gravely and I appreciate times are difficult but in any good business a level of quality and professionalism would bring people back. Again your staff were very apologetic and pleasant but you need to step up

We visited for an early lunch, so we virtually had the place to ourselves. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We ordered a club sandwich, cheese and tomato pannini, and chicken fillet burger. When the food arrived, it was well presented and enjoyable, the seasoned fries were really good, which accompanied each dish. The wine and other drinks were good, too. It was only after we had paid and left that we realised that they had not fulfilled the order correctly as the chicken fillet burger was actually mistakenly delivered as the wrap option so was not in a brioche bun and without the onion rings. However, they still charged us for the burger, which was substantially more expensive than the wrap and pannini menu. The decor is nice and the location is good so we would probably return. There's substantial gardens and activities like archery and a giant Connect 4 to play with. They also host events.

Really disappointed waited 45 mins for food when the pub was practically empty. Overpriced drinks small wine and a small flat cola £9.60. No fresh glass for 2nd drink. As nice as staff were, there was no professionalism about them, stating cutlery should be out there but weren’t! Music was too load and awful quality which didn’t help. On a positive note food was good . Sadly will not be visiting again.

Visited today for some lunch and the service was amazing all staff are lovely especially Kerri,she went above and beyond and we really enjoyed it. Food was unreal & the homemade cheesecake.

Visited a few times over the last couple of weeks adn have not been disappointed. Great local pub and restaurant, Good food and impeccable service. Will be back.

Came in for a late dinner last night, we hadn't booked a table but the staff were very hospitable, excellent service and reasonable prices. We will definitely come back.

The food was well below average, the chickpeas in the very bland and unseasoned chickpea tagine must have been chased away by the number of carrots, leaving only 3 chickpeas! The Sunday roast, veg were over salted, the roast potatoes were soft and looked like they’d never seen a roasting pan and the chicken breast was dryer than a camels bum in a sandstorm! We were seated at a table in front of an exit door to the outside bar area, which was in constant use by customers AND waiting staff who continued to leave the door open every time they went outside and were completely oblivious to the constant interruptions to our meal and the overall non-enjoyment of our experience. When we were asked if everything g was okay, we replied that it wasn’t, the food was below par and the location of our table was not acceptable, we were met with, “Oh sorry about that, here’s the bill”. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!

We went to the tasting menu night for the new menu. Food was really good. There was also wine pairing. It was a great night, good atmosphere and the staff were lovely. Will be going back soon to check out the full menu.

It used to be a very good place but it changed. The waiting time on Tuesday evening was 1.5h due to a "system glitch" - somehow the kitchen did not spot no orders coming despite the busy car park. The meal did not feel too fresh either.

Nice place and atmosphere, service was great we were served by Jo, who was kind. Food was ok, but will definitely be returning to try other things from the menu!

Very polite & friendly waitresses. Tasty & freshly prepared food. Homemade chips with the gammon a really pleasant & welcome surprise. Excellent.

Beer Battered Fish & Chips and Breaded Chicken Katsu Curry: the batter for the fish and bread for the chicken were with the right thickness, and the breaded chicken was crispy outside & moist inside.

We went to the George & Dragon for a Sunday lunch and we was amazed at everything from the service to the food and the atmosphere. Emillie served us and was very attentive, making sure our food and experience was perfect. Would definitely return!

Unscheduled evening meal here and we were served by Lily. Meal was superb, surroundings pleasant and Lily was attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend.

Booked table for Sunday roast based on reviews as we're not from the area. Dog friendly in bar area. Very nice serving staff. Limited menu apart from roasts, as several dishes on menu were not available. Only one ale on draft. TVs on in bar, plus some music from speakers with very poor quality sound. Roast beef was good, although probably too much meat on plate. Potatoes hard, broccoli nice al dente, but other vegetables overcooked. Cauliflower cheese had lovely sauce but cauliflower overcooked. Gravy tasted and looked like bisto. No horse radish sauce for roast beef! Didn't stay for dessert as only 3 on menu, which is too limited a choice. We wouldn't return nor would we recommend

Just went to the George and Dragon for the second time and was once again completely disappointed. While the restaurant looks lovely, on both occasions i have had issues. The first was incorrect orders asking for drinks 3 - 4 times and delays in getting those wrong orders out. Tonight yet again there was yet again a waiting game taking over an hour to come out. When it did the food was overcooked and completely bland. I will definitely not be going back for a third time!

Warm welcome and attentive service from Jade this evening. My food was lovely - I had tacos with honey and lemon chicken - a really lovely combination of flavours. All the dishes we ordered were very tasty and freshly cooked. Looking forward to visiting again. Would be great to see such a lovely local pub a bit busier on a Saturday night.

Great Location, great for kids and dogs alike. Sunday roast was delicious and a huge portion. A few points that brought it down for us: The roast potatoes - just weren't roasted enough, had no crunch and we're quite dry on the inside. The red cabbage - no flavour and was lost on the plate. The broccoli - I like Al dente but this still needed a min or two. The gravy - rather than in a boat or some container to pour our amount on, it was poured all over the food. Saying that, the rest of the veg, the meat (we had chicken, lamb and gammon) was all incredible and really packed the flavour, the pigs in blankets and cauli cheese was delicious too!! Jo was our server, and she was friendly, chatty and really a pleasure to meet and to be served by.

Really good roasts! Four of us met for Sunday roast and were really impressed with the lunches and in particular the value for money! The cuts of meat were really thick, great quality veg and Yorkshire pudding and the sauces were fab too. The sides were great too but the stuffing was maybe just a little dry and crumbly (we still ate them mind you, that's probably picking hairs!) Definitely be back at some point soon. -- Went back again! Again, the food was superb (my katsu curry was delicious!) but they all looked fantastic. Jo and Tony were really attentive and friendly while we were eating. Will no doubt be back soon again! Thanks team.

Fantastic pub/restaurant. Outstanding food and great beer. We are making this our favorite go to place to eat or have a quiet drink. Staff are really friendly and the entire premises is spotless with a huge garden area and plenty of parking. Jess our waitress was excellent and prices are amazing value. 10/10 very highly recommend. Visited for birthday lunch with friends. Fast service, friendly staff and excellent food. I recommend the liver and bacon with mash. Nice decor inside pub, modern and airy.

Well staffed and efficient service

Finally got round to having a roast here. Seriously good, especially for the price. £14.95 for a generous beef roast. Must beef roasts in the area are £18-£22 these days. Cauliflower cheese side was seriously good too!

Food was delicious! Beer and wine were great! Service was brilliant - the waitress Jo was friendly and helpful. Really nice atmosphere and they had live music on aswell. All in all a lovely evening! Oh and very reasonably priced!

Had a lovely meal with friends today, decor and environment nice and relaxed. Great pub with good food. The pub has a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant could benefit from a couple of soft furnishings to help the acoustics. I had the fish curry which was flavoursome and aromatic. I've visited this pub twice and enjoyed both visits.

Brilliant pub in the lovely village of Graveley. Hosted Weston RFC willingly and allowed us to watch the rugby and hang out until the evening. Would happily recommend going to this pub if you're looking for good pints and lovely staff.

Went here recently, food was OK, not a great choice, though a couple of the people I was with thought it was bland, service was OK but unfortunately the place has no atmosphere. I won't be going back any time soon.

We pre booked a buffet for 20 people and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and there was lots of choice and plenty for everyone. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our small party very comfortable . We would definitely recommend The George and Dragon for the excellent food and great customer service.

We came for a Sunday roast on our way back from Bath. The food was absolutely gorgeous. The lamb was cooked to absolute perfection. Their prices are also exceptionally reasonable. The quality of food, service, and the price put a lot of other places to shame. The staff were helpful, friendly, and very cheerful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's in the area to visit. Just make sure to book in advance as it's very popular. We shall be coming back again without a doubt!

Lovely friendly welcome door was held open for us. We went for my daughters birthday 4 of us along with our 2 dogs who were also welcomed and given a bowl of water. The staff were all very attentive and polite. The food is excellent and plenty of it. Real value for money. Will return. Thank you everyone.

Great food would have been nice to have a break between courses, main came straight out as soon as starters were finished. Helpful waitress, possibly new so had to ask chef questions.

Edit - 06/10/23 Revisited tonight with friends. Really tasty food, lots of flavour. Staff attentive to our requirements. A live band were playing. Great evening. Went for a catch up with a friend tonight. Instead of the usual burger I opted for the new lemon chicken thighs soft tacos! Definitely one to try. Really packed a punch with flavours and really enjoyed. Friend had the chicken ceasar salad which was also really tasty. Will no doubt be back next month to try something else on the menu. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere.

Came to george and dragon on sunday. Was very dissapointed. Food was cold when bought to tables. Chicken on one of the plates wasnt cooked. Gammon was fatty. It was a rush to order as a couple of people in the party were late so had to order for them as stop seating at 5.0clock. Would have preffered to have had a wider choice on menu. Wasnt asked by staff if everything was ok. Thats why i havnt scored high. Unfortunatley wont be returning.

Went for Sunday lunch with a friend. Although they were heavily booked when we phoned they fitted us in. When we arrived, just after 1pm it was quiet but by 2pm it was filling right up so an early table might be the best option if you leave it to the last minute to book We both chose the lamb roast and it arrived quickly and the portions were large. They gave us extra gravy, as requested, and didn’t charge for it as some places have in the past. The mint sauce was lovely and so thick is was almost solid. The food was very flavoursome and cooked perfectly, the lamb was beautifully tender and there was lots of it. My only criticism was that the food was a little cold and the door to the garden area was open which caused the food to cool down quicker than would be ideal. Nonetheless I’m a fast eater and the food was lovely throughout. My friend had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for desert and I had a large white coffee which was full flavoured and potent. Just what I needed. At under £20 per head it was excellent value for money. Service was quick and spot on.

We had lovely dinners with all the trimmings and giant Yorkshire puddings. I had a tasty vegetarian option and my husband had the gammon.

The Katsu chicken burger was juicy in itself but didn't have much sauce at all, it didn't have the classic katsu flavouring either. Think it could be improved by making it more of a thicker authentic curry sauce, even putting a small pot of extra sauce on the plate for dipping! Then it would be perfect and I'd buy every time 😍

Had a fantastic time at the recent Ibiza & World Beer events. Great atmosphere, music from band Norton Splinter who were brilliant and food is always amazing. Nice and friendly staff too. Look forward to next event! Regards, Kyle

Staff lovely..Food great ..The pub is lovely and a great area outside..Unfortunately the day we went although there was agood trade was by no means rammed but the food took over an hour to come out...People were leaving without eating..It was a shame as otherwise it was a lovely day

Today I thought it would be a lovely change for my mother and I to go out and let someone else do the cooking for us for a fabulous change … We chose The George and Dragon at Gravely near Baldock as we have dined there several times and the food was really good. We were late booking and got a table for two at 4pm (they stop seating guests at 5pm) We both decided on the roast beef Sunday roast with cauliflower cheese extra side dish. Where do I start … (deep intake of breath) The beef was so tough it was hard to cut with our knives … hard to chew and difficult to swallow … the roast potatoes had been kept warm far far too long and were hard and dry … the Yorkshire puddings were very large dry with no flavour …the diced carrots and parsnips were so so ridiculously salty and sweet and again kept too long and were greasy and dry so their flavour was so concentrated … the red cabbage was far too sweet … The cauliflower and cheese side dish was sent back because the cauliflower was raw … and unfortunately came back replaced by another portion which was raw… Oh dear dear … it was a disasterous late lunch. What do I think about serving food? … I believe is that if you are serving food till 5 o’clock it has to be of the same quality that you start with when you open your service at the beginning of lunchtime …  I paid the same amount for my food that the people did on first sittings, so why should my quality be any different? Maybe the George and Dragon can take that on board … Thank you They did however discount the cauliflower cheese dish off my bill … (large exhale! )

Stopped here for lunch after visiting Graveley strawberry farm. We didn’t have a reservation but they were really accommodating and Kelly seated our group of seven, including three hungry toddlers. Food was quick and delicious. Very friendly service. There’s a great outdoor space which we’ll have to explore next time we visit. Highly recommend.

Had a fantastic lunch, from start to finish the service was fantastic, staff were all super friendly and attentive. The katsu curry was delicious! Fish and Chips (whale and chips) was also delicious! Reasonably priced, very clean and a lovely setting. Kelly was our lovely waitress and looked after us, we will be back later in the month. Glad we decided to take a chance today 💎🍽

We had an amazing 7 course tasting menu to celebrate our parents Anniversary and it was such a great night. All of the courses were delicious and three of them were paired with wine that really added to the flavours! Can’t wait to go back, really good atmosphere, friendly staff and very talented chefs!! Popped in on the way to Stevenage. Nice decor. Service friendly. Food really tasty and hot. Reasonable prices. Just had a main meal and honestly couldn't fit a desert in.

We went to this restaurant a few weeks ago to have a Sunday Roast. After a few disappointing Sunday's Roasts, I was afraid that this would not be good again. But, it is the opposite. I ate the lamb and it was perfect. My husband ate the beef and it was delicious too, and my mum ate the pork ( I ate better pork than this) but it is OK. I recommend the Sunday Roast. The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is nice,but I thought when I saw the picture from the outside and with this name the décor would be more traditional.

We went late on a Thursday evening so service was fast and great hot food we had the daily specials which were very filling... Good portion sizes

We visited the George and Dragon for my Mums birthday. The food was of a really high standard and the staff could not have been more accommodating. A few people on our table had allergies/intolerances and they were very helpful. Would definitely recommend! Especially the fish and chips!

We walked down here for lunch as it’s our local pub, we’ve never been here before after living here for 2 years! It’s was amazing my partner had a burger and it looked incredible and he said it was one of the best burgers he’s ever had, I just had a bowl of chips but they were big hand cut chunky chips and they were great! For a bottled beer, burger, chips and a large lemonade it’s came to about £24! We thought that was an amazing price! The gardens were amazing very pretty, can’t wait to come back when it’s dark to see the fire pit in all its glory! All the staff were lovely, can’t wait to go back!

Food was bland. But I cant hold it too much against them cuz the English do not season their food.

Me and my mum went here for lunch a few days ago - and it's safe to say I'll definitely be coming back. Very reasonable in terms of price, especially for what you get. I had a houmous and falafel wrap (gorgeous) and fries, and the fries are the best I've ever had. Really light, crisy and salty. Good sizes portion as well. Dog friendly and they also have water bowls for dogs available.
