Quite a soulless place! V grumpy and rude staff, won’t be coming back. Didn’t try the food so can’t comment on that.

Very unfriendly staff - clearly understaffed and unprepared for ‘large groups’ even though the pub was still half empty

Came here on a Saturday. Service was very rude. Setting is nice but would go elsewhere given how they treated me and the people I was with.

July152024 calmer today but maybe lots of people outside. Syaff great. Food and beer still good. Will keep on going. Amazing place with great bar and a significant conservatory. Bar is half timbered and with a real fire. Focuses on food and the choice is good. Not the cheapest but not expensive and the view is worth a fortune. staff great but a little under resourced. All in all a great place ill be going back to.

We have been coming here since we first met 16yrs now. Food was absolutely amazing and the waitress was lovely and friendly you must book as it fills up pretty quickly and the views in the garden are spectacular

Really disappointed with the food. I'd say we were a fairly early lunch at 1.30pm. Beef was like leather and really fatty and could hardlg chew it. Everyone at our table just left the meat.. Potatoes were like mini bullets (advertised as roasted in duck fat I think. Not roasted or crunchy at all) and the Yorkshire pudding was solid even with a good drink of gravy. A testament to how a hot lamp can ruin food when it should be getting cooked to order. The pudding saved the meal as was absolutely lovely. It wasn't that busy but I think only maybe 2 girls serving. We had to keep going to the bar to order our food. Wouldn't go again which is a real shame as the food was always second to none here. Sadly taken a dive.

One of best Chef&Brewer pubs we've been too. Front of house staff brilliant, especially Sam..Will be a regular visitor I'm sure.

Great place the stuff is very attentive the atmosphere and the place is just gorgeous the food it good for a pub- restaurant we love it with my wife highly recommend it for families as well !!!

We went for a long walk around the fields, and at the end of that we made our way to the Green Man. We sat in the garden and enjoyed the beautiful views across to Hitchin and beyond. There is an outside bar for drinks and ordering food and very nice staff. Food menu was good and a good range of alcohol although limited on alcohol free range. We would go back there and highly recommended.

We visit the Green Man frequently ,all staff are great. On the last 3 occasions we have been served by Ella. Just like to say thank you for being so polite, attentive and efficient. Makes for a great experience. Jane, Andy and Georgie

We went on bank holiday lunch time without a booking and they give us the table that I requested! Amazing staff, the food was really good. We stayed there like 4 hours the atmosphere was incredible!

Racist and superior attitude from the slim guy wearing glasses, at the entrance of the restaurant. Just arrived and lied that they are very busy, with 75% of the place being empty. If you're a foreigner, best to avoid and go elsewhere.

We met friends for breakfast. Never been to the green man before. Pub, food, service, staff and views all brilliant! Will definitely visit again. Don't change anything, lovely as it is. Cannot fault any of it. Wanted to add that the bacon and sausages etc were all cooked properly! Well done.

Service was good. However, the food was terrible, nobody on our table overly enjoyed their meal. I ordered a medium cooked steak, which came out well done. Doubt I'll visit again. Gone are the times of good pubs, with good food.

Very good service, but my husband couldn't eat his steak pie full of fat, my chicken was delicious. Manageress sorted our complaint our to our satisfaction.

Service was extremely slow, although maybe understandable given the number of diners. The bread selection in the bread and oil was disappointing - neither pitta bread or ?giant croutons soak up much oil - although the oil and balsamic was good. The mains varied in quality: roast pork (7/10); Korean chicken (5/10 - and slightly underdone, possibly because of its thickness) and the fish 8/10. Staff were pleasant.

Garden is beautiful with gorgeous views out to the countryside, pub has loads of character and a beautiful conservatory where you can sit and enjoy the views, we decided to eat in the garden as it was a lovely day, they have a bar area in the garden which looked new and my husband was impressed with the Ales that they had on tap. Food was lovely, between us we had a range from fish to pie, I had a burger and everyone really enjoyed the food. Price was very reasonable, Will definitely be returning.

My Family and I had a great Evening at The Green Man, yesterday. Lovely atmosphere with the real fire, good beer and 4 really nice meals. Friendly and helpful staff member too.

Whats not to like at the Green Man in Offley. Amazing food, with great service and fab location.. cant wait to visit again. I had the seabass which was amazing!

Barman was miserable verging on rude. He gave wrong information regarding the use of the AA card which gives a percentage off. The food I had was awful. Dry and tasteless. Definitely not going back!!!

I love this pub. It's a half hour drive from home but worth it. Being a Chef and Brewer we can use our Tesco vouchers towards the bill, which always helps if there's a lot of you. The venue is gorgeous, lovely sunny terrace with views in the summer and warm, cosy wood fires in the winter. The service was a bit slow in the summer but it was really busy. We had breakfast there on Saturday and we were the only ones there for the first half an hour. Food and service were fantastic. The veggie breakfast and pancake stack were delicious! Totally recommend.

Excellent meal enjoyed by 7 of us. Pork belly delicious and tender. Steak and ale pie was very tasty as was the lasagne and chicken curry. Grilled fish was wonderful too. Service and atmosphere excellent a very pleasant get together with friends. Thank you Green Man.

Was served today by chole very polite ,very helpful,very professional in her duties as a waitress. Food was excellent generous portions always leave satisfied. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been here previously and the food was at a good standard. however we booked today on the phone for 8:45 and was then rung and told their was a clitch in the system and apparently due to "winter timing" the kitchen closed at 8:30 i know that chef and brewer kitchens shut at 9 so was a little confused by this. could this please be clarified

We went on a busy Friday night, quite a large but cosy pub/restaurant, couple of welcoming open fires burning, and friendly bar staff. The meal in the restaurant was just wonderful, and we were very well looked after by the wonderful Charlotte who went out of her way to ensure that the non-gluten menu was made available!. Honestly, the high quality of the food, the ambiance, and the superb staff there just makes this place. We will return often. Thank you Charlotte!.

Stopped in for lunch on our way to Heathrow - the fried halloumi ciabatta was the star of the show, but the steak ciabatta, beyond burger and scampi were also great. Service a little slow but worth the wait, will be adding it to our itinerary for our next UK trip.

1 star review is a bit harsh so left two, however tried calling ahead of arriving only to be talking to a robot. I arrive and the waiter says they’re not taking in any walk-ins which is fair enough (slightly annoying as I drive 15 minutes) but I book online which scheduled me there for 25 minutes after we walked in. The rude manager then says that they’re not serving any food to anyone because he’s only had one chef on and made it seem like my fault? I still would’ve been fine with it if he wasn’t just so rude

We love this pub, food & atmosphere have always been great and the owner always great too. Sadly on this occasion the food was pretty bad, worst roast ever! Cldnt get a fork or knife in the roast potatoes they were like stones, we complained and they were replaced but the veg was lukewarm, the sirloin beef not great, the veggie Wellington pies had barely any filling and 1 was burnt, the rib beef was lovely so 1 good meal out of 4 apart from the potatoes. We complained, roasted potatoes were replaced and 2 meals were taken off bill but the whole experience has put us off revisting. Has the pub changed hands? Must be a different chef the meals were just way below the standard ud expect anywhere tbh. The server/waitress was very nice and did all she could to rectify things and apologise but it wasn't her fault. The people next to us complained as they left to us that they also had an awful meal but when I told the waitress she said they'd said nothing to her but alot of people don't like to complain I guess for various reasons. Would like to know why it was all wrong on this occasion so that were confident to try again, shame as weve always enjoyed this pub in the past.

Service is still not great and the wait for food still hasn't improved. Food was ok though.

Was very busy and had to wait over an hour for food, when it did arrive the chips were luke warm as was the mushy peas, my friends onion rings were overcooked and hard, but the serving staff were very attentive and friendly especially Alison

Staff were so helpful and chatty. Food was wonderful. We had fish and chips. Batter wasn't greasy and the best chips I've had in a long time. Thanks and would recommend this place.

Superb Sunday meal, efficient service; well paced. Children’s menu is good quality & can be smaller portions of adult menu. All round a very enjoyable experience.

Meal was lovely and we didn't have to wait very long for it. Staff were attentive, but not intrusive.

I am a coeliac and found they have a great system of using a special tablet to enter your dietary requirements to safely order from their menu. Service was superb from Tom. Food was very tasty and served quickly despite them being busy.

We came for an early family Christmas meal and were served by Sam; who was really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us! Great service. Food was really good and we had a really nice time, thank you!

Good service and good food in a relaxing atmosphere.

I had booked a table for two. When arrived I waited at arrival desk and the young waiter checked us in with no smile and just pointed at a table very close to a crowded table. We asked to move to one of other empty tables and the waiter reluctantly accepted. The other waiter arrived to take the order for drinks. When I asked for Stella larger and 7up for my partner, she abruptly with no word of sorry, said “no we don’t do them”. So we had to choose what the available drinks were. Then ordered well done sirloin steak that arrived very tough. We had asked for English mustard that didn’t arrive and had to find a waiter to get one. I had used this pub some time ago and found the staff polite and with excellent food but sadly not this time. I will not use this pub again.

A lovely pub, we have been going off and on for years, with a traditional pub and lounge but also with a huge conservatory for food and those grey days.’ A good selection of food and options as well as children’s menu. Plenty of parking too. On our most recent visit they muddled up the orders so we had a longer wait but they gave us a discount to compensate this.

We went to the Green man on Sunday 8th October for a birthday lunch. The pub is beautiful and the staff were overall attentitive despite how busy it was but did forget a coffee order at the end of the meal. Sadly the food was dissapointing. Every dish apart from the garlic bread (which was very good!) and calamari was poor especially considering the price. My husband had the game mixed grill and it was very overcooked and dry; my son had a sunday lunch which contained overcooked grey veg, hard peas, raw brocolli and dry roast potatoes; and my fish and chips was dry and chewy. We are likely to return for drinks as the pub is in a beautiful setting with lovely views but we are very unlikely to eat here again after a dissapointing dining experience.

I’ve been here sporadically over the years and it’s always been a good place to visit. Food is good, there is a good choice to choose from and also drink. They’ve introduced a bar outside now and there is a lovely few over the fields so it’s good for a few drinks in the summer.

Took my mother who was visiting and wasn't disappointed. Lovely food, great service. A good variety of menu choices and specials. I would go again!

Waited 10-15 mins for order to be taken but after that the service was very good, as was the food !

If you want to eat something good, go to the Green Man pub. I didn't expect to be so nice and such a good food into a small village.

Very well appointed restaurant area, fresh and more works on going giving more out door options for dinners and other guests. Not your average pub grub more gourmet without being poncey and great portion sizes

Food was excellent except for an overcooked lasagne which was taken off the bill, no complaints.

Cracking quick lunch, we had steak Ciabatta sandwiches, wonderful views and cheery staff. All good.

Great views across Herts and Beds on a sunny day. Nice garden and conservatory with lots of seating. Staff were friendly and service was good. We had the standard Sunday lunch, and fish and chips. Coffee was good.

What a great place. I visited with my father who is a fussy eater these days at 95 but I needn't have worried. The cod and chips were excellent with a decent piece of tasty and chunky fish which was very welcome. The bakewell tart for dessert with custard was divine. Thanks to Nina for terrific, engaging service.

Service quite slow, no french mustard for the steaks and it was obvious some of the veg's. had been under the heat light for a long time, other wise the food was good.

Great country pub. I have the Soy Pork belly was amazing!!! Nina was lovely and very attentive. Will come again!

I had the vegetarian roast... a mushroom Wellington with all the trimmings and balsamic gravy... really tasty. My partner had Duo of Korean Chicken... which again I would have had but a bit too healthy for him. He had a pint of Moretti & I had a large Rioja. He had chocolate sundae and I had tge brownie with vegan coconut ice-cream. Yum yum. Total just over £60 - not bad for 2 mains, 2 drinks and 2 puds.

Very quiet on arrival but soon filled up, lovely food , friendly staff. Very enjoyable visit.

Well i went here for lunch for the first time with my daughter today 25th August 2023. The place was very busy' outstanding views over the country side Lovely out side dining' and inside. We had stater'Main meal and desert. Very well presented. Good portions. Nice staff. Especially Tom and Allison' Thank you. We were there fir just over 2 hours. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be going there again Lovely place for special occasions ' I truly recommend this lovely place.

Lovely had the best beef steak ciabatta meal, defo coming back for that dish again. Always a bonus when you ask for rare it actually came out rare and not medium. Super tasty and fabulous view.

Visited this restaurant last night to celebrate my 40th Birthday - the food is absolutely divine 😋 We would highly recommend the Signature Burger, Ribeye Steak, and Steak & Ale pie - 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 And the puddings... I could have eaten a second one. It was my first time at The Green Man and it most certainly won't be the last. Thank you so much for the amazing menu and food... Gin was very nice too
