The best restaurants in Hitchin Highbury North Hertfordshire East of England

I came here with my family at the weekend and we all really enjoyed the food. The fish cake and haddock were well cooked. The chocolate moose for dessert was delicious. It was strangely quiet, possibly just due to it being Sunday evening.

It's a small place but great food and wonderful service. Highly recommended if looking for a great Japanese food.

Came in for food this afternoon and the new trainee Zack served me, who was very helpful and seemed to be picking things up quite well! Food was delicious as always, lovely vibe at the bar

Today was my first visit to Lussmans. I was dining with my 88 year old bestie for her birthday and had advised the restaurant in advance that she has some sight and mobility issues (and also that she'd love a birthday fuss!). They could not have been kinder and friendlier; she was genuinely touched. The food was also delicious and good value for money. Prices are what they are these days, and I think I'm often a bit disappointed with how good things actually taste vs what they cost, but both my friend and I really enjoyed each of our 3 courses (one on the set menu, one a la carte) and didn't begrudge the bill at all. I look forward to returning with other friends and family. Thank you.

Really enjoyable food, fresh ingredients and served really well. Service initially was good yet many missed opportunities to make additional sales from us. We asked many times for extra drinks and told yes-yes we come to you, nobody did. Anyway, like I said, the food was great.

First time at this venue. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Choices on offer are huge, food and drinks were above expectations. One small point is that prices of many items are not printed on the menu. Surely it's not assumed that all customers are so affluent as to not need to know in advance what they're to pay.

Amazing food, we keep coming back for more! Every time we visit, we are never disappointed with our meal choices, so tasty and with a great variety of choice. All the staff here are friendly and admittedly during busy periods we can be left waiting up to an hour for a takeaway, but the staff inform us of this before placing our order and it's well worth the wait.

The ambiance and quirkiness was wonderful and the cakes we had where good but oh the coffee. I ordered a cafetiere for one and was actually gobsmacked to see the server pour coffee from the filter machine into the cafetiere, the coffee had obviously been standing for some time judging by the taste. My wife did not believe me, so I attempted to find coffee grounds in the bottom of the cafetiere. Will not be visiting again.

Lovely place, very clean, excellent service. Staff were very attentive but not overbearing. Delicious food, great prices. Would definitely go again if in Hitchen.

Such a lovely owner and an amazing smoothie, she really took the time to make sure it was right and had so much pride in her products, my partner drank the smoothie in about 5 minutes it was so nice 😊

I hadn’t had chips from Murphy’s in ages so I thought I’d give it a go. I cycled home, opened the chips and realised I had been given reheated chips that had been clearly cooked much earlier in the evening. I was so hungry I thought I’d eat them anyway, but the taste wasn’t good at all. They had clearly been cooked in dirty oil. Please use clean oil!!

A fascinating evening in the coolest place around. Live music, people having fun...it's been too long.

I discovered this place while visiting some friends that live in Hitchin. We wanted ice cream and found this nice little place. Tables and chairs in the front reminded us of our hometown cafe terrazas in Spain. The gelato was really good, and best of all, all the flavours they had at the time were gluten free! 100% recommend this place and I will be coming back next time I'm in Hitchin.

Without doubt this is the best traditional greasy spoon I've found in Hitchin - a really good generous portion of cooked to order breakfast for just £3.50, superb value.
