Little Monkey in North Hertfordshire

Longest wait for take out and completely ignored. I know busy, but still if the place wants you to come back….make the effort to acknowledge a paying customer who has a young family and just wants there take out in under an hour! They said 50 mins on the delivery note !

This is a street food restaurant , It only has 8 tables so we got there early. The food is cooked in front of you and served piping hot. My husband had the soup and it comes hot and spicy. I had the chicken wings and there were 6 pieces. I had to share them with my husband. We had a green curry and that too was spicy but delicious. If you want real Thai this is the place.

My first time trying Thai Food in Hitchin at Little Monkey. What a fantastic experience. Staff were very nice, warm & friendly. We ordered food for a group of 10 people and we were all amazed at the quality and variety and freshness of the food. Very tasty, enjoyable an explosion of pure deliciousness in your mouth. Everyone was very happy. Would definitely recommend this Restaurant and the Food. Very authentic dishes. Next time I’m back in Hitchin Little Monkey will definitely be my go to number one Restaurant. We all loved the food that much we didn’t have time to take photos.

Superb Pad Thai Prawn, spicy Thai crisps to die for. Always super friendly and great value for money. Quality can’t be surpassed

Great food if you're prepared to wait. Unfortunately the restaurant does not offer delivery, it's collection only.. the other downside being that whenever they give a collection time it's always 20-30 minutes later. Not great when you've already driven to collect.

Little Monkey serve the best Thai food outside of Thailand. The staff are brilliant and friendly especially Jen. I have not had a sit down meal but it is always busy which evidences how good the food is. You med to try it out!

Ate here for the first time a little while back and even as I walked up to collect my takeaway lunch, I was treated to a hit of wonderful aromas. I had the Pork Belly Bonfire. It was amazing. The pork was delicious and had a nice crispy top to it. The sauce just smacks you in the face with full explosion of flavour. The accompanying vegetables are really well cooked and the rice was perfect. The ingredients taste really fresh and the flavours are really incredible. I have not been to Thailand but love Thai food and this is the best I have had. I was given a free can of drink to accompany my meal. The staff were really nice and polite. Will be coming back again and again. Thank you for a delicious lunch.

One of the best places to eat in hitchin. Everything we have tried on this menu has been amazing. Lunch deal is great too and you don't feel stuffed after. It is a small place so it's got a more sit down and go atmosphere. There was a kids menu too. Staff are very friendly even accommodated and gave our boy ice cream even though they didn't have a pudding menu (which they don't need)

Have eaten in this restaurant a number of times and are never disappointed. The service and the food are always superb. There's even Thai wine to accompany the meal. Will definitely be back

Everything here is fresh and top quality. One time I got there too early for my takeaway they said to pop to the pub and then they would bring the food around! Best customer service ever! Love it

Positives: the people here are the real deal - Thai people making nice dishes, almost entirely authentic. Negatived: if you order drinks, they serve the drinks at the same time as the food. So, if you order wine or beer, this can sometimes be 30 minutes. Even if you ask them for the drinks to be served earlier, it doesn’t happen. My main gripe with the food, is that they often served red curry with bell pepper - this is absolutely not authentic Thai. And the menu, it’s tinkered with way too often. Just keep it simple. I love it here. I just wish they stuck to their true Thai authenticity and kept things a little more simple. Krab!

This was our first takeaway from Little Monkey. It was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be having another from there. Highly recommend.

Couple dining out Great menu. Fantastic tasty food. Good service. Had one of our best Thai meals there. Salt and pepper squid, chicken wings, breadcrumb prawns for starters. Bonfire pork belly and 3 musketeers triple curry for mains. All lovely. Only negative for us was we sat at the front by the window and seemed to get choked by what must have been the fumes from cooking. Chillis maybe.

Best Thai food I've had in a long time. We had tempura prawns, crispy squid and ribs to start, was so good we were licking our fingers! Then the triple curry and pork belly with holy basil, everything was so tasty. And so reasonably priced. Will def be going back, hopefully every week 😁

Seriously TOP Beef Massamam wow wow WOW! They were very nice for my friend on her birthday and brought her ice cream at the end of the meal. Squid for starter was also delicious. I ate too many chillis trying to prove I was a MAN to my friends though haha. So painful. Great meal THANKS!

The food is absolutely delicious, prawn toast the best ever, green curry and ginger tofu just amazing fresh flavours. It would be good to have more vegetarian options as we could only find a couple on the menu.

The food was simply amazing when it can as service was a bit slow and it was super cold as the front door was open throughout the entire time. But the staff were really friendly and polite and again all the food we ordered was delicious. On par with some of the best Thai restaurants in London for taste. I would definitely go back and recommend them.

I bought takeaway tonight nothing were Thai authentic. The chicken green curry tasted too much fragrance, som tum was blend and not hot. The jasmine rice was stodgy. I had little portions and the rest were wasted. I cook thai food but fancied takeaway tonight. Very disappointed and cost a lot too.

I’m a local. Have eaten here many times and the food is always great. As close to being in Thailand as I’ve got in the UK. Try it!

Booked table for 4 asked if they had room for pram as one guest has newborn, yes no problem, asked for contact number which I gave, we were all so looking forward to our lunch date, however when we arrived the place was locked up with a note on door saying they’d gone away for a short break!!! Well why take my booking ??? If it was an emergency you had my contact details would have been nice to be informed 😡 Four us travelled from way outside the area to come here as a central meet up point, so didn’t want to waste the day, we found another Thai restaurant over the road who could accommodate us at short notice, we had a wonderful time and food and the service was 5star

Very good food on set price lunch menu. My prawn curry excellent. My friend's massaman beef very good too. Only 3 stars for atmosphere as seating outside is on a very noisy road and inside is rather basic

Very authentic Thai! The food tasted unbelievably fresh, as Thai often does, but this was next level. The flavours were immaculate. If I was rich enough, I'd probably eat here every day. 🤤

Converted from a little sandwich bar this resturant only has 6 tables and feels more like a Cafe than a resturant, but don't let this put you off because the food is fabulous. Cooked in front of you in an open kitchen the smells sure get the taste buds going. The food tastes so fresh and a great choice too. It has gone straight into my top 5 places to eat in Hitchin.

Such amazing authentic Thai food. The smell of the restaurant when I walked in to collect my food took me straight back to my travels in Asia. Beef massaman was incredible. The place is nicely furnished too so will definitely be booking a table at some point in the near future!

We popped in for dinner last night, we shared the chicken satay to start, I had the drunken noodles for main and my fiancé had the pad Thai. Not only was it great value, the food was absolutely delicious. Miles ahead of other Thai restaurants in the area. The service was super friendly and attentive. 10/10 would recommend and will be going again

We recently dined in a second time for lunch after our first experience was so good. Cannot fault the food, it's fantastic. Best tom yum soup I've had. Excellent value for money and great service.

We were excited to visit last Wednesday. The lunchtime menu offered great value for 2 courses and a drink and gave us the fabulous reminder of the fresh tastes and aromas of Thailand on a cold winter's day . Highly recommended!

Truly amazing. The weekly set menu is the best deal in Hitchin. Outside of the weekly promo, this is still affordable, great quality, super tasty and a very loyal representation of what you get in Thailand.

Booked for a birthday supper. First table was in a very cold corner ( we didn’t want to eat wearing coats) so asked if we could move to one of the other empty tables. We were moved, not knowing that we would then be asked to pay and leave after 1hr 10 mins ! Quickest £120 we’ve spent! Surely they should have said we couldn’t have the table for the usual 1 1/2 - 2hours ? Food okay - but evening spoilt. Doubt if we will be back.

This is my favourite spot in Hitchin. We eat here at least twice per month and the food never disappoints. The Tom Yum soup in particular is sensational and very reasonably priced especially with the lunch set menu. The owners are always very friendly.

Best thai food around. My wife is thai and refuses to go out to eat thai food until we found this place. The staff are brilliant and always go the extra mile to make the food exactly how we like it.

Second time to dine in. Extremely slow. We waited over an hour for a simple fried rice and fried noodles. The food quality is not as good as last time. They should have told us the slow waiting time when we asked for a table.

Lovely little restaurant. Particularly enjoyed the prawn tempura starter. Chef happy to accommodate changes to dishes for vegetarians. Will certainly be back to try more.

Our 4th visit and it never disappoints! Fresh authentic amazing tasting food! And the service is spot on! The staff is so friendly and welcoming, even brought our take away food into us in the pub next door where we were waiting! Will keep coming back again and again!

One of the best Thai foods I’ve had in the UK - super authentic with depth and rich flavours. Their massaman beef curry and tom yum soup are particular favourites! Recently also tried their special dishes: boat noodle and Tom yum noodles and they did not disappoint. The owners are super friendly and lovely people too!

If you want authentic and freshly cooked Thai food then this is the place to go! Great service, good pricing and very tasty fresh food. Good portions too and well presented. Will be coming back with my friends again!

The food was ok but if you sit in the front room, be prepared as you will be heavily covered by the smell of cooked oil. Your hair, your coat...you literally will need a wash right after the meal.

A lovely Thai restaurant. The food and service was excellent. They had some nice Thai wine too which I recommend. Only gave it 4 stars as the room was very warm and steamy which was a bit uncomfortable at times. But they were very busy. Booking recommended.

The food was great but you really need to get some more staff on a weekend. Ordered a takeaway in the afternoon for a 7pm collect and arrived 5 mins early. However, it was getting close to 7.30pm before all of the order was ready. It was very busy but there was some very disgruntled customers........

We were looking forward to our first take away having read all the positive reviews. We were reminded by email to be on time to collect it and made a point of arriving early. On arrival our order was on the counter and had congealed due to being lukewarm/cold. Only managed to eat 50% of the food and the rest went in the recycling bin. Such a shame.
