The best restaurants in Mid Suffolk East of England

Had an unplanned visit here after a walk over Needham Lakes on a very warm day. So a cool drink and food was certainly welcome. We had two small dogs, so we had to sit outside. That's OK, a nice day and plenty of tables outside, and a large grassed area up the steps beside the inn. Inside the inn it looked clean and the staff were friendly, quite a good selection of drinks. Food selection was good and they had a few specials, what we ordered was brought to our table outside, quite trek for the server, up the steps but they were obviously used to it the way they managed to traverse the steps with a large tray full of food and condiments. Delivered with a smile and made sure we had everything we wanted. Food was tasty and good temperature, plenty of it as well. In all a pleasant visit, prices reasonable and compares well with similar establishments. I would visit again but I would expect for the less able, they would need to be inside or on the one table I saw at ground level. I didn't see a wheelchair access but there may have been another entrance I didn't see. The entrance we went in had steps and would have been very difficult to get a wheelchair through, there are also steps to the toilets.

Never been to this pub before it was a wonderful experience. Everything was fabulous, the atmosphere, the food ( Sunday lunch), attentive and friendly staff, really couldn't fault it. The roast was top notch, a hearty plate full, and desert of brownie and ice cream just finished it off splendidly. Couldn't praise this place enough, will definitely return.

What a lovely friendly family oriented Pub & Dinner so clean and inviting. We had the smoked brisket and it was to die for. We will be going again, probably next week with daughter’s, grandchildren and Storm the spaniel. I am happy to recommend this eatery. Excellent all round. Bob Bruce

Chicken Chow mein with no vegetables as requested also had no noodles. Egg fried rice very dry. Plain noodles should have been named vegetable noodles.

My son and granddaughter chose to bring me here for an early Mother's Day meal, I'd not been to The Dog since my husband died. We were warmly welcomed, the service was friendly and expert and the food was delicious! Couldn't wish for better!

Enjoyed a lovely evening great atmosphere great service and excellent quality of food and drink. Service was professional and very attentive and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Would highly recommend.

Managed to take a late birthday booking for 11. Even put banners up. Great home cooked food and value for money. Will be definitely back again.

Ordered a drink and the barista made a face and turned to her colleague who rolled her eyes and also made a face, then ignored us when asked what the issue was. Found this incredibly rude, which made our visit very uncomfortable and won't be returning to this cafe.

I am regular here and have tried lots of dishes. No its not restaurant grade as expected as all chinese takeaway places arnt! Ignore all the bad reviews about this place. People just love to dish it out dont they.. its good tasty food. 😋

Had an amazing time at the crown last night. Wonderful service from the moment I walked in. Marni on the bar was really informative and Sian who delivered my food was very polite. Would certainly recommend to my friends and family.

We’d both just like to thank you for a great few days. You have a lovely place, our room was very comfortable and clean and had all we required. The kings head itself is a real gem, it was like stepping back in time. We were made to feel very welcome which helped to make our visit to Suffolk so enjoyable. The breakfasts were perfect and the evening meals were more than we could have hoped for, absolutely delicious. I stayed here for two nights this week and found it to be excellent. I stayed in one of there spacious lodges and nice shower room and the breakfast and evening meals I had was excellent the service was good as well.

Great pub, great atmosphere, local treasure, no cooked food, very well kept beers, free house, owner managed, real fire, traditional village pub.

just recently the special chicken has been " over done" this is really bad chef ing ... the special chicken should not be burnt on the under side . some one is not concentrating . very disapointing .. francis
