Elmswell Chinese Takeaway in Mid Suffolk

Staying in Elmswell for a few nights and went to this Chinese. Really enjoyed the food. I’m vegan and so always cause maximum levels of awkwardness everywhere I go! The staff were really accommodating - taking the time to go through all the possible dishes I could have. Throughly recommend and would go again for sure.

This is a delicious Chinese restaurant. There are not many varieties, but the taste is very good. I will buy it next time.

The hole Chinese was very greasy it lacked flavour and meat was very scarce for a village Chinese you would think they could do a lot better

Food was cold considering I had to stand for 10mims to wait for food when I’d ordered on phone 30 mins before arriving to then stand for 10mins. I’m less that 10 minutes away from the Chinese. I made it less then they did from the menu that is available to pick up from the shop, there prices must be different on computer. Food had no taste whatsoever will not be returning anytime soon……

It's not great, it's not bad. It fills a hole and there's not a lot else to say. If you're looking for a Chinese meal, you're hungry and you're not too fussy, it'll fit the bill. For example, anything 'crispy' ordered will be limp and lacklustre, at best.

Good service, food was ready when I arrived to collect, everything was hot and tasted lovely. Only wish they did delivery!

My family and I had our first takeaway from here for Chinese New Year and were so impressed. Everything was gorgeous and couldn’t be faulted in any way.

I passed by here and ordered a few dishes. The taste was good, the staff was friendly and I was very happy to have such good food.

Excellent Chinese food. Good severice. Cook fast and taste very nice. I will share to my friends order food from here.

Excellent food, good range, reasonable prices. Shame they only take cash or cheque and no off-road parking

Stayed locally on holiday and phoned up for a takeway. We had the special fried rice, special fried noodles, sweet & sour chicken and prawn crackers. We arrived at the agreed time and the food was ready waiting in a thermal box. All the food was extremely tasty and plenty of it. Excellent takeway!

The best Chinese food. foods is value and very good sevecies. I like sweet&sour chicken ball. Rice and chow mein and many chef's special. cooking fast and food tasy nice. I Will come again.

Honestly the best Chinese ever!!!!! If I could I would eat here every single night as they have really quick service and delicious food!

I live in village where this takeaway is located. Service is usually quick & the food is tasty. Never really had a problem with this Chinese takeaway.

Good but not great. Absolutely fine for a takeaway but had better/much better!! The staff are lovely, front of house and in the kitchen, and food is fast. We really enjoyed the chicken chow mein, special spicy garlic chicken and chicken balls, but felt the 1/2 I’d duck had dry meat and fatty skin (as apposed to crispy!), the rice was quite oily and yellow. If this was my local I guess I would work out what I liked and didn’t and by the time I came to order again I’d be more satisfied. I’m sure we will eat from here again.

Ordered a few dishes , delicious and lots of !! Will definitely use regularly. Friendly owners and staff and you can see the food being cooked .

Consistent and quick. Tasty food generally ready in 10-15 mins. Ideal as just down the road but every now and again there is a bum dish. Cheap enough though so can't really complain!

This is a take away Chinese establishment. The food is very good and prices are reasonable. Staff are very friendly and service is excellent.

Good food, well priced and very tasty takeaway! Come here a lot and the staff are always friendly. Parking can be a bit difficult though sometimes have to park in the pub and walk over.

Lovely food at a reasonable price. The satay chicken was a little hotter than expected but was delicious. Shame they don't deliver but was worth driving to.

Was a bit put off by others reviews on here but decided to ignore them and give it a go. Whilst not the best Chinese food I have ever eaten it was tasty and good value and I would eat from here again.

Had a takeaway from here with the family, we were all very impressed and thought the food was of good standard. Food was hot which is the main thing when having a takeaway! Would eat from here again.

Yo y mi padre fue y pedimos un chino ver dos amables pero ni idea adolescentes luchando para mantener la demanda de los pedidos. Al ver nuestra comida prepara uno de los chefs cayó una pelota de cerdo y uno de los trabajadores adolescentes recogido y estaba preparando para poner en nuestra bolsa de comida cuando los otros me miraban y le dije que lo puso en la papelera. Aparte de eso, la comida era normal, que colma y sabía bien. Sólo ir allí en veces desesperadas

Ordered lemon chicken without batter which was an option brilliant , ordered bbq ribs , and chicken chow mein got home only a short drive . Unpacked it to find chicken and pineapple , chow mein was not over hot and looked strange. But as hungry ate it only to find it was very cold , ribs the fat had gone thick and solid totally unexceptable . We would of took it back but as having a little one to deal with not easy! Phoned the shop but the young person seving was understanding but the owners could not care. My partner phoned back as I was still not satisfied with the customer care did take our name and said we could have 11.00 towards the next food but unsure if I ever want to eat there food again ! Waste of a good hard earned 15.00 never again!

I put terrible but it was worse then terrible even on the door the hygiene mark is poor. I wouldn't even bother going to try it, it all tastes the same burnt.

My parents have just moved to Elmswell and they hadn't yet had an oven installed so we thought we'd try the local Chinese. After seeing mixed reviews on here I didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. They took our order over the phone and we went to collect it. Everything was correct and it was all really nice. We had a chow mein, chicken balls, special fried rice, prawn crackers and a plum pork dish. I'd happily recommend any of these and I'd definitely go there for a takeaway again.

Foul disgusting burnt measly portions this is not a Chinese at all. I will report to trading standards. DONT waste your hard earned money. They should not be allowed to trade

Went here as a friend highly recommended it. Now had this Chinese four times, here's our experiences:1) food was great, no actually best Chinese we've tried! Not dry just right on sauces. Chicken cooked just right not too dry or wet etc. everyone throughly enjoyed.2) same as last time only chow mien was a little burnt. (A fair point we all have down days)3) burnt chow mein, dry chicken, over cooked rice. Totally disappointing to last two visits. 4) ordered in shop, was told there was one hours wait, went to pub opposite for the hour. Went to collect food, was told we took too long and food needs reheating. Other half said not to worry as we had to travel home and would do it there (mainly chips). By the time we got home was totally cold (also our fault as we live 30mins away) again chow mien was burnt, rice was dry, chicken balls over cooked, sweet and sour sauce shortage. All round totally disappointing.So sad as we thought we had really found a keeper of a Chinese, these seem to be very hard to come by these days. Will leave it a few months and see how things are and try again. But for now we will personally hold of and go to mister wings in Ipswich. Will re do another review when we've been again

Good food at great prices.always hot and never have to wait for too long. Do not take bank card or deliver

After seeing all these reviews, I wasn't too sure about going there. However I still tried it out because my friends said the foods are nice and I'm a massive Chinese lover. When I went there 3 weeks ago, it surprised me that they had a open kitchen but it was interesting to see the cooking process, plus the kitchen was clean. The foods was hot, service was QUICK and I loved the sweet&sour chicken dish. Since then, I've been going there quite regularly. Haven't had any problem with the foods and no complaints from my friends either.

For the love of God, avoid this place at all costs. They put something in the food which made half the house vomit and the other half... Well, they needed the toilet for something else entirely. None of us had the same thing. Fast service, but it can't have taken long for them to make something that bad. If you value your stomach and your bowels, A V O I D.

this chinese should be re-named the dirty wok as all the food was the same horrible brown colour and all tasted like nothing on earth. if this is the best they can do i suggest they give up now to save them self further embarrassment

I have tasted many Singapore from many Chinese restaurants/takeaways, up and down the country. Its my favourite Chinese (Singapore) Dish.And this ranks up there with the best. I am yet to try anything else from there, but judging by this alone, its worth trying.

we ordered a take away and when we got back the order was wrong which spoilt our meal as we got given meat when we are vegetarian, we telephoned them and said we didnt want the right dish as by the time we drove back, everything else would be cold then, we asked for a refund for the wrong dish, we were shocked that they rang us back twice to argue with us about this - which is dreadful customer service !!!!!! just forget it never ever before have i had a restaurant or take away argue with the customer when they have got it wrong - this is a new low in customer service !

I'm a regular at this takeaway and it has never disappointed me before. From what I've heard, the new owner is cutting down the amount of MSG which is really bad for your health and yet the food still taste as amazing as before! The service now is so much quicker! I would definitely recommend this takeaway to anyone who loves chinese!

Seriously seriously disappoint. Hadn't visted for several months after discovering golden garden delivery service from stowmarket. But heard hands had changed here, it was late so gave it s shot. Authentic this is definitely not. Noodles cold, vegetables tuff, clearly just flashed in a pan. Egg fried rice was brown and tasteless. Looked again like it had been microwaved with some soy sauce. Even the pot of sauce was just cold gelatine I had to microwave when I got home. 10 years ago this place was packed and couldn't be beaten. I fear the future of this establishment.
