China City take Away in Mid Suffolk

Wow. Waited for hours. Kept calling to check and the food was always “just on its way now”. Gave up on 2+ hours.

Food is consistantly tasty , good portions , amazing chunky prawn toast!!

Thai green curry that is a pasty white colour. No lemongrass whatsoever. Nasty , thrashy Chinese takeaway food. Please save your money.

Staff were nice, food wasn't very nice. Chicken and pork were dry and hard, battered spring rolls not very pleasant and very oily, smoked chicken and salt and Pepper chips both soggy. Tried it on recommendation but won't rush back.

It was a pleasure to order, the food was delivered quickly and it was still hot in hand. Very delicious, especially the salt shrimp, Kung Pao shrimp, and salt and pepper bones. The kids loved it!

Possibly the most disgusting take away I’ve ever wasted my time and money on. After an hour and a half wait, even though my kids were literally starving , they still didn’t want to eat it The Thai green curry was a gelatinous white, goo that tasted like fish sauce and off cream. (Maybe don’t order Thai from a take away called Chinese City, even if front of their menu states Chinese and Thai food) The BBQ ribs had no flavour some were just strips of cartilage and the couple that were actual ribs looked like the meat had been cut off for use in another dish. The Chinese curry sauce tasted ok, and would’ve been acceptable if I’d ordered an onion and pea curry, not chicken. The special fried rice was totally bland… I could continue moaning about the other dishes, but you get the picture. The only positive about this place is the guy who took my order over the phone, he was polite and professional Don’t waste your money, this is the worst Chinese takeaway in Stowmarket

Great little take away. Really friendly people and terrific food and value. It's cash only, but there is an ATM a couple of doors down. Recommended.

Have ordered from them and i must say the food is pretty bland... I mean its edible at least the prawn toast and curry triangles tasted alright but the main dish was pretty avarage or rather below avarage....

Love this Chinese takeaway, always use this one. Only one complaint. Had 4 pieces of mushroom, only one mushroom and a very small one. I will ask for more nxt time...

Red Thai curry was basically just boiled chewy meat in really sweet coconut milk .wasn’t even red or spicy .

Terrible food!!! Worst I have ever had from a Chinese takeaway anywhere!!! Full of huge chunks of green pepper flat and greasy pancake rolls lumps of boiled then fried soggy tasteless chicken and meat!! And expensive!! The majority of our meal ended up in the bin!! On the Whole, an insult to Cantonese cuisine. You can only pay in “cash” no card payments! No receipts!! A bit of an anomaly these post-Covid days!! But very convenient for China City!! if not for you!!! Stay clear!!!….

Hi my last order didn't smell to great it was the duck and I heard that you also buy ducks from customers locally that they have road killed, I'm not happy with service either.

A great big thank you to China City, who very kindly donated some Chinese Food for Juniors, at Boys Brigade, to taste tonight, celebrating Chinese New Year. The children thorougjly enjoyed the evening with the chicken balls, prawn crackers and Chow mein being favourites. The children went home full, with menus and fortune cookies. Thank you once again.

Tonight at Boys Brigade we celebrated Chinese New Year. The food we had delivered from China City was hot, delicious and enjoyed by a group of 15 people. The delivery driver was very friendly and arrived at the arranged time. Definitely recommend and will be using again.

I'm only giving them 1 star because they answered the phone booked a delivery at 4.15 for a delivery at 7 phoned at 7.30 they said it will be another 45 minutes not as if there the best

We had a meal for all the family . We was halve way eating when my son sound a black pin in the food which could have done lot of damage We rang them and all thay said was we can have 10% of what a joke

They used to marinate the chicken. They now just boil it and it's not very nice, don't know what has happened

I've been coming here regularly for a few years now and the food has always been good. The service is friendly & efficient. It can get very busy so I recommend ringing your order through in advance if you are collecting. My only slight gripe is that they only take cash or cheques - no cards.

Remember folks this is my opinion. Whether you live in Stowmarket or surrounding villages China City in Wolsey Road Stowmarket is well worth a visit I believe it is the best quality and flavoured Chinese you will get around the area.like all food it is personal taste if you haven't been there give it a try.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery to the door, was advised a 40 min delivery service, it arrived after 15 mins, the food was piping hot, it tasted great and they threw in a portion of crackers for free, would definitely place further business

35£ well and truly wasted. Order from anywhere else and the order will most likely arrive quicker. When food finally arrived it was cold and needed to be reheated. The food is not worth the money as it tastes vile after a reheat. May as well put the money spent on the food into anything else.

Went to get takeaway. Hadnt eaten all day. Started with severe stomach cramps then excessive diarrhoea. I strongly recommend that you avoid this den of filth. If i could award no stars i would.

Ordered a takeaway on a Saturday evening. Delivery time was fair but that was all that was good if i'm honest. ChowMein ordered was awful. I ordered Duck and Pork on rice, when it arrived it had no duck included. My wife ordered vegetable spring rolls as she is vegetarian. They included small pieces of chicken. I confirmed this when she showed me. Absolutely digusting.

This is my ‘go to’ Chinese restaurant in Stowmarket. A large choice of dishes, all competitively priced. I haven’t had a bad experience here and would recommend. The only thing I wish they would sort out is a card reader machine. The cash only situation isn’t ideal and I’m sure it puts people off as it can be inconvenient.

Best Chinese food in stowmarket and very friendly staff

I have used this takeaway for several years and the food is always good. It is cooked well, tastes great and there is plenty of it. The premises is very clean. It is very popular so delivery can be a little slow but it is a lot quicker if you phone in advance to collect it, but it's well worth the wait.

Very hard to understand on the phone when ordering takeaway resulting with the wrong food being delivered and after immediately ringing them to see if it was able to swap the meal for the right one, We were told it’s not possible because it is our fault as it should have been corrected at time of order.

Tried all the Chinese restaurants in Stowmarket a few times before making China City my first choice. Polite, quickly delivery and most importantly, the food is consistently tasty.

I bought a takeaway on New Year's Eve (2017). I am half-Chinese myself. I often test out a new restaurant by ordering one of two dishes, which are hard to get right. On this occasion, I had Singapore rice vermicelli. It was not only delicious, but it was the right consistency (which is the bit that some places cannot get right, making it too soggy.) I also had their Fried squid with Salt and Pepper, which was cooked very well too.

Can’t find any fault at all from the meals we have had from here. All have been good and really flavourful. Definitely recommend.

Been here a couple of times when the one beside it is shut. Never had any issues. Food seems fresh and tasty. Prices reasonable to the large portions given.
