Happy House in Mid Suffolk

We were staying locally for a few days. Called & ordered then went to collect. Lovely customer service & the food was incredible! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Having been a regular for over 15 years this Saturdays experience has been a total let down On being advised that our order would be ready for 6.30, we were dismayed that collection was at 6.53, whilst numerous clients came in and had there orders dispatched prior to us. My own order,S55,Babi Bangen,was plain and no spices at all had been added. Not impressed with the service or meal at this visit,

Excellent food and generous portion sizes, ordered by phone and collected in person, was ready when I arrived. We will definitely be visiting again.

I've used the Happy house for several years now for a Chinese takeaway. It's worth the drive to for the food. Prices are good ( a big draw), the lad at the counter is always polite and friendly ( I remember him being alot younger serving and always been the same). The fact they're usually always quite busy is statement in itself really

Tried Happy House for the first time as new to the aera, I must say the food was excellent, containers were bulging cant believe how much food they could fit in them.

Recently stated using this place, food is fantastic! My only complaint is that they don’t take a name when taking phone orders so, you have relay your order to them rather than just giving a name

Just started going back again to the Happy House after afew years. The food is good, well packaged, hot and tasty, we recommend the set menu for two very good value. The service is very good and your made welcome and you get a free bag of crackers! As just a takeaway the atmosphere is busy, theres alittle tv on while you wait.

Really disappointed! Saved all my pennies so that I could enjoy a takeaway. Ordered crispy duck, which was not crispy and seemed slimy under the skin. Butterfly King prawns were very over cooked. Used to be the best, dont know what has happened. I will say that the gentleman on the till was really friendly.

Terrible,tried twice now,food tasteless with just a salty/sweet flavour,curry sauce worst I've ever tasted.awful! Will not be back.

Please avoid this place. We’ve lived in the village for over 2 years and we decided to give these guys a chance again because maybe they’re different due to previously bad experiences but no…the food is absolutely disgusting. I don’t understand how some people recommend this place compared to rosy lees! Tasteless and revolting. As part of many people, we do not recommend.

In terms of atmosphere it is a takeaway so nothing special inside. But there are always mags/papers to read while you wait. They're fast and the food is really tasty. The best in the local area.

Really good Chinese that we use regularly. Really good menu with a huge variety. Prices are very reasonable and waiting times aren't very long at all. Service is always friendly and the free prawn crackers are always welcome.

They do not take poo sacks out of prawns before or even after cooking.. . Was on the toilet for a week.. Food is very bland. Tried different foods from this place off the menu.. it's all nasty. Yuk... had a special fried rice from here last night. Stuff in it was unidentifiable. ...!!

Having recently moved into the area, we decided to try this takeaway restaurant in Eye. We ordered the 'Chef's Special' set menu for three and were delighted with the quality and portion size - in fact this would have been quite adequate for four persons. Pleasant staff and convenient on-street parking (if you're lucky!). I would highly recommend the New Happy House and we hope to order from them again soon.

Placed order tonight to be collected at 5.50 arrived at 5.45 couldn't find my order then when they did I sat waiting till 6.20 for my order to appear seeing numerous people in this time come in order pay and walk out with their food. Very sorry for the wait was all I received.. Not good enough very poor customer service. Wont be recommending this take away any time soon. The food was not up to standard either.

Awful food ..... the worst Chinese I'd ever eaten !!! Even my dogs turned their nose up at it. Rang was offered 20% off next meal wouldn't give them another penny of my money. Avoid

Really disappointing food. The crispy chilli beef was far far too sweet and artificial tasting. Far too much batter rather than any actual beef inside. Chow mein was tasteless with a pathetic amount of chicken. Prawn toast greasy and flavourless. Overall, really disappointing food and will avoid in future.

Good selection of classic takeaway dishes with fast cash only service

Good selection and will do different stuff if you ask ie something not too spicy. Red hot on collection and really enjoyed it.

Admittedly, we went in on a Friday and hadn't pre-ordered, but we ended up waiting for ages because we and our order were sort of forgotten. Food was tasty when we finally got it though.

We love this take away. They are happy to accommodate any requests too, we usually add chillies.

We were glamping down in Suffolk and needed some good takeaway food. This wasn't too far from the site. The place was clean. The portions were big and the food was tasty and of good quality not greasy and proper pieces of meat. Would use again.

Food generally good and staff always cheerful and friendly. Very busy Friday and Saturday evenings though with parking outside a bit of a nightmare. Would recommend ordering in advance by phone then parking at one of the car parks which are only a couple of minutes walk away - much less stressful!

Takeaway only. Cash only. Great food at good prices. Chap on the counter is constantly busy and always smiling. The food is the best in Suffolk that we have tasted, coming from Basildon with 30+ Chinese restaurants...we have been spoilt. However, Happy House does not disappoint. Tasty, hot food exactly how flavoursome you Would expect. Nothing is bland....unlike elsewhere......and there are never any “pings” coming from the kitchen. Would recommend all the dishes equally.

Some of the food was great, some below average. They open on a Tuesday, which few Chinese takeaways do - that's why we went there. They don't take cards, which is a drawback. Service was indifferent.

I've tried quite a few items on the menu and I've found them all to be tasty and well prepared. The portion sizes are good the the prices are reasonable, (I think most places tend to charge the same prices). An added bonus is you will usually get free prawn crackers. The staff are friendly and the order is always ready quickly. If I had to list one negative it's that the phone is normally engaged, but I guess that's a byproduct of being busy. Keep up the great work guys. And on a side note remember to take cash as they don't accept cards. There's a cash point just round the corner.

Arrived at time given after phoning ahead, had to wait over 30 mins for food. Chicken balls were distinctly average, BBQ spare ribs were grisly and chips overcooked. Very disappointed as had not had issues before, will not be going back any time soon.

Amazing food and not a long waiting time

Have had several takeaways from The Happy House. In common with many other Chinese takeaways the crispy beef is more or less just batter. However all the other dishes we have tried have been very good and decent value. Regulars get a bag of crackers and the young lad taking orders is always cheerful. Five star hygiene rating too. Can recommend it.

Friendly staff , very quick service and good tasty food

We didn’t fancy cooking tonight and decided on a Chinese Takaway from The Happy House. We were not disappointed - every dish was superb. Food was piping hot and obviously freshly cooked. Every mouthful was delicious - a flavour sensation. Thank you Happy House

Excellent Chinese very good value

Stayed at cottage locally for few days. Order chinese in one night and were very surprised by quality of food. Haven't had such a good chinese like that in while. Peter

Our first meal and as it was a pre birthday treat we over ordered. The lemon chicken as were the spring rolls delicious. Prawns with pickled ginger and pineapple was very refreshing and how unusual to find pickled ginger. We had the special fried rice but hadn't realised it came with additional meat, and, because of everything else we ordered would have preferrred a more plain rice. Our mistake....our eyes were a little too big. Pork spare ribs were good and unusually for my husband he chewed around the ?bones. Beef in oyster sauce was delicious..... as you will see we ordered far too much but we were delighted with our takeaway meal and will certainly go back. I wonder if they do prawn balls?......

We eat Chinese food a lot and have done in quite a few countries and we really enjoyed our take away here.

You can always rely on getting tasty dishes and a friendly, speedy service, especially if you phone in your order. If you do have to wait for a while, you are usually given a free bag of prawn crackers!

Reasonably priced Chinese food, a great variety is available and all the food is very well packed, and there is lots of it. All very tasty, the portions are perhaps a little large for those wishing to try a variety of dishes unless there are several eaters!! Considering that dishes are prepared to order the waiting time is not too bad. I have only knocked off a star because the very helpful young man behind the counter has talks rather quickly and can be a bit difficult to understand. May seem unfair to cticise this as obviously English is not his first language, but he could slow down a bit !

Lovely staff, excellent service and great food!

67 yrs of age and have lived in various regions in UK and Europe and this take away is the best. The food is great and the staff are special. Decor a bit to be desired but oh boy the rest does not disappoint.

Great, filling, satisfying meal!

We get our Chinese takeaway from Happy House maybe once a month and have done since we moved here two years ago. I've never had a dish which has been less than perfect and never heard anything but positive reviews. The quality is great, and very fairly priced. Parking can be difficult at busy times. But it is worth the walk from the main car park on Buckshorn lane. Overall 10/10

We always used to get our Chinese take away from the happy house under the management of Maggie . Then it changed hands and standards slipped so there were no more Chinese take aways for us! However, we had heard on the grapevine that things had improved lately and so on Saturday we gave it another go and...... It was great! It seems that the Happy House is back on track which is great news!

Having panned Happy House 12 months ago, I am pleased to report that Happy House is back to its best, 3 takeaways in the past 2 weeks have been fresh, tasty and great value, we will happily continue to use them as our preferred Chinese in Eye for the foreseeable future.

Used for first time and very pleasantly surprised. Dishes very well cooked, with generous portions. Excellent fresh and crisply cooked vegetables. Will definitely use again.

This isn't the finest cuisine you'll find anywhere, but the food is prepared fresh and extremely fast, it consistently tastes good, the portions are big, the prices fair and the boy on the counter is the cutest thing since pumpkin pie.It's takeaway only, and they don't take cards. 5 star hygiene rating, unlike Lee's Cottage, the dilapidated run-down rival at the other end of town. They scored 1 on their latest rating ("major improvement required) which oddly enough they don't advertise.I'd choose this place any day over them.

The menu is excellent, a wide variety of dishes on offer, and difficult to choose from. The Staff are very friendly and so is the owner.

We ate here in January 2015 just after the New Year. The restaurant is rather cramped. Service rather slow but we enjoyed the meal. We had a mixed selection. The sweet and sour prawns were excellent. The chow mein was a little disappointing as it had very fine noodles.

Similar to other comments, I have been a customer of Happy House for a number of years HOWEVER not anymore. Had the last meal from there last night and have suffered for the last 24 hours. Have also heard other bad reports on food standards from there since talking to people today. Shame Maggi and Gary made a great business shame they aren't there still.

Having used "Happy House" when in Eye for the past 7-8 years and would normally rate our meals at a solid 4, if not 5 stars our latest meal was disappointing compared to previous offerings, bland flavour, waterery sauces, generally poor, come on Happy House we know you can do better! We will be visiting the other Chinese in the town for a while so Happy House can get its act together!

We are fairly new to the area and so we tried Happy House with a little trepidation as we have found that other peoples idea of a good takeaway is not ours. We were very pleased with our meal - all very tasty with lovely fresh veg. The meat was good quality and the hot dishes had plenty of chilli. We will definitely make Happy House our takeaway of choice from now on.

Always get Chinese from here, very nice food, only go somewhere else if they are closed! Service is very friendly, telephone orders taken.

The only downside to this place is that its a stones throw from my house and every day around 5pm I get a waft of Chinese cooking that makes me want to go back. The specials are well worth a try. Everything has been wonderful if a bit more spicy than most places. Very good food. Fresh, crisp and tasty.

I have eaten Chinese from various places around diss/Harleston but Eye Happy House is the most Delicious I have eaten in years! fast service & always lovely staff!

This is a great Chinese take-away - well worth making an effort to get to. The special menu has some great dishes especially the Chinese 5 salt king prawns (S24) which are cooked with loads of fresh red chilies - yummy! Maggie is a lovely person and runs a tight ship so you can be pretty much guaranteed a great meal. We're not too into the ordinary Chinese dishes which are available on the menu so always select the more unusual dishes from the special menu and can recommend these highly. The place is heaving every time we go - which is a great sign in itself - so now always order by phone to save what can be a long wait. Everyone we know has become a convert too so give it a try if your in North Suffolk or South Norfolk if your in the mood for Chinese.

This is my local Chinese takeaway and it is, hands down, the best chinese takeaway in the North Suffolk/South Norfolk area. Friendly service from Maggie and Tony who, after a few visits, get to know what your favourite dishes are... Cannot think of going anywhere else for my Chinese takeaway food!
