ordered the sweet & sour fish and it was like rubber with a gluey sauce, the seaweed too sweet full of sugar, vegetarian soup also gluey, does not state the vegetable satay is tofu, just awful, but the worst was the sweet and sour fish - will not be ordering again for that money, spent £44, they got the pancakes right, vegetable rice
On time delivery, polite delivery driver. Food was fresh and delicious, mixed kebab and falafel Kebab ordered, Extra pickled chilli peppers requested and received without a problem. This is my go to place for Kebabs and has never let me down. Highly recommended.
Sadly it is now CLOSED, I believe there was a fire 🔥in the kitchens.
Went for dim sum, one of the few places outside Chinatown that does it. Always has Chinese people eating over the weekends - which is considered "a good place to eat" if Chinese people go to eat there.
The chinese staff are brusque, and it's nice to see other nationalities working there.
Food is a bit hit and miss, as usual it depends on the choices you make. A la carte menu is extensive as well a good dim sum options, during the day.
We came to the fish and chips shop obviously for some fish and chips and we got what we ordered. Service was slightly slow, but what do you expect from a friendly and talkative cashier. It's a small business and is rarely busy.
Village Mangal used to be amazing food and amazing value for money. Went on line to order last week and all prices seem 35% more than before Christmas. Such a shame to open under new management and whack prices up on day one.
So I ordered from another local kebab place and it was amazing.
I will try the new restaurant and hopefully food worth the extra money.
I just like to get value for money. I understand stay up costs high but get customers first then gradually increase prices and not increase on day one.
Safely say excellent. I have ordered twice from here, albeit not exactly local. The food is brilliant. Not that I'm an expert, not even the top of foods I like. However, both meals were lovely. To top it off, my second order included a friend who was half Chinese and said the shredded fried beef was fantastic and quite difficult to get right. Will remain ordering from here, I think.
Every 2-3 months I and 3 very old friends meet here to start our evening of catching up and chatting, always great beer and service, cheers till next time
Had a one night stay with my dog and elderly Mum. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished with all of the amenities you’d want for a short stay. The beds were very comfortable with lovely crisp clean white sheets and we even had a dog bed, bowl and welcome pack in our room for Margot (the dog). We also enjoyed our evening meal which was delicious and again our server was excellent. The pub was obviously very popular with locals and had a very friendly atmosphere that any visitors would enjoy.
Will definitely stay here again - Thank you Red Lion team for our making our stay so enjoyable.
Don't go if you are planning to go to the theatre as they have a limited menu which is basically 5 meals, fish and chips, burger and chips, plant based burger and chips, sausage and mash, plant based sausages. Disappointing we arrived 5.30pm for 6pm booking. I ordered the burger which I wouldn't normally eat they were out of gluten free buns. The people on the next table had a similar issue with something being unavailable. I won't be going back such a same it used to be really good.
Ordered food for delivery. ETA on app 7:05.
7: 30, no sign of food.
Rang them.
Phone rang for 10 minutes, someone picked up, background noise but didn't speak to us.
Food arrived 7:55, cold.
Told delivery driver to take it back. Instead he left it on doorstep and rode off.
Live nearby, so took food down and complained to the manager. His response was "not my problem" said food was hot when it left. Asked how it got cold on a 2 minute motorbike ride. He just kept repeating "it was hot when it left"
