**THIS VENUE HAS SHUT DOWN PLEASE STOP ORDERING FROM THEM**
This place shut a few months ago for renovation and hasn't opened since. However their site appears to still be taking orders in error. The below is my initial review of the place from a while ago;
Rated 1 star for Atmosphere only because I have only ever had takeaway from this venue so i couldnt say! The food is always brilliant I have never had a bad meal from there and now won't order curry from anywhere else now. The portions are always generous and they will occasionally add complimentary poppadoms and chutneys with orders. Thoroughly recommended.
I have been using Wok U like for about 30 years...This year the lady that takes the orders is both RUDE and UNABLE to accept Fault...2 Times my order was undercooked and I asked for my money to be refunded...In the last year the Service has been APPALLING...Pitty...Won't be using again and DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED...Taken business else where. .I wish I could contact THE OWNER...
Such a shame, been getting takeaways from here for years and were always good, first time ordering for a few months and the place must have changed hands, food was completely tasteless, cold and a smaller portion than usual….which in a way wasn’t a bad thing this time because it went in the bin, they also used to put there salad in separate containers aside from the kebabs which they also didn’t do this time, unfortunately won’t be ordering from here in the future.
Booked a table for 6 people on the phone for dinner. When we arrived I was pleased to see a board with my name on it on the table. We tried to order the food online via a QR-Code on the menu. The order was rejected by the system, so we did it all over again, only to be rejected again. We then tried to order at the bar, but were told (rather unapologetically) that no food would be served at the location because they had been overwhelmed by people who watched the 6-Nations Rugby earlier that day. So we left with empty stomachs and of course could not find a restaurant that had a table for 6 at short notice on a busy Saturday evening. We ended up walking home and get something delivered (2 hrs later).
Unfortunately this was one of the worst afternoon teas I have ever experienced. We ordered 4 coffees and 4 afternoon teas. 20 mins later out came 3 coffees and 3 afternoon teas. After we questioned it we were told the last one will arrive shortly, another 20 mins and we managed to speak to a lady who said she was the 'acting' manager who rather than apologise, stood there counting the afternoon teas as if we were lying. Eventually the last one came out and plonked on the table.
The staff seemed really inexperience and the food was very mediocre. For the price of it, you can get much nicer afternoon teas than this place.

Today I had what was a near-perfect fast food experience in Costco's food court. There is no more queuing to ask for what you want; you select what you want from one of five touch screen terminals, which are well removed from where the food is served, so you don't get to jam-up the serving process while you dither over what you want. I like the way the calories are really clear; a jacket potato can mean anything between about 500 and 1200 calories, depending which filling you opt for. You pay at the terminal, take your ticket and wait your turn.
I reckon I waited for about 1 minute, before my order got shouted out, and my huge potato with beef chilli sauce was thrown on to the stainless steel counter. No one wanted to see my ticket, it was up to me to be listening and grab my food and get on with it, which I am fine with. They have placed loads of tables in there, including lots of standing tables, for the people like me who are fine with eating standing up and leaving the seats free for weaker humans. The food was great, a nice large properly baked spud, and the beef chilli sauce was really nice, all for £2.99. It was quick, cheap, satisfying and unceremonious, which is everything I want from fast food.
What a great pub! Went for a long lunch and was greatly impressed with the choices on the menu. We had the prawn tempura sourdough toastie, yuzu mayo and salad… wow was delish! Prawns perfectly cooked, still crunchy, salad fresh and with a lovely dressing. Followed by dessert and coffee, all to a high standard. We were made to feel at home by the excellent service provided by Ben, thank you, nothing was too much trouble. We have already put our next visit in our diaries.
After being our go-to restaurant for family get-togethers for about 25 yrs, we are sorry that Alphonso is retiring and moving back to Puglia. We will miss you.
On Sunday lunchtime the restaurant was packed with friends and family to say goodbye to a well-loved institution. We hope that the new owners will continue your tradition for high quality and good value when they open in November.
$18 for some lettuce leaves. What a rip off.
You should drop the price/add something to the leaves to warrant the price you are charge.
Perhaps someone at the top should go to The Olive Garden to see exactly what you get in a salad for a much cheaper price.
We visited your restaurant in November 2021 and I mentioned the price to our waitress. The only comment she made was that she doesn't make the prices!!
I wouldn't recommend you at all. You don't even respond to your emails!
I have been in here a few times now. Always a friendly place. The staff work so hard. The managers are always juggling a million jobs. the cleaners are lovely. The cleanest I have been to. Thanks Paulime.
Went for dinner on my wife's birthday. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Firstly after some time and having ordered a not cheap white wine, it was delivered to table by someone who'd never seen a non screw top bottle. When it came back opened, the foil was still around its neck and was warm. Waiter's response was it'll get chilled in the ice bucket !! Secondly don't ever order the rack of ribs. Overcooked, smothered in not very edible sauce and far too big for the plate it was served on. Had to ask for a serrated knife to help uncover the meat !!
