Toby Carvery Aldenham in Hertsmere

I'd like to thank the staff at this location for an incredible experience. We turned up early for a slot we'd booked on Mother's Day when it was busy and was so grateful to have been able to bring the reservation forward. They found the perfect table in the corner so I had space for my assistance dog and their reaction to him was perfect, no fuss, just politely ignored them - my dog had had a long day so this was appreciated. It was also clean and we were bought drinks quickly. I'm not familiar with how these restaurants work and they were more than happy to answer questions so I could get to grips with the etiquette. The food itself was lovely and hot, refreshed frequently and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating through the visit, kind and excellent customer service. They are also great at dealing with the disabled toilet as a member of my party required assistance after the handle got stuck - the level of professionalism and empathy here is fantastic. It's a hard job and the place was very busy but the food quality and customer care was never lacking.

We have not been to The Toby Carvery for years, so we thought we would go and have a lovely late lunch. Oh dear!!! The outside is very run down. The food was terrible. Badly presented and cold. The gravy had a skin formed over it and was tepid. We were in there for 3/4 of an hour and during that time no fresh food was put out apart from a fresh turkey. One server came out and stirred the over cooked cold stuffing. The peas were all dried out on top and the cauliflower cheese was as hard as a cricket ball with hardly any cheese sauce. I will say that the staff were all very pleasant . Very concerning that we saw nobody taking the temperature of the food or replenishing it.

My daughter phoned and she wasn’t feeling well to I rushed to pick we up from school. I have an electric car and didn’t have enough power to get home so I popped into the Toby carvery for 20 mins to charge the car which you obviously pay for. I got my daughter a drink as she wasn’t well enough to eat and we left. I really thought it was a great venue and have booked to come back for Mother’s Day lunch. I have subsequently received a parking ticket. I thought if you were in the Charing station paying for it then you shouldn’t be charged. I don’t think this was very clear and it really was a very friendly and spacious venue. Will definitely be back.

Food was lovely, Salim and team were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. There were a lot of us in our party but nothing was too much trouble. Not our first time there but first time on Boxing Day & everything was really great, thank you , Nicky & party

Sailm is a very nice guy and he is always there when you want some help and is soooo nice and friendly

Zero allergen controls & only offered 20% off the bill. I could have died eating at this restaurant due to the incompetent staff including the General Manager. I am upset as what should have been a nice family roast ended up being a disaster.

We’ve always loved a carvery and Aldenham is our closest there’s always been friendly welcoming staff.. but we were most pleased to see the Return of Head Chef Dennis! His happy friendly demeanour and engaging personality and not to mention his delicious food, the serving counter is always clean, well stocked with fresh food the restaurant Is always clean and tidy and all tables are cleaned and cleared even on busy days! And you’re never rushed to leave your table.

We went for my grandsons 15th birthday party. Lovely roast as usual and lovely helpful staff. But this time we were disappointed as no Yorkshire puddings and we had to ask for Gravy. Otherwise would have given 5 star. Lots free parking. You have to register your car’s registration. Busy restaurant. I was told the men’s toilet was not very clean and no toilet paper. But this is our favourite Toby in the area.

Always have a great meal here. Family oriented. Staff are welcoming and food is great. Never disappointed

Disgusting filthy and needs shutting down. The quality and care is completely over looked. Serving area and sauces are absolutely disgraceful. So bad we left as couldn’t continue. Toilets are dirty. Staff don’t care.

We had to move as the sun was blinding me and there was no blinds or curtains to block it out. Our waitress told us that this is a common complaint in this room. Even after she helpfully suggested we move I was still unable to relax as the sun was blinding me. It was extremely busy on the day we went. I am sure that Toby are making enough money to afford some blinds for this building.

I visited last week for a family advent, I would give. 5 star🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 the service was great the food was fabulous the staff here great the guy with a bearded and glasses who served the carvery was great, all round a great experience

Although there were plenty of Servers, we waited ages after being shown to our table just to have someone take our order. Then waited 20mins for chicken nuggets (hardly Cordon Bleu food!!) for one kid in our family group, by which time they were cold and he'd already eaten a large Yorkshire pudding, plus the rest of us had practically finished our Main Course. Carvery offered nice variety and was reasonably priced. Waited (again) too long for desserts & nearly gave up. Had a word with the manager on duty who offered financial redress. However, although the food was okay, I'm not minded to return if the service is SO lax.

I recently ate at the restaurant, I was not made aware of the parking situation and the need to register my car. I didn’t see the signage in the car park as it was dark. I hadn’t been to the restaurant for a couple of years. It seems a little unfair to not point this out to remind customers what they need to do on arrival. Seems like poor customer service to me and it doesn’t encourage a return visit.

Food was amazing. Didn't expect to queue for 40 mins when prebooked.Toilets stank and no toilet paper.Ran out of 2 types of larger.Starter arrived well over 30 minutes after we had queued and started to eat carvery. Waiters couldn't give a hot. Lots of people complaining. Won't be going back until they've sorted themselves out.

Thanks to Hollie, I had a great experience :) very helpful! As a vegan, I rarely experience this kind of service because usually places see it as being difficult or they simply just don’t care. Hollie went out of her way to make sure my meal was perfect. She even checked and replaced the gravy just before I head over to it. I can tell she probably gets positive feedback quite a bit because she was wonderful, very polite and very helpful. The meal was nice but BRING BACK THE ALLOTMENT PIE!!

Had a lovely meal here with excellent service by the fabulous Abdul who looked after us . Food was hot and tasty with plenty of vegetables and potatoes Five stars!
