Wok 'u' Like in Hertsmere

Much faster than expected delivery time and food tasted good. Shame it was ruined by the diarrhoea that followed. My housemate and I shared the food and have both been suffering the after effects so I just can't give more than 2 stars.

I ordered to collect, and after waiting more than 10 minutes, they cancelled my order without any explanation

I ordered roast duck in green pepper and black beans sauce and they gave me a row duck with a liquid tomato sauce. Disgusting.

I absolutely love this place. It’s a proper local Chinese takeaway. Always answer the phone promptly, always polite and lovely to talk to, still offer a free delivery service and free prawn crackers and the food is consistently spot on too. Even my wife who is a bit of a food snob admits the food here is good. Cash only which is a bit of a pain, but not the end of the world. Good job Wok U Like 👍

Stale prawn crackers, undercooked rice. Very disappointed as the food is usually fantastic.

That has to be the worst beef In oyster sauce I have ever had. This is the second time, thinking maybe they were busy. Shame as the chow mein was good

This is a great local takeaway joint. We've ordered from here several times since moving to the area 5 years ago. We order online so payment isn't an issue. They have a website now where you can order direct (they never had this previously). The food has always been delivered piping hot, is tasty and filling. The portions are a decent size and you'll definitely get value for money. We've never had any problems with the food and will continue to order from Wok U Like.

The chow mein was discoloured looked like spaghetti and tasted like it was yesterday’s order. Some elements were okay. But not much fresh flavours. I don’t think we will be ordering from here again.

Fast ordering, awful location if you need to park, any spaces are taken by delivery staff, who often block you. Food not as good value as portions have shrunk especially rice

Food here is amazing! We never order Chinese from anywhere else! Nowhere compares. The staff are always so friendly and helpful on the phone and always smiley on delivery. Food always arrives hot and definately worth the money.

Food cold and prawn crackers stale. Rudest delivery driver I have ever met. As soon as I opened the door and greeted him he asked why did I order when i’m 7 miles away and he doesn’t want to drive that far. Being insulted and made to feel bad when I have paid for both the food and delivery, from a restaurant that delivers to my location is not acceptable. I assured him I wont ever be ordering from here again.

Posting this to redress the balance of the bad reviews, because I had a very good experience last weekend. The only downside is that they only take cash. The girl who took my order was very polite and offered me different options to paying cash (downloading a delivery app, so I could pay online or delivering to my home, where I had cash). The food was great (sweet ‘n’ sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, crispy seaweed) and they added a bag of prawn crackers for free. The other reviews are quite old, so I’d ignore them if I were you, and give Wok U Like a visit.

Everything was tasty and if good quality except prawn crackers as the tasted of being cooked in old oil.

Ordered from here as my usual chinese wasn't doing drlivery. A bit more expensive than my usual place. Food delivered in good time and was nice and hot but it was a bit over cooked and very greasy. Eatable but not great.

Excellent food, but was delayed

The order arrived about 10 minutes late initially, which was fine. But there were items missing. Contact and re-delivery took a further 20+ minutes.

For starters I ordered prawn and cashew and received chicken and cashew, the found the beef tasted funny/off and looked slimey! Left food and didn’t eat it!!

If I could give no stars I would. My relatives have come to stay with us so we decided to pick up some Chinese to enjoy together. The main thing we wanted was salt and pepper squid and my dad even described exactly how we wanted it, as this is always what we order from Chinese take away places. He emphasised that we wanted them fried with onions, peppers etc. We ordered two of these dishes. When we got home, we noticed the dishes were completely wrong. They gave us squid in some type of curry sauce. My dad called them up and told them they gave us the wrong dishes and can they replace these with what we ordered. The lady on the phone told us that the boss said they would not replace these and that if we wanted them we would have to pay for these again. They were not helpful on the phone and didn’t care at all. All they care about is money, they don’t care about the customer and left us feeling really frustrated and dissatisfied. We couldn’t enjoy the meal after that. Terrible experience, we will not be going there again and I am embarrassed that my relatives have come all this way only for us to not get what we ordered.

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about!! I have personally been using wok u like for well over a decade. The service is fast and reliable. The food is delicious every time. And for those who complain about the price - prices are much better if you call them! I have nothing bad to say about them at all and would always recommend

Im not one to leave a bad review truly , but i ordered salt and chili chips as aswell as chicken And it was bland no spice whatso ever and they were both like mush? Which i dont understand And my chicken chow mein is soggy and had a weird taste to it For the price of these dishes id expect something at least tasty? And not like mush in the mouth? The chicken balls had a weird taste too and are saturated in oil Thank you

Ordered for 3 adults tonight. (Just under £30 total) The delivery service is quicker than anywhere I’ve ever ordered from. (Usually within 20 mins) The food is always piping hot, fresh and delicious. This is by far the best Chinese in Potters Bar and I’ve been using Wok-U-Like for about 10 years. I like that when I call them to place an order they tell me where I live for confirmation. They are consistent with the service, hot food and everything being fresh!! Love love love this takeaway!! 10/10

Everything was inedible. Special Fried rice stodgy. Noodles were stodgy. Chicken texture was very odd...glupey. I dont normally write a review but I literally threw nearly £40 of food in the bin 🤬

On the 2nd phone call my husband was told we couldn’t get any money off our order for the poor service or after incorrectly having been promised it was on its way (it wasn’t) but we were assured our next order would be on the house. We have just tried to order our ‘free’ meal and have been told that’s not what was promised!! Really disappointed and would have cancelled our original order if we could have.

Food was over an hour late. I had to call to see where my food was. I requested a refund they declined and said driver was stuck in traffic however over the phone the women said and admitted that they had just started cooking my food.

It would seem that management has changed, judging by the disappearance of the eternal desk person. While it was acceptable, and the food remains similar, the ability to listen, appear vaguely interested and give you what you asked for has degraded. Shame because now I can't even rely on them to get a late night request right. The world has slipped into lower gear.

Always order my Chinese from here and have done for years! The food always arrives mega quick and always hot. I don't ever remember there being meals missed from the delivery but I know that if this did happen they would quickly deliver the meal. Brilliant restaurant and in my opinion, the best Chinese takeaway in Potters Bar.

The plum sauce had separated, and pot supplied needed stirring, and I didn’t realise this, until I poured a lot of oil, all over my plate of food. The chow mein, looked like good ingredients, and healthy- before my oil slick- but, was bland and looked and tasted almost plain boiled or steamed. Had more onions than noodles, and the noodles, were strangely, cut up into small tinned spaghetti pieces. This Chinese

Lim was very rushed, rude and impatient and told me to just go back to just eat which is why I am leaving a complaint: something I as a user of just eat for several years have never done- because I’ve never experienced such rudeness
