Food was great Restaurant had no heating Loads of drinks out of stock

Venue excellent, food and wine vg. However absolutely no atmosphere , we were only people in restaurant from 6.30 to 7.45. No heating, fire not lit. What a waste of such a venue, if properly managed should be buzzing with people .

I booked 7 months ago, requested an upstairs table. Despite confirming this request a week ago, I was given a table downstairs near the door. The location was cold, we all sat in our coats. The service was slow, waited nearly 45 minutes for the main courses to arrive. Desserts took even longer to arrive, I had to hurry them up twice. Two of the desserts ( bread & butter pudding) were served cold! Sent them back to be reheated! Quality of the main courses were good. In the end, I was not charged for the desserts but they forgot to deduct the £50 deposit I was asked to pay. Sorted s day later. My previous experiences at this establishment had been satisfactory.

The food was great but, we did have to wait for long periods for our meals to come out. Some of the items did not get served at all .

Great interior, especially in the winter with all the oak beams and cosy furnishings. 12 of us booked for lunch. The booking system to pre-order food was very easy to use as the main booker and for individuals to click on a link and order. And the menu choices were plenty. Once we got to the pub though the service was pretty awful. Not enough people serving, not making eye contact or taking responsibility, very slow served food (and it wasn't hot when it arrived) and we had to go and find someone to serve us drinks and pay. Food itself was OK, not fantastic, but ok.

Went for our Christmas do. Food was quite nice but service was terrible, ordered cocktails to start and half of them came out after the starters. They do not know hiw yo make a liquor coffee, it's was just a latte with alcohol in it not black with the cream floating on top how it should be. It was cold downstairs and despite several complaints nothing was done, but when we walked upstairs it was lovely and warm but no offer was made to put us up there. Over all it was a very underwhelming experience and I would expect a better standard for this restaurant

Excellent venue for our 90th Birthday bash for Mum. The food was great, buffet ample and staff really helpful. If you supply your own music tho , running from a smartphone, ensure you have your own speakers/ Boombox with correct Interface.

Looking at this place online I thought it would be a lovely cosy place to meet up with my brother and sister in law. It was extremely cold, the fire was nearly out. It took forever to bring our mains which were just about hot enough and the food nice although missing some items mentioned on the menu. We chose our sweets which should have been hot but were served freezing cold and had to go back to be heated up which we noticed another table had to do. My sister in law's gin and tonic was served with the tonic already in it which for her flooded the gin making it very weak. Although there were only 5 very small parties in there for lunch it took us 2 and a half hours to be served 2 courses and 2 rounds of drinks, we were told all the Guinness zero had been drunk over the weekend and they wouldn't be getting a delivery until Friday, that didn't bode well for any diners wishing to drink that within the next 5 days during the busy Christmas period. It was such a shame as I was thinking this place would hit the mark but it was way off. Don't intend ever to revisit following this experience

We came to this restaurant hoping for a nice Sunday roast. Unfortunately this was not the case. We all had starters which came about 45 minutes after ordering. Unfortunately the starters were disappointing. Three of us had the roast but again we waited a long time. The one slice of roast beef we all had was very dry and the potatoes were not what I call roast. The vegetables consisted of one dried up parsnip and tiny amount of cabbage. I couldn’t find the carrot. As we had waited such a long time for the starter and the main to arrive we didn’t have any pudding. We thought the service was poor considering there were only two other tables full in the restaurant. I had booked this restaurant having read good reviews but unfortunately all of us were very disappointed.

Lovely place to eat and drink great, atmosphere in a great building. Staff friendly, polite and efficient.

We hired out the area they have to groups at the back - excellent service, nicely laid out area, fun time had by all.

I only went in for some chips and a glass of wine. The barmaid said the kitchen was closed, but she said she'd cook some for me. Really kind as I've not been well and needed some carbs. Wine was excellent. Plenty of cosy corners to relax in, away from the other customers.

This is a lovely venue. It’s our go-to when visiting a friend who lives nearby. But… Last night the pub was pretty quiet but our food order took 50 minutes to arrive. It had clearly just been reheated from from lunchtime for the most part but more disappointing was the raw potato rosti-which had clearly never seen the inside of an oven or a frying pan! Raw chopped cabbage and undercooked boiled potato do not a rosti make! Just because you shape it into a circle doesn’t mean you’ve magically made a rosti. 3/10 this time!

A lovely venue, spoilt by the lack of choice on the menu. Chicken or sausages or burger (they’d run out of fish by 6.00) not my idea of a meal out. I can cook that for myself at home.

Surroundings comfortable & inviting, friendly atmosphere. Staff pleasant & helpful. All great so far but what a disappointing menu! Very little choice & not at all enticing. Added, or rather taken away, one of the few desserts was unavailable. There was nothing I really wanted on the menu, settled for sausages which unfortunately had very tough skins.

We arrived an hour and a half before a show across the road. We booked in advance, but we're the only people in the dining section of the pub. The waitress was superb, very helpful and pleasant. The food took a long time to arrive. We had to tell them that we had to leave shortly. When the food arrived, my T-bone pork steak was not thoroughly cooked through, so I had to leave it. After a short argument with the chef, the meal was taken off the bill.

Had a nice meal before we went to the show , very welcoming with a log fire & staff were pleasant & polite , food was reasonably priced , the only thing we thought would be nice being we were going to the Dolly tribute show if they had some of her music being played in the background

We visited the restaurant at The Old Manor before we went to the theatre opposite. We were severed and looked after by two lovely girls Ruby and Claire, they knew we were against time to get to the theatre and reassured us that our food would be with us on time. Food was hot and delicious. After the theatre we returned for a drink at the bar and the bartender was also very polite and interested in us. Ruby appeared a little later remembering us and asked how we enjoyed our evening. The whole experience was just lovely. Our only criticism would be more choices on the menu.

I would just like to say how wonderful 2 young ladies are who work here , they were so kind to me a couple of weeks ago when I was in need of help , and I wanted to recognise them both .So thanku again so much Ruby & Ellie you are both stars and a great asset to The Old Manor ✨

OK place, but the menu is very poor, just burgers, sausages and fish and chips. Surely they can do better than this. It was better before the Youngs takeover.

Lovely friendly staff and our Sunday Roasts were delicious. Too full for puddings though, will plan better next time!!

I hate to give negative reviews, but we advised staff that we only had limited time due to having tickets for the show opposite - service was slow - and food was not at all good ( cold chips - yuk!). There wasn’t time to complain or send food back. The server did ask how things were when we paid, and didn’t offer any further comment when we said average. Actually average was pretty generous!

Nice building good ambiance. Tudor beams and lovely brickwork. Lunch good too ! We had mains and sweets. We were a large family group so had a private niche which was very nice.

Lovely afternoon. Good roast food. Watched the rain pour outside whilst sitting in the warm! Not too noisy so was able to have a good old chat, food and drink! Will be back!

Very convenient place to meet. One member of staff very welcoming, but others rather indifferent. Service was slow. Music too loud and not to our taste. The restaurant was empty. Not surprising on a Tuesday

The old manor recently hosted our engagement party on 31st August. I firstly enquired about private hire of the whole left side of the venue for 75 people and was responded back so quickly from Michael. Michael was amazing support from the beginning, he explained everything from the buffet food they provide, minimum spend and what they could offer to us to make our party perfect for us. He was there at every point of call and was just overall amazing! On the day I was met by Dominique and her lovely team who met all of our wishes. We was allowed a dj and to provide our own celebration cake and cupcakes. The buffet we preordered had so many compliments from our guests, it was presented beautifully. The bar was fast and smooth running throughout the night and the service from the whole team did not disappoint. The venue is stunning and we are already planning another visit. Thankyou so much to you all for making our celebrations so perfect and we highly recommend the old manor for private events :)

I went to the Old Manor with 20 guests. We have a fantastic Sunday lunch. I was concerned bearing in mind there were 21 of us but the food and service was great. Keeley looked after us and was brilliant. All my guests were complimentary. Highly recommended.

It has been some time since we have been here, it was always good, but has surpassed itself now. We were a group of 9 adults and 4 children, we were looked after from the very beginning. The waitresses that looked after us were excellent, the food and drink were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating my brother in laws 60th birthday, and he was highly impressed, especially as he was footing the bill. Thank you so much , for making this a wonderful day

Umm sadly not a good visit. Had lunch here before and no issues. When we arrived there was no one in the restaurant but the service was so very slow. Did not have the food we ordered. We had to chase for our main meal. The staff are nice but not very customer focused. We had a guest with us and to be honest felt embarassed.

We all enjoyed this very much, a table for 13 people and the food was excellent with no problems at all with the food or the service. We had The Study room, which was lovely and private, although the rest of the upstairs area was empty so it was nice and quiet for us

We had a family occasion at Wyllyotts and it was perfect. They allowed us to have the secret garden just for ourselves, although it was a quiet week day lunchtime. Nothing was too much trouble.

I would love to share this rare and exceptional experience at the Old Manor this afternoon. I forgot to pick up my debit card from my table after paying for a delicious meal. I was outside of the restaurant and about to get into the UBER car when a male staff ran out to hand over my debit card that I had left on the table. I want to give this heartfelt 5 star for the food and service. But I want to give a 7 ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ to this honest young man that came out to give me my card and save me a miserable day that would have followed had I not got my debit card back. Thank You a million times

Professional staff and a Great atmosphere! Elouise,Ryan and Harry stand out staff! Couldn’t have been more helpful,only went in to get directions,ended up having a couple of pints and some great conversation

The Old Manor is a nice spot for a meal in Potters Bar. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was cozy. What really made our visit special was the great service from Ellouise, Harry, and Ryan. They were attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. It's clear they take pride in their work. If you're in the area, the Old Manor is worth checking out for a pleasant dining experience.

What a beautiful little pub! From the front it is a stereotypical Tudor style building and upon entry the aesthetics continue in the same vein. Stone floors, wooden beams with brickwork pillars. The service is absolutely spot on with a special thanks to Harry for making our visit perfect! Can’t rate this place highly enough!

We recently hosted a private party for about 24 people, including half of that with children for our trip back to the UK from Australia. The upstairs area was beautifully set up with plenty of space for our group. The service was exceptional, and the staff were very attentive to our needs. Our pre-ordered menu was executed perfectly. We highly recommend this restaurant for hosting private events!

We had a wonderful time with around 26 staff members and we had a few extra additions and the staff were very accommodating. Food and drink were great and the pre booking form is perfect and made everyone able to budget for themselves

Food and service were good but took so long we couldn't stay for dessert as we had to get back to work and a caesar salad had taken so long to prepare and serve we had to rush it and leave.

Fantastic pub and friendly bar staff with excellent service, I highly recommend you visit.

The Old Manor has been my go to pub for 10 years now. I have to say, Domi and her team are doing an amazing job. She loves this pub and she’s constantly working on making it better. They have done so much with the secret garden. Great job! 👏

Great little pub. Booked a table the day before and received confirmation. Server could not find the booking so we showed the email confirmation. Overall not made to feel very welcome and the server, although generally efficient, did not create a 'we want you here' atmosphere. This was a real shame as the building is beautiful and the food excellent. Would visit again but likely phone to reserve rather than using the online booking system.

Nice atmosphere but very expensive

We love this pub, even the dog insisted on coming one day while out on her walk! Lol The food is lovely, the staff polite and the drinks plentiful. They have a variety of spaces available to sit to suit your mood and each one is great.

There was plastic in the roast chicken, told them and had to wait another 30 minutes for the other chicken to come out, at that time the whole table has eaten there food but they did take the chicken off the bill. The potatoes were horrible and hard and only got 3 of them. The meat was good but salty. And then at the end they gave us the wrong bill, we payed only for them to call us up and say we have to pay the rest of the bill over a link.

A lovely converted medieval building, refurbished inside, which offers a wholesome Sunday lunch which is not too big nor too small in portion. Very attentive service too!

My family and I booked a table for my sisters 18th birthday they allowed us to bring balloons to make it even more special. The staff are brilliant and the food was delicious and we left extremely satisfied. We will definitely be coming again!

Been here many times, a lovely pub with a relaxed atmosphere and good food.

Food is definitely way overpriced for what it is. Service is extremely slow by the time the food arrived after almost 1 hour I had to eat in 5 minutes as I was getting late even though the place was empty. Improvements necessary.

Lovely lunch time out at The Old Manor with a friends . Differently will go back to eat. Beautiful building and décor . Food came out hot and of good portions. I had vegetarian roast option which was very tasty my friend had chicken roast.

I went to the Old Manor for a lunch time meal with my wife and we were served quickly for our drinks... However, that's where the positive experience ends I'm afraid. When we received our drinks we were not prompted to order food and it took a good 10 minutes after drinks to get approached for ordering food. Do bear in mind there were only 3 tables on at this time so it wasn't "Busy". We only ordered mains and nothing else, expecting it to be quick. And thankfully we did only order Mains, because if we had ordered a 3 course we would have probably been there for over 2 hours. Fast forward 45+ minutes (Yes you read that right) it took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the Burger and the Chicken Escalope. It doesn't take over 45 minutes during a quiet time to fry some chicken, chips and grill a burger. When we received our food the only positive really was that it was piping hot. After we started to dig in, the food was mediocre, nothing to rave about (Which is unfortunate, because The Old Manor used to be such a great place to get food.) The waiting staff didn't check up on us for the "Post food delivery checkup" so we ate it quickly and thankfully there were no issues with it. This isn't the first time, however that we've had service this bad. In the last 6 months we've been 3 times, one of which was Mothers Day and even then it wasn't the best and service was super slow. Overall it's an understaffing issue, both front of house and kitchen. I do hope you take measures to improve the service here. As this has caused such a dampener on what should have been a lovely lunch with my wife. Do better.

Came in and had a lovely time at the bar! Service was quick and shoutout Steven for getting my drinks quickly and also recommending drinks to try! Loved them all!

Came in with my partner just now and had a beautiful meal . The food was gorgeous very well done. The staff where amazing especially our server the young lad Steven. What a joy he was . Thanks Steven we will be back soon .

Had a lovely roast beef dinner good size portions

Terrible service - had to wait 45 minutes for our food, goodness knows when it would have arrived if we hadn’t asked for it. Once it did come, it was undercooked and tasteless - would not recommend.

We visit for my son's 21st birthday, there were 16 of us. Services was excellent, food was very good and we had the upstairs to ourselves. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Great wine and range of drinks. We had a great evening.

Really nice food after a long wait although salad was just green leaves . Flowers on mine and the other tables were dead so atmosphere was not that great. Little attention by staff.

We had a very good experience and I can say this on behalf of all the family. It's a while since I've visited the restaurant and the staff really looked after the sixteen of us for our Grandsons 21st birthday celebration. The food was excellent and the atmosphere warm and comfortable. Lovely old building steeped in history.

Booked on line for a meal prior to a show at Wyllyotts Theatre. We placed our order and were served almost immediately, we were asked a couple of times how we liked our meal, and it was quick to get the bill/pay afterwards. Food was good, prices in line with the market and the atmosphere was buzzy. Would definitely go again if we were heading to the theatre - not for any other reason as we live about 40 minutes away!

Lovely restaurant great Sunday roast! 9 of us visited and the staff were patient, professional and helpful. The food was really good! The best roast I’ve had in a long time, although the potato’s could have been a bit crispier but that is just preference Highly recommend!

Terrible experience. Service was very poor which spoilt our evening as we were only given a two our slot to eat our meal. After being seated we had a twenty minute wait to be offered drinks and an hours wait after ordering for our main course to arrive. Very busy restaurant and not enough staff! Staff service and attitudes could be improved upon! Overall quality of food was very poor!!! Didn’t eat desserts - Apple turnovers had very little filling, were overcooked, over spiced and the pastry tasted rancid. The brownie was overcooked and dry. Very disappointing evening.

Very disappointing meal .Table of 5 booked before going over to theatre .We waited ages for the food ,we thought we had children’s meals the portions were so small .chips and salad are so cheap so why such tiny portions. Had to have a pudding as all still hungry .pudding not very hot but by now we didn’t have time to complain and send back .would not recommend and we not return

This was my second visit. I went there at christmas and i was so impressed i took my husband yesturday. The menu has lots of choice and the food is served hot . Good size portion and value for money. I had mushroom and tarragon sausages, and my husband had the old manor beef burger, which was cooked to prefection. The staff were welcoming and gave us time to order our food. It wasn't busy we were the only one in the restaurant when we arrived as there wasnt any prefromance running at theatre opposite. The bar area was busy and you can eat food in the bar area . This building is so beauitful it is worth a visited. We will be defiantly be returning .

I had fantastic experience visiting the old Manor pub in potters bar. The food was top quality and the bar staff were friendly, particularly “Mia” she made sure we had everything we wanted and was friendly and accommodating.

We had a lovely traditional Sunday roast and the pub is cosy and full of old world character. Our waitress Mia was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely recommend this pub to friends. Top notch!

Having recently been for some quiet drinks with the other half, we were happily greeted by the bar staff, in particular Mel (Melissa) who knew what she was doing, Very friendly and polite. We will be back again.

After finding a space in the carpark which was very full we were happy to see such a lovely quaint pub , it was very busy but we found a table on the pub floor on the side. We ordered a Burger and Fries with Truffle oil, it was very tasty but not too much truffle on the chips , a lovely lady called Melissa helped us and got us some more truffle oil which made it even better ! thank you

Visited last week with a friend. Waited so long for a burger and chips and we were the only people eating! - when it eventually arrived, the meat was raw in places and the chips were awful, there was also a hair on the serviette. It felt dirty in there, not sure what has happened to this lovely pub/restaurant (I’ve been going there for years) I will not be returning until it improves.

We were a large group however despite sending through our food choices in advance several items not available at all, The Food was ok really as you'd expect portion sizes on the small side. Waiter was nice but service slow despite the restaurant and bar being relatively quiet.

Slow service ( 1 hour before food arrived) & dried up pudding. Roast only ok. Will try somewhere else for Sunday Lunch next time

Firstly, the bar staff were excellent and could not be faulted. They pour an excellent pint of guinness for you stout fans 🍺. Food was a big let down. Smoked Salmon starter was just like a supermarket packet salmon with olives and half a slice of toast? Steaks were all undercooked. The mushy peas were dry on the fish and chips. The deserts weren’t great either - there was some odd orange topping on the brownies. It’s a real shame because it’s also in a prime location. I’d recommend this place for a drink but not for food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
