Went last night for dinner with a couple of friends and had a really good evening. Service was great and the food as always was very good. Really great Felafels and houmous. Had the Imam Byaldi, an aubergine dish which is delicious and 'melt in your' mouth. Will be returning again soon!

Ordered over the phone, extremely rude. The second time ordering and both times were the same. Do NOT eat here if you are gluten free. They do not care and have no interest in trying to help you with what you can order. Meal came with couscous after stating gluten free. No people skills. Terrible let down as the food is nice. If only they could employ staff with better people skills.

Visited this beautiful restaurant last week with friends for lunch the food and service was amazing, will definitely be returning.

My first time in a Turkish restaurant and not the last for sure ! Food is absolutely delicious, especially grilled meats. Staff is kind and professionnal. Quick service also. All that for a very democratic price !

Excellent service and delicious food. A lovely evening out with friends. I had the mixed kebab as I couldn't make my mind up, it was presented nicely and tasted amazing.

Warm white wine food ok but had better elsewhere rude waiter took the micky out of a pensioner in our group and upset him. shame.

I’m glad we never read the reviews before trying this restaurant on a cold, wet Tuesday night as we would have missed out on a fantastic meal. My hubby had the lamb which he said was excellent and I had a delicious veggie moussaka washed down with a glass of house red which was of the highest quality. The price of the mains include freshly baked flatbread with a selection of mouth watering dips. Friendly and efficient service, highly recommended.

We have visited the Wood Oven several so decided to go there for Mothers Day. We ordered 4 kebabs and a burger. The service was slow which is understandable on Mothers Day but the overall experience was abysmal and ruined my Mothers Day. 4 of us ordered starters, 3 came out and the last one came out after we had finished and they had cleared the table, we had to chase up the last order! One of my children ordered a kid's kebab and chips and another a burger and chips. After several tables who arrived after us got served we chased up our food. We were clearly forgotten! Then our food was brought out without chips. They said they had run out even though other diners who ordered after us received chips. The photo shows how the burger was served to us. The kids kebab came with rice but we had ordered chips as my son doesn't eat rice. I told them we had ordered chips and they said no we didn't. We are disappointed with the way we have been treated and also because we have recommended this restaurant to friends and family. At 8pm I had to try and arrange food for a family of 5!

I booked well in advance for a birthday party for 36 people. There was no additional staff for this surge of people means that 3 waiters serving the whole restaurant including this large group. So the service was poor. The platter at £90 was of poor quality; full of chicken wings and lamb chops mostly bones, No Kofta in it, 2 chicken pieces and 2 lamb cubes. Small bowel of salads came after the main dish. As for the food quality, I would say good rather than excellent. Not good value for money. Definitely not for a large group; may be good for a couple or 4 people at a time.

I used to love this place but I went there last week and the food was no where near as good as it used to be. also the website said they would be wearing masks and cleaning tables between customers. this didn't, happen and the waiter kept leaning over me with no regard to covid. if any one had covid there we would have caught it!!

I called in on a whim yesterday when visiting Moorfields eye Clinic, the atmosphere, even as I opened the door was inviting and warm as the cooking area was along the wall as I entered. Service was pleasant, friendly and not, in my case, hurried - I think the staff deliberately gave me time to settle and write a card, they brought my drink and waited in the background. A good traditional Turkish restaurant, I order a main dish of Falafel - they were some of the best I have eaten with great side dishes. A young family were eating there with no duress and an older family came in as I was leaving, established diners of the restaurant - pleased to be back now Covid rules had lifted.

I’d often come past this place & thought how I’d love to try it. I WISHED I HADNT!!! Food barely edible & cold. Was supposed to be for 4-5 people but the portions were more like 3. 1 bowl of salad between 4 of us, 3 dips, & the meat consisted of 1 skewer of lamb, 1 of chicken & 1 kofte. There were supposed to be 4 lamb chops & 8 ribs yet this was halved. Don’t bother ordering alcohol, drinks are charged at £7 for a double and is mainly water, they need a visit from weights n measures! All in all I will NEVER return - APPALLING. Basically 1 alcohol drink, 4 cokes & the sharing platter = £106 wasted

Having recently moved to the area I thought I'd try this restaurant for a takeaway and it was a great choice. Tasty and large portions, will definitely return.

Very poor food and staff and too expensive, food was cold I’ve been there twice and will never go there again 1st time I gave it benefit of the doubt I regret going there

When we arrived it wasn’t too busy but you could already see they were under staffed. The bread, salad and dips came 10 minutes apart meaning we had finished the bread by the time the dips came. The restaurant and takeaway got busier resulting in us waiting 50 minutes for our food. My fish was over cooked, as well as the chips. I sent my food back and asked them to take it off the bill, I ate a bit of rice and the salad they brought out to nibble on. My partners meal wasn’t as described on the menu but after waiting nearly an hour he was so hungry he just ate it. They were not apologetic, but did take the things off the bill that we asked. Whilst I understand restaurants are opening again after a long closure period and we understood staff shortages, the quality of food should not be this bad. We wouldn’t return now.

So I went recently as I ordered Takeaway due to the pandemic, now the food I ordered was a Wood Oven Platter + Chips which should have cost sub £30 as noted on the takeaway menu we have, however, when I arrived at the Restaurant I was told it was now £38.When I queried them on the pricing I was told it was correct and my menu was out of date and to see the website pricing. The website does not contain the full menu that you can order! Furthermore the menu I used was 2-3 months old, generally not that significant of a time frame to see such an increase in price. Shame as the food is nice but if you're ordering from them make sure you check the pricing beforehand as I didn't on the phone.

The quality of the food has dropped recently with the chicken tasting funny. We used to eat here a lot but now prefer other similar restaurants. We have also experienced problems with charging for meals to take away with prices being charged differently for the same meal from one week to the next. I've not got an issue with the price charged, I just don't expect it to change from one server to another the following week. We won't be returning.

Nice food.There is lots of choice. Only thing missing for me is I wish they did chicken wings as a starter but you can only get them as a main meal or part of a platter.Most of the staff are lovely but I find a couple of them a bit abrupt... and forgetful. (I ordered drinks which never came.)I like that you can see the chefs cooking. Gets busy - both for eating in and for takeaway.Popular place.

Fab food, & reasonably priced. Gets very busy, so better to book before visiting. Staff could crack a smile though.

The best Turkish restaurant so far. We use Wood Oven restaurant at least twice per week. Meet is always very tasty and smooth. We use wood oven takeaway for the party. Staff very friendly. Strongly recommend!

Wonderful atmosphere. Delightful surroundings. Food absolutely yummy. No parking but can use Tesco carpark in Southgate Road, a five minutes' walk away.

Would Love to know how much the lunch time menus is, and what times they are. I visited a few months ago for a meal and was really pleased.

Open coal cooking gives the food (of which there is a massive selection) a delicious bbq taste. Along with the incredibly friendly staff, this is a great place to eat at

This is a good restaurant that serves Turkish cuisine at reasonable prices in potters bar high street. The service was attentive although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy.

We tried the Wood Oven for the first time and were disappointed with the experience. We were given menus and left for quite some time and not asked if we would like drinks. The waiter who took the order seemed very distracted. One starter, falafels, came 15 minutes before the other. The falafels were the worst I've eaten yet my wife's onion dish was really very good. The mains were okay but with many similar places around we would not be returning.

I am a regular at this restaurant and have been for many years. The service is great and food is even better! The lamb chops are my favorite and always cooked to perfection. The decor is slightly dated but the food defiantly makes up for it. Food is very reasonably priced. Try it out you wont be disappointed!

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday Night as a group of Four and were very impressed by the quality of the lovely food. The service was welcoming and attentive but also relaxed and un-rushed which was very nice. The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

I come here all the time and I have never left disappointed, the food is amazing every time and the staff are always so friendly, the restaurant is lovely and clean and always has a great atmosphere, would absolutely recommend this place for couples and family’s!

Excellent food; equally excellent service to a table of five adults and two small children. A range of Turkish individual starters and salads and plates of barbecued lamb and chicken for everyone to help themselves - simply delicious. A place of choice when in North London / Hertfordshire for families and couples alike.

I visited Wood Oven for lunch while on business in the area. There was nobody else in the restaurant when we arrived at around 2.30, so they accommodated us easily. The staff were efficient, the food choice was good, and the taste was delicious. We had the two course lunch menu which costs £8.95, and we got a lot of food for that. I would definitely recommend.

We arrived on time and the manager said we have no table for you and have to wait 40mins. We explained that we had a confirmation of table and he said basically its not my problem, with no apology. We were with friends who wanted to eat there so a spare table became available by the front door after 10minutes. Despite trying to catch the waiters eye we were ignored for 20mins didn't even ask us if we wanted a drink. Truly shocking customer service. I rang and booked another Turkish restaurant in Potters Bar who had a table and we had a fantastic meal with friendly service. There is no way I will be going to the Wood Oven!

We visited this evening with family. We waited long time to order. Once ordered it took almost 40 minutes before we were served. Service was zero. Satff was rude a d grumpy. Gave jug of water. Was never refilled.

Ordered a take away for 8 people. Good value for money but my lamb dish with yoghurt was literally covered and took away the taste of the lamb. Good size portions and would try again but first experience wasn’t the best.

Things are not always what they seem. We were not expecting a Turkish kebab take away with some seating. The prawn starter was not very nice, watery prawns, not griddled at all. The main course of spicy kebab was nice and plenty of it. But it is not a restaurant for discerning diners. There were men dining in there wearing vests drinking out of cans. Fundamentally a take away kebab joint playing pop music with a big television on as well. Not going back.

Must be new management now as the food takes a long time and when it arrives the portions are small. Drinks are completely over priced. A decent bottle of wine is £20. This used to be amazing value for money and I went all the time. Will not be returning.

A Friday lunchtime treat excellent food, varied menu, friendly service and value for money, what more could one ask for!

We've been here a few times and I found it wasn't consistent.........my last visit was quite disappointed. The decor is still the same.......its spacious and clean......the service was very good, the staff were very attentive.......however......the sharing platters are very disappointing. The prices have gone up drastically. Not the same large platter that was enough for 3 or 4 people.......now just enough for 2 people and more expensive !!!

This place is nice and relaxed and the food is ok but today we found a black hair in the lamb shish. A previous time it was a blonde hair and the staff were adamant that they do not have a blonde member of staff working there.

Very nice place to eat your dinner. They've put up the prices, which is fair enough, everything costs and we were going there for years so got comparasment and that's the only thing that gave changed. Food still tasty, fair size portions. Vegetarian versions are probably something to work on, but generally thumbs up.

Came here this week for dinner with a group of 6 friends. The restaurant is easy to find – on the high street, and has parking at the back. Inside it is bright, clean, well laid out and well decorated. The service was friendly, polite and swift and the menu offers up a selection of cold and hot starters, with the mains mainly consisting of grilled meats, kebabs, fish or pizza. There is also a decent drinks menu and a desert menu.

Eight family members went for an early supper.

I have eaten here on two occasions and the food is of a great quality and the staff are very friendly

I have been here a few times as its a favourite with my in laws and justifiably so. Excellent food with simple ingredients cooked primarily over a charcoal range in an eastern mediterranean turkish style restaurant.

Visited several times. Always friendly service and very good choice of dishes. Not fine dining but a great for take-out and for eating in.

Excellently prepaired food served hot and fresh. Good service from polite staff in a warm friendly atmosphere. Good prices too.

It’s really difficult to cook good seafood and they certainly do. That atmosphere and. Very friendly.

We visited The Wood Oven on a Friday. The service was great, though a little rushed but then they had a party of about 20 men on a birthday night out. We didn't really need a starter but the food was superb and really tasty and I am glad we did. As I say it's a pity we felt a bit rushed as we hadn't long finished the starters and the mains arrived. I will go back but this time ask for a break between starter and main.

The food was mediocre and over priced.

Went here for my daughters birthday meal,there was 17 of us and i couldn’t fault this place even if i wanted to,we had a fantastic meal with fantastic service,lovely friendly staff and would not hesitate to go back.

Went there for lunch, the adana kofte is one of the best ive tried. Good value for money, can't go wrong.

Went here for a team lunch, despite the fact that it was not busy there were no pizzas available so several party members had to re order as the other main meals were arriving. One of those was still waiting when all other meals had been finished. Staff were argumentative when advised of the issues and were unwilling to take any money off the bill. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning

Second time we have tried this restaurant always think you should try more than once as anyone can have a bad day, sadly was the same both times ... hurried service , small portions,burnt food .We were with a group of friends and most had finished before the rest of our party were even served and some of our dishes were missing altogether !!

We are so lucky that this is just 5 minutes away, we go here all the time... for birthdays or renting with family and friends, or just for a last minute treat.The food is always spot on. All the kebabs, the grilled salmon, the prawns are soooo tasty. So much to choose from and generous portions. The staff are always great too. It's casual and family friendly, What's not to like?

My wife and I went here for dinner one evening and thoroughly enjoyed it, how ever, when I took a group of friends there.......after highly recommending it.........it just wasn't the same. So I went in and complained and hey presto..........a group of us went back and they really went out of their way for us, that's what should happen in the restaurant business. Great food, great décor, great service and very good prices. Only down side is they don't do any donor kebabs, chicken or lamb so I had a word and was told that they will be adding this to their menu. Excellent. Another regular place for us to dine at.

Went on a cold Wednesday evening, with a friend. Restaurant wasn't very busy but still found the service attentive & food very good. wasn't made to feel we had to rush at all. Certainly would go again.

Tiny portions , burnt and inedible terrible service most of our party had finished eating by the time some others finally got their meals . Sorry won't be visiting again.

This used to be a great place, now they charge the same but they have decreased their portion size. I wont be going there again. Shame as the service is good, the decor nice, its clean, use to be great value. Inconsistency is a no no is the restaurant game.

I come here every so often when i am needing a quick bite. The service is average but is what i would expect. No need to book there are plenty of tables and i have never not been able to get a seat. Some advice don't get the Chicken shish with yogurt they add £2 for literally a dollop of yogurt - not worth it. This place is kind of annoying some times they give you complementary salads and dips and other times they don't - consistency is key! its quick easy, but wouldn't go there if i was going for a proper dinner.

Went in to pick up a phone order, the man behind the counter was extremely rude and made me want to walk out and forget even collecting. If the food I was collecting not had been for a friend, I would have done so! Never have I come across someone so rude to deal with. On top of that, the order was completely incorrect, instead of shish recieved adana and other extras were missing. The adana and rice was also not great in taste. After this experience I am sure I will never order from this restaurant again

Bargain lunch deal of £7.95 for start and main course.It's basic but the food tastes great. Will head back there soon.

Nice staff and well priced. A few very good dishes but most are bland. Portion sizes vary - some better value than others. Lots to choose from so there should be something for everyone.

I took my wife here after we did some shopping and thought I would give her a break from cooking........oh what a good choice, the meat platter for 4 was amazing.....there was only two of us !!!. Great food great value great decor but the service was a bit amateur. Sort that out and you really have a great gem of a place. Planning my next trip there already !!!

The 4 of us shared a mixture of starters & all had different main meals. Food was faultless for all of us. Great surrounding & good service. Reasonable price for a high standard of food & service. I will be back!

i have been there allot gone down hill ,food smaller portions/drink expensive/charged me £2 for butter and the service .they have no personality through the food at us my dauther who is 7 said have we done something wrong i will never go there again

Popped in for an early evening meal with my wife as we were in the area. Restaurant has a nice ambience and Turkish feel which I really like. Lots of staff who were attentive. Quick service but not rushed in any way. The starter if bread and dips were simple and delicious. Between us we had the chicken and adana kebabs, and also the chicken and lamb koftus. All very tasty indeed and salad was lovely. Small points were being knocked repeatedly by waiters walking through narrow gap behind, door that lets icy wind blow through when opened (not easy to fix but small point), and home made chips would have been much nicer. Lovely restaurant and would very happily go back.

We first went there when it opened. Was very disappointed as we seemed to be forgotten and the service was slow even when they eventually got round to taking our order. I was a bit reluctent to return but my son in law wanted to try the place.Since then we have been back two times and must say the attention to customers has completely changed. So much better. Polite and helpful staff and yes, the food was good. We will certainly go back again.

I came to this restaurant as a bit of a catch up meal with a few old friends. Two of whom came regularly and bigged the place up a hell of a lot. Unfortunately it was more of a disappointment, not the food, the service.In most Turkish restaurants the service is prim and proper but here they were barely to be seen. The bread in which usually came out 'immediately' according to my friends, took ten minutes plus multiple times of them asking for it and they knew the staff members in there as well. We ordered two lachmajuns (not sure on the spelling) to start and then a variety of shish's between us. The food was consistently served slowly and we were trying to get the staffs attention multiple times regarding drink top ups and extra sauces. Even when we got the bill we were waiting around 8-10 minutes after we had put our cards down to pay the bill with the card machine.I come from a hospitality background, with a fair few years experience and this customer service was slack. Overall the food was pretty good but the service is where my custom will be lost. Wouldn't recommend for that reason.

So I've been coming here for a year now, and I can't even count the amount of times we've visited. Been here for two family members birthdays, and they provided a slice of cake and sang happy birthday when it was my nans birthday. Now honestly, they do have their bad days.. Just like EVERY place but I think that's mostly dependant on what staff is on. There are two young boys that are always smiling and so friendly and full of banter. The food is incredible, definitely recommend a platter if there's two/three of you

Poor customer service and not so much children and vegetarian friendly. Food arrived very late and staff were rude as we ordered only 1 main between 2 adults.

Been quite a few times and have to say it's very good. Superb ingredients and cooked to perfection. Not the greatest of decor in my opinion but more than compensated for by the food.

The menu has so much choice that it makes it difficult to decide! Enjoyed the chicken salad - freshly grilled chicken with feta cheese, avocado and salad. It was delicious. The Efes draught beer was also excellent.Recommend.

Definitely the best kebabs in Potters Bar. Friendly staff, great food, lovely atmosphere. Food is freshly prepared and cooked in front of you. I would recommend the lamb shish or lamb kofta!

Wood oven has become my favourite place to eat in potters bar. You still can't beat Silver Jubilee for the amazing tender meat but I love wood oven because you get more. I mean with a take away kebab you also get rice, bread and salad which all taste great. Other kebab shops would just give you the meat with a pitta so wood oven go that extra mile which makes it my number one choice. Highly recommended.

We've got a takeaway several times, and are yet to be dissapointed.Great tasting grills / BBQ / kebabs, all cooked fresh and over charcoals which give it the best flavour and smell.Lamb shish wrap, with the traditional parsley and onion salad and lots of lemon is a winner every time. Turkish pizza (lahmacun) is also always nice too. Best kebab takeaway I've had in the area so far

Ate in this restaurant this evening and received awful service. We only had two courses and everything was so slow. It took over two hours and we run out of time to order dessert as we was waiting for so long. One of our party ordered lamb and was brought chicken and the waiter was so rude and said he definitely ordered chicken. Also had a problem with the starters as brought 10 mins apart. After that we got no more service from the waiter and I finally paid the bill at the cash desk as we couldn't get them to come over. We won't be back.

Always seems busy. We get our takeaway from them and the kebabs come with rice with lovely bread on the side..... them always add in a free taster pudding or a dip to the order.
