No working toilets, bad rude service, terrible over priced food. Had my worst restaurant experience here.

I miss these so much that my family sent the chollas in the post! Not sure about the eat in food but with cholla this good, just sit in and eat cholla for a 5 star meal.

Nice afternoon to sit outside we enjoyed a light lunch with soft drinks and coffee. Excellent service and food was nice albeit a bit expensive.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times with friends and family for lunch and dinner. It is one of my favourite places to eat because of the large portion sizes and high quality food. The service is also good and safe Covid measures. Strongly recommend going - the smoothies are great, recommend the halloumi sandwich, bread and breakfast and salads.

It was the first time since lockdown that the three of us had eaten out. All the necessary measures were in place. Staff excellent - attentive, efficient and friendly. As always, the food was fresh although I thought the portion sizes were smaller than I had had when I last visited. Coffee served hot. I had reserved a table in the shade - delighted to be back at Kanteen!

Had a tomato omelet which came with granary toast, cream cheese and a big salade. All for £8.00 Excellent value, well presented and served with a smile..

Had lunch there today with our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. The kids menu is great value (£7.95 for 3 courses and a soft drink) and the service was friendly and efficient. 90 minutes for the visit and just over £40 for the three of us.

Thank goodness there is a choice of Kosher places to eat in NW London. The service here reminds me of the 60's and 70's at Blooms in Golders Green, when it was the only place to dine in a Kosher restaurant. The service there was at best bad and probably terrible. The Kanteen manages to go one better (or is it one worse) I's not terrible, merely non-existent. If you want Kosher food and even mediocre service don't go anywhere near this place. I go to Kanteen from time to time and have always found it to be terrific. I hear people say the service is below par but that has never been my experience. Love that you can have brunch type food any time of day. And I usually by a fresh baked loaf of bread as I leave. Really enjoy. Thanks.

We tried this place for the first time. We will never return again due to the very rude, disinterested, miserable staff. Service is also very slow..we ordered drinks then food, food arrived before our teas/coffees, we had to wait ages for our drinks! It’s a shame as the interior is lovely and it has the potential to be a great place, if only the staff cracked a smile!

The Kanteen in Bushey is a dependable and reliable restaurant where professional presentation and quality food is the norm. Portions are suitably and admirably in good measure which compliments the good feel factor in having had a good experience after your meal. I recommend it.

Service isn’t the fastest but the food is worth the wait. We went for lunch and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We had the fish tacos and the noodles; portions of both were very generous and neither of us could finish our meals. Four coffees and two main courses came to £50. I would have scored this 5 if it was less expensive.

This is a bizarre restaurant. Despite having a fairly comprehensive menu with some nice food on it, the staff seem absolutely determined to undermine the business by their apathy and general rudeness. We have eaten there once; being ignored by an obtuse front of house lady, our order was incorrectly fulfilled and the waitresses spent most of their attention on their phones. Most recently we went in to buy bread and said front of house lady managed to conduct a conversation without looking up. Judging by some of the other comments on here, this critique should not come as a surprise to the management.

Nice food I had the french toast it was really nice but it took a long time my dad had toast it was good but a bit over priced I think it is a bit expensive and you should only go there for special accessions.

This is my second visit to Kanteen, and yet again I wasn’t disappointed. We had a really great lunch, the food was excellent, the mushroom and haloumi salad was fab. Not the cheapest lunch I’ve ever had but it when it’s good it doesn’t matter

Two for a weekday lunch. We did not have any problems with service, as so many other reviewers seem to have suffered. The food arrived within a reasonable time and was well presented and tasty.

Shame because we are local and have been coming here for years but the staff are just so miserable and rude. Rather go over the road where they are always delightfully friendly and not as expensive.

Visited The Kanteen for the first time this week, absolutely no idea how this place slipped past me. I had the mushroom and haloumi salad with a side of fries Absolutely cracking meal and I will definitely be going back again soon

We all eat here fairly often because a couple of people in our group are kosher. The food is always lovely.. And yeah, the service isn't great when you get there..... But it always picks up when you gently and politely let them know you only have an hour for lunch! My observations seem to show that making a big antagonistic fuss really seems to slow things down....

I fully appreciate that the Jewish crowd can be difficult customers and unfortunately some can be very rude - but not all of us are like that and so we'd appreciate friendlier service when eating at The Kanteen!

One word: fabulous!!! Great breakfast!!!! Absolutely perfect. Everything was fresh , perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.we would definitely recommend it.

Ordered a pasta and sandwich waited 40 minutes pasta got chucked on the table no cuttlery provided 10 minutes later i took the pasta in and asked to keep it warm as a simple sandwich was s6till not ready... i went in and asked what was happening with the food and the waitress read out a completely different order sandwich comes out and bow i was waiting for the pasta and cuttlery. I demanded to speak to the manager who then goes on to tell me ahe is having trouble with that waiter....not proffesional if you hire incompetent staff thats your problem not the customers... finally after an hour and 10 minutes sat with the food and asked for parmessan cheese four times... instead the waiters sat there charting and started cleaning tables...i ended up having a go and in the end got £2.55 taken off our bill... if you were that sorry as they kept saying... you should really have said the meal is free please just pay for the drinks... the restaurant was filthy to add to it... a rable that was vacated when we got in was till filthy when we were leaving.. will not be returning ever again.

Went to Kanteen for what we thought would be a quick lunch. The service was just so slow, and the waitresses seemed more interested in chatting to each other at the counter than dealing with the customers. When our order was eventually taken, one drink arrived but when we didn’t have the other two ten minutes later, we had to ask for them. The food was tasty but when you are charging a premium (£10 for a toasted bagel and salad) you expect service to be good. The other issue I had was that I ordered an apple juice, however when I tasted it I could tell it was a diluted apple drink; things should be advertised better on their menu. We didn’t pay the ‘optional’ service charge they automatically added to the bill as it was just poor. Could be so much better.

Had lunch here as we were trying to kill time waiting to collect a new car. It's a really bitg restaurant and there weren't too many in being a lunchtime so a quiet. We ordered Pizza, and chips. The Pizza was nice and cheesy. It's more of a formal lunch price than a quick bit to eat price

This is not a 4 star and not 3 so something in the middle. The food was ok with a good menu which is varied, all the food was taste and no plates were left unfinished. Only let down was the feta salad. Service was good can't complain. Would go back

As an occasional visitor to London we visit this restaurant once or twice a year. The food is certainly good quality but the owner is gouging his customers. Last week, five of us ate there and the bill came to £88 of which £8 was an 'optional service charge'. I asked the waitress if she and her colleagues were given the service charge, but she said "No, it goes to the boss". So I asked for it to be removed and I would give her a tip in cash, but she wasn't allowed to do that she said.

I went to the Kanteen restaurant today for lunch with my friend. It is a kosher vegetarian restaurant with a varied menu.

Friendly service with tasty food! Didn’t wait for long for anything and really felt welcome and full. I left a poor review for this place earlier based on bad service but I must give credit where it’s due- and I will happily visit again soon!

I've been to this place a few times now. The food is good, generous portions enough for two people. But the service is really poor and slow. The staff don't seem to be too concerned about customer service.

Based on an American dinner. This is a bright comfortable restaurant that specialises in waffles and ice cream. The coffee is good and so are the breakfasts and lunches. The owner Gino is charming and all of the staff friendly.

Whenever I go to the kanteen, they are ALWAYS out of stock on something. On my most recent visit, they were out of pancakes, last occasion they had no pizza! Nice food and seating arrangment but the service is too slow. Friendly waiters though.

Wonderful decor. Food was ok. Big portions. Totally overpriced for what it is though. £40 for two breakfasts, chips and two drinks. More concerning however, was the wait for food. About half an hour for a simple order. Staff are very friendly but extremely slow and inattentive. Forgot our tap water. Had to be repeatedly prompted for things even though they were standing around near us. Took forever to place our order, clear our food, pay our bill etc. Then placed a couple on a table behind us right next to my buggy when there was plenty of space in the rest of the restaurant. It's not fair on other diners to be sat next to a baby buggy banging against their chair when they could sit elsewhere in peace. If they just sort out the service it would be a lovely place to go.

My wife and I ate here for Sunday lunch. The décor is quite modern and pleasing on the eye, The Kanteen certainly stands out on this front relative to other competitors in the area. The menu is extensive and has a large variety of food items. Sadly this is where the compliments end. This restaurant had the worst service I have had in many years. Firstly the table we were sat on still had crumbs on from the previous diners, when I asked for the table to be cleaned the waitress just brushed off the crumbs with her hand on to the floor! There were multiple other errors with food missing, incorrect food arriving at the table as well as timing issues. I would like to think we were unlucky but the reality is the tables beside us were going through the same issues. I have never been to a restaurant where so many errors have occurred at a single sitting, it was almost like we were dining at faulty towers. What was most shocking about the events was that the restaurant was not short staffed nor was it a busy sitting, the staff simply were not trained sufficiently to execute their roles. Once we did receive the food it was ok tasting, it was neither memorable or terrible. We certainly will not be visiting The Kanteen anytime soon.

We went to order and pick up some food for a relative in a local hospital. The staff were incompetent. It took them over 30 minutes to bring a simple order, without there being a queue. The young girl waitress (the only non-Eastern European) who was moaning that she had too much work to do and looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. The food was mediocre at best. Certainly not worth the ridiculous pricing. Avoid this place.

I might as well of been invisible, the time I a managed to squeeze in an hour with some quality time with my sister to have a quick coffee, we both got ignored, after 20 minutes of waiting for service I got up to complain and finally the waitress came to our table, placed our coffee orderes and they ordered the wrong coffee to my sister and my coffee was cold, that was the last time we the waitress got to our table. The waitress Ignored us and started to serve new customers, thus having to be in the cafe for 45 minutes with nothing but a cold coffee. Never stepping foot in there again!

Absolutely diabolical. Went for breakfast - first time visit but never again.Ordered toast with preserves plus coffee. Had to send toast back because it was cold by the time the butter and jam arrived 10 mins later. Waitress shouted at me because I asked for the butter before the replacement of toast also went cold. Then had to wait 5 mins for the milk to go with coffee. My friend had a croissant but had to wait 10 mins for the preserves. Only thing they got right was to bring milk with her tea at the same time. Bill came to £11.65 with the optional service added. Not cheap by any means.No excuse.They had three members of staff on duty and they were not busy - outside there were 8 people and inside two other tables were occupied.Management please note - just because you are the only Kosher establishment please do not think that you can continue to get away with this.

Went for breakfast and the waitress got one order wrong, when asked where the missing items were she replied "I thought you ordered the other breakfast so you will need to pay extra"...when challenged and admitting it was her error she still insisted it would be extra. After a few minutes they gave the missing item however after paying almost £50 for three average breakfasts and poor service they didn't even let us get out the door before remarking that we hadn't left the full OPTIONAL service charge. Don't worry we won't be back again so no need to remember our faces.

We sat down for a nice business breakfast and ended up with the worst service ever. The staff are rude and the food overpriced for what it was. Change your staff or you will loose all your customers. Optional service charge which we then got told not to return as we didn't pay the service. Why tip when the service was dreadful will never return to such a shabby environment. Avoid at all costs.

The Kanteen has recently be refurbished to a high standard. The service and food however have much to be desired. Staff don't listen to the orders clearly and the food quality is well below average.Food is well overpriced and mainly attracts young families with children. My wife and I ordered an extra thick milkshake which despite being told was made with ice cream was not and tasted awful. I actually paid extra to have a scoop of ice cream blended in to make it edible. The waffle was tasteless and as was the vanilla ice cream and the squirt cream on top tasted like shaving foam. One of my two coffees was cold and that came to £20!I would not waste my money here again....

I am sorry to say but only go when there no options as since it opened the staff within seconds of sitting ask for the order give us a minute ! this happen 3 times within as many minutes shame is the food is good and price ok But they did not ask did we want a drink and to get a coffee or any thing they now dont come by at all

Family snack lunch for a birthday...service without smile, excellent choice on menu, served reasonably promptly good portions hot where necessary,nothing special I think above average cost, helpful pleasant waitress but smile missing( she didnt look happy in her job) or thats how it came across.

Recently revamped, this eatery has also perhaps inevitably pared down its menu. What we had was good though. Lemon salmon on a bed of roasted vegetables very tasty indeed. Nice teriyaki/lemon infusion sauce. Desserts also good but high on the calorie count. Maybe they should consider offering a smaller portion with a coffee on the side? Incidentally, their cholla bread available Friday morning and the bagels are superb.

Recently refurbished with warm woods and a more upscale feel, The Kanteen has a revised menu too. Some old favourites may have gone but the food and service has improved and overall this is once again a lovely place for a bite to eat. However the larger restaurant comes at the expense of their bakery range which is a pity.

nice atmosphere, food seemed fine, I had the Falafel salad tasted a bit bland, my friend had the Rarebit, wished I had that instead hers looked really tasty. Nice breakfast menu, will definitely return. a bit pricey though.

Enjoyed brunch at the newly refurbished The Kanteen last week. Really enjoyable, both the food and the service is very good. Its a really pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. Would heartily recommend.....

What a lovely restaurant. I popped in with the family the other day and we all had a great lunch. This was the first time we'd been to this restaurant. The staff were very friendly especially to my kids. The food was great and very reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back !

So I took my bfriedn to this place as we both been traveled from St Albans. I must said I have never been eating in Kosher place before but I said : let's try! For starter we ordered humus with falafel and tomato soup ! Was amazing! For mains we get Stir fried noodles with salmon ( bingo!) and pizza with 4 different kind of cheese . We enjoyed it very much ! Service was good and quiet quick. Waitress helped as to choose the best dishes from the menu what was really helpful! Great atmosphere and perfect place for quiet dinner with friends and family. I definitely will be back there.

I come to the kanteen once a week for 45 mins while my daughter is in a class. Throughout the time that I've been coming it was never less than a pleasure to spend my time there. What ever I tried on the menus was delicious and the service was always fantastic! The manager and the owner make me feel as if I'm hosted in their living room and I can't recommend this place more! Truly lovely.

had a fish burger and my wife had a ravioli, the dishes were big and tasty, the staff was friendly and kind... not cheap but good value for money.highly recommended!

The restaurant appeared modern from the outside however, do not be fooled by the appearance. The tomato soup was served cold, the taste of the rest of the food was not to a Italian standard. The service was disgustingly terrible because were rude and did not want to provide a good customer experience. The food was overpriced for what it was. I would have rather have eaten MacDonalds.

As my husband is wheelchair bound we phoned and explained we needed easy access to a table for a wheelchair. On arrival the manager and staff ignored us and we struggled to find a table ourselves.(We did book in advance).It was lunchtime and very full and people at various tables got up to help us access a table while the staff looked on. Once seated it took the waitress 15 minutes to ask us if we wanted anything to drink let alone take our order. The food was fair(nothing to write home about) and the portions adequate but quite pricey for a brunch. My husband and daughter both ordered coffee which they said was the worst they have ever had.On the whole the service from the staff has put me off ever going to this restaurant again.

Reluctantly went to Kanteen where I had vowed never to go again but I thought "I only want a coffee" and it's near to where I live. On walking through the door to a recently refurbished establishment, which has made it look much bigger by taking the booths away, we thought the service, maybe, had improved. Nooooo. The waitress pointed to a table and told a young girl (staff) to take our order but she went to another table and then another table before my friend got up and asked another member of staff to take our order (which she didn't) and then this original young girl came to our table. She did apologise and we asked for 2 double espresso macchiatos and I asked if they had any scones (she said, yes and do you want it toasted and I replied, yes) My friend asked if they had donuts and she said yes. Coffee came and although I like a strong coffee this was soooo strong and quite unpleasant. The "toasted" scone had just glanced at the grill and was white and not fresh. Gross. My friend's donut was a pastry base with jam on and a mound on top. It did not resemble a donut. She only ate a tiny bit. Service and food dire. Definitely last time I will go. Sorry.

My wife and I ate here and it wasn't particularly full.The food came quickly, though I think the portions have got smaller. Quite expensive and not amazing taste, but okay.

Why are people like me willing to pay £8.50 for a bagel and small salad, both of which were very ordinary? Guess they work on the principle that you have no choice if you want kosher, but totally unacceptable. Would also be an improvement if the staff spoke/understood English. Never again.

Avocado/ egg sandwich was very expensive for a thin layer of egg, it was dry and I think the avocado got lost!!! A few mixed leaves with too much chopped onion and a few olives in a bowl Waitress was very sad too. I am not surprised. One drink and one sandwich £15 including service that had already been added. I would never go there again. Many more places to go that are far superior and much better value.

Terrible service. Told the waitress we were in a rush, food still took 45 minutes to arrive. No care from the staff, they're rude and inattentive. Food is very very average and expensive. Will not be returning.

When it opened The Kanteen set the standard for Israeli-style food in the area and it used to be full most evenings. Whilst its bakery remains excellent, the restaurant is starting to look tired, especially the banquettes and the paintwork. The food is good - there's a vast menu - but it has lost a little sparkle and the quality isn't where it used to be. Portions remain large and this time service was very good, from a young, enthusiastic server who was working part-time to get through college. Drinks are expensive and avoid drinking wine, as a bottle that costs £9 from a liquor store was £37 here. Tellingly the restaurant was perhaps 70% full when we went on a Sunday night, and it's clear that increasing competition and a slip in standards is making a dent in its popularity. I hope it recovers, as I have a soft spot for The Kanteen.

Good for a continental breakfast, this place have a good variety of croassants, and perfect for brunch all the dishes are delicious, my favourite is eggs benedict.

As a Bushey resident I have been going to this resturant since it opened. I was a regular visitor for years then about two years ago it went right off the boil. The staff couldn't really be bothered and through language difficulties orders were often wrong. The portions have always been huge and quality and flavours very good. With the exception of their croissant and pastries which for some reason have never been great, which I find very odd as half of this resturant is a bakery. However they have now employed a charming , friendly and handsome manager who is definitely making improvements. If like me you stopped going, give it another try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

It was a last minute decision to go to this cafe with my dear friends. An excellent choice. The food was amazing, the portion sizes fantastic and the ambience was lovely despite being very quite with not many clientele. We were all ravenous so went straight onto mains. I shared the Kanteen noodle dish (with salmon cubes) and the Deli salad(with tuna, eggs and avacado) with my friend and both were really tasty. Suffice to say we were well stuffed! However, regardless of that we decided to order a chocolate waffle to share between six...yes, one between six!! OMG - were we grateful we did that since the portion size was generous and it was so delicious that we could have easily have had one each, which would not have done our waistlines any favours whatsoever!!!! All in all, a lovely evening with amazing ladies and fantastic food. I am definitely going back - sooner than later!

Modern styled cafe/restaurant, actually in Bushey Heath rather than Bushey village. Funky tables and chinaware, we only went in for a coffee. Outside seating available, not recommended on a cold or windy day. Nice layout, but a strange walk to the toilets, past store rooms, kitchens and staff rooms. Caters a lot for the local Jewish community, signage indicated Kosher dining approved. Nice coffee. Staff quite good, all Eastern European by the accents.

I used to visit often with my family , the place is decorated well and appealing and has a good atmosphere. The food portions are huge but i found it pricey for what it is . If you have a large family it is not going to be cheap :(

No it wasnt the weather. We order a croissant which when it arrived felt rather heavy. On cutting it my guest found out it was not only solid in the centre but Frozen. Why they cant supply fresh is beyond me. So 4 coffees and 2 lots of mini danish also frozen but now thawed, was in my opinion not worth half the disgusting £17.30 I paid. Never again.

Three of us met for lunch in this milky kosher restaurant. Always busy and always noisy however the service is efficient and the staff pleasant and obliging. Plenty of dishes to choose from all of them fresh delicious and generous portions. Good venue to meet and eat without having to pay a fortune.

I recently was in Brent Cross and needed to sit each lunch and feed my baby. Sadly as the baby was crying I just sat my self straight at a table outside the restaurant to quickly feed baby and was hoping someone would come over and offer me a menu. I finished feeding baby and put her back in the pushchair and for over 30mins not one waiter/waitress stopped by my table that was in front of them to see if I was interested in a drink or food. Poor service is an understatement considering they came to the tables next to me.

I come here every week the service is awful the staff are rude and the other customers are just non interested. Why do people come here for there is no ambiance service or great food only over prices bagles.

Recently visited for a coffee and hot chocolate. The place feels like it needs a really good clean and a bit of a refurb. It was freezing cold so had to sit with our coats on and the drinks were barely warm.I wouldn't choose to eat here because it doesn't feel clean and even the menus needed a wipe down! It is wasn't terrible but I probably wouldn't visit here again.

This restaurant adds to all bills an automatic 10% 'service charge', none of which goes to the staff. This, of itself, is an unfair (possibly illegal ?) practice. However, the issue is compounded by the fact that the staff have been instructed by the owner, if questioned by customers, to say that they do receive all or part of the service charge. This is unacceptable bullying of staff and should be investigated by the appropriate authorities

I cannot decide if the terrible food is the biggest put off, or the total lack of service or the incredible rip-off prices.Which ever one it is do not come here.

The Kanteen has become a weekly dinner joint for me - The food is Kosher and great - huge huge portions and always consistent and great quality. I would certainly recommend the menu - and it's a huge selection.Don't go if you are looking for Great Service - the service is rude at best and mostly indifferent and the place really isnt that clean - it really could do with some deep deep cleaning.Great Food - Not Great Service - But good enough to return time and time again

Overall a nice experience in this cafe. Food is good overall and staff are pleasant enough. I go there with my work staff and would certainly recommend the Kanteen.

I went to the Kanteen for lunch before going to see Mamma Mia in London with my best friend. We were almost late but were quickly seated and served. I see a lot of reviews saying the staff is rude, but from what I saw and experienced they weren't. We did have to repeat the order once, but only due to language barrier. Who can be blamed for that? He was helpful and professional. Good service and great food. The portions were a good size. Would definitely visit again.This was at the Brent Cross location.
