My recent business meeting visit highlighted the exceptional quality of their fresh food. The grilled fresh lobster, though small due to the season was fantastic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Dover sole on the bone, which really showcased the fish's freshness – I believe it comes from the owner's friend's boat. The panko king prawns with lemon were also excellent. Prices are fair for the fresh-caught fish selection, including Dover sole, skate, halibut, and sea bass. steaks are also very good . The staff were excellent. Would I return? Try and stop me

Average pub selling average beer staffed by mildly obnoxious staff. Not recommended unless you like sky sports news and sticky floors.

I shop regularly here and food is great but the customer service has dropped dramatically i tried telephoning through an order and got cut off twice then the person who i was speaking to decided to start taking another order from someone inn the shop i found this really rude. I will not be going back as bad service has made me not want to go back

Excellent food ,good friendly staff ,well kept beers ,very clean,,dog friendly small bar ,last old type pubs.

Lovely place to stop for a friendly greeting, a delicious sandwich and a great pint. Stopped there on our way to Colchester.

Popped in on a Sunday evening with wife and son. Had the set menu which was very reasonably priced. Food tasted great and was enjoyed by all.

Great food, excellent value for money, had the lunchtime special. Service was quick and cheerful. Old charm inside the pub, external table and chairs available if required. Easy parking to rear

Sadly, the bar food was terrible, pizzas soggy, burnt bases. Setvice was appallingly slow, and the pub had very few customers. At 9pm on a Friday evening, we were asked to move from the garden to inside due to apparent noise complaints from the neighbours! At 9pm?? What a shame. Will not be coming back. On a plus point, the garden is lovely, but clearly on a sunny warm evening, customers are not allowed to use it.

We went for a Sunday roast and were very disappointed. Our food was very basic, beef was tough and dry. Definitely warmed under a heater and just not a nice fresh roast. The chicken was equally dry. It sounds good on the menu, chilli enfused tenderstem broccoli was simply broccoli with chilli sprinkled on top for £6.50. We thought we would try here because of the good reviews but we were very let down. It was also expensive for the poor quality. Staff were pleasant so we did leave a tip but just for this reason.

*DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN* Young girls get spiked here and the staff/security do absolutely nothing to protect them, which is suspicious in itself… Security here actually said the girls who were spiked were causing a scene and should leave, they later ended up in hospital. PLEASE be extremely careful if you decide to go here, you will not be cared for by the people who are literally hired and paid to look out for you.

Great beer selection from local breweries. Food always good. Reasonable prices. Booking usually required as very popular over the weekend.

We visited the pub, service was ok and the beer was nice. A bit more expensive than I would have liked. The Texan BBQ was average with an overwhelming amount of bbq sauce that I had to scrape of with a knife before eating. Really good location though. Truffle fries were nice.
