Food was ok delivery was early. Promotion said spend £25 get free mini veggie rolls. Spent over £25. They were not with the order. Held back ordering another dish as we were expecting them. Disappointed and still hungry 😔
Very hit and miss one day could have a very good meal the next it’s stale cold and seems like it’s been sitting there for ages
One thing the boy with the nose ring and long hair needs to wear a hair net or at least tie it back and stop playing with it then serve food
The Delivery driver was polite and it came quick enough which was fine.
But just under £27 for two dishes?
It was extremely over priced for what we received.
The two dishes we ordered were the hot milk chocolate cookie dough (which tasted alright, nothing special - which it should’ve been at that price)
And the “smoking sizzly sizzler brownie platter” which was an utter abysmal, absolutely terrible. It was like a mashed up broken cake, and for that price I’m absolutely gutted - I feel conned!
I wouldn’t recommend those dishes 😂😂
This the cafe at the House. Dreadful tepid 'hot' chocolate. A veggie sausage roll warmed up in the microwave, so was soggy! Drippy waitresses that need to tie their hair up and try and wake up! We will not return!

Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms leaving something to be desired, not a bad size, just not overly clean. Found a few stray hairs in the bathroom. And quite a few marks on the carpets in the corridors.
Its worth paying the extra and just going to a Premier Inn.
Poor organisation... mains coming out for half the table with the rest to follow as long as 10minutes...
Same with coffees and desserts not arriving until ages after.
No initiative with the staff and rude and fed up attitude.
With so many options around this is a place to avoid and i will not be going back or recommend.
Food was average.
Visited Chelmsford for some shopping and stopped in here on the way home. Had Gary as a server who seated us and served us quickly. I have to say I never expect much from a Toby but value but the food was pipping hot and spot on. I could not fault it. It was busy but service was very smooth. Would definitely revisit this branch again. Went with two friends as well and they all had a great experience too. 5*
I absolutely loved my visit to The Anchor today. The food was excellent, as was the atmosphere. The pub was beautifully decorated inside and out for Christmas while Christmas classic songs gently played. The staff were efficient and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this delightful pub.

Please please stay away the service is poor the food is below poor . Absolute waste of money and it was a special occasion asked to speak to the manager with the problems that we had. The answer was I’m only in employee. There’s many restaurants in Chelmsford spend your money elsewhere.
Our favourite venue for a meal, the service is always first class and selection of
food is always variable. local parking is ideal for me as walking is limited. It is a family venue Thankyou for always making the effort.
How disappointed we were I booked a table for 7 people at 11:30 and a further 7 people for 12 noon
We were running the Chelmsford 10k and half marathon
The 11:30 crowd arrived early and had breakfast The older lady in charge was very abrupt bordering on rudeness
There were 2tables reserved for 12noon crowd which we suggested she gave up as people were waiting and we would go when the others arrived hence giving them our table
I have subsequently heard that they were requested to leave as they had been sitting there from 11am and one lady was not allowed to finish her meal
It was not just us who found her attitude rude but subsequent other diners not linked to our group
I come into Small Talk when I visit Chelmsford but after this experience I shan’t visit again
A very disappointed diner
Yeh attitudes at this restaurant is appalling, when I arrived I found my table, then approached the till to place my order it was 11:28, there was no one at the till as they were making coffee, they did acknowledge me and said they world be with me in a moment, when they did arrive to take my order at 11:33 they said they stopped taking breakfast orders at 11:30, had they served me while I was waiting I would have got my order in.
I just think is diabolical the attitude, I was kept waiting for 5 mins, and then they did not take my order, I think even Ryanair would allow 3 mins grace! Even though I was not looking for grace I was there at 11:28 but kept waiting for 5 mins.
Definitely the last time I will visit this place!
So be aware! Get to the till quickly and get served.
