Whammy Chew’s in Chelmsford

The Delivery driver was polite and it came quick enough which was fine. But just under £27 for two dishes? It was extremely over priced for what we received. The two dishes we ordered were the hot milk chocolate cookie dough (which tasted alright, nothing special - which it should’ve been at that price) And the “smoking sizzly sizzler brownie platter” which was an utter abysmal, absolutely terrible. It was like a mashed up broken cake, and for that price I’m absolutely gutted - I feel conned! I wouldn’t recommend those dishes 😂😂

Waffle was burnt on top and under cooked in the middle. You could see the unbaked dough. Delivery was 45mins late from estimated time.

So disappointed! Myself and my wife had two scoops of ‘gelato’ each which tasted less like quality gelato and more like cheap supermarket ice cream that had well gone past its sell by date. We were given the smallest serving (which was a blessing we realised after trying the awful stuff) we also found a hair in one of the tubs then charged £8 for the pleasure! Our advice would be to avoid at all costs, we certainly won’t be going back!!!

Well if you want what's on their menu choose somewhere else to get it from. Whammy Chew is overpriced under bad management with rude staff. The food is awful we ordered waffles, what could be easier to make, well, Whammy Chew's needs lessons on how to cook them, ours tasted as though they were cooked the day before and re -heated they certainly weren't fresh. The ice cream had thawed and refrozen with ice crystals in it. The sprinkles had passed their sell by date as was the marsh mallows. All in all a bad day so, save your money and spend it elsewhere there is a lot better than Whammy Chews in Chelmsford.

We ordered waffles and a milkshake with Deliveroo we waited an hour and a half for them to make our order and then once we had payed and waited for so long it said our order was on its way then we got a text saying our order had been cancelled by then we had waited 2 hours and they have cancelled our order and taken our money !! Worst place to go

I came in with my nieces. Ordered 3 shake only two turned up. When I asked where the 3rd was I was told I’d only order two ...........strange they knew with one was missing thou. Over priced for what it is

such good food , i came here with my friend and they serve the most amazing desserts , our waffles were made so quickly and lovely fresh fruit was used , ice cream on the side is also yummy , will 100% come here again . The restaurant itself is quite small however it is very homely and cozy

My family went out for dinner to celebrate a birthday and afterwards we really fancied some ice cream as it had been such a hot day but everything was closed. We did a quick search and saw that this place was still open and had a nice walk up to Moulsham street to get us all a couple of scoops:) Also nice to see that the gluten free flavours were easily distinguished! I had chocolate and strawberry, both very scrummy.

Ordered deserts for my children as a treat and the gps came up stating ‘drivers signal has been lost but your food is on its way’ the food never arrived and there is no working contact number for the restaurant to contact them. I am now at a loss of £27 and no deserts. Absolutely disgusted and the restaurant is now under investigation due to the theft of the money. AVOID

Dreadful service pathetic waffles and disgusting choc fudge Sizzlers. Waitress never smiled even once in about 40 mins we were there. Only family in the shop yet had to call the waitress by getting up multiple times. Avoid . Very disappointed.

Worst experience ever! Avoid! Ordered through deliver roo and when it turned up it was not only cold but undercooked when previously have been pretty good! Not worth the money not when paying £7 per item.. absolutely appalling Never EVER eating here again!!

I went to Whammy Chew’s in June last year and it was lovely! So my friend and I decided to go back, the men that worked there both times were very kind. But the food was undercooked and it made my friends and I feel sick. Never coming here again!

Great little Jem was easy to park in Moulsham street and we all had more than enough to eat highly recommend.

Visited due to the December offers. We had a problem with the 1st batch of waffles and they happily replaced them. 1st time we’ve ever had any issues and dealt with politely and quickly. As usual 2nd batch was delicious. White Hot Chocolate was too sweet to drink all of but still nice. Daughter is appalled to discover her picture is part of their tv advertising!!

There’s so much choice - it’s tough to decide when everything looks so tempting! I tried the hot cookie dough which was delicious. Very rich but I have a mega sweet tooth. Perfectly accompanied by a scoop of snickers ice cream. We didn’t have dessert at the restaurant we had dinner at, so we could go here instead. A great little local business.

Great food! Definitely the best dessert restaurant in Essex! Food is always at a high standard and great quality! Always looks like the pictures you see online! Great selection of chocolate bars and sweets to mix and match how you like it! Great shakes and cakes aswell! Always a pleasure in here and never been let down by the food or the staff!

I’ve been saving myself for this visit and it didn’t disappoint! Soo much choice , I can’t wait to go again to try something else from the menu. Added bonus they’re open late even in a Sunday

First time coming to a place like this and it did not disappoint. The service was great and the desserts are unbelievable. The man behind the counter was very patient and helpful with my children that couldn’t make up their mind as there was so much choice. Will definitely return

Came to Whammy Chews with a hunger for waffles and they more than satisfied me!! Great selections and great tasting! I had the banoffee one, still makes my mouth water now! When In Chelmsford whammy chews must be tried.

Food was great quality, staff were super friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our order to be ready!

Have you ever walked into a place and the smell makes you feel like a kid. You know the smells I’m on about!

Anyone who says they only ordered one thing is crazy! I had the waffle with kinder bueno and a frog freak shake! Soooooo good!! Looking forward to coming back and defeating the challenge one day . The deliveroo is going to be very well used in the winter too!

Popped in for a quick bite the other week. Can’t recommend this place more! Excellent friendly staff and service, got one of the sundaes and even had a crack at their milkshake challenge which was a good laugh! Anyone in the Chelmsford area after some sweet treats check it out

After reading a select few of the reviews about the service I was abit sceptical about eating here but as I walked through the doors I was greeted with a big smile and a hello. After talking to the worker I was informed that they’ve had a turnover of staff and you can tell it’s worked as it was really busy. We ordered the waffles with Nutella and they wasn’t shy about the portion size much to my delight. The food was delicious and fresh tasting unlike creams, who’s taste as tho they’ve been reheated in the microwave. We both left highly satisfied and in need of a nap! 100% will be going again... and again!

Ive been to a number of different desert restaurants like this one and the atmospere and deserts are unreal at whammy chews. Being a small business instead of a chain i feel the staff work extra hard to deliver a good service and i really enjoy all their deserts from the wide range they serve. I have been back now several times with friends and family and family and friends i have heard have been back without me as they too also enjoyed it here. Keep up the good work and deserts guys

The food is very good with great choice - also prices are good on food. However, when we walked in, there was no welcome or acknowledgement that we had even arrived. Went and sat down in the booth, no member of staff came over so we had to go up and order ourselves. Staff were not helpful and were actually very rude. Shame as the food is good.

The food was lovely and plentiful but the customer service was below expectations- not a friendly welcome or attitude. It isn’t until you order at the counter that you find out it is cash payments only.

This is a great thing to come to Chelmsford as this is what the city was lacking. Good choice on the menu of different drinks and desserts. Cash payment only.

So we visited Sunday for the 1st time and wasn’t sure if we’d get a table as I’ve read how busy it can get on weekends but luckily a table was just being cleared by one of the waitresses ,

Came here with my boyfriend a couple of nights ago and we will definitely be back!

Have been twice now, this time we went on a Saturday night at about 10pm and we were the only ones there, we sat ourselves down and ordered with no trouble.

This place could do with a lot of upgrading. The desserts I got were good, however they advertise Nutella on their desserts, however it’s definitley nutella, it’s a non branded chocolate spread. The ice cream had a icey taste and wasn’t cream which I personally prefer, however my mum said it tasted homemade and age preferred the icy ice cream. I went in as I came across a advert on instagram otherwise, I’ve driven past countless times. The outside looks as though it’s closed and when I entered, no one greeted me or asked if I had been before. All the staff were at the back of the shop and could not been seen. We just assumed we have to go up and order ourselves. The staff were not particularly friendly or asked if we had been before, if everything was ok. Considering it’s a new company, they just weren’t welcoming. It’s a really dark place with no decorations, music or anything. I would go again, however it is overpriced and once Creams comes to Chelmsford, I won’t bother going again.
