Had a fantastic experience would highly recommend

TLDR: Ordered an expensive 'vegan' burger, subsequently threw up. Wouldnt reccomend. Me and my partner have been going to TGIs for years, whether its celebrating birthdays or for datenights. When we arrived tonight though, we immediately noticed how empty it was, which was quite unusual. I am vegetarian, usually I just have a bowl of the cheesy chips without maple bacon as the vegetarian menu range is quite limited, today however I decided to treat myself to a vegan burger despite its steep price point. I feel I am owed £20 for eating that burger, instead I payed the aforementioned £20 to eat half a very dodgy looking vegan burger. Immediately I felt sick after taking my first bite, but perseved as I was incredibly hungry by the time our food arrived. I only finished half the burger when I was overtaken with a wave of nausea and had to rush to the bathroom to throw up. (stalls were filthy or closed, the only semi clean one had no loo paper) Staff were all extremely lovely, my partner returned his chips as they came with chilli sauce that was not indicated on the menu, our waiter was apologetic and returned quickly with his replacement. Overall, we are both very disappointed with our visit and this experience has soured our opinion of what was once one of our favourite places to go to.

We went there for my daughter’s 18th birthday and have to say Peter and Ud were amazing and really treated her extra special and she finished her birthday on a high. Thank you both so much!!!!

My wife and I went for lunch and left quite disappointed. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant which meant she had to do service food and drink. I asked for a milkshake and it ended up coming with the food. The food was ok not amazing but standard, I just felt like for £70 give or take, it was nowhere near worth it and was inflated pricing for a substandard experience. I used to love TGI but after today I’ve lost faith.

It's a tradition on my daughter's 8th birthday to go to TGI's, we have recently moved and this was our first visit to Chelmsford branch. Possibly the best TGI venue we've been to, the staff were fantastic, the manager was very attentive given we were a large party to ensure it moved smoothly! The food was fantastic, being a large party sometimes it can be easy for all the food to come out separately and not correct but these guys handled it with ease. The staff, the food and the atmosphere was fantastic, thank you for making our little girls day perfect.

Wing it on Wednesdays! Don't bother!!!!! 90 mins of unlimited wings between 4-6 per person that wasn't the problem it was the waiting time after you finished. We waited 20mins twice to have a fresh lot then 30mins in between it was shocking!!! Paid for bottomless refill that was the same waiting time. Doesn't take long to eat a few chicken wings!!! It wasn't even that busy very disappointed with our experience. Also some of the boneless wings where cold in the middle!!! We was offered extra time but still had to wait gave up in the end.

I recently visited the Chelmsford branch early eve Sat 24th Aug 2024, which also happened to be Aug bank holiday weekend, I have to say, the experience was nothing short of disappointing. Firstly the cocktails, which were advertised as a 2-for-1 deal, are a complete rip-off. Not only were they ridiculously overpriced no way would one single cocktail be charged at £16 each, therefore price is overinflated in order to make profit, but the quality was abysmal. The first strawberry daiquiri basically had no taste, and certainly zero alcohol, and the pina colada is advertised as a frozen cocktail but when it arrived simply just plain liquid, again just a mix of basic pineapple juice and small coconut milk, again, no alcohol of which to taste, calling it a "deal" is a joke and to then charge a premium rate given the lack of alcohol and decent ingredients or care to make them is utter crime. I had visited other TGI branches few years back and found the cocktails very good, either this branch is just poor or the company is cutting costs to inflate profits. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the majority of food on both our dishes was barely lukewarm when it arrived, except for the fries which where obviously freshly cooked, and they where enjoyable at least, the main parts of the meals where clearly questionable as to just being reheated based on their temperature, and the portion sizes were mediocre at best considering the price. The service was just as disappointing as the food and drinks. Baring in mind the restaurant wasn’t even half full, staff seemed disinterested and barely provided the bare minimum in terms of attention. It was as if they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence, also laughable considering place is as near empty so was no excuse for that! Overall, this was a terrible dining experience, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else.

They barely put any alcohol into our alcoholic drinks. It’s easy to save money on £5 cocktails like this. There wasn’t any atmosphere to talk about. It was nice still and the staff was very nice and helpful.

Very erogent staff worst customer service

A disappointing experience here - wasn’t busy so would hope for better service. One of our meals was wrong so had to be sent back. Had to call a server to get more drinks after waiting for someone to check up on us. Generally felt unwelcome and in the way.

This is arguably the worst service I have had. While I was inside there was about 3 other tables so it was not busy at all. It has took me 35 minutes for 3 cokes and waters to come. The only notable thing about this meal was the Food, but barely. As the service was terrible they had left our food on the side for 10 minutes before bringing it to our table. This then led to a room temperature meal with a mediocre taste. I do not recommend this for anyone looking to enjoy there night. Instead go to one of the better restaurants near by. The best thing about this restaurant that I would recommend is that there is definitely a going to be a spare table. But it still took 5 minutes to be seated by the none attentive staff. Not only are they not attentive, I had to remind them to bring our drinks to our table. My honest reaction in one word is, Disappointed. When you have a meal here you will be able to understand why I am disappointed. I highly recommend to ‘STAY AWAY’ from this restaurant.

Mediocre food and poor service. Don’t waste your time or money coming here.

Let’s start off with the service.Terrible. The waitress was awfully lazy and lethargic.I personally watched my food ( A Chicken burger) sitting on a plate wasting away and getting cold.The food you may ask? Mid. I waited 25 minutes to get a bottle of water!! I also ordered a Oreo milk shake it was half milkshake and half cream….. overall DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!

My daughter chose to come here to celebrate her 12th birthday as TGIs is usually great for things like this. We wish we hadn’t bothered and left the restaurant more than disappointed. We were a large table and happy to spend lots of money to make her birthday enjoyable and let everyone have fun. However the service was terrible, we barely saw a member of staff. Let alone someone who was happy/friendly/helpful. The food options weren’t great as they didn't have hardly anything we wanted to order. When the food did arrive it was cold, had no flavour, presented badly and they had missed a meal off of our order- and typically it was for my daughter (the birthday girl!) so she had to wait for them to cook hers whilst we all sat with ours in front of us. The table wasn’t set up right, no cutlery, dirty glasses, we had 8 children and no one was offered a kids colouring pack and there was absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. We have been at TGIs for previous birthdays in other areas and they have always made birthdays a big deal, a balloon hat at the very least but we got nothing. Not even an acknowledgment that we were a big birthday group. The toilets were flooded and floor filthy. I am a FOH waitress for another restaurant and the experience all round was rather embarrassing. I hate to leave a bad review but I was so gutted when we left after spending almost £250 that I need to air my thoughts. Wish we hadn’t invited everyone there, won’t be recommending or returning to the Chelmsford branch again. Sad times!

Recommend the ribs if you’re trying this place for the first time. Really great service as well

Waited 20 minutes for drinks to arrive which they never did and we got sick of waiting. They didn’t have the food we asked for and the food we got substituted for was not enjoyable at all.

Visited on 9th April this year. It wasn't busy as we had just left work, but food, service and the cocktails were all great. Best Long Islands I have had this side of the Atlantic

Don’t bother..! I never had to leave a restaurant after sitting for one hour. The drinks took 45 minutes to be served and food never came. I had to ask for a glass for my bottle beer and end up fetching it myself. Avoid, the places is runned by kids that rather prefer chatting than looking after customers.

Went for a evening meal on Sunday. Waited at the door for a member of staff 'who was coming back to get us shortly' for 10 minutes. The place was empty. Dry and cold food, no atmosphere, overpriced, just a really poor experience. I don't usually begrudge spending money on a meal, but paying this bill bothered me. Used to really love TGIs but they seem to be spiralling fast.

Another 1 star for TGI Friday Chelmsford to join the others! Not sure where to start. This is Cajun chicken pasta with penne pasta. It was more macaroni and cheese with chicken on top with some garnish. This was served not even luke warm. A starter garnished with a hair. We’d already moved tables before all this started. Safe to say won’t be coming here again!

shocking experience. was seated by waitress, waited over half an hour with no service and had to go find someone. when I managed to find someone (two members of the team standing around chatting) they told me to order at the bar. I explained that I was waiting for table service but he insisted I order at the bar (never had to do this before and I frequently visit). took forever to take my order and get served drinks. when at the bar I found the original waitress who was stood in the same spot all night on her phone/ watching the tv. never heard from her again that evening. food eventually arrived well over an hour in to our visit and the food was dry as if it had been sat under the lamp for too long. shocking experience and won’t come back after being a frequent visited.

Would like to give a big shout out to Jess, who served my friend and I today :) Jess was absolutely lovely and very welcoming. The food and drinks were great too. Thanks so much Jess, really was a pleasure coming in today 😀

Love TGI food, but the Chelmsford branch’s service is absolutely shocking. Staff just stood around doing nothing, waiting about an hour for food or just service in general, whilst the place was basically empty. Such bad customer service. Braintree is much better service.

Awful. Says a lot that TGI Fridays can’t even get it right on a Friday. The food was bland, not hot and expensive for what it was. The food in a Wetherspoons is twice the quality. Went in at 18:00pm last Friday and wasn’t brought drinks for over an hour. It was not busy. The staff were inattentive and incompetent. It’s like it was everyone’s first shift.

Surprisingly quiet here on a Saturday night, pleasantly so. After having such a bad entry into TGI Fridays, this actually redeemed the entire franchise for me.

The food is fine, typical TGI’s food… but the problem is the service… expect to wait around 20mins to even be asked for a drink.. let alone seeing it sit on the bar and have to go get it yourself! Basically don’t bother coming here…

My recent visit to TGI Fridays Chelmsford was quite disappointing. The service was poor from start to finish. We experienced long waits despite the restaurant being fairly empty, and our server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. Orders arrived late and incorrectly, with food often cold or not as described. Even getting our bill was a hassle, filled with errors. This visit did not meet the enjoyable dining experience TGI Fridays usually promises.

Terrible service. Food was bland and cheap. Main meals and kids desserts took over an hour and a half, we went 5.45pm and the place was quiet. Poor management, awful experience.

The toilets were filthy,the worst I've ever seen in a restaurant!

Food - disgusting, steak full of fat and wasn’t medium rare and was dry. Waited 2 hours for our food clearly chasing the cows for our steak. Dirty forks, burger took 2 hours to cook. Service - disgusting only had one staff member running around to do the drinks and serve food etc Atmosphere - bad it was unhygienic the tables was full of food food that had been left there for 2 hours whilst we was waiting for ours.

Absolutely shocking visit! Walked in the door to no front server had to walk to the back of the restaurant to find a server to be seated, we got seated and the server came up and asked if we was ready to order drinks after having only just removed jackets, to which we said we wasn't ready due to not looking at the menu yet, for our server to then dissappear and not be seen for the rest of the night to which we was served by the manager about ten minutes later, we finally received our food and drinks basically at the same time, in which the food was okay apart from the burger which was pink in the middle. Once we finished eating we waited 20 minutes before the server finally came back to our table since the beginning of us sitting downtown which we complained and the server got a manager to which she explained to us, that apparently they was a server down and she was working the kitchen. Would highly recommend not going again and very disappointed in the lack of service

Catalogue of errors. Food awful, but because of this they gave us 1 free main, 1 free side and 2 free deserts, but won't be going back, not enjoyable.

Would not recommend the bottomless brunch here. Me and my friend went yesterday for the bottomless brunch, we had a total of 2 drinks for the 2 hours we were there and was then left for an hour after the 2 hours had finished. The restaurant wasn’t busy at the time we visited either. Wasn’t a great experience will never come back for the bottomless brunch again, waste of money and time.

Stood at the entrance for a good 10 minutes before some kid came and sat me down before disappearing and never got served after that. Saw all the families with many kids get served while we kept waiting. Ended up leaving without ordering anything. Awful atmosphere, awful staff and won’t be going there again

Me and my family got there, waited ages to be served (even mistaked one of the customers for a waiter), until we just decided to sit ourselves down. It was a very empty place, but still couldn't be served or had clean tables. We ordered simple drinks like water which took ages, then we waited even more for our food. And the food, was genuinly awful, as well as the value for it. I make better burgers. This should not be the case for a multi-billion dollar company. £88 pounds for food that was genuinly awful, terrible experience. No wonder it was so empty.

Honestly I've loved TGIs for years but this has been the worst experience I've ever had, no one at thw entrance, our waitress didn't turn up for about 15 minutes to take our order, the amount of guests I have watched go up to servers because they aren't being served, to top it all off our food arrived with no culturally so we had to go ask for it which is ridiculous

We had a very bad experience when we popped in late afternoon, mimnal service starter arrived cold and late we waited a generous hour before leaving without our table being notice or mains served, very disappointing for quite a large and established franchise

Really awful place, very very slow service, our main courses arrived at different times, plates not cleared and then they served our desserts with our table full of dirty plates! Very expensive, we actually felt robbed paying so much. Obviously no one cares about that place and it is a shame on the TGI’s name.

Not a good experience. There was no greeter at the entrance so we had to hunt around for someone. The cutlery was dirty, it is patently obvious that the dishwasher is in need of a damn good clean. We are not talking just water marks but dried on food in some instances. Getting someone's attention to sort it was clearly going to be difficult as they clearly didn't have enough staff on so I grabbed some from the neighbouring unoccupied table and managed to find enough that were just about acceptable. My son and I ordered 2 for 1 cocktails, mojitos and long island iced teas. They had no straws, this made it impossible for my son to drink the mojitos without scooping out a significant amount of crushed ice from the top of the glass. One of the mojito glasses was also cracked and very obviously so when the glass was empty. The long island iced teas had not been mixed, it came as a layered drink. The clue is in the name, it is supposed to look like iced tea. Long island iced tea is normally a pretty potent cocktail, but after two in a fairly short period of time, I felt like I would actually have been ok to drive. So I'm pretty sure they didn't contain full measures of spirits, they probably have some caveat about that in small print somewhere. We asked for water for the table, it never arrived. My wife ordered steak and asked for it to be done medium, even with a bit of poetic licence, and accepting that what constitutes medium is a subjective opinion, you would have to describe it as well done. I would have given a 1 star rating but for the fact that my son said his burger was quite nice and the ribs that I ordered were good.

excellent experience, full of fun and good food and drink

Went today (Tuesday) at 12:00 for a meal. When we arrived the place seemed to be deserted, the doors were open but no one was around. However we ventured indoors and the waitress appeared, she was very apologetic and explained she was the only one there. There were 2 other people eating apart from that it was empty, hence the low "atmosphere" score, I'm sure it's great in the evening/weekend. The place feels fresh and I loved the little design touches such as the wall of speakers. Looks much nicer than other Essex branches, Basildon for example. Our drinks were delivered promptly and the food came out so quickly, the kitchen must have been raring to go! We both had the sesame chicken strips. It was so tasty and the fries were crunchy and perfectly cooked. I will be back one evening to experience a better atmosphere. All in all i was very pleasantly surprised from TGI Fridays Chelmsford.

Food came an hour late and freezing cold, soggy nachos, cold steak, and a dirty fork, it was completely dead and now I understand why no. Atmosphere whatsoever, the service was slow and we had to wait 20 mins for a waiter to walk past for the bill which was overpriced 6£ for a Corona and 4£ something for a can of Dr pepper

This was an awful experience, we hadn’t tried the food but in all honesty we didn’t want to stay to. 2 friends of mine ordered shots of vodka to which they drank half of before realising it was water. Each of the 7 of us smelt it and confirmed there was none of the characteristic vodka smell, we took this up to the bar and spoke to the bar staff and manager, the manager began saying that there was no way they would do that refusing to smell it claiming she has “lost her sense of smell” we went round in circles for no less that 10-20 minutes where she said “if you roll your eyes at me you get nothing”, we eventually asked her to pour out a new shot from the “same bottle” to which we all smelt and was in fact vodka, so we don’t know what happened between pouring the vodka to it reaching the bar but someone must’ve clearly slipped some water in on the way there by her logic. She had also said she couldn’t get a member of staff to try the “vodka” (for obvious reasons) but at the end said she would get one of the staff to try it to see, she eventually agreed to give half a shot of vodka as a replacement with no refund for the “vodka” water, and here I was thinking tap water was free.

I visited once last year and it was a lovely place with excellent service that I still remember the waitress name till now. I went again last Sunday night and looked forward to have a good dinner. However, I will not go again after this visit! When I arrived, I wait for around four minutes for the reception staff, I expect it should be a front house staff all the time to welcome guests of such a big restaurant. After being seated, at the time we want to order drinks and appetisers, we look around for staffs, and only one waitress was serving the area, there was four tables (four people of two tables and two people of two table) of guests including us. She nearly missing us for ordering till we called her. Finally, we waited for nearly 20 minutes to order drinks and appetisers. It took more than 20 minutes to have the drinks served. The Hot Wings came afterwards and then we ordered our main course. Again, the main took around another 20 minutes but I think it was fine for the main course. There was an accident that a waitress was serving another table with a dish fall down and a small dish of sauce spilled on my partner trousers. For sure the waitress has apologised and gave us tissue paper to clean up (I need to asked for wet cloth instead they initiated to provide). They definitely need more training of serving guests. Last but not the least, a waitress came and asked for our comment and we told her our thoughts about the extremely slow service, after her response, she collected our plates without asking us and indeed we were not yet finished. I was surprised and didn’t reacted at once. Then she cleaned my table and gave me the bill. We still have drinks on the table and she left three bones on my table when gave me the bill. I took a picture of it, it looks funny when I see it again. I even can’t say it is a “service”. About the food, the appetiser Hot Wing is too salty, and we have two mains, the sirloin and the rib, The sirloin texture is like microwaved food even it is medium cooked. The rib is good but the house salad was served without dressing that is not being expected. I need to mix it with the mayonnaise on the table to serve myself.

Menu has higher prices like most restaurants these days but food quality is low and poor at best! The place was quiet yet there were tables not cleared, obvious lack of staff training. The only plus was we sat outside in the sunshine. Come on TGi's I remember Liceister Square back in the 90's, couldn't beat a Thursday day night there! Chelmsford has absolutely nothing on that! ☹️

We had a lunch date it was excellent. The food came out quickly, pipping hot. The manager Kelly was everywhere seemingly all at once. Her service was personable, effcient and she made time for everyone that she served, very attentive.

Unfortunately this was not what I expected, The restaurant was very quiet with only about 4 other tables in use, despite this no one came over to seat us so I had to go and find someone. Once seated I was told that someone would be with me in a minute, nearly 30 minutes later someone came over to take our order, I then waited another 25 minutes before having to ask where our drinks were as the table who came in after us already had there's. Our drinks then came out with our food. Some of the food was not very hot and some of the food was, we did receive our food in dribs and drabs so that's probably why. The food was ok but very bland so i was slightly disappointed as I have been to tgi Friday (Braintree ) before and the food was very tasty. I then paid for the bill at the end and at first I did not realise that they had not taken the kids food off the bill as kids eat free with a code apparently, so lucky I checked. I asked them to refund me the money for them which they didn't want to do , so I asked to speak to the manager who had no problem in doing so, she was actually very nice and the waiters who was not our waiter was very on the ball aswel don't think we would have got our drinks otherwise. Unfortunately I do not think I will be returning here.

Got to be the worst quality food I’ve ever been served ! Waited at the entrance to be served, waited 5 mins then walked to the rear of the restaurant to find a waitress to ask for a table! After being served waited 40 mins for half the starter platter to turn up of which the potato skins were pathetic and about the size of my thumb ! The waitress then explained that the kitchen had cocked up the tickets and the mains were ready too and did we want them. I agreed as they would be cold otherwise ! The waitress agreed the potato skins were poor, took them away and said she’d remove them from the bill. Then our mains turned up !! Mine was luke warm and the corn on the cob was still fridge cold ! My daughters was also luke warm and they’d gave her the wrong burger 🤦🏼‍♂️!! By now I’d had enough and was boiling up ! I was polite to the waitress and told her I wasn’t happy with the food quality, she totally agreed, apolagised and got her manager to remove them from our bill. I can honestly say it’s got to be the worst quality food and service from their kitchen and front of house staff I’ve ever had !! Never again !! It’s such a shame as it used to be a lovely place.

food was horrific. do not get the hotdog as it came out as hard as a rock. asked for regular full fat coke and got a zero for both of us at the restaurant. chips were over-salted and server was side-eyeing us and seemed unenthusiastic.

Booked for a Birthday celebration. Left at table for 25 mins by our server Eventually had to go to main desk to ask to be served Food selection poor. Out of stock on several kids menu choices which made it impossible for happy kids.... Ordered mains for adults plus a couple of starters As requested all food arrived st the same time with an unordered kids meal which was sent back and minus one side dish which has been forgotten and again asked to be cancelled. Asked.for glasses of water which never turned up. On receiving the bill the extra kids menu plus the cancelled.side were on the bill Attention to detail , service and combined with oh we don't have any straws for the kids drinks , both male and female toilets out of order made for a "wonderful"..... birthday. We're we there for a normal dinner out would have left.immediately. Do not and cannot recommend this establishment at all. Avoid it if you want an enjoyable meal

I visited Saturday with my daughter and grandkids . Very little staff all very young and lacked anyone that knew what they were doing . 1st the ladies toliets was out of order , the disabled one had no paper and had to tell a member of staff . 2nd ordered food and it all came at once starters with mains and no cutlery just dumped on our table and went . When I complained I was rudely told well you didn't ask , my reply was well starter's uselly come before mains as never had this problem in other branches. My daughters ribs was stone cold by the time we ate our mains and they had to redo it . 3rd my starter prawns was tateless and like warm . 4th kids meals had no veg sticks , when I asked they brought 2 bowls with 1 stick of carrot , apple and cucumber. I won't return , I know why with such a big restaurant on a busy Saturday it was empty . TGI you used to be known for the place to eat with kids , balloon hats , great atmosphere what has happened . We won't be back

Went to this particular TGI Fridays. I ordered the glazed burger, the missus ordered sesame strips. Now don't get me wrong I love a good bit of TGI food however on this occasion my burger was a good 10 minutes before the fiance's was even cooked and left under the hot light before hers was done. After being cooked hers was under it for 4 minutes. When it got to our table after 14 minutes of intensive TGI hot light cooking techniques the burger was a bit dry as you can imagine and not even hot warm is pushing it but still I'm not one for moaning and thats not what made me write the review. After we had finished are just about warm meal we sat there for for 25 mins for the plates to be cleaned then we got another drink we got that rapidly. We were not asked if we wanted deserts or if we wanted the bill. Roll on 45mins later we are still waiting for your bill we get up with out coats on and go to walk to the bar so we could find someone to pay when we where approached by a waiter asking if we wanted a table for 2 bare in mind that there's only 3 tables seated at this point. So we explained we wanted to bill and get that resolved but man 2 hours for cold ISH food and a a fight to pay is crazy And due to it taking so long we missed out on the evening activity we had planned afterwards

Requested no chilli, had a ridiclous amount of chilli on my food. Then a week later - tried to call the restaurant 6 times on 2 different phones - they hung up every time before even answering.

We were served by the woman with the dragon tattoo on her neck, I believe her name was Honey. She was so helpful and provided such a lovely service to my family and I. Food was nice and the atmosphere was relaxing. I loved the orange juice!

The food was very good and the staff were lovely, making a big effort for my grandson's birthday. Only downside was the ladies toilet was not working so I had to use the accessible toilet which was not very clean, the floor had not been cleaned for some time.

All i can say is wow. My favourite resturant. Also shoutout to the young lady with a long black plait. She must be new because i am a regular. She was great and really looked after us thank you once again from a loyal customer!!!
