5 of us visited the Deli for coffees/cold drinks & cakes. The staff were not helpful at all. We said we were eating in and got paper cups. We had 3 canned/bottled drinks and asked for straws for them and were reluctantly given 2. We waited for the cakes we had paid for and nothing appeared! I asked for the cakes and was told quite abruptly they would be brought out to us. They were put down on our table in greaseproof paper without a word. I could see all other people with cups & saucers and glasses for their cold drinks. The cakes & drinks were fine but shocking service! It’s not hard to be customer friendly and show good manners!!

DELI KIOSK BY THE PARK First time getting a coffee since the change in company and very disappointed. I ordered 2 cappuccinos and waited around 10 minutes for a young girl to make it from the machine bearing in mind there was no queue. The coffee was red hot and was like a cup of hot watered-down milk why not just get a coffee machine that they just press the button on instead of buying a fancy coffee machine and employing kids that clearly can't make coffee or havnt been trained....I'll be grabbing a Costa on the way next time.

We have been to the Deli at Hylands House a few times recently. On each occasion we have found the staff to be excellent , friendly and helpful. We have also eaten a few different things on the menu and on each occasion we have enjoyed it all. The sandwiches are always thickly filled, as are the toasted panini. The cakes are lovely and fresh and they have great selection of drinks and tasty coffee. We find the atmosphere very relaxing and when we leave we feel relaxed and that we have eaten well.

I first visited the deli when it first opened and the service was awful so decided to try again with my friend. I wish I had taken a photo of the awful salad we were served £9.50 for goats cheese and butternut squash salad there was hardly anything of either just loads of leaves that were turning brown and a few pomegranate seeds. The lady who served us was ok but a very miserable and looked like she hated working there. Will not be returning very poor.

How ridiculous, queued for 15 minutes to get a coffee to be told that they are closing in 5 minutes so cannot serve us!!! No signage saying what time they are open and closed so how was i supposed to know! Was so willing to support a local business instead of bringing my own coffee but the service received today was horrendous and i am so so so disappointed. If i had known that i wasn’t going to be served I wouldn’t have wasted 15 minutes standing in a queue with 3 young children. Not to mention that Google says they close at 4pm and I started queuing at 2.40 (closing at 3 apparently!!!)

Started great, down hill fast. written from not wishing to put the business out of business, but needs to pay attention to some basics. We frequent the deli within the grounds regularly. Please tidy up after the previous day / night, takes 5 mins to sweep the area down, lots of napkins etc on floor. I don't wish to sit at a table with a wet door mat draped over the chair. Some staff, seem willing but maybe over worked possibly, don't seem bothered. Example, when giving a tip, its nice to receive a thank you. Have had, on a number of occasions to open side door (in dog area) to shout through and get staffs attention. it took at least 5 mins last week, before someone was available. Witnessed some one complaining, that they had waited 30 mins + for a sausage sandwich. Had on a number of occasions to request food to be cooked again, to how we requested it. Not withstanding all of the above we enjoy the spot greatly, you just need to pay attention to the small stuff, because its ruining your business. Come on business staff / owner, step up ! These are small things, but they matter! Look forward to seeing the improvements.

We stopped going here as there was always such a long wait and the prices were quite high. But it seems to have changed hands and much for the better. Good selection of food and drink at very reasonable prices. A generously filled ham sandwich, crisps and a pot of red cabbage slaw all for £6…..we will def return.

Lovely cafe. The food and service was excellent. Unfortunately it was very cold and we had to keep our coats on. Would need to consider this before returning which is a shame as it’s a lovely place for a walk and a spot of lunch.

We had the most delicious lunch today at The Deli at Hylands. It is the first time we’ve visited since The Deli took over and it was amazing. The menu had something for everyone and we were surprised at how reasonable our food was considering the quality. Our children had so many options to choose from too- all of which were also enjoyed. We will definitely be back. X

We were staying in the hotel and this was the night of the Queen's funeral so we decided to 'eat in'. They only had one chef in the kitchen so it took a long time for our meals to appear. They did warn us when we sat down but it would have been nice to be told when we booked the table when we checked in. Food was nothing special but nothing to complain about either.

In area looking at antiques, decided to stop here for light lunch. Dissapointed to find that a Tea Room served our hot drinks in takeout cups and sandwiches on paper plates with plastic knives & forks. The menu sandwich choice read Thick hand cut Wiltshire ham, the sandwich turned up with one slice of thin cut ham. Sausage roll was cooked in microwave so pastry was soggy and a toasted tuna sandwich was not edible. Awful lunch! Addressed our complaint to the staff, was refunded back the Tuna sandwich. Doubtful we will rush back.

Chelmsford the place to eat. Arrived today to see 4 partners chatting behind the counter . I asked one of them I could have x2 pieces of cake from underneath the glass cover, only to be told “it’s self service”. I appreciate that but I am 78 years of age with a health condition and am unable to lift heavy items. I was eventually assisted. There was no breakfast tea on the counter so I was sent to another counter where there was also none to be had. Reluctantly a member of staff found one for me. Not really the best customer experience, unlike the partner in the Christmas department who went over and above to help escorting me to another department to assist me. Come on John Lewis you need to do better.
