Been here several times before with the family and has always been good but we went there today and the standard of food has deteriorated to the point that I really don’t want to go back. Very disappointing especially as it so much more expensive now.

Wonderful Lunch today at the Hawk. Was served by Cathy she was both friendly and attended and very knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely recommend a visit

Warm welcome and friendly helpful service. We chose to eat in the bar today. Good ambience, not too busy or noisy. Varied menu and wine was good Food was delicious and well presented Beautifully cooked Ray with capers/ Sea bass Deserts tasteful, piquant Continuous attentive friendly service Chef for the day was Adam, he needs to be congratulated. Often the food is over processed with too much highly flavoured sauce, but today was perfect. The skate was juicy and tender Front of house lead was just lovely! All staff happy to help

This restaurant is really excellent, the experience we had was outstanding from the minute you walk in you are greeted with a very friendly welcome to great fast and efficient service. The food is always hot and the waitress Millie couldn't do enough to make it even more wonderful for us with such attention to detail.

Our party of four experienced a great time at The Hawk. Very pleasant atmosphere and surroundings. Our friends dine there regularly whereas we don't and they spoke very highly of it. My friend who always orders it, recommended the sea bass - delicious! It was one of the best, if not the best sea bass dish I have ever had! The cod and chips looked amazing and our friend confirmed it was. My husband's steak was just as he likes it and he loved the chips (this is a first for him!). The staff from our entrance to departure were all lovely. Carlie took our orders and attended to us so well. Checking we had all we needed and things one of us didn't need (allergy)! She was absolutely lovely towards us, friendly, smiley and relaxed. Carlie definitely helped give us a good impression and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you Carlie! I have taken the time to review this because however nice the venue is aesthetically it is the people who cook, clean, manage and work the face to face customer service who make the place worthwhile and worthy of acknowledgment. On this experience I recommend The Hawk as a great place to book!

Visited again and still blown away by the food choice, quality and friendliness of all the staff, and was very busy even though the weather was shocking all day

My family had a great time at The Hawk. Senita was very pleasant and helpful and went out of her way to help. Portion sizes were outstanding, especially the kids roasts. One of the nicest meals we’ve had. We’ll definitely be back!!

We went for lunch for the first time here with a group of friends. I hadn't realised how large the place was but was pleasantly surprised by the ample car parking space and the interior layout. My Squid starter was tasty and the service was pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately, while the chips were very good, the cod was awful. It had a greyish appearance, was quite thin, and was cooked to a degree of dryness that it resembled cardboard. The batter was tasty and could not be criticised for a lack of crispness. There were times when I wondered if the knife would ever penetrate it. My partner also had the squid starter, which she enjoyed, and the tempura king prawn sandwich which contained four prawns. I subsequently learned that a friend, who had also had the cod and chips, complained about the fish at the till and was given a discount. It's always difficult when you're in company and presented with a poor meal. I don't like to undermine the enjoyment of the occasion by making a complaint but, clearly, the quality of the cod needs to be improved.

I booked a table online for 6.30 on a Tuesday 16/4/24 we were showing to our table and drink order was taken straight away. Not long after our waitress ELIZA came along with a menu and we ordered our starters. We asked if we could have a break in between our main course, and starters, rather than have them straight away. The waitress was friendly obliging and helpful a lovely young lady of food was delicious and the few changes that we made to the original menu were no problem. The cocktails on a weeknight Monday to Thursday were two for £14, which were lovely all in all a pleasant evening where for a change I didn’t feel rushed It was a lovely evening, made even better by our lovely waitress ELIZA.

Had an enjoyable lunch today served by a delightful waitress, Sharmaine. Such a bubbly and friendly lady who made us feel so welcome. Food was great too. Great that the Hawk has a lunchtime set menu.

Our extended family met up for my grandson's 22nd birthday at The Hawk for lunch after a great visit to RHS Hyde Hall Gardens, a few minutes away by car. There were 8 of us across 4 generations, including a small child in a high chair. (Extremely well behaved!) The establishment was very busy, (it was a sunny Saturday lunchtime) hardly a space in the car park, and the outside tables were full with leisurely drinkers. So we anticipated delayed service and maybe a fraught atmosphere. Wrong. We had booked a restaurant table, which had been beautifully set up, and the atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful. Our server, Sharmaine, was attentive, welcoming, friendly and efficient. We ordered a variety of mains - lamb rump, fish, burgers and linguine - all of which were very well cooked and presented - very tasty. We also had a range of desserts and coffees etc to finish. This place looked to be well staffed and well organised - we didn't have to wait for any longer than normal period. If the staff can make you feel that you matter, and the food is presented this well at the busiest of times it's done really well. Thanks. Definitely to be recommended and we will be back.

Meal was great and service was lovely and friendly. Especially recommend the cocktails! I had the best espresso martini I've had in years made by lovely bartender Jude, defo coming back soon! 😊

3 of us came for an impromptu spot of lunch and lucky for us food was great and service from Cathy was sublime, will be back!

1st time visit to The Hawk for Sunday lunch. what struck me straight away was how busy the place is. full to capacity, always a good sign. Quickly shown to our table, drinks ordered then Senitta, our server for the day took our food orders. Starters of Crab on sourdough and sticky chicken, mains of crispy duck noodle salad and the trio of roasts. The food was delicious, the roast was plentiful and good old fashioned home cooking and the duck salad full of vibrant colour and fresh taste.Dessert was the lemon tart and vanilla poached pear. The pear, if i were picky would be the only disappointment, pretty bland. The real star of the show was Senitta, a real asset to The Hawk. As a couple we've dined at some pretty exotic restaurants with prices to match. I can whole heartily say our experience at The Hawk on Sunday blew a lot of our previous dining experiences out of the water. Really was a fantastic lunch. we will certainly return.

Booked a table for 2 on sunday 13 june for 19 00 to celebrate are 3 anniversary was looking forward to a nice meal only to be told no fish meals were available. Very disappointed

Wow! One of our first post-COVID family celebrations. Great menu, great venue and great service! Pre-booked for our daughters 25th birthday and we were not disappointed- we shall definitely return! The photos taken do not do it justice, but the food was delicious!

Fantastic service our waitress was friendly and efficient, food was superb, very Covid safe, as a first outing with my parents in over a year we couldn’t of picked a better place. This pub/restaurant is in a great location, plenty of outside tables, lots of parking. Just a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.

Just had my first meal here and the food was wonderful. Our waitress Lauren was brilliant and wonderful through out and is a credit to the place. Very friendly Will deffo come back here again.

After such a longtime we had our first meal out yesterday We had booked a meal for last year for our 25th anniversary but that got changed. Fantastic to see the same staff, and excellent food as normal

What a place! Gorgeous venue that delivered beyond expectations. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. My friend and I had a duck salad which was incredible!! And the homemade crumble which we both had for dessert was the perfect way to end our meals. 5* experience, will definitely go back.

Poor service, disappointing food, cold when should have been hot, tasteless crab and prawn fishcakes, reheated fries, wrong size drinks. Forgotten items from dishes. Normally very good but this was very poor. £20 service charge when no tip would have been left

Thank you for a great meal. I went in with my two children and husband and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Portion size generous, roast potatoes and Yorkies en pointe. Megan served us and was great, all staff friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back

I loved this pub 9 years ago and i was excited to go on a lunch date now things are opening again. We sat outside, and the service and food did not fail to impress. Both my prtner and i left absolutely blown away with how great the food was. The other half had the melting bomb and for hours after commented on how lovely it was.Staff were friendly and approachable. They have managed the reopening fantastically.I cant believe i left it 9 years to get back to you... I missed out.

First time I've been to the hawk and it was lovely. the service was excellent the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We asked for a table outside as we didn't feel comfortable eating inside at the moment and we were given a lovely table next to a pond. We will definitely be returning.

Had a fab time at the hawk the service was fantastic and food was amazing ! I can recommend both the smoked salmon starter and the pork belly main make sure you have the scallops with it ! What a lovely restaurant you have at the hawk, me and my family came for dinner for the first time and I can honestly say why haven’t we been before, we felt so safe, the service was brilliant from start to finish, the food was incredible so many lovely choices to choose from, we are looking forward to booking again and coming back to visit this beautiful restaurant thank you

Visited the hawk on Wednesday evening for a meal with my wife, the food was amazing both had the dirty burger, definitely the best burgers we have ever had, the service was great from our waitress Cathy which made the whole experience more enjoyable, we definitely be coming back for a meal again thank you very much

I went to dinner on Sunday for a roast with my husband and eldest son. The first issue we had was when ordering drinks my 22 year old son was asked for ID which he did not have with him as we have never been asked for ID like this when going out to eat at a restaurant as a family, we tried to dispute this as he was obviously over 18 and even had a picture of his passport on his phone, however the first manager we spoke to was very rude and did not accept this, he kept stating that they have a policy of asking everyone under 25 for ID but this policy was nowhere on their website and we were not told this when booking, the manager was very rude and seemed very inexperienced when dealing with us (he avoided us for the rest of the evening and never apologised). The second issue we had was how long it took for our food to come, it took over an hour for our starters to arrive and even then they got one of our orders wrong so we had to wait even longer for this. We then asked for our mains to be brought out as soon as possible as we had already been waiting a very long time but this took just as long and they clearly were in no rush to help us. We did speak to another manager after our meal who was very understanding however the damage had already been done and our meal was ruined. Service is half of the experience when going out to eat but it is clear that The Hawk don't care about this so we were very disappointed with our meal. I do not blame the floor staff for this as they were trying their best and only following orders, it was the first manager who we spoke to who ruined our experience and was the one who got our order wrong.

Upon arriving, the front of house staff member was fairly abrupt when asking us to scan the Covid QR code. We were then seated away from the main restaurant at the bar (assumingly so they can cram in as many people as possible).There was no cutlery or condiments on the table, and we were given 3 menus in a party of 4 and no drinks menus - so we had to ask for these. We placed our drinks order, which came fine (although when checking the bill we were shocked to find a glass of pepsi was £2.90). When ordering food, one member of the party asked for the roast chicken, which we were then told it had sold out?! on a Sunday?! Ideally, guests should be told what is not on the menu when being seated to avoid the last-second rush to pick an alternative. 2 of our party ordered a starter (the Brie) and was shocked to find that for £6.75 each, the dish arrives with x3 tiny fried rectangles of brie, on a cold plate and a teaspoon of chutney. We weren't too bothered to start, so ate it anyway. In hindsight, we should have sent them back. We then waited 40 minutes for our mains to arrive, the x2 beef roasts arrived to the table cold so were sent back. We had to ask for Yorkshire puddings, which arrived on a cold plate. And the party member who substituted a chicken roast for the seabass was disappointed when it arrived served with a few boiled new potatoes, and some bland roasted red pepper, no garnish or dressing - for £17 this is unacceptable. The overall presentation off all the dishes were very 'sad'. The roasts included a few roast potatoes sitting on a bed of greens, one mouthful of parsnip and a couple of small carrots, smothered in gravy (you'll need to ask for it on the side if you prefer to pour your own!)We were still not offered any condiments and decided to eat the dinner to save the risk of it turning cold very quickly.We decided against a desert as we did not want to wait even longer and despite two dishes turning up cold, we were presented with our bill at full charge. We paid it begrudgingly just to get out of the restaurant. The overall experience was very disappointing and put a dampener on the first evening out in over a year as a group. I would urge management to review the staffing levels, seating capacity and quality control in the kitchen immediately. As clearly we were not the only disappointed guests in the restaurant, as we saw 2 other tables send plates back to the kitchen.

First visit back since the lockdown lifting. Perfect as always. The roast beef was unbelievable and the brownie :) The service from Sarah and the team was Better than ever :) see you guys soon

Came for a meal and first off the menu was limited because there was dishes that wasn’t available. Secondly I was ID’D for wine when I’m 27! I know I look a little younger than my age but I found it very insulting. Before lock down I came here weekly with my friend and we always had wine and not once was I asked for ID. Lastly my partners brownie was rock hard, they did rectify this when I asked yes but this should be being checked before leaving the kitchen. It was quite an expensive meal and I’d expect better. So basic and not much better than your local beefeater. Also wine over priced.I won’t be returning for sure !

After a lengthy absences from dinning out the past months we excitedly booked the hawk as a first meal as this was one of our favourite restaurants, all I can say is I was throughly disappointed. The service was on par with a poor low level chain restaurant. My partner clearly not in her teens was asked for ID loudly and embarrassingly, we had to repeat our order, missing steak knifes and to top it off my chocolate brownie dessert came out as hard as the plate it was served on. Not the kind of service and food I would expect for a couple paying in excess of £100, we will not be heading back anytime soon.

Brilliant service, lovely food what more can you ask for. Nice to be able to sit inside again, very well controlled, sanitising stations everywhere.

A few years ago I wouldn’t have recommended this place but I love going there now. The food is very good and we often stopped there for a relaxed Sunday lunch. It’s very cosy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend.

Service great, friendly and efficient. Food was good-ish, I thought a bit frugal in some parts - my fillet steak was lovely but accompanied by half a small tomato and the smallest mushroom I've ever seen. However the friendly staff rectified that when mentioned so OK. The wine was expensive. A bottle of Friexenet rosé which is £10 in a supermarket was £30. While I expect a mark up, I don't expect a 300% mark up! Overall was an OK experience but won't be rushing back. Staff are great.

We absolutely loved coming before COVID and we’re pleased to see the hawk open for outside dining, although the menu is very limited me and my friends still enjoyed all of our meals. The staff are always great every time we come and their standards definitely haven’t Fallen. So glad to be back again and can’t wait for indoor dining!

We visited on their opening weekend following the Covid rule changes where outside areas were allowed to open. The service was great, staff were very happy, friendly and helpful and the food was tasty.They had a limited menu on for outside which covered all the bases and food was as tasty as always with no decrease in their usual standards.Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.

We managed to get a table last minute and I’m glad we did!! Me and my friend both had the roast turkey which was absolutely amazing!! The turkey was delicious. We had the sticky toffee pudding and Eaton mess for dessert which were both great portions and also delicious. Will deffo be returning, shame you guys have to close again!

Popped in for lunch, hadn’t booked as spur of the moment visit. We were lucky enough to be given a table and only waited a few minutes which was pleasing as the car park was very full. Covid friendly and we were given full instructions on arrival of do’s and don’t’s. Order taken quite quickly but my choice of starter, deep fried Brie, wasn’t available, so had to quickly choose alternative. I ordered mushrooms on a toasted crumpet and my Son had smoked salmon & king prawns. My Starter was a bit disappointing as it made the crumpet soggy although the sauce was good. My Son’s starter was quite small and was eaten in seconds. Mains arrived in good time, crispy duck salad, Son had Nourish Bowl with falafels. Both meals good and enjoyable. One drink each which was enough with the meal. Good service although waitress could of been a bit more enthusiastic but probably run off her feet with orders. Had to leave via a different door which involved stairs so not good if you have a disability. Would I go back? Probably but wouldn’t rush back. Average meal but ok.

Been coming to hawk for years and loved the menu pre COVID. However upon arrival for my birthday we had a lovely table near the fire however the fire wasn't on so both my sister and mum were very cold throughout the meal. We were then handed the menu's and was not told what was sold out which lead to myself having to constantly change my order. I would not of minded if I was told on arrival what was sold out however it just added to the poor experience... the food arrived and the starter were brilliant however the main course, I felt was pretty bald.. considering the price for the roast chicken the chicken milanese I was expecting more than just chips.... No garnish it just looked like something you'd get from a chain restaurant.. The service was fine however the whole experience was not up to the standard I am used to at the Hawk and therefore I will not be returning.

Good choice of food and very friendly service. Festive menu looks good too so going back to try that! Plenty of parking and right next door to antique shops.

Had a table booked at 5. We waited about 45 minutes for our food to arrive and as soon as we had finished our main we were asked to leave. I asked about dessert and was told that we don’t have time and we must leave the table so the next lot of people can be seated. Obviously we argued our point and the manager was very rude and said don’t talk to me like that. Safe to say we won’t be returning. Only go if you can eat your dinner in ten minutes and don’t want dessert.

Booked the extra special set menu for £50 a head. Didn't have a few of the dishes in stock. What a shame after booking. Surely you'd make sure you'd have enough stock to serve the customers who have booked for the day...DIRTY cutlery, drinks had strange bits in them, waiters/waitresses couldn't remember what two drinks we had ordered and we even had to remind them of what menu we booked so they could bring us what was included in the menu (like the included appetizers) What a waste of our time and an evening. I won't be returning and I'd advise not to vist this restaurant unless you enjoy being ripped off. They must like to save on their energy bills so make sure you bring a coat! You'll be cold otherwise...

We visited the weekend before lockdown for my birthday. The food was amazing and they had a great selection.One of my favourites in the area. They have great choice for veggies and vegans.Lots of parking on site and a separate entrance and exit. This was my 4th visit and I will definitely be returning!

Went to the Hawk to celebrate my daughters exam results. There is plenty of parking with a small car park to the left hand side and an overflow car park beyond that. All service was at the table including drinks. Service was really friendly and prompt. The restaurant was reasonably busy. I had fish cakes as my main and sticky toffee pudding for desert. Both were lovely.

We booked a table at The Hawk last minute and we were so delighted with our first visit. The staff are fantastic and really adhered to the covid guidelines, I haven't felt so safe in a restaurant for a long time. Our waitress (I think her name was Fiona) was so lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, and without a doubt the best in the area. Everything was beautifully presented and the flavours were lovely. The pub had a fantastic atmosphere, despite the regulations and tables were positioned far enough apart to feel safe, but still felt incredibly cosy with the fire burning. We will absolutely be back and cannot wait to return. Think we have found our new local!

Hubby and I had lunch at The Hawk today - mainly because I’d heard they had a good vegan menu - and we weren’t disappointed. I had the vegan Meze Flatbread followed by Billionaire’s Bar with vanilla ice cream, all delicious! My husband isn’t vegan and had a Pork and Scallops dish which he said was great. In addition, to round up a fab lunch, we were looked after by a lovely waitress, who was warm and friendly (I wish I’d asked her name so that I could mention her personally). Well done to The Hawk, we had a lovely visit and will be back soon!

First time visiting the Hawk as came recommended by friends. Lovely looking establishment and very charming inside. Greeted with a warm hostess and seated in no time. Menu is vast and all seems very yummy! Although when we placed our order, Deep fried brei / prawn cocktail for starters, Duck salad and fish cakes for main - I don't think the prices were warranted given portions (very small with wilted herbs on top) - chips or salad with fishcakes accompanied with two overdone asparagus stems? Saying that the food presented was lovely although could have done with a bit more umphh and thoughts rather than chips and salad!! Also, felt was rushed in between courses, no sooner than we were finished with the starters our mains appeared, would have liked a little breather.... Totally get they need to turn tables but that was taking the biscuit....Apart from this, top notch given Covid-19 and all the restrictions in place.If they could right the menu a little would definitely be back, but not first port of call at the mo.

My sister and I booked very late on Friday night and we knew that we wouldn't have long to eat . Parking was easy although the over flow car park would benefit from some lighting.The service was good and Roxanne was very helpful and a friendly waitress. We were kept informed of the time in case we were thinking of ordering a dessert or more drinks. We were informed of all the current Gov rules and given clear directions should we require the toilet and how to exit after our meal.I would recommend The Hawk.

I have just visited the hawk today and always highly rate the food. All our food is was beautiful but unfortunately my dauphinois potatoes were undercooked so I did not eat them. When I told the waitress at the end of the meal she took the whole £23 main off the bill!! Was not expecting that at all! They handled it amazingly and can’t wait to go back for another visit

What can I say, I've been here twice before and the standard is always high. But I've just been for a lunch with my parther and two young children.The kids meals were perfectly cooked.The starters (squid for my partner and brie for me) were delicious and well presented.As for the main what can I say. Easily the best thing I've eaten in a long long time. Everything on the plate was perfectly cooked and I do mean perfect. I had the lamb shank with chorizo....and the picture doesn't even do justice to how good this tasted. The lamb was melt in your mouth. The onions and chorizo along with the jus and slight amount of pesto just made for such a great meal. It's so nice not to be underwhelmed for a change. Honestly so so good. I hope they keep hold of their chef because the attention to detail was just brilliant.

Easy parking although busy . Nice clean pleasant surroundings . Good speedy service and excellent fish and chips ,booked following an E Mail suggesting 50% off mains , mon/tues/wed .Unfortunately I being sadly not good on computors failed to print of voucher . Did not have E Mail on phone so paid full price ! Did not spoil a nice relaxed meal in pleasant surroundings . Will return

Went to the hawk this evening and had a great time. Atmosphere was lovely with the open fire and friendly staff. Food was amazing, steak cooked to absolute perfection. Danielle our waitress was very attentive all night and made sure Rory was busy with the cocktails which where 10/10. Keep it up and hope to see you soon :)

havnt been here for ages so decided to try for lunch. in comparison to two other restaurants we use regularly this pub/restaurant sadly fades into the background. its still pub grub with fancy names with outragerous prices food was average but £22.for rack of lamb(four chops) was not memorable for the right reasons a muddled amount of tastes and not very hot. pork belly also passable but again not hot and not very plentiful for the larver appetite it wouldnt fulfill. however staff lovely appeared wellrun and clean shame aboht the food

Booked a table in the garden area and went for Sunday lunch. Friendly greeting on arrival. We were shown to our table and ordered drinks. we had a dog with us and he was welcomed as well. We had the squid as starters which was tasty. For mains we chose a trio roast and the roast pork belly. Lovely large potion size. food came out hot. Staff were friendly. Great visit and will return soon.

We had 4 smoke salmon & king prawn starters at £7.50 each,Really bad value, it contained 3 prawns, teaspoon of salmon & a teaspoon crab, so for £30 we shared 12 prawns. Mains The Seared sea bass fillets were to well done & the sauteed baby potatoes were just boiled in there skins,The Panko breaded chicken came just the chicken on a plate no sauce no leaves just possible frozen chips very plain..2 of us had the Belly Pork it was slightly over done but OK. We also had 2 sticky puddings & a creme brulee very nice. We also had 2 drinks each our bill was £155 been here on many occasions before lock down, our 1st meal out since. We were very disappointed with the value for money, especially the starter. (Wont be coming back). Also you would not except our gourmet card which would have made it better value, this was not listed when we booked on line, (surprise surprise) but that's life. We all got the impression its been a hard time for the Industry, lets try & claw it back as quick as possible, by serving overpriced basic food. We could have complained on the night, but the food was acceptable, without being great, it was not value for money, The staff were suburb a credit to the Hawk, of course there will be a good excuse, don't bother, yours, Mr & Mrs Woods

My friend and I came in for a late lunch on a Monday, we were shown to our table by a very friendly host. Firstly, the interior was very modern and clean, you can tell that it’s very well maintained.Both the lunch and A la carte menu were packed with meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan choices, very strong menus catering for all needs. The service throughout was faultless, Ana and Megan were lovely girls, very friendly and professional. Now onto the food.. simply delicious, I opted for the squid to start, followed by the prawn and crab fish cakes with grilled vegetables, my friend ordered the ribeye steak. It was all was cooked to perfection, I could tell that everything was freshly prepared.We even got to meet one of the Chefs, Charlie, a lovely guy. We couldn’t thank him enough for the amazing food and service.I will definitely be returning!

We visited the Hawk on Sunday with our friends and had a wonderful meal. The food was timely, tasty and service exceptional. It won’t be long before we return!

Went on a Thursday evening and place was busy.Service was very good polite freindly and helpfull (Sarah I think) Food was quick to arrive and was hot and nicely presented .Didn't do desert as too full.

Came to the hawk the other night and had a lovely meal, although the prices are quite expensive the service and the food does match, I had the duck salad which was lovely and my partner had a ribeye which he seemed to enjoy, will deffo be back!!

Food was really tasty. Very prompt and Dan (waiter) was nothing short of brilliant. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice pub with great food and good drink choices. Will be back soon

Great meal tonight in a very well organised restaurant. Tables nicely distanced, hand sanitiser on entry, one way in and one way out. Everything explained too. Food was really well presented and delicious.

Started off badly, the waitress brought the wine over left it in the bucket unopened. I had ordered the sauvignon blanc pointed out to the waitress the French one & not the low alcohol/ calorie one. After pouring out 2 glasses myself & taking a few mouthfuls we realised it was the low alcohol one. Reported to waitress who wanted to charge us for the 2 glasses poured out! Roast beef meal arrived, they didnt have any horseradish sauce & came with what i imagine are Aunt Bessie's roast potatoes & yorkshire pudding, not pleasant. A lovely old character pub spoilt by serving food that isn't homemade & poorly trained waitress.

I cannot believe the food we were served when we visited the Hawk after the lockdown. The waitress that served us had dirty clothes on, no one was interested in serving the customers and the food was disgusting. The prices they charge for the garbage they serve the customer, they should be ashamed of themselves. I tried to do the survey but the website advises that they are not taking any surveys at the moment......I wonder why!Online, you can't contact anyone, not surprised really. They should get their act together if they want to stay open. Serve better food and provide better service.

Excellent dinner service with family the other evening. Senita was our waitress, she was fantastic- attentive, chatty and knowledgable. Food was delicious and arrived very promptly, will definitely be back!

Wonderful lunch with the hubby. Good value for eat out to help out! Hubby had bacon chicken and Brie pie. Said it was delicious. I had prawn and crab fish cakes with salad. We’re nice but not very meaty. The haloumi fries were delicious. I had the pornstar Eton mess, omg this was to die for. I did ask for no vodka on it as they put 10mls if vodka over the top! Hubby had sticky toffee pudding and custard, he said this was so nice! Definitely will return very soon. The service by our waitress Sarah was also outstanding, advising us on the dishes. She is a credit to the company!

The Hawk has always been one of my favourite restaurants to visit, excellent food and service with such friendly staff as well. Visited again today for a late lunch, and as always everything was of a high standard even with the difficult times they must be having with COVID-19. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Prawn chorizo and crab linguini lacking in prawns and crab, over cooked prawns, everything on the rush had mains arrive before we had finished starters, constantly being asked if we wanted desserts. When asked if we could have another bottle of wine was told no the table was booked even though there were plenty of empty tables we were told they were all booked. And to top it off they conveniently forgot the eat out to help out discounts had to bring to their attention. Never again.

Another excellent meal at The Hawk, with the pub well laid out to adhere to the current rules around social distancing. Little evidence of the "limited menu" as referenced in other reviews.

Our first time at The Hawk, and it was a very nice lunch, service was great, especially Meg, all were well trained ,felt very at ease there, food was excellent,all four enjoyed our mains and deserts

Great communication from the beginning on Covid-19 measures. Staff were friendly and helpful, checking-in regularly. Lovely food.

Visited the Hawke today for a Sunday lunch and myself and my wife found the staff and the service impeccable..Very prompt service and very friendly staff especially from our waitress Michelle who was very professional and pleasant..Already booked to come back with family..With thanxTony & Connie

I have visited the Hawk with my friends for dinner, it was my first time out since lockdown and I can’t recommend it enough! The tables were nicely spaced and there was still a lovely atmosphere! Sarah recommend the chicken Milanese and it did not disappoint! The food was well worth the price and I cannot wait to return!

Visited in August to take advantage of the eat out scheme. Weather was 30 degrees plus, so the venue was sticky and uncomfortable as it has no air con and, as our waiter explained, several of the windows, including the one by us, are stuck shut.Service was slow and the food bland and over priced.My chicken chipotle starter was tasty, but tiny and contained 4 pieces of small chicken. My main, chicken and bacon pie, was stodgy, bland and served with luke warm mash and undercooked asparagus. My ice cream dessert was a puddle before it reached the table. My wife's food was also poor, the crab and prawn starter was awful, the duck main was poor, with her creme brulee the only redeeming feature. Gastro price, cafe quality, very disappointing.

Took my parents here as their first outing during COVID-19. Felt safe and secure from start to finish. One way routes, hand sanitizer at the front door and tables far away from each other. The out door seating was closed as it was meant to thunder. The food was delicious on every course. Big and generous portions and incredibly well made and served. Would 100% recommend for great food and service and a safe atmosphere if you're nervous about COVID-19

I went for dinner during the "Eat out to help out" period and the organisation for entering, one way system, table only service etc was exemplary. Once ordered, the food arrived quickly, piping hot and exactly as ordered. All the staff managed to get around customers moving as well as tables without it appearing awkward or "strange" and eve the local customers (clearly regulars) were friendly. Highly recommend a visit.

Bit of a late review! But came in for lunch on a Sunny Thursday, trying to cheer ourselves up after our holiday was cancelled at the last minute. The manager/ waitress (lady in a floral dress) was fantastic. Pizzas were really enjoyable, very fresh, and the best halloumi fries I’ve ever had!

Two of us met for pre-booked dinner and drinks at The Hawk, post lockdown and enjoyed the quiet calm and lovely service. I’d recommend - so much more pleasant than when it’s ram-packed on a Friday evening! Good food, as always.

Another great visit to the Hawk Today. Served outside in the garden with full food and drink! This place is always amazing and even better on the Eat Out Scheme to save 50% :)

Came in the other day and had a really pleasant experience, our waitress had great knowledge of the menu- I think her name was Sarah, we had the lamb rack and it was delicious, compliments to the chef!!

I'm a regular here, come most times a week but not always for a meal, I know sharmaine quite well and today she was serving me, lovely person and great to talk to and get along with even though she was saying the rest of the night was very stressful, lovely food as well, had a great time. Also Rory was very friendly as well and kept coming up to us seeing if we were OK, enjoyable evening.

As always, a great experience of dining at The Hawk. On the first day of Dine Out to Help Out, we thought it’d be busy but even so our service from Charmaine was excellent and our food was too. Due to the popularity of the Government deal a few of the menu items weren’t available but we were lucky that our choices were unaffected. Would highly recommend.

Been there numerous times before lockdown. Understand menu is limited but Sunday roast is not difficult. But apparently cutting corners with the main ingredient BEEF. Was utter crap so much gristle that out of three pieces you would manage to get three mouthfuls. Finished up paying 50% of bill for four people. That bad. Some idiot at their office had the cheek to give the Chef a inferior cut to try to cook. Just cutting corners to make money. Shame on you.

Came into The Hawk for a meal with a friend and was very impressed. I have not been out to eat since lockdown and was a little bit nervous, however the procedures they have put in place left me feeling very safe. The tables are well distanced however close enough to still allow for a nice atmosphere. I could not fault my waitress either, Sarah was very attentive, constantly asking us if we were okay for drinks and served us with a smile. On Sarah's recommendation, I had the 'Dirty Burger' which was simply amazing and I highly recommend it. The Hawk might be a little pricey but is well worth it, I had a lovely evening catching up with my friend and eating good food, I will definitely be returning soon!
