Bourgee Steak Lobster Luxe Lounge in Chelmsford

Please please stay away the service is poor the food is below poor . Absolute waste of money and it was a special occasion asked to speak to the manager with the problems that we had. The answer was I’m only in employee. There’s many restaurants in Chelmsford spend your money elsewhere.

Delightful little restaurant right in the middle of Chelmsford town centre. The decor and atmosphere were wonderful, the staff were excellent and the food was great and reasonably priced. We had lovely starters and a delicious Sunday roast for our main. The food was presented beautifully and tasted incredible. 5 stars

Went to Bourgee with my wife and daughter because we wanted to go out somewhere a bit different. Really glad we did. It's a stylish place and we were really well attended to by friendly staff. Had the duck gyozas to start which were crispy and delicious. Then a rump steak with chips and green veg. Was pleasantly surprised by all of it. No complaints at all and hope to go back. It's a bit pricier than some of the standard restaurants we use in town but it was really worth it.

Went to the Chelmsford Bourgee with a few friends for a bottomless brunch as a belated birthday get together! First time coming here so was a little skepital about what to expect. Couldn't fault the service at all! One of the girls was running a bit late from out party, Our server was so patient! Normally a bottomless brunch starts from your booked time or when you sit down, But our server allowed us to wait until our freind arrived to start properly. The drinks were also flowing! and brillant food!! Still yet to come here to try their dinner menu but i will absoutley be returning!! Totally recommend if your looking for a bottomless brunch with your girls!! Prices are also very reasonable. Im sorry i forgot the servers name but came 18th Feb around 1pm.

We ate at Bourgee tonight for the first time. “Fine” is the word that describes our experience - nothing was terribly wrong, but it wasn’t great. Two starters, bread and olives, two mains, two cocktails = £135. The steaks were no nicer than the ones we buy from Aldi every week and cook at home. The starter advertised as burrata was a very cheap and dry mozzarella. Cocktails were nice enough but nothing special. Waitresses were nice, can’t complain about the service. But we eat out a lot and this was all very average and a bit disappointing.

Myself and a friend visited here for lunch on a Thursday. It was very quiet and everyone else seemed to be having afternoon tea we went for the set lunch menu. The selection was small but extremely well done. I had gorgeous chicken dumplings to start followed by the best beefburger I have ever eaten in a restaurant in Chelmsford. The ice cream after was lovely too. Bill came to 30 per head for a three course lunch with no alcohol. The *raining" window gave a nice backdrop water effect. Would definitely recommend.

So not only did we have to wait over 50 mins for one starter to overhear the waiters say that our order hadn’t even been put through and then be lied to about the delay, they even forgot something as simple as a tap water and then had the cheek to give us a bottle of the wrong wine which had a £6.49 sticker on it which wasn’t even in the wine menu. The steaks we ordered finally arrived and they were covered in way too much garlic and were very chewy and hard to cut (which wasn’t helped by not being given a steak knife in a steakhouse?). Left hungry. Won’t be going back, this used to be a classy venue.

Booked the Chelmsford restaurant for a birthday meal with a couple of mates, and the service was quite possibly the worst service I’ve ever had to deal with, we had to preorder our food before going and after 2 hours of being in the restaurant there was still no sign of our food, even tho tables next to us that come in after us got they’re food before us, we booked are table for 7.30 and the car parks we had parked in in Chelmsford close at 10.00pm, meaning we would’ve had no time to eat the food anyway, so we paid for the drinks and left, poor service wouldn’t recommend to anyone to go here

What has happened to this place? It has really gone downhill. It's such a shame as I used to really rate it. My burger and dessert were nice. However, the chips were overcooked, unfortunately. But the main reason for my 1 star review was the service. The guy who served us was awful, you can really tell he didn't want to be there. We all asked for a coke and were given a can of coke, which had 75p on them. The bill came and we were charged £3 per can, I understand they need to make a profit but I advised I think its best they are poured out by the bar (as why would anyone want to see how ripped off they are getting charged) . He came across rude and made me and my friends feel uncomfortable, I was only giving a suggestion. I didn't expect him to be argumentive. I won't be returning as I feel good customer service makes the experience and this place lacks it!

Me and my partner held a baby shower for about 40 people. Shaun the manager couldn’t of been more helpful with making sure everything ran smoothly for us. Him and the staff were great. We all had afternoon tea and the food was yummy. Thank you soooo much for making our special day so special :)

Usually LOVE this place, been visiting for years and never had a bad experience, until we visited this weekend and it has put us off of returning. We were sat upstairs with one other table, and we’re forgotten about for 15 minutes. We ordered our drinks which took a further 25 minutes to arrive. Ordered our starters, all 4 of us had the same thing, but 2 arrived and then the other 2 came out 5 minutes later. Our empty starter plates were left on the table until they brought our mains up, and we had to then clear the table ourselves to make room for the mains they had ready to pass over. Our steaks (all fillets, which aren’t cheap!) were all cold, we had to remind the waitress about our sauces and sides, and then had our chips brought to us in HUGE bowls, which just looked ridiculous. We ordered cokes, and had cans of multipack coke put on our table - in an expensive restaurant, this is just not what you’d expect at all. We honestly couldn’t wait to get out of the restaurant, we had barely finished our food and were already asking for the bill so we could just leave. By the time we got our food, the upstairs area was filling up and every table around us was heard to be complaining about various things too. Such a shame it’s gone so downhill, used to be a go-to for a birthday or occasion, but unfortunately we feel like we just wasted £200 on a really average meal, with terrible service. On reflection, I wish we had said something, as the price of the final bill did not reflect the quality of food/service we had, but we were so desperate to leave the restaurant we just paid and got out. Please do better Bourgee, you used to be amazing. So so disappointed and my sister was left apologising to us all for picking you guys for her birthday meal and feeling like we wasted our money.

Used to love this restaurant but my goodness, after what I experienced today I will not be returning. Arrived to a messy dining area - uncleared tables, food all over the floor and generally off-putting ambience. Sat for 15 mins before finally asking if we could see a menu. The roast dinner used to be outstanding but they have changed the format to grey, rubbery beef (at a third of the previous portion size), crunchy undercooked carrot batons and what I could have sworn were frozen roasties and yorkies. Waited 45 mins for the food to arrive, only to send the whole lot back within 5 minutes. The cauliflower cheese was cold and swimming in water, suggesting it was also frozen. The manager agreed that the meal was terrible and service had also been terrible and therefore didn’t ask for a penny to be paid. This however didn’t compensate for a ruined Sunday lunch.
