Ctzn in Chelmsford

Always looked at this place never sure , but what a place I have been missing although I didn’t eat this time I was welcome by the staff and made very welcome the staff explain all the points of the restaurant and explained the happy hour times and what to expect on different nights so we will be using this place again dave and Chris rogers

great kebabs and service when we visited last year. we will be returning when we get the opportunity soon

Came to Chelmsford to meet a friend who lives somewhere else in essex. Came to this bar. Did the cocktail making and came back later on in the evening. It was very busy so not much room but it's a popular club so I expected it. The door staff and bar staff were all friendly. The music was good. Definitely worth a visit. I'll be back next time i come to Chelmsford

Bad bad bad it’s soooo dead like never ever ever go ever ever ever for a night out no one is here. I managed to write an essay in a club. I have never been able to do that in Colchester

I placed an order for a takeaway, but they decided to cancel it for no reason without letting me know, disrupting my plans

They should advertise this place more cause it was hard to find or hear about it.Recommended by a friend ,decide it to give it a go , well we weren't disappointed ,the staff was friendly and the food was great , ,the table we got was an amazing ,we will definitely come back to this place .

Absolutely lovely little find just popped in after looking at the menu out side came in was told there was a lunch menu at 7.90 for start and main and a specials menu that offered 20% off all I can say is a stunning meal even had dessert it was STUNNING!!! Can't wait to go again tried Turkish pizza starter was lovely tried it for something different bit can t wait to visit again it was a nice quiet Sunday lunch and so very lovely and so fairly priced. Once again amazing thank you to the chef and the staff 2 very happy campers

The latest iteration of this city centre bar sees it serving up pretty tasty Turkish food, perfect for a quick lunch. Food was prepared in an open kitchen, so you can see exactly what they're doing, and it was all really tasty - on a par with the best Turkish street food I've eaten. Service was friendly enough, the bar itself feels a little rough despite yet another facelift...

I went there for a business lunch , the service was good and fast the food as tasty and fresh . I really recommend this place .

What a great place to have a quick meal, which I have to say was great value. Burger and Chips £6.00. The young lady Amber that serviced us was so helpful and a credit to the business.

I had been coming here for years as a nightclub but didn't realise they did food until walking past it one afternoon so me and a mate decided to try it.

My wife and I got a group on voucher for here, and as we'd been before thought we'd both have the grilled sea bass. Wife had stuffed vine leaves for starter, I had grilled gallium cheese. I had chips with my fish and the wife had rice.

Their food gave me food poisoning and I called to complaint decently, didn't want or get any refund or replacement. Gave them another shot another day as was craving for a kebab - they missed half my order I paid for! Called the Chef and he swore and screamed down the phone claiming I was after free food (lol) and hung up! Never experienced this before. My order receipt says clear as day what I ordered and what I paid for. Perhaps if they could read it would help! Haven't received a refund or a replacement to date. So many beautiful places in Chelmsford. Avoid this AT ALL COST.

We used a Groupon voucher which was for two courses with beer or wine for 2 for £19. What amazing value for food that is absolutely gorgeous. I had halloumi and chicken shish and my husband had humous with flat bread and a mixed grill. You can see the chef cooking it fresh and we didn't have wait long. Very friendly staff and they had a dj playing great music. I would definately recommend this place and would quite honestly eat there without a voucher!

My partner and I had a starter each and a main and a pint of lager on a Saturday evening at around 19:00. I had sea bass and I must say it was the best cooked I have ever had. My hubby had a Turkish pizza and a kebab for his main and he was every bit as impressed! We will be visiting again!

Fresh food, good service, good prices! No more Nando's for me I'm going to eat in CTZN😊 always having a good lunch there

I came here with a friend a few days ago, excited to try the Turkish food on offer from what appeared to be an impressive menu. The staff were so disorganised and unprofessional it really wasn't good. The starters were just okay - we shared the halloumi and hummus and they were nice but nothing special. The main however was tragically disappointing when it arrived. We both had what was supposed to be the chicken shish, but when it arrived it was a mess. The rice was clearly microwave rice or something as was all congealed together and completely flavourless. The chicken was bland and not well seasoned. We also didn't realise until we got home and was showing the menu to our friends that the chicken didn't even come on the skewers with peppers and onions as advertised and just came as cubes plonked on top of rice. We hadn't even realised as we were too busy commenting on the blandness of the food, I'm so annoyed as I would most definitely have raised this as an issue at the time. Bottom line is that the service is all over the place, the food bland and not served as advertised and I wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

Second visit to this fab restaurant. Superb food, I would highly recommend it to everyone who likes a very tasty meal. Glen the manager even remembered us from our first visit some months back , and that I was Gluten intolerant.

Had a fantastic meal there yesterday and it is 50% off on Sundays well worth a visit and the kids loved it.

My wife and I had an excellent meal at a reasonable price and well presented. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Full marks.

We visited CTZN with a GroupOn special deal and had one of the best meals ever. 2 courses plus a large wine was £8 each! We went early in the evening when there were few people and service excellent. Our mixed grill mains were very tasty but so large we couldn't finish it all

Called here for lunch a couple of weeks ago with a groupon. Staff were pleasant but food disappointing. The starters were just ok, my other half had the gourmet burger which was just a ordinary burger. I ordered the sea bass which on the groupon picture was a whole seabass with saute potatoes. On the menu the choice was rice or salad. The portion was not a whole seabass but one very small fillet on a pile of rice ( I had ordered salad!) A salad was bought on request which consisted of a few leaves and bits of tomato and cucumber with no dressing. I asked for dressing, but they didn't do salad dressing!!!. Didn't risk dessert.

I did message & email CTZN before leaving this review but as they appear to have little or no value for their customers, they never replied.

Stopped for lunch as we saw that it served Turkish cuisine. The food we had was absolutely lovely but.......where was the Turkish bread, the yoghurt and the chai?

went in for early dinner prior to the cinema, couple of glasses of prosecco which were lovely (sometimes when buying by the glass not as fresh as I would like) starters I had scampi my friend had taramasalata, pitta was a little overdone that came with her taramasalata other than that was lovely. The chicken Shish however was the best I have had in a long time. Service was good, so all in all a great place to go.

Called in here yesterday afternoon (11/09/2016) for some lunch. Got to CTZN at about 2:30pm, and I should've turned around as soon as I saw the place. It looked like a bomb site. Cluttered tables litters with dirty plate and glasses, mess all over the place and no one seemed to be doing anything about it. We cleared an empty table ourselves, and I went in to order some drinks I got to the bar and was immediately informed that they "only had burgers left". I ordered a beer and a wine, and took them to our table. The wineglass the Zinfandel was served in was dirtier than the restaurant. I took a swig of my Peroni and we got up and walked out. I won't be bothering with this place again.

The staff were pleasant on our arrival, booked for 18.30 arrived 18.15.

We returned to Ctzn for lunch and it was as good if not better than our first visit. The staff were still very friendly and helpful the service quick and the food was cooked to perfection

Have ate here a couple of times now. The first being a groupon deal for 4 which was great value for money and 2nd using my tastecard. Staff always very pleasant and attentive but not too in your face. Nice choice of food on menu (i am a rather fussy eater) prompt service and food been lovely, nice and tender meat with lots of flavour and fluffy rice.

Just wanted to say this is the first time we have been to CTZN and found the food, service and drinks all very good.

Not impressed with the fact that the manager Carl informed my husband that Sea Bass would be on the menu. My husband asked him a few times and he said not to worry that there would be Sea Bass available on Sunday (bearing in mind we only booked the table the day before). However there was no Sea Bass available when we sat down and began to order our food. We had travelled from Gravesend, so was very disappointed that we had been lied to as it was the Sea Bass that had inspired us to book a table here. On top of that we were informed that all drinks were half price. However when I ordered my husband and I, a Bombay Sapphire with Lemonade each, we were informed that all the drinks in that section were not a part of the Sunday 50% off offer. Only the wines, beers and the house vodka, brandy etc were which did not make any sense to us.

I've eaten here before, and it was pleasant, however i decided to have a bit of nostalgia and go again, but as it was a Friday and this place becomes a wild drinking hole, i decided on a takeaway. So i rang to confirm the starter/main course offer, and got an impatient bloke on the phone who told me everything i wanted was available. I ordered via hungryhouse as i get cashback and then got a call saying my order didn't come through properly. So i re-ordered and was then told that the two things i ordered are unavailable. So i changed it. Ok, these things happen. I got a delivery time and it arrived 20mins late. The delivery driver was intoxicated on something, and then tried to short change me to get more tip. So i told him how much change to give me negating his tip. When we opened the food, it wasn't hot, and we ordered both items with chips, and got rice. I ordered a Lamb Shish, this portion was 4 small pieces of Lamb. Come on... My local kebaby does better than that! I didn't bother to call back and complain as it was already past 9pm and we were hungry. So in summary, if you want to eat food from here, go there and eat on a Sunday only, when its 50% off, as that is then a justified price for the offering.

Have eaten in here for dinner numerous times now and every time the food has been lovely. Chicken shish is always cooked perfectly. Works out very cheap if you use a tastecard, and drinks are usually in happy hour. Definitely recommend!

This is the first time I have put a review on a take away. I was so impressed with their Shish kebab, lamb.

My husband and I visited using a Groupon voucher so the price was exceptionally good for what we had.

Enjoyed the night, good music, decent crowed. Would come back! Not as crowded as it used to be so more room for a dance! The only thing I wasn't so keen on we're the vodka 'Redbulls' that I ordered not overly sure what brands were used for either drinks! Other than that, I would come again!

50% rip off beware most exspensive prosseco in Chelmsford £35.00 even with the offer still £17.50 exspensive lunch in the end diddnt even get a strawberry.

We were given a groupon voucher for CTZN, we booked a table then read the reviews. After reading them we nearly didn't go. How glad am I that we did go. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was perfectly cooked and presented and it all tasted superb. We will definitely be going back soon and would recommend it without hesitation.

Visited yesterday with my daughter. Food was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Big portions of food that we couldn't eat it all, so got a doggy bag to take home. Will defiantly return soon.

I came here for a friends birthday in March. Atmosphere and music was good along with some good cocktail offers on the night (this was a Saturday). We also got free entry as we went in around 10.30pm.

Its a lovely place to go for drinks in the evening, especially on a Friday when the drinks prices are cheap. I would come here more often if there was more drink deals as being a student I cant usually afford drinks prices in here apart from the days they have drink deals.

CTZN bar in Chelmsford high-street is a great night out for ages from 18-30. the music is great party music and spread over two rooms playing all types, drink prices are competitive to other bars/clubs in the high-street. entry on Saturdays after 10pm is £5. would visit again for another fun night out!

Love finishing my night here, Great staff, Great music, Great drink selection. No wonder as to why its Chelmsford's busiest venue.
