The best restaurants in Chelmsford East of England

Absolutely brilliant!! From the moment me and my wife walked in, we was greeted very friendly and the service and food was amazing! Definitely recommend and yes we will be back!!

We visited this charming little pub/ restaurant on a recommendation and so glad we did. We booked a lunchtime slot on the same day as we were in the area. On arrival we were shown immediately to our table and offered drinks . The menu is varied without being too large offering vegetarian and vegan meal choices with a daily special. The restaurant offers locally sourced food cooked simply but beautifully. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food on offer. I went for the daily special of black and blue cheese burger with fries @£10 with a fabulously fresh prawn cocktail to start generously portioned. For dessert my partner and I shared an unusual take on sticky toffee pudding recreated as a bread pudding with hot caramel coated banana and a scoop of delicious ice cream. This dessert was amazingly light and sublimely tasty. The service throughout was impeccable. I don’t think I have enjoyed a lunch out as much as I did at The Hoop for quite a while. This is a complete gem of a place and is well deserving of its AA rating. I would not be surprised if at some point a Michelin star may be awarded.

Shocking customer service from this hotel. Made an error when booking and rather than assist in correcting it was very much computer says no….. stay in the premier in down the road much nicer/helpful staff

Called in here with a friend a few months ago and everything was fine. When we returned on our next visit, they were closing, even though it was only 4pm and closing time was advertised as 5pm. The third visit, they were open, but there was only one miserable member of staff serving. She was more interested in mopping the floor (which I think should be done after closing) She seemed displeased to have customers and practically threw our order on the table, nearly shattering the glass top. I have never seen anyone so miserable. Customer service should always be friendly and with a smile, but if she cannot manage that, then she should get a job elsewhere, there is no excuse ! On leaving, I paid the bill, whilst she was on the phone, and she barked out '' mind the floor'' We shall not be returning thank you !.

We had a couple of ciabattas for £6.95 when we visited very recently, we were very nice , 2 time been there it’s pretty good value

An excellent authentic Italian: superb welcome and service; exceptionally good food; and a highly economical set lunch menu for £15. Probably the best minestrone soup; probably the finest pizza Margherita. Unconditionally recommended!!

My duck chow mein was dreadful the duck was fatty and grisly had trough it away will never go there again

Went in to muffin break today not been in for few months couldn’t believe the price of the cakes slice how much it was over £5 a slice 3 coffee and 3 slice cakes nearly £29 a joke may be make slices smaller and price lower

Unusual, traditional tearoom with old fashioned furniture. Fantastic selection of proper teas served in handmade tea bags in tea pots with little tea cosies. Nice quiet place out of the way. My husband enjoyed a slice of coffee and walnut cake which had a good quantity of walnuts which was to his liking. Unfortunately they had run out of Gluten Free cake options but I enjoyed my cup of tea anyway.

Second year visit for flower show and of course another two visits to Deli. Food absolutely delicious. Unfortunately seemed to be short on staff again. Long wait in queue,then another wait for food. Lovely to sit in the courtyard,with good food and coffee. Shortage of forks and spoons and serviettes. Will be back next for certain.

The best food and service you can get, the food is is high standard and super clean in there. This place is worth a visit as you can fall in love with that place.

EXCELLENT COSTUMER SERVICE AND DELICIOUS FOOD. Arrived last night way after they closed, and the lady saw we were so hungry and asked the chef if he could make something and he sais yes! I find this is an exceptional costumer service as they had every right to say no as it had been closed for an hour but instead they fed 3 of us with the biggest smile in their face. On top op that the food was delicious and great prices for the high quality food. Thank you and we will be back!🙂

Two times back to back I've had a horrific experience with this KFC, so much so, I think it will be my last visit! Food previous occasion - a 20 minute wait and not all chicken options available. Chips were cold. Staff clueless and missing. This time. No milkshakes available - again, this is extremely poor Chicken - oily and had the smell of old cooking oil. They did not listen to my order as I do not eat legs and asked for sidebreasts if possible, this was not listened to and no piece of chicken was a side breast. The restaurant itself - smells like sewage and the floor is a grease pit. Utterly disgusting. I recommend that everyone takes note of this review and avoids like the plague! Popeyes is a short distance and is better value for money. Trust me I do not often leave reviews, this is as honest as I can be without swearing. What a waste of money! The smell in this place is rank!!!!
