New Oriental House in Chelmsford

Ordered a takeaway for the 1st time, arrived within the hour and delivered by a pleasant guy. Unfortunately it was virtually cold and tasted awful. Won't bother again.

Messed up my meal and was rude when I asked for a new one and made me pay for a new one.

I recently tried the local Chinese food place, and I was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, the service was quick, and the pickup process was easy. Overall, a great experience - I'll definitely be going back for more!

Ordered £50 takeaway thesat eve had few things left over so wanted order couple dishes to top up for Sunday night then I was told that I was 20p under they won't deliver it be ordering from China Palace in future bad service after what I spent and always tip drivers even though deliver cost put on bill

I will repeat what other reviewers have said CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE! What a shame that you can’t trust them. Only once we opened the food at home did we realise that they had given us the incorrect dishes. We called them and they agreed that the kitchen had made the mistake. However, the manager was so rude when we went to collect the food we actually ordered! No apology given. There’s no need for this. It’s so short sighted. We will never use again.

This is one of the best Asian places in Chelmsford. The food is perfect, the portions are great, the prices are more than fair, the staff is great, the service is fast. In the past years I’ve visited this place around 100 times. It’s just so convenient. I recommend Special Fried Rice.

Delivery was fast but I would not recommend as the food is bland the pork was dry tough and more fat then meat absolute waste of money!

Never had a bad takeout from here they do a lovely chicken curry, also reasonable prices. Staff polite and helpful.

Great place to get a quick takeaway! Food was delicious and still hot when I got home 20 minutes later. Service was very friendly by three young people running it, and also quick. Setting itself is nice, and food not too expensive. 4.7/5

I placed the order and asked that they repeat it, Still wrong and two items missing, , Not up to usual standard. Food not very warm and up to usual quality.Will be looking for a new chinese

Check your food before you leave. My experience was arriving home with items missing. They 'kindly' offered 90p off the order (£35) after driving back for the missing items and laughed as I left. JUST RUDE Must be a local takeaway offering better service than this.

Best chinese in Chelmsford, and i've pretty much tried them all!!

Normally nice food but last night 2 dishes missing and the currys were watery and bland. Very dissatisfied. Spent over £40 and had to order again from another Chinese.

Told up to an hour for delivery, but took 2 hours to arrive, after serveral calls. Food was still somewhat hot when it arrived and tasted fine but I wouldn't have ordered from here if they where honest about the delivery times. Ruined our evening.

Very nice Chinese, admittedly it went downhill previously so we hadn’t been in years but we gave it a try tonight it was great! Bang on time, pleasant staff and not a single thing forgotten. Highly recommend.

Ordered food 2 hours before we wanted it delivered. It turned up an hour late! Called to ask where it was only to be spoken to by a non apologetic employee who sounded like they were used to getting similar calls. When it finally arrived the meal was lukewarm, and went cold very quickly after we dished it up. We ordered the Crackling Pork dish but after spending over an hour in a plastic container the only crackling part was the lid being taken off the box. Overall the quality of the food was good but our meal was ruined by poor service. They need to address the deliveries if they want to keep their customers. On this experience and the apathetic attitude of the staff we won’t be going back.

I stopped using this takeaway about 8 months ago as it went very downhill, but yesterday I decided to give it another go as things change, but unfortunately it was worse than I remembered. Definitely will not be going back!

Lovely food, fresh, staff helpful. Small off main road takeaway. Do not be put off as it is small an I side road. Best Chinese in long time, good price

One of the best Chinese takeaways around! Friendly staff, great food. It was a sad day when the restaurant closed down but the takeaways are still top notch!

Not a great place to get chinese unless you like greasy stale tasting food such a shame

Placed an order was told it would be half hour - accepted that - 40 mins later queried where our order was and told along way down list !!!! Be at least another half hour !!!! If we ever receive the order I’ll let you know if it was worth the wait !

Awful 2 hour and 15 min wait followed by incorrect delivery. The correct with missing items. Food was flavourless and cheap. Prawn crackers were good

Polite staff, quick turnaround and decent food. So glad that it was open on a Tuesday as my local Chinese Take Away was not.

Ordered a standard chow mein, the basics of a Chinese takeaway in England. Pretty dry noodles, not much flavour, barely any bean sprouts and no onions or absolutely anything else. Okay portion size and not bad price.

Had special fried rice. Hardly any meat.2 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of small pork.2 shrimp. The pork was processed just put me off from there now 😒

The food is always lovely. I would always recommend the salt & chilli ribs. It can get very busy but that's only because the food is good.

I don't live in the area but was there for a conference at the parish hall near by. For lunch I ordered singapore fried rice and beef with peppers and black bean sauce. It was soooooooo yummy. My hubby who isn't a Chinese food fan gobbled it up too. I woke up the next day thinking about how I wish I can get more.

Pretty standard chinese takeaway. Been using it since the 1980's off and on. It has gone down hill a bit over the last few years in my opinion. Food a bit 'gluggy' and/or salty, portions smaller and prices high. Update: Under new ownership it has improved a bit but the prices are still highish and the portions small. Especially infuriating is the inability to use contactless payment for anything less than £15.

Just moved to great Baddow and thought we'd try the local cuisine.. We found the food to just not taste right, Kung poo chicken, chow mein, egg fried rice and shredded chilli beef.. None of it was quite right. Now I know every takeaway is different.. Maybe you'll like it, it just wasn't for us. Oh and no free prawn crackers for an order over £20... Insanity!

We last had a takeaway meal from this restaurant one year ago which was terrific and tasty in every way and I can only assume they now have new staff. The meal we had last night was awful, the chicken was tough the sweet and sour pork (?) balls were inedible and the rest was of poor quality. Will not be having food from this restaurant again. Such a shame.

The worst service we have ever had. being told we had ordered to much food when we were paying for it. Duck for three people supplied with 5 pabncakes, and 2 dishes missing from the main course and 1 dish we never ordered.!!!!!!! Then to top the whole bad experiance the waiter actually cleared the plates at the table almost in my wifes lap. £70 on average food with rubbish service, Would not reccomend anybody vist unless they want a Falwty Towers meal. Very very unhappy.

Tried it but it just tasted bland the curry was spicy & greasy and the squid was like rubber i don't think i will go here again.
