First visit and will not return.
Very disappointed, food Luke warm if you were lucky but some of it cold, sauce curries were cooked in consistency of water, and food bland and tasteless, can honestly say worst buffet I have ever had.
No atmosphere at all , service basic all they had to do to was remove platesxfrom table .
My partner and I had the most wonderful evening at ASK Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, we shared a few dishes and genuinely couldn’t pick a favourite!
What truly made the experience stand out, was the service. Our waitress, Agnes, was exceptional. She was kind, attentive without being intrusive, and had a real warmth that made us feel genuinely cared for. She gave great recommendations and checked in at just the right moments — it felt like she really wanted us to have a great evening, and we absolutely did. We’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you to Agnes and the whole team for such a memorable night.
We went for a family meal on Saturday evening. The service and setting were great but the food was very disappointing. The prawn cocktail looked like it had been thrown together in seconds and had far too much sauce. The sea bass while cooked well was bland and lacked flavour, the steak with average at best with far too much salt added and my daughter had tomato pasta and even that was not good with my daughter disliking it ( unheard of normally with pasta). Considering the price we all left disappointed and have no plans to return which is a shame as the setting is lovely. We have had nothing but good experiences in the Writte restaurant so will perhaps return here instead.
Not the place to go to on a Sunday evening.
When we arrived -slightly put off by dog allowed to sit in a customer chair in the bar area?
Several popular items on the menu had run out; others had parts unavailable.
The 'special' ordered by one of my family...entitled 'chicken with salsa' came with no salsa, so was very dry.
Yorkshires were dry and cracked like meringue nests - inedible. Was told it was because they are kept warm for a long time in the oven!
It was explained that they aimed to run out of many items by Sunday lunchtime to avoid waste. Offered free desserts - disappointing - see photo of sad ice-cream in very chipped pot. Waitress forgot to bring spoons which manager eventually rectified, by which time ice-cream mostly melted.
Manager explained staff were very tired as it had been a busy lunchtime?
We have visited The Hawk many times over many years and found things fine.
Staff are very friendly so no complaints there; poor management though.
Most of the week is very good...but avoid Sunday, after lunchtime!

Stayed last night and as usual a lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plenty of choice. Receptionist and kitchen staff very friendly which is always nice.
Only one bath towel in the room and only one tea bag? Why? When there’s two of you. Couldn’t use the shower as the bath is too deep to climb into.
Had a great Bell burger and beer was lovely. Due to change hands soon. Will see what happens, but for good pub grub and cool real ales you can't go wrong.
Friendly local pub which is happy to welcome my dog as well as me!
Called in for a quick lunch and enjoyed a delicious seafood linguini from the Specials board.
Sat outside in the sunshine and could almost imagine I was on holiday.
Good to see such great food back on the menu.
If you want to visit I suggest you find out when Rosie will not be there, she has trouble getting staff so that may be difficult. They don'y do food so ignore comments on food
