One of the worst buffets I've been to. The food layout was weird (sushi and bread pudding next to each other?!) There was very little variety. Many empty tables but had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be free?! Will not be back

Really good food this lunch time £9.50 and there was lots of variety left even though we got there at 2 and finishes at 3 desserts were also good.

Popped here for the buffet lunch with some of the family. The food was very good, with plenty of selection. Lunch is considerably cheaper than the evening sitting. The seats looked like they should be well padded but when you sat down you just feel the hard seat beneath the cushion. We were lucky enough to be on a table that was not in one of the aisles where people are constantly walking past to collect their food. I wouldn't have enjoyed being on one of those.

I've visited Songs since it opened, many a time. But the working lunch today was pretty horrific. I say this with honesty and sadness as I will not be going back. I appreciate that it is Easter Holidays and children are off school, but I don't really appreciate children putting their hands in all the food and taking bits and pieces and putting food back!! Whilst the mum's are scoffing their chops, chatting to mates and allowing their children to do as they please. The place was absolutely packed and half the food wasn't in situ and what was left was cold and non existent. The place had business lunch people, families with kids, couples, elderly, large families for birthdays. The entire place was packed like an 80' s nightclub. You walked in to each other, no etiquette. Never again !!!! It's a massive NO for me. Spoons in Ipswich is my go to. Visited throughout the year and never had any issues. Today at Songs, was GREED BEFORE NEED You don't put working people with kids, running around, while lazy mum's stuff themselves silly.

Very disappointed since they kicked us after being there for 2 hours. I could not even have time to try a second dish. The price of the drink is almost 3.50£ and paid 20£ to be there only two hours. Absolutely a joke. And the manager came to the table and he was very rude with us. Even though we said that we were waiting for people to come in they charged them!! And they did not care since the reservation was made at a time on concrete. So why then did you not mention before charging them!!!. That is absolutely a thief and waste of time.

We have been coming here for the past few years and have always enjoyed it but unfortunately tonight we were disappointed, the service from two young girls was quite bad who were clearing tables, and my husband literally just picked up his last bit of food on his fork and the girl came along and whipped his plate up so fast then took it away, whoa hang on there lady, nothing was being replenished so quite a few empty pots about, I asked 3 times for the eaten mess to be replaced and was told it would be, I waited 20 minutes and it was not replenished, gave up in the end and left. It's such a shame as we travel from Colchester and it used to be so good so doubt we be back unfortunately. Staff need training on how to clear a table.

A lovely all you can eat that has foods from all over the world! Would highly recommend if you are looking for an all you can eat buffet!

We visited Song’s for my mother’s birthday and it was a lovely experience. Great buffet with a wide variety of dishes, providing plenty of options to choose from. Despite being extremely busy during our visit, the waiters provided a lovely service. The food was good and offered a refreshing change from the buffets we're accustomed to. They even surprised my mum with a birthday card which was unexpected. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience worth trying.

Good value for money. Evening food selection seems superior however it's better to stuff your face at lunch.

This place is great. Indian, Chinese, pizza, kebab. Best variety of dishes at any multi cuisine buffet

Yo I’m going to be completely honest I’m just a kid so what do I know I’ve been here loads of times before throught intact I’m even ill today and im still going there’s just something about the vanilla rolls there is it too good in fact there’s something about all the food here it’s just too good and every time I come i eat too much I also feel way to sick throught and after i eat I always need the bathroom I got a medical condition and well I’m not proud to say that part but the songs bathrooms are always and I mean always so clean and the staff don’t get me started on the staff there too nice!

Plenty of choice Great value for moneyThey give you a 2-hour window But you Really need longer than that and all you can eat restaurants It is wheelchair accessibleBut on this particular night the lift was broken My advice to you is phone up before booking if you have somebody with wheelchair or difficulty getting upstairs

Food left out too long but when it's fresh it's really nice. I always try to be there close to opening for the freshest food.

Good place to go for lunch/dinner with family. Plenty of choice, reasonable price, friendly and warm environment. Good wheelchair facility. Overall 10/10.

It was our 24th wedding anniversary.and we wanted to have a nice meal ( which we did) but we had only recovered from covid just after the new year.but I still haven't got my sense of taste back yet. But what I did eat was nice.

We went yesterday for my sons birthday and i can say we were all stuffed after. Although there was choice, there were some items not there which i was expecting (seaweed, pork buns and chicken wings) Some of the food was not piping hot but was probably to be expected. -Some of the indian sauces seemed very watery. Dirty Plates were cleared from our table promptly by staff. Will return again For £19 pp all in all was good.

I celebrated my birthday at Songs Buffet last Saturday early evening with 27 family and friends. The food choice is really good..something for everyone…vegetarians and vegans were all happy too :-) The food tasted great, the staff were excellent and looked after us superbly, and the price was reasonable. We will definitely return soon.

Best buffet in Chelmsford by far

After searching for a food buffet service I stumbled upon Songs. We booked a table - the website was easy to navigate. Bringing our 1 year old & 4 year old we found there was plenty of choice for them aswell. My son (1) particularly loved the banana custard! & my daughter was excited for the prawn toast & chocolate fountain. There was Hot tasty food, clean tidy dining area & plenty of choice! Excellent customer service & kind helpful staff

Food is alright but is quite expensive for what you get. Make sure you book if going at a weekend.

We were really disappointed :( Had heard people rave about this place so came at 12pm for a lunch with 3 fussy children. Half the things we thought we would get, weren’t even open! No chocolate fountain, No dim sum, no steak, no kebabs etc. literally just chinese. Very unhappy and rethinking booking for a birthday in 3 weeks!

Not quite what I expected. It was much better! Lots of lovely dishes, beautifully cooked and presented. Had plenty to eat but left room for dessert. Can't wait to go back

Booked a Table —but had to Queue 20 -30 people were In front of us —Then had to pay before eating at the Counter —Food Was so very Poor I was looking forward to a good Chinese Curry —no could not find it .you could get. Steak cooked went over and the grill chef had the steak and sea food cooking together he had no catering hat on and learning over the food cooking 🤮 you should not use the same cooking utensils you push the fish and steak around on the grill .he had a curly perm waving all over the food . All the pots of food are not clearing marked stating what’s in them —it’s such a miss mash of food . The Cutlery is like a school canteen all scratched and worn -There is no restaurant feel to this place what so ever . please please be Carefull if you have allergies . We stick to Witherspoons next time or Toby or hungry horse —-They take your money upfront in case a piss head does a runner but that’s not a good vibe or maybe where the food is well below Average —imagine the cheapest value meals from a supermarket in the frozen section ie sweet n sour noodles chips onions rings even had budget fishfingers all dried out , not with £20 a head in the evening. —maybe luchtime a £6-£7 a head . But me personally I’d rather have a bag of chips from a good chip shop —the food was tasteless.

We always go there with friends and family. It is very reasonable priced and the food is amazing. I like the buffet as you can go as many times as you want and you can go for different dishes.

Avoid if you have allergies. They said they do Gluten Free but it’s all cross contaminated which defeats the purpose… Disappointed as I was really excited!

Me, my husband and children came here, we were early for our booking but were seated straight away, The food was great and there was plenty of choice, the Chinese food was amazing and the children enjoyed the sweets and chocolate fountain. Refill soft drinks and buffet are reasonably priced. All in all a good meal for us all.

My first time eating here. £9.50 for a buffet lunch is great value. There is a huge selection of food including starters and deserts. A few items were unavailable or not replenished- maybe fullest selection is for peak times. Efficiently run, nice staff and tranquil atmosphere despite it being a large place. Drinks are very reasonable price. I'll be back.

Really disappointed on my last visit. I frequently go to this buffet, but yesterday I don't think it was right! We get there an hour before closing time, we asked if still ok for dinner and they told us that it was absolutely fine to go in for dinner. We pay full amount (£59.9). Our surprise was when we go to get some food, almost no food to take, when I as for sushi, dumplings or any meat, they told me that is not available because it's late. Similar with dessert... I do understand that maybe it's late, but someone should told me that before I paid. If you change me full price, I expect to have a full service! Really bad!

Great food, all you can eat chinese buffet, noodles, fried rice, chips, nuggets, spring rolls, samosas, bombay potato, curries, pancakes, salads, vegetables, soup, sushi, fresh fruit, chocolate fountain, sweets and ice creams. Staff are polite and clear tables quite quickly Only gripe is drinks are a bit dearer. I go here regularly and see lot of times people without drinks on their tables.

Last review I mentioned that the chicken masalla had an overpowering lemongrass taste, this time it was spot on. Thanks Songs, great evening

A very good selection of buffet food. One negative that spoils it, is that children touch food, especially the chocolate fountain with their hands, it should be placed high, away from them, then everyone would could use it.

I had terrible experience in this restaurant. The staffs are very rude and behave like they pay you for the food we eat🙄. I had a family booking for three people at 2:30 PM. Unfortunately I could reach there only by 2:34PM. They refused to let me in even though I had a prior booking for the reason of four minutes delay. Very rude staff and unpleasant experience. I will never step into this restaurant again. Would recommend for the people only who can tolerate such disrespectful behavior. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I'm not even joking, the food is amazing here. So many cultures (mainly Asian) and a lot of delicious cuisines i have loved eating here. Me and my family come here for almost every celebration. Song's; you have earned these five stars :)

Not what it used to be , the food is not well cooked and seems like it’s old , nothing seems fresh , really needs new chefs as it’s really subpar food, such a shame, as could really be turned round by getting rid of the awful Indian food, loose the kebab stand, focus on marking the Chinese food great and fresh, loose the awful cooks otherwise this place is Finished

Went to songs on Monday 18th It was amazing as soon as we walked on 2 lovely girls at the front desk greeted us and was so nice ,the food was so nice will be coming back

Very busy and noisy, with everyone walking around with food plates, you have to keep your wits about you. The food is OK, there is plenty of choice, however it's not as nice as restaurant food as it's kept warm and has a lid. I went for a family birthday, and I can't say I would choose to come back.

I visited the Songs Buffet today for lunch. It was amazing value for money. The food was very tasty 😋. The staff is very polite. So many options to choose from. Very impressed. Well worth a visit 👌

I had a party for 20 people there. It was lovely and was a lot of food to choose from. The quality was really good except ice cream. I wish they step up the game on this one thing. Recommended 🥇

Beware if you are in a wheelchair ♿️ do not take for granted that the lift works call them on the day .food ok on a Friday lunchtime but nothing special

Atmosphere in the restaurant seems nice, it's well decorated. We were sat at a table for 4 even though we were a party of 5 so it was very cramped, especially considering the restaurant was very quiet. Another member of staff eventually offered us an extra chair though & it was highly appreciated. The variety of food was surprisingly disappointing. It felt as though a few options were missing like seaweed & calamari etc. A lot of the foot was soggy due to the way it was kept, especially the chips, which tasted as though they were full of water. Prawn toast was very hard & overly oily, the rainbow squid tasted very fishy & the texture was just odd & off putting. Even the jelly tasted more like water than fruit! Some deserts were nice but I tend to come for the savory options so i was left feeling artificially full and disappointed. Plates piled up very fast on our table & weren't cleared until the end of our meal which also made us quite uncomfortable. It seemed as though staff were more interested in getting the restaurant ready to close by hoovering rather than clearing tables where guests were still sitting. I believe there was still at least an hour until closing at this point. It's a shame really, used to be much better when it first opened initially, food had more variety & seemed far fresher. 100% gone downhill, I'd much prefer to order in a chinese & stay at home next time.

We arrived at 2.50pm, so first up for the late afternoon/evening sitting. As we walked in, you are at the bottom of a flight of stairs (also a broken disabled lift). The stairs are dirty, not just a little dusty, but dirty. We looked past this at first. At the top of the stairs and after a short hall, a stroppy greeter informed us that as we have a 3pm booking, we are expected to be out the door by 5pm. OK, 2 hours would be enough, but ‘expected’? Sorry if we are an inconvenience of being in an empty buffet. As you get in, you are expected to pay before you are seated. Not a normal practice in anywhere else we eat, except takeaways. This is a second off-putting thing that stroppy greeter said. We pay as we are here now. We are shown to the table, which is adequate for the purpose. Looking at the drinks' menu, we note that the non-diet soft drinks are not part of the bottomless drinks' selection. Only diet. So I order a coke from the bar, given a warm glass which I ask for a cold glass and am given a glass that is just as warm as the 1st. Quite a poor show up to this point, but the food should be OK. WRONG. Congealed, cold, straight out of the bag, not prepared on premises. Prawn toast has since been used by the military as bullet proofing, wring it out for an oil change. Far to much salt, an attempt to cover up the poor quality by putting chilli sauce on it. Puddings included an apple crumble & custard, again cold. For the money paid, this should have been far better. My party & myself are not going back. Keep the money, I’ll vote with my feet. Now I wait for the response along the lines of ‘We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience, and will look into it’, and they won’t. They have your money before you are seated.

Great the oriental buffet is amazing

Food was nice, a little cold. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Compare with UK, foods is fine, but I just back from France and compare with France Chinese buffet - Lack of variety and poor quality (ice cream, nuggets, meat balls, shredded crispy duck looks like leftovers, spare ribs overcooked, sushi rice looks like sticky rice, and etc.)

A wonderful place to meet family and friends. Great mood lighting. A very comfortable atmosphere. Always a fantastic choice of food.

I took my family here quite often but after what I witnessed today made me instantly feel sick I was waiting to use the toilet with my son when a member of staff came out of the cubicle and I went in to find piss all over the seat and he didn't wash his hands as I went to have a word he walked straight in to the kitchen I approached Mr song and he just shrugged it off I will not be going back and I strongly suggest u avoid this place

Always have a fab time, love going on a Sunday, always a great varied choice, the food turned over quickly when running low , staff are very pleasant and helpful, also the lovely bartender, massive shoutout to him, always polite and makes a lush rum and coke , also cocktails, love it ❤️ Obviously lunch time menu is half the price , but still plenty of choice , but I prefer evening as the fresh food cook is also available, but still plenty to choose from 😀

Been there lots of times, never had bad food, always plenty to pick from always hot and great service. So good we are going on Wednesday evening, table booked for 9 people.

The only reason for the rating is service. This is the second time they haven't accepted my family inside. And they said they won't accept any customer after 2.30 and Google says the closing time is 3pm. And They don't responce to the phone calls and when we hit the restaurant it is said that they have customers to handle. It is reqlly disrespectful and disgusting when its hungry and getting no admittance and rude behaviour.

What a fantastic place! All you can eat pan-asian cuisine. Chinese, Indian, Japanese We paid £39 for two, drinks you purchase separately at the bar. Drinks are very reasonably priced The food is delicious, plenty of choice, also some chicken nuggets and things if you have a picky eater in your party Strongly recommend this place if you are hungry!

At Song's Buffet we paid 30 pounds each to experience a buffet that had my wallet saying "Kung Pao!" For that price, I half-expected to see a live dragon show or at least some magical fortune cookies. I've had more flavorful noodles from the corner store. The service was the star of the show, though. They were quicker than ninjas and just as mysterious. But the plot twist? They charged my daughter full price because she's as tall as a bamboo shoot. She might be tall, but she eats like a sparrow. That's a pricy sparrow meal. I tried to argue, but apparently, "height discrimination" is a thing at buffets.

Awful awful food, all cold. The plates are roasting hot though, maybe they expect the plates to reheat the food for the 3rd time. It's cheap for a reason. You couldn't pay me to go back. Deserts had a more varied range unlike the buffet

Took my children here. Witnessed a child bite the ribs and place it back. Not much option- very dried out chicken, tasted recooked- all the food felt it had been out for hours. Everything was tough and dry. The ladies toilets were like an ice rink of water and oil from the restaurant floor and the hand dryers not working. Saw a child dip his fingers in the chocolate fountain a couple of times and lick them. No counters are manned which I think would help with hygiene- all children and myself with upset tummys once home. Last time we eat here.
