The best restaurants in Chelmsford East of England

Awesome chicken. Great flavours. Love the Cajun chips. More so than the wingstop fries which are slightly sweet. Good value for money and you will be leaving full up if you take the meal with 3 different flavours and types of chicken. One of my new favourite restaurants.

Sindy's is a totally unique little shop doing amazing fresh sandwiches. They're ridiculously good value for money too. Fresh bread smells amazing.

Only been once for breakfast and I must say it was lovely. Full English breakfast with a nice cup of tea. I could have had a beer, but I was off the races. Place is lovely and the staff were really friendly. I’ll definitely be going back at some point.

As a customer that was always in shwings when they had a restaurant on new london rd, I’m so so so disappointed on the new location, service, and the standard of food. Me and my partner decided to have shwings because we hadnt had it since they shut the restaurant, we was very let down by the whole experience and definitely wont be returning which is really annoying as we enjoyed it so much at the restaurant. The food was served on paper plates/bowls, we got given wooden forks, and the quality of the food wasnt up to the standards we’ve previously experienced with shwings. The location is not great either as its a bar/club and frequently visted by the homeless which makes an unpleasant atmosphere while eating. This used to be a restaurant you could take the family or be with friends and would have a lovely meal, great experience every single time. Now I definitely wouldn’t recommend for anyone with children or even a meal with friends. Overall a very disappointing experience and so sad.

Such a shame, this pub used to be the perfect blend of country charm, eclectic atmosphere and buzz. Now it is a sorry reflection of its former self. The whole place has been redesigned nicely, not that it particularly needed it and the menu matches its sister restaurant in Little Waltham which has always been steady, however this place is consistently poor. I have returned twice in the hope that they might get it right after some early teething problems , but if anything it has gotten worse. At first the food seemed to be ok but the service dreadfully slow, staff standing about, hardly busy, yet plates remain on tables for 20 mins, drinks orders forgotten, our first meal took nearly 3 hours to complete. Today the pub was almost empty, food on the floors from previous sittings and almost zero attention from the staff. Such a shame as it is in a fabulous location, the positive reviews are either for the original owners or faked by the new. Go to one of the pubs in Stock instead! __________________________________ Follow up: had an email offering me £20 as an apology. I have said it is not about money and I have had 3 poor experiences there now. Said I would return when they had confirmed things have been improved and have not heard back 🤷🏼

Afternoon tea was lovely, great food, service and value for money. The staff were lovely and catered well to our requests, overall a lovely experience and I look forward to going back!

So we were out as a family and wanted to find a dog friendly place and we found bookmaker.This place was amazing, Mia and Emily N were very helpful and were attentive without being intrusive. The food was hot and tasted amazing i can highly recommend the keiv fries tasty. Next time we are in Chelmsford we will be back

Mixed platter starter was excellent, but mains (chicken kebabs) were very average. Service was random, attentive one minute but unable to get anyones attention to order more drinks with the meal. However the biggest ‘take away’ was the rounding up of our bill, despite our more than adequate tip. A mixed meze to share and 2x basic chicken kebabs, plus an Aperol Spritz, a soft drink, 2x coffees and tap water was rounded up - without asking - to £100. We won’t be rushing back!

Excellent Turkish restaurant. Really enjoyed the food and service here. Hope to come again soon

Was starving on our way back from our day trip. Stumbled on the globe pub. Was so pleased they were serving food at home 4pm on a Sunday. A roast dinner and pudding was £14.99. I didn't expect much at that price! Well it was really really tasty. Would most definatley recommend.

We happened up on El Chigre Tapas Restaurant in Chelmsford, a) because we love good authentic tapas, b) didn’t want a heavy meal and c) we’re a bit bored with central cities being dominated by soulless chains. El Chigre is a one-off, family owned traditional Spanish tapas bar. The family hails from Asturias in the north of Spain and the cooking tells that story. Simple, elegant and delicious tapas. We ordered cod-loin stuffed roasted red peppers, fried aubergine fingers drizzled with honey, hand made ham croquetas, gambas cooked in garlic, calamares with aioli and sliced chorizo cooked in white wine. It was all rich in flavour, authentic, and simply delicious. Washed down with a white Rioja, this was a treat. They’ve been here a number of years but we’re thrilled to have found them. If you give them a few days notice, they’ll even prepare traditional suckling pig, garlic roasted lamb shoulder and other traditional dishes. Having sampled the tapas as a measure of the restaurant, next time we’ll try their paella and see how that measures up. Excellent food, reasonably priced, great family service. Muy bien.

Authentic traditional Chinese restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere. Staff were on hand but did not disturb. No rush. We were in there for 2 hours. Food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Had a lovely chat with Tak and Lin who served our table. First time there but very happy to have found such a lovely Chinese restaurant. Will return for sure. Thank you!

Ordered at 11-11:30 for a delivery on the app where both the app and website stated they were open and when I placed my order on the app it stated that I was able to order for a delivery still than collecting but never arrived piss take sort it out 😂

Most of the food was inedible, really disappointed as I usually always order from here! The spring rolls smelt rotten, the crispy beef had about four pieces of beef in it, the chicken balls was salty and the squid was even saltire! Poor!

Always a good service. Friendly staff, good food. Always a smile and great advice . Cumberland sausage and mash great . Pie fantastic, trio of chicken lovely
