Had an absolutely gorgeous meal here tonight with some friends. Very attentive but not pushy service. Food was fantastic and hot (temp), the menu gives a great description of the food, flavour and spice and the portion sizes are very generous. Overall we were very impressed. Will definitely visit again.

Our first visit to the Spice Lounge coincided with it being their Wednesday Banquet Night. The menu for the occasion was restricted when compared to their main menu but it offered quite a degree of choice which was enhanced by flexibility which allowed choosing between sides or rice. Nominally the menu is divided into sections: Starters; Mains, Sides and Rice. If a rice dish is not wanted, two sides can be selected. For us it worked very well and we were delighted with the food, it was very good, as was the service. The price can only be described as very reasonable and the atmosphere was fine too, the score given because I could still remember my last visit there - when it was still a pub, The Carpenters Arms. Such are the things memories are made of. The Spice Lounge is worth a visit!

Food is fresh and delicious. Very tasty vegetable curry and a good selection of vegan / vegetarian options. More reasonably priced and tasty when compared to others that I've tried in the area. Also friendly staff. Overall would definitely recommend.

I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in Chelmsford and surrounding areas, And this is one that cannot be missed. The service is impeccable and personal and the ambience suits either a family meal or a romantic experience for couples also! The food is consistently of fantastic quality and very reasonably priced, I highly recommend the tandoori mixed grill or the lamb berkhani! The parking is great and it’s easily accessible for those with pushchairs for babies and those with walking or mobility aids. My family and I will always be returning here for the service with a smile, the beautiful food and a brilliant dinning experience all around, I couldn’t recommend spice lounge more!

Recommend to every Person who wish to taste pure indian cuisine in Chelmsford.We were there for 31st December dinner and it was such a nice treat. We ordered chicken vindaloo, Chicken handi , plain Nan, Pilav rice and each of these was not only nicely cooked but also very tasty. Nan was freshly hand made and sumptuous. Pilav rice was very delicate and delicious. Along with these the service was really quick, polite and caring. Thumbs up to whole team!!

The food is delicious, generous portions of freshly made curry using quality ingredients. Very freindly staff and well priced. Good website for ordering a takeaway which are timely for collections.

Food was barely warm. Not something you expect from somewhere that is only 400 metres away. The "free" popadom was just crumbs and stale.

First time we visited and it definitely did not disappoint - very welcoming, nice relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff who went above and beyond and amazing food! We had a lovely time and left feeling very happy! Thank you so much, we wil definitely be back 😊

This is now my go to Indian for takeaway and eat in.. The food is very good and they have good take away deals. If you are able to eat in, it has a very good atmosphere and the staff make you feel at home.

Cannot fault Spice Lounge at all - delicious food and friendly service! Their Wednesday and Sunday specials are incredibly good value for money - £15 for starter, main, and two sides! Miah and his team always makes us feel very welcome, would 100% recommend!

I’m not sure what’s going on with the quality of the rice but they are definitely not giving their customers pilau rice. It is long grain rice and it’s very dry and very bitty. I know the difference. Please rectify this if we are paying for pillow rice we should get pilau rice, thank you.

Please, guys, make your chapatis a bit better. I love your food, and you guys are so lovely. But please, I have had chapatis elsewhere and at a friend's house, where they have been a lot nicer. Can you not look into that and check if you are doing them as nice as they can be made? Please change something about them to make them like other places. Can you look into it, please?

Lovely Indian that we tend to dine in about once a month. Great selection of food and everything we have tried is delicious. My favourite is the Nawabi, followed closely by the Burhkini and Lamb Shank. Service is generally excellent, however last night we were served by a waiter new to us - who seemed unable to wear his trousers correctly (despite other diners and at least one colleague commenting on it) and he got our order wrong - which was quickly and professionally rectified by one of the regular more reliable waiters. We will definitely continue to return and just try to be served by one of the more professional staff members.

Delivery Driver was very polite and friendly unfortunately they got my order wrong first time ever. I always order coconut rice they sent plain rice.:(

Food very good and reasonable prices compared to some other Indian restaurants that are now way to expensive. One thing I may add is the advertising of the Sunday buffet is a bit of a con . Its not a buffet of any kind d . Its a set menu from a very small menu. You don't find this out till you sit down. You should state that its a set menu in your advertising. That said I'd go back no problem.

Very fast delivery. Lovely delivery driver! Unfortunately the food was disappointing. Completely tasteless. Was basically a container of chopped tomatoes and slightly dry chicken. Onion bahjees were hard and overcooked. Think the food is quite expensive for what it is too… £2.28 for a chapati (aren’t they just flour and water?!) they didn’t even taste homemade!

Visited on a Wednesday evening & was pleasantly surprised by the banquet menu options. Food was delicious, well presented & large portions. Service was absolutely brilliant - they even have buzzers on the table to request service! Really lovely experience and will definitely be returning again.

We have been coming here every Sunday for months, the food is fantastic and the service is so attentive. Couldn't recommend here enough for a lovely meal out.

Big improvement from my last visit when they had lost the drinks licence and we had to pop across to Texaco to get our own alcohol.

The best takeaway I've had in this area by far. The food was ready and piping got when they said it would be. A good selection of well cooked vegetarian and meat dishes, the chilli paneer was particularly amazing. The restaurant was busy at 7pm which can only be a good sign.

Rice was not pilau rice but long grain rice so was a bit disappointed as I paid for pilau rice!

Can’t praise this place enough! We went last night for a family meal and from the moment we arrived we were looked after. I had my elderly grandad with me who the waiters helped to seat and were so lovely. We could not fault the food and the ammount you get for the price is actually unbelievable. We ended up having to take most of it home! The restaurant is clean and has a lovely feel to it. Everything feels high end and it appears money has been spent to open this place to a high standard. The staff were so friendly and one was dancing to the music which we loved to see. It was infectious to see someone so happy. We will definitely return and I will be telling everyone about this place!

The food was really really nice. We went on a Wednesday when they had a special offer on and you got so much food for your money - I was amazed. Run by lovely people who are very attentive.

We ordered a takeaway for 12 people to celebrate a special family occasion. The team at Spice Lounge looked after us so well. The food and service exceeded our expectations and we had an amazing, delicious meal. We will definitely be visiting them again!

Driver was very polite food was great as always haven’t ordered for awhile portions have definitely got smaller chicken Jalfrezi, definitely chicken chunks there was less of them and hardly any sauce but still very tasty.

I regularly get a take-away from here as the food is so good. Last night I decided to dine in for date night with my husband. Our experience did not disappoint! The staff are very friendly, welcoming and attentive and as usual, the food top notch.

1st time there Saturday night, wow so friendly fantastic service and the food was amazing definitely the best in Essex I would say

Spoke to the restaurant after an hour and a half, and was told that the JE driver hadn't been assigned. Waited another half an hour and having called JE and been directed back to the website by a recorded message (just don't bother having a helpline number!), a driver was finally assigned and the food arrived shortly after. The restaurant are local to me and are always spot on and the driver was quick once assigned. The problem here is your booking system at JE. I also now know that my order would have been nearly 25% cheaper if ordered directly with the restaurant. For a mark-up like that you need to be providing a better service.

Very good takeaway, all the chicken was tender and the 3 different curries were nicely flavoured.

I'm going to say just this...if you haven't had the tikka jalfrezi yet, make it your next purchase! A taste sensation that you wont forget! I had the chicken one and paired it with the Keema rice which was delicious as well. You have to try this folks, and I promise you wont regret it. It's quite spicy, but the flavour hit was out of this world!! Do it now! :) My girlfriend had the prawn madras and said it was one of the best she's ever had, and she would know, Indian heritage! You cannot go wrong ordering from Spice Lounge, my fave restaurant and takeaway!! :)

Ordered food at 22:07 on Wednesday evening. The restaurant accepted my order and then they closed at 22:30. My food was supposed to come at 22:30. All this time it said it’s being prepared. Guess what time my food arrived? At midnight! 2 hours after making an order. Absolutely disgusting attitude of the driver as well. He acted like nothing has happened. I was waiting hungry like an idiot for 2 hours. It’s a joke of a restaurant and I will never order anything from you

The driver was so rude, rang my bell and dumped my food on the floor and walked away to his car that he didn’t even park outside my house. I’m not sure I will be ordering from here again. Very disappointing and disgusting

Food was great but a couple of items were missing

It's a scam. Food is tasty no doubt. But in breads section. Chapati is not actually a chapati it's a tortilla that we get from tesco at 1.95£. And they se/l tortilla in the name of chapati for almost 3£(rounding off). I thought one time is okay but usually they don't make chapati they just fry the tortilla and give to the customers. That's is so disappointing when it's a Indian restaurant
