The Globe in Chelmsford

Went in on the off chance that we could get a roast. Was not disappointed. 2 pints Stella only £9.60. Husband had roast turkey and I had the. Pie. Brilliant. Ended up bringing some home.

Came here for a darts match very limited seating and was crowded

I recently visited The Globe for the MacMillan charity event with my family. I was greeted by Melissa who was very welcoming, we ordered our food and drinks at the bar and was served by very polite and helpful staff, the food was beautiful and everything was cooked perfectly, the chef was very professional and the hygiene was 10/10. I couldn’t have had a better experience and I would highly recommend visiting this pub. Melissa, Steve and all the stuff are very accommodating and customer service was 10/10. the atmosphere of this pub is possibly the worst in chelmsford. The owners melissa and steve as i was told by a staff member that was their names are the most unwelcoming people when they want to be, the staff members are rude and not welcoming at all the only one who was nice and caring was a young lady i believed was called coleen. The way customers are treated in here is diabolical for a business not professional at all the chef is unhygienic as i was watching him prepare food for other customers the lack of cleanliness is unbelievable also very rude when he appeared out of the kitchen personality would not ever eat from here again. many of my acquaintances have said the same about the staff and the atmosphere and the environment is unprofessional at all standards many regulars will not be returning myself and family included . Often see the landlady and the staff members intoxicated THIS PUB DOES NOT DESERVE THE CREDIT IT IS BEING GIVEN!!!!!!!!

We came on the off chance as was in the area. We wanted to order food. We wasn’t shown to a table, just told to sit anywhere. We were given two sticky menus, that put me off a bit. There was a young girl cleaning the table behind us. No acknowledgement at all or offer of drinks. Then we waited & waited. After 10 mins I went in search or someone who informed me we’d have to order our own food at the bar as she was on her own. We wasn’t informed this when we went in. We decided at this point to leave and go elsewhere. Shocking service for a Saturday lunchtime. We won’t be returning.

The pub was decorated ok in the restaurant but my god the gents toilet was just that. Food was just typical cheap pub grub.

Come to the globe for the football most weekends and whenever my team is playing, and every time I go the staff are welcoming, and very attentive. Regulars in there are very nice and can always enjoy my visit. Steve and his wife have made the pub very enjoyable and safe for families, the bar staff, even Gemma, despite her poor banter, are brilliant. Love it here and excited to always go

Brilliant and well decorated venue. Upon entry you are welcomed very warmly and the staff are friendly - a credit to the business. The owners make an effort to ensure guests are treated like family. food is excellent, great value for money on drinks. Live music and events on often and atmosphere is great. The charity work Melissa/Steve and the team is amazing for Macmillan cancer support and other well deserving charities! Seeing a negative review on here doesn't really reflect the business and seems like competition or spite for punishment on someone's poor behaviour. This is a great family and dog friendly pub! Thank you for having us guys. You've been great!

Fantastic Pub, went for food with a few friends and it happened to be an event evening with Chelmsford City Soul so we stayed for the whole evening. What a brilliant night the atmosphere was great, the food we had earlier on in the evening was 10/10 and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be back again.

So, new work collegues advised me the globe was near the rougher end of town. So, I went into town as a solo business person... ordered some drinks and had NO interaction from anyone for 2 hours. Stopped at the globe for a quick one and had great banter with Gemma, who just ooozed friendliness. I will be returning to the globe.. ordinary people.

Great pub...friendly staff..friendly customers and great food..the entertainment is planned and well executed...dog friendly...Robbie says he loves it...proper family pub with a lit to offer and near admirals park if you need refreshment after a nice dog walk.

A pub for all seasons and company. Having had meals alone, or with family and friends, the 'country' pub atmosphere is priceless. Food is excellent with good menu and atmosphere to give homely and holiday feel. Steve and Melissa are lovely people and professional publicans. All reflected in the cuisine and service. Love it!

An average pub I can’t recommend if you’re expecting them to cater for a family with young children. If you’re looking for a place to watch sports, have teenagers, or just want to have a drink at a “local” this place would be an easy 4 stars on a good day (loses a star for average food- the starters are very good but the mains let it down unfortunately). I will give kudos to the pub for being willing to redeem themselves when I first rated this place 2 stars (after a bad experience) but can’t score it higher than a 3 in our particular instance. By all means come here if you want to watch sports with a beer garden and play snooker, darts or slots, but if you have a young family there are better options in the vicinity

I do the pub quiz there every other Thursday, great atmosphere, friendly, I have the burger and chips with onion rings which is very yummy mmm.....love it, with a pint of lager shandy,I look forward to the next pub quiz,the biker's on table 4 😀

Was a nice pub. Seen it had been taken over by new landlord and lady. They had signs up basically saying the pub had trouble in the past with drugs and wanted all that out. This is a positive. However there were lads in there that clearly can't read or don't get the msg. Good clean pint. Perhaps getting rid of the pool table might help people move on. Pub and toilets great good service showed the football lots of screens. Just the lads all round the pool table put me off a bit.

Went for a boys’ night out with my son. Very friendly service, good and reasonable food, a couple of nice pints and a good game of darts and pool. Who could ask for more?

If you are cost conscious it's value for money probably but I found my grill wasn't particularly nice (only nice part was the sausages and chips)... Staff was friendly but chicken was a little chewy gammon was tough and steak was okayish.... I know I'm being picky but that's just me and for the price paid it was okayish

Popped in for lunch Four small dishes and two pints of soft drink for £20 - great value for money. Food was great overall. Garlic bread a bit chewy but that doesn't detract from how good the rest was. Hot honey means hot flavour with a kick, not hot as in warm, just fyi! Chicken tacos were just perfect.

We arrived and was greeted very quickly, we asked for a table to play dungeons and dragons and were accommodated and the food and drinks were good and well priced, we were even offered another table for when the table we was at was needed for something else.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff and fantastic food all at really good prices. Good for the family too.

Some great live music, food pretty good as well although no vegan cheese at the time and despite saying they would add extra chips instead, didn’t! Don’t forget to provide your car reg at the door, my wife ended up with a fine as we forgot as in a bit of a rush 💸

Nice dog friendly pub, has a good selection of beers, pool table and darts, plus a big outdoor area. Well worth a visit for a pint and some food.

We had a family lunch yesterday, very disappointed to say the least. I was told sorry no turkey so I ordered Roast Sirloin of Beef, served pink ?. When the meal arrived I could not cut into the beef as it was so tough and full of fat. I was expecting slices of Beef, served Pink, as shown in your menu. We were all offered free dessert which the whole family refused, and were then given part refund on our meals. I certainly will not be visiting again.

Went here for a family meal. There was 8 of us and not one of us had a decent meal. 4 meals came out together and had to wait 20 mins plus for the other 4. We had 4 sunday roasts..... The beef was tough, vegetables like mush. Chicken tasted like processed chicken. Thoroughly disappointed with all of the meals. Complained to The manager and she offered free deserts which we all refused. In the end we were all given a 50% refund. Definitely wont be going back. I Would also like to add..... It happened to be a birthday celebration for 2 of us. One of my family had made cup cakes for everyone. So what has us eating cupcakes in your car park got to do with anything! For you information it was not me who mentioned Trip advisor either. I am shocked at your response.

We went for a family meal here after booking online. We were not told we needed to go up to the till to order as they don’t do table service so we were waiting for half hour before our patience ran thin. Our meals came out at different times, half of the group had finished their meal whilst others hadn’t even received it. The food was awful, vegetables were over cooked and just fell apart, chicken was processed, beef was full of gristle and tough as old boots and the burger had no flavour. We definitely won’t be going here again.

This is a brilliant pub! The fish and chips could rival the stuff you get at the seaside. I enjoy the atmosphere that the team have created. I enjoy my visits. Recommended giving it a visit soon. Melissa and Steve are wonderful

This pub has fabulous facilities and after its recent refurbishment the garden is a must visit on a sunny day with a outdoor screen so all your top events can be seen whilst visiting. Pool and darts and great entertainment on the bill regularly and very reasonable prices for drinks. Super friendly staff, the owners have got it spot on here x

Lovely pub. Very friendly staff. Don't forget to put your car reg in or you will be fined but you don't have a time limit as long as your using the pub.

As a shareholder I go to this pub as I get 15% discount but if I had to pay 15% more I would as the staff, management, food and whole atmosphere is 10 out of 10. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. Well done !

So this is without a doubt, the absolute best pub that I’ve ever visited since 1992 when I lived in Watford, I have been in Chelmsford for four years and since Steve and Melissa, Sarah Chris Sadie and Leone took over the pub about a year and a half ago. The place is truly the best family friendly orientated pub in Chelmsford. The best love for live music the best food with the amazing chef. Chris always your friend and smile, always a shoulder to lean on always a face to talk to. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough in my early days as a contractor working away from home. This would’ve been my dream pub . I would love to live with these guys because they are family without blood.

If this is not the best pub in Chelmsford, well i dont know which one is. A wonderful range of drinks that are far too cheap i only wish there was a gratuity option. Food fit for a king and toilets so pristine i would be happy to eat my dinner from. Service is exceptional ive never felt more welcome 🤪

I can honestly say this is the worst food I have ever eaten. If I could leave 0 stars I would. We attended for the Sunday roast. I have never seen vegetables look so over cooked yet so crunchy. The roast potatoes were white and stale the cauliflower cheese was just pure water and the cauliflower was hard and crunchy. The kids pizza wasn’t cooked, the dough was still dough. The corn an a cob looked like it had spent 7 years in Chernobyl. The turkey had the texture of bird flu it was like chewing on rubbery slime, the beef had a perfect ratio of fat to beef, 99% fat, 1% beef. The Yorkshire pudding looked like it had spent 8 weeks in heavy rain in the Yorkshire dales, In comparison whether spoons is like a Michelin star to this. Thankfully the local church has blessed me with holy water and cleared all of my sins away from this horrific ordeal I have experience BUT the j20 was alright. Will not be returning.

Been into the globe today for a roast dinner with my family. We all had beef and chicken duo, and the quality of food and service was outstanding. We will definitely be returning. Fiona Miles.

Had a joint Birthday lunch for 2 of my grandchildren, food was fantastic, lovely and hot and well prepared, service was great, had an added bonus of a live singer, who sang Happy Birthday as our cake was brought to the table. Great day had by all, thank you to all at The Globe 😊

We had a really lovely lunch at the globe last week, both my mum and I were really impressed with the food , it was really tasty - my mum loved the menu for seniors as smaller portions! The new owners have done a really outstanding job with all the renovations here , very beautifully decorated - The owners & bar staff were so friendly & made us feel so welcomed - We will be back! Such a friendly pub, with a great layout. They have a great selection of drinks and a good food menu. They have an outdoor area which has different pods with heating inside. It's family friendly, dog friendly and again overall friendly!

Don't go in here if you are disabled. They won't tell ya about no flashing lights ever coming on. The most they do is say outside an up an coming event of people doing music live played. But they don't state or tell no one that there will be flashing lights with this. They've caused me multiple seizures. They really don't care or think for the disabled community. As they never state to anyone in pub what time flashing lights come on. Most they do is say an up an coming event. But won't tell ya it will cause ya seizures. As they won't say there's flashing lights.

Really good pub, well kept ales, beers etc. Friendly staff, the place is really clean, excellent wheel chair access. We had Sunday lunch which was very good and fantastic value. They also have live music at the weekend. Well done, thanks for a great Sunday lunch, well worth the trip, recommended. 👍

one meal made with stale nacho crisps (not home fried as menu says) and the other with raw microwaved chips and disgusting chicken. was very fair and said take them away and just give my partner a free pint as i couldnt be bothered, we new the risk we took when we saw other plates left. The rude manager ( scruffy man looked like he was regular not a manager) didn't even apologise, even though we was too fair. what a awful place, don't let the new decorations fool you. worst place I have been in months maybe years. bar lady was very nice 👌
