Bill's in Chelmsford

Great service from lovely staff serving good quality food. Really good with the kids too. The service was quick and friendly and the menu expansive. Quality of food was right where it needs to be for this price point. All staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice time.

Had avocado eggs Benedict and it was cold, which made the whole dish horrible. I understand that avocado cannot be cooked but it should be at least room temperature, not fridge-temperature. The muffin was cold instead of warm/hot, and the hollandaise sauce was cold instead of room temperature. Poor cooking. Waitress did put it under the salamander to give some warmth to it but easily the worst Benedict I’ve had. Twice had breakfast at Bill’s now (both savoury dishes) and unimpressed.

I went here on the 30th of October and it was very amazing! The scenery and things was amazing, a nice light up sign spelling “Bill’s” pretty cool! We sat at a table indoors (because i hate eating outdoors, flies roaming the area locking onto food) it was pretty nice, a very cool fan inside spinning slowly, me, my sister and my parents ordered something, i ordered calamari because i love it, it tasted very amazing aswell! i ate a chilli and i had to eat ice to cool it down, not your fault, i just wanted to try how hot it was, it was very hot tho, anyways we had a chat about how cool and amazing this place looked, it was very clean, no dirt, no dust, no dirty spots anywhere, the couch was pretty fancy with the cushions in the corner, very comfy! After a good chat we ordered some dessert, i ordered a triple chocolate brownie ( i dont like chocolate but it was alr i guess ) i ate some of it and kept it in the fridge at home, amazing service, fast food and scenery was amazing, a bit pricey but fair enough. Always one of my favourite places to go for brunch/lunch. Very friendly staff. Good selection of vegetarian options. Particularly loved the Halloumi Shawarma and the Hippie Bowl. Blue light card discount is applicable.

Amazing customer service , the food was amazing , if I’m being really picky the portion size could be a bit bigger. Nonetheless amazing experience with a waiter named Veronica.

My wife and I were out shopping and my wife wanted to buy me a meal, we ended up going halves. The food was great and the service was very customer focused, very friendly and courteous and helpful too. Olivia made us feel welcomed and comfortable. She asked about our allergies and offered assistance, due to my wife's condition with her hands, regarding cutting the food and serving the tea. I would happily recommend Bills to my friend and family.

Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great, but okay, slow service, luke warm food. We ordered some Bills big breakfasts and pancakes. The poached eggs were okay but cold, the sausage was insipid in colour and warm, few potatoes, something which I couldn’t decide was red cabbage or onion? The service was incredibly slow, few staff. Definitely wouldn’t recommend, won’t be back. Too many better alternatives.

While the food at Bills was tasty and reasonably priced, the service unfortunately left a lot to be desired. We experienced a significant delay with our order, which arrived long after our friends had finished their meals. It seems like the kitchen might struggle to keep up when larger groups are dining, and perhaps timing orders better would help ensure everyone receives their food together. Adding to the frustration, the servers seemed more focused on chatting amongst themselves by the till than attending to their customers. We had to repeatedly try to get their attention to request the bill, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Despite the delicious food and reasonable prices, the service issues definitely need improvement. Hopefully, Bills will address these concerns to provide a more efficient and attentive dining experience for all guests.

Had breakfast a couple of times while staying in the area. The food was great and so was the coffee. I had avocado on sourdough and added scrambled eggs, it was delicious. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

A very enjoyable experience. Nice and polite staff. Drinks were a bit too steep but the daughters student discount code made it more comfortable. The food was as it should be no complaints here

Had breakfast here three times this week while visiting Essex. Our Servers, Veronica once, and Katy twice, were AMAZING! Fantastic service, food and environment!

Honestly fed up of trying to give this place benefit of the doubt. Food is always stone-cold and yet served on top of plates hot enough to give you third degree burns- I reckon microwave technicians are at work. They managed to cook my eggs with a hard yolk and yet runny whites, I didn’t even know that was possible. £18 for that and a coffee, naaa you’re alright. Normally the service slightly redeems this restaurant, but this morning was so lack-lustre. The server genuinely didn’t smile once, and came across like she literally couldn’t be a*sed. I quite like a Bill’s, the one in Braintree would score higher in all areas, but this one sucks.

Came here for a bite to eat before going out, staff were very polite and service was good. Small note alcoholic drinks were served like normal three of us ordered cokes as we were driving and we were literally given a can of coke for about 2 quid each it should of really been poured out at the bar and given hut we had to do this??? 4 of us ordered pancakes and buttermilk chicken with bacon however 2 of ours turned up with sweet chilli sauce over the chicken and 2 didn't however the complaint was made by us that had the sweet chilli sauce as that doesn't go very well with pancakes and syrup??? So we were very disappointed and were left scraping it off. Overall it was OK there but I wouldn't be going back again

Very nice location, squid was delicious but service leaves a lot to be desired. There was only couple tables with people and service was very slow/ unorganised. Paying bill was taking ages.. at the end we got up and went to pay at leave.

It could be better if the management took a step back and looked at the quality of food, when dishes are served eg after a wait our appetizers arrived followed shortly by starters before we had finished. A no no in my book. A little check on the service to improve it a bit, subtle touches its not bad just could be better

Good food, reasonable pricing vs portion and quality, but can do with some improvement. Good service (though there is a service charge applied) so i would expect the standard to be very attentive at the very least. Though on our visit the service was slow. All in all recommended.

We went for breakfast on Tuesday and sat outside. The food was lovely, as always, and the service was great, nothing was too much trouble. We were primarily served by Sophie who was friendly and made us extremely welcome, happy to help with questions and recommendations, thank you😊

Our meal was awful. My self and sister had prawn with Avacado. I ate 1 prawn and it stank and was slimey. I sent it back and asked the chef to taste it. He would not taste it. I have never known a chef to have a complaint and not try the food he has served. Do not recommend to any one

Please don't touch the plate. It is really hot. That's true, it was. Shame the food was so cold. Thankfully our waitress Imogen was amazing and a credit to the professionalism of customer service.

Unfortunately the kitchen had a few issues today and we ended up with less than satisfactory food. The 5*’s are for the staff and customer service shown. We quietly raised the issue of our food with Lauren and she very kindly removed it from our bill. We will be back to give them a chance to show us what they’re made of very soon. Thank you Lauren for showing outstanding Customer service in an awkward situation.

We came to Bills for breakfast, the food was somewhat disappointing. However, the experience was great. The manager Laura handled the complaints we had with such professionalism. If it wasn’t for her, I’d probably have written off coming to Bills again, but I will come back for breakfast & give them another chance.

Maddi our server was lovely! They treated our little doggy which was a lovely touch.

I love Bill's for food, especially in the summer. It's one of my favourite places to go whenever it's sunny and we can sit outside. I love the brunch, the eggs benedict are from my favourite dishes there. The reason why I'm leaving a review is because last time I was there the coffee was terrible. It looked like it was from a machine and did not taste good at all. In fact we barely drunk any. I think Bill's should hire a proper barista to do the coffees, as it is a turndown knowing that you can't order coffee with your brunch.

I recently visited Bills and had a pleasant dining experience. The food was good, offering a variety of dishes that were well-prepared and flavorful. While the prices were just okay, not particularly cheap but not overly expensive either, the overall experience was worth it. The highlight of my visit was the amazing service from Maddi. She was attentive, friendly, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Her cheerful demeanor and prompt service made the meal more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Shawarma plate was nice but pretty dry chicken. The garden plate was more fry up but with avocado and antipasti peppers which was a bit odd. Still a nice experience on the water though.

Good food and great service, very friendly

We had a booth, nice and cosy, the service provided at table 33 was exemplary, attentive but not intrusive. Burger was just as I like it and hot, the beer was cold. All in all a very good evening indeed.

Bill's in Chelmsford was the perfect place for our group of 10 friends to meet. Service was brilliant, staff were amazing, food was great. Nothing was too much trouble for Kristof and Henry, who looked after us. This is our 3rd visit... each time its been just right for us.

Went today with a large group (32) to celebrate a birthday and had such a lovely afternoon. It went extremely smoothly considering we were such a large group and nothing was too much trouble for the team who looked after us, special shoutout to Becca. Great food and would definitely go again, thank you for having us! Highly recommend, especially if you need a venue for a larger group.

Great to sit outside in the warmer weather and be treated to great service! Becca was in charge of our table and made sure everything was just tight and as it was my birthday, gave us a ltl treat which was much appreciated Only small groan was that the coffe was slightly bitter but that was readily changed for a latte so that was soon sorted! A rare treat beside the river with all the wildlife - thoroughly recommend!

I have been to Bill's many times and in different locations and have always been happy prior to my most recent visit. I am sad to be writing this poor review. Unfortunately on this occasion the experience was spoilt by my grand daughter's plate of Buttermilk fried chicken and chips. We noticed that she wasn't eating the chicken with as much gusto as usual. She had asked to eat at Bill's as she has had the dish before and said they were the best 'nuggets' that she'd ever eaten. She said they smelled 'funny' and didn't taste nice, (she had eaten two). My daughter tasted one and said it tasted 'fishy'. my husband tasted one and spat it out straight away saying it was off. We told our waiter who called the manager. He went to the kitchen to smell the meal which had been returned and told us it smelled ok. He said he was sorry and that he would take the cost of the meal off of the bill. We didn't think this was enough to compensate for all of our meals being spoilt by the off food and worrying that our Grand daughter would be ill from food poisoning. The manager did give us more money off after negotiating with my husband. The experience felt very uncomfortable as we have never had to send a meal back in a restaurant before. We just wanted a nice meal with our family after an enjoyable morning and certainly weren't after any discounts! Our waiting staff were very efficient and friendly as always but I'm afraid this experience means that we won't be eating there again. I do hope some investigation was made into why the dish/ batch was off. It is worrying to think of other kids being served this meal and the potential for them to be seriously unwell.

Food was watery, cold and not worth the price paid! Avocado was definitely defrosted. They gave us a different because it was out of stock without asking first. Shambles.

We had booked here for a large group for a work dinner. Food all came out hot and fresh! Well organised, all came out together and by name too which was a great touch. Severs were polite and efficient especially Danny!
