Essex’s finest - Properly run bar/club with a good atmosphere. Bit steep but with La Danza in the mix I could completely justify it

during pride month this place has rainbow flags everywhere and we loved it! it’s probably the gayest place in Chelmsford. good vibes, nice music and good drinks. we loved it 💅

The music is ridiculously loud…..yes I know that makes me sound old. I’m not, this place was good for meeting mates for drinks. It’s not a club….here now and it’s dead! Sort it guys and girls

Popped in for a coffee and we were served by Tobi, what a lovely guy. Chatted as he served us and waved as we left. Lovely spot. Will return.

Bailey was very accommodating, helpful and delivered great service. He made me feel at ease and welcome the whole night i was her and helped with any enquires i had, will definitely be back.

Shabby tables and not enough bar staff, this was at 6pm last night! Gave up waiting and went somewhere else. Shocking! Not a patch on what it used to be …

Went here for a drink and was served by a lovely Welsh girl called ffion. She was kind and chatty + she made a great drink recommendation to me! The atmosphere was pretty damn good and the owners dog is adorable also. 10/10

Recently visited the bootmaker and had an exceptional experience. From the food to the staff to the atmosphere everything was 10/10, would really recommend and will be back again!

My friends and I visited The Bootmaker for a spur of the moment lunch and we weren't disappointed! The food was really tasty, the service from Ellie was second to none - nothing was too much bother despite the establishment being busy. I strongly recommend a visit 😄

Place to be on a Saturday! Was served by a lovely welsh girl Ffion, very friendly and poured a perfect pint of Guinness! 10/10 for her!

Wanted to try somewhere so came to the bootmaker. Will definitely be here more often, the staff are so friendly - especially Ellie who we got chatting to at the bar.

Loved it!!! Came across this place on a tik tok review!!! Amazing food super service and loved the decor!! Was suprised on how many dogs were inside as was unaware this was a dog friendly restaurant..but all dogs were so behaved.

This restaurant is one of the favourite pubs I go to when in Chelmsford. The atmosphere is actually amazing and staff are always happy to serve and give amazing customer service! I went in on Monday and got some lovely nibbles which were all so fresh and delicious! We didn’t stop there! We go such lovely deserts and could have kept going. The drinks were served very quickly and the staff always asked if we wanted anything else. I’ll definitely be coming more often !!

Great place on the whole with a great range of draught beers including there own Rivertown pilsner and Red Stripe. Always great service the cocktails are great to and imaginative. The food is a bit limited and not always very good but not terrible, and the cleanliness isn't great especially as a weekend goes on. On the whole a good venue.

I come here every week for Tim's Quiz. The quiz is very entertaining. The food is *sometimes* hit and miss but usually pretty good with lots of sweet or savoury options depending on what you fancy. Environment and Atmosphere is always pretty good unless it's dead, in which case that can't be helped. Weekend it can get pretty busy but that's because it's pretty good.

We just had a drink here so can't comment on the food. The theme is original and the decor creates a good atmosphere. The place was not full and we were able to chat without a problem. Service was good and we didn't have to wait long to be served.

I have visited this lovely place for 10years now . I love to pop in for a glass of wine and a cheeky snack . Usually Monday or Tuesday . Love that dogs are allowed, however I don’t bring mine as it’s my day off 😆. Staff always lovely and I noticed that are always under a watchful eye of all managers . Smiles and love the chicken bacon wrap . Only Cristian is the menu could be less burgers and more of something else . Thank you x

Popped in The Bootmaker for a drink and I drink real ale but none on at the bar, the Server never look at me and started to walk away so decided not to stay. I see now that this place is called a Cocktail Bar, if going to be open during the day, I think they are missing sales, your choice. I wish them every success.

Never been there before !, but a couple in my group said they wanted to go somewhere where they could cocktails so someone recommended this !. I was surprised how lively it was considering how early we visited . Lucky for us non cocktail people they had a couple of bitters on tap !.

0 stars if Google let me. We waited over an hour for food that had been on the hot plate for over 30 minutes. Our complaint was attended to by a member of staff who listened for 10 seconds before ignoring us to serve another customer. We spoke to another member of staff who said ‘we can reheat the burgers if you like’. If I wanted a reheated burger I would have brought a Rustlers from Tescos. One and only chance this place got, never going back.

Seamus' Mojito was a true delight. The balance of lime, mint, and rum was spot-on, offering a refreshing escape in every sip. It was a perfect choice for a hot day, and I'd highly recommend it.

Seamus is the man if you want the perfect Mojito, nothing instant, no syrups and worth the couple of minutes that it takes to make.

Tobi and Shamus are amazing , so friendly and brought a great atmosphere .

Nice venue, atmospheric, but very dimly lit, limited choice of drinks, could be better, far too pretentious for Chelmsford, ok for a one off visit, but not a regular haunt.

Unfortunately this bar does not gave much custom during the day. Last 3 lunchtimes we have been only customers. Last visit the standard of our food was not great. Our wrap was more salad than chicken but this could have been a one off

We had a wonderful night at the bootmaker with a chilled atmosphere and attentive staff. The plentiful vegan options are amazingly delicious, and our international (not vegan) visitor declared it the best meal out he’s had in the UK so far. Daisy at the bar was quick to serve and remembered our order on the second round which is always a nice touch!

I went to the bootmaker today for the first time today & for a Saturday lunchtime it was criminal how quite it was the restaurant is beautiful, the food was amazing value for money & the pretty woman with blue or purple hair ( I am colour blind sorry ) was a absolute sweetheart & she made the hour + bus journey worth it definitely going back

Came in a couple of days ago with my friends and a dog, had such lovely service from everyone, especially from a lady called Molly who was very friendly 😊 good food and drinks too!

A very average and generic boozer, reminds me of a “Spoons”

Nice place to chill out and catch up with friends. Staff were polite and dodnt bug to to leave once you finished your drinks/food!

Great Bar - nice food - especially the Cluck O Cardo Chicken Burger (which is great). Only comment would be that I don’t recommend eating there after 7pm on Fridays or Saturdays as the live music is very loud once it starts.

Worth a visit! Pleasant staff, cosy atmosphere and ample seating. Cocktails were 2 for £12 which is good! Mulled wine and cider tasted absolutely foul, however...

We had an excellent works Christmas do there. The food was well cooked, plentiful and tasty. The staff were great and very attentive. It was quite lively, but that just added to the party atmosphere. The band were good too. Thanks Bootmaker 👍

Popped in for a drink and sat in one of the booths. I've been here plenty of times before and it doesn't disappoint. The bar lady was polite and friendly. The toilets were clean. The music was a nice volume for a afternoon drink and chat. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been.

They have really nice food here with welcoming atmosphere. One of the best pub in Chelmsford City.

Came here with my mum and brother, and the server - Crina - remembered my mum from pre-lockdown, and was incredibly friendly, funny and helpful. Really great service, and the new menu is pretty good too.

Bootmaker is usually one of our stomping grounds but unfortunately we turned up for my boyfriends birthday for a quick drink and got turned away at 19:30. I fully appreciate Covid rules and restrictions however last orders at 19:30... I was a bit stumped! We only wanted a couple as we knew pubs close at 10. It was a shame because we retreated to another bar nearby who were happy to have us and had a buzzing atmosphere whilst following social distancing rules! It’s a shame about Bootmaker, maybe have a sign on the door explaining the time of your last orders. But we won’t be visiting any time soon incase we get turned away again...

We weren't expecting this to be dog friendly from outside and actually stumbled upon it - they were so accommodating and straight away gave us a water bowl and showered our dog with attention and treats! They even sell puppicinos (cream dessert) for dogs! The human food was also very nice and they had a good range on the menu. They are taking covid restrictions seriously too which was comforting.

Being a local to Chelmsford, Bootmaker is my go to bar. Always a good atmosphere and crowd. Never too rowdy but good enough atmosphere to enjoy a fun drink or 5. Decent choice of beers, wine and cocktails. Service is always great. We always get served by Crina on a weekend, who is polite, quick and has great suggestions on drinks, if you’re stuck for choice. Food is tasty, we usually opt for sharing platters but the Caesar salad is tasty and filling. If you’re in Chelmsford i would recommend this place above any of the chain bars.

Excellent food,easily the best restaurant in the area, great service, we have been served by Crina,lovely surroundings. Can't wait for our next visit.

Had a lovely night with my friends, the cocktails are amazing that was made by Charlie!! the staff are really friendly and are readily available to help with anything. Love the atmosphere and the look of the place.

Had a great experience here last night. The bartender Chris made us some off the menu cocktails that were absolutely delicious. Our favourites were the strawberry and raspberry daiquiri and the frozen espresso martinis which I highly recommend to anyone that visits here. He was so attentive and made it a great experience for us. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Had the most loveliest time in the Bootmaker Chelmsford. Had the servers Loren and Kris. I’ve not been out since the pandemic began and I’ve honestly never been so comfy or cared for as I have been with these two wonderful people. It’s the first time out since the lockdown began and I’ve never felt so welcomed or loved as I have been since these two. Felt very safe and Very comfortable. I’m Currently Booking a table for next week as we speak! Massive shout out to Loren and Kris, they are are absolutely wonderful!! I will be personally asking for them to be my servers next week!! In the current situation we are in, I think it is so important To feel Safe and comfortable, and I honestly felt both of those within the bookmaker with loren and Kris looking after us. looking forward to visiting this wonderful establishment soon. A great place for brunch and also Cocktails thanks to the very excellent Charlie ! It is a place we will back to just because of him !

Visited today for lunch with the family and our dog. A nice, interesting menu and our dog was well looked after with water and biscuits. I cannot remember the (excellent) waitress' name but she was from Romania and gave her recommendations for main course and dessert (Harissa lamb and Blackberry and Apple crumble) - both were delicious. A most pleasant experience!
