Came here with my wife for the end of a date night and had pre-booked mini golf and American pool. The staff at the front desk were friendly and explained all We went to get a drink at the upstairs bar first and the bartender made us an aperol spritz by using his fingers and hands to pick up and peel apart fruit, handfuls of ice along with a scoop and when he dropped the ice on the counter he picked it up with his hands and put it in the drink. Nice. Mini golf was okay, 9 holes and maintained to an okay standard and quite fun but it was empty, had it been busier it would have been cramped. Every single table we went by or sat at was filthy, covered in sticky residue from alcohol and were not cleaned the entire time we were there. We then waited for our alloted time for American pool and were told which table was ours before watching the group of young guys there rack, play, re rack, play, and tr rack again. When it first started eating into our time I mentioned it to the staff and they said they'd ask them to go. We then waited again and watched the group re rack and break again so I asked for a refund and said I'd rather just leave. Staff couldn't issue a refund but offered an alternative or a drink instead. After seeing how the drink was made earlier I declined. The staff then went and asked a different table to wrap up as they had gone over their time but they didn't budge, they just lingered and stayed where they were. At this point my wife was fed up and so was I do we just told the staff to forget it and we were going, I explained it was a disappointing first experience for us and I felt they could have done more to help or keep an eye on the tables but I was met with blank stares. The members of staff are all relatively young and I'm sure used to dealing with 18-28 year olds so I'm not surprised, as they're not the age group to care about customer service as much or can shrug it off, I just left feeling like it was a waste of money and I won't return. So yes, we will not return, I have also no doubt the group that refused to budge are now enjoying my paid for hour as the staff refused to refund me. I'll bung an email to a head office or manager to let them know but I feel like it's a shame we left with this experience as others have rated it so highly.

Had an amazing time at Boom Battle Bar Chelmsford! The atmosphere was electric, and there was so much to do – perfect for a fun night out. A big shoutout to Liz, who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. She was so friendly, helpful, and ensured we had the best experience. It’s clear she loves what she does, and it made all the difference. Highly recommend this place – can’t wait to come back!

After seeing a 4.8* rating on here, I thought this place must be decent. Overall, I can’t complain too much, but the pricing really let it down. Charging £40 for a game of darts in Chelmsford feels unreasonable, and £12 for an espresso martini is just excessive—it’s not London, after all. The darts setup had some nice graphics and features, but it would be much better if the rules were explained more clearly, especially for beginners. It was also unclear how long each game might take to play, which could be frustrating if you're trying to plan your visit. As for the mini golf—avoid it entirely. It’s in poor condition, with balls constantly getting stuck and broken edges everywhere. It’s nowhere near as enjoyable or beginner-friendly as places like Puttshack or other larger venues. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. However, I won’t be returning. I just can’t justify £40 for darts, £9 per person for partially broken mini golf, and overpriced drinks. Honestly, it feels like a case of greed rather than offering value for money.

We booked for karaoke, nobody on front desk so went upstairs only to be told to come back down and we’d be seen. Waited another 10 minutes and then a man came along and told us he was off duty but he’d help us anyway. Only to be told the systems were down and to go back upstairs to where we waited another 10 minutes to be seen. One of our friends went down, we ordered 2 bottles of Prosecco for £68. By the time we got in we were 10 minutes past our booking. Yet they still kicked us out 10 minutes before our finishing time!!!. Awful customer service will not be coming back here again! Told to arrive 10 minutes early for drinks but get seen to 20 minutes later!!!! Unacceptable!

Good fun if the people you are with are fun. Slight technical hitch at the start but they did fix it quickly and extended our time. Good selection of songs in their catalogue. Big space that can comfortably hold a dozen people, book for longer than you think because once you get going you'll want to carry on.

While we enjoyed the axe throwing and darts, the equipment for each was poor. The axes were rather blunt and mostly failed to stick on the target while the knowledge of the supervisor was extremely limited. For the darts, we were given 3 darts of varying weights, one of which frequently fell apart throughout and another wouldn't initially register on the dartboard. As we were downstairs, help was only given grudgingly and we lost about a quarter of our time in registering one of the darts and constantly repairing the other. At £40 for each activity this is very poor value for money and we won't be returning
