Great local pub with lots to offer. Small gripe that the handful of drinkers occupying stools at the front bar make it difficult to get bar staff's attention, order, pay & carry drinks for everyone else.

Dee's a marvel, she's the main reason it's a fave, food at Friday lunchtime is reasonable, great service, decent selection of beers, what's not to like??

Fabulous pub, lovely Sophie has amazing hostess skills and the new chef is top notch! Great gem of a pub in Danbury.

Had a funeral wake here and they did a wonderful job. Nice food, friendly bar staff and plenty of room inside and out.

Great pub as it has a function room for hire for special occasions. You can hire it for free if you are having a large number of people (think it's 30 plus but best to check with the owner). Large selection of ales, wine's etc. They also serve nice bar food/snacks. Friendly staff. Good place to pop in for a couple of pints.

I had a very good cheeseburger with chips and a couple of decent pints. The menu is short and to the point. Keeps it simple and does it well.

This was a beautiful pub where my partner and I enjoyed a lovely drink whilst catching the last of the spring sun one evening. Super lovely staff!! Can't wait to come back.

Attended a christening function here which my brother and partner paid for only to bet met with fairly rude bar staff. The children who attended with us were extremely well behaved and having fun, making very minimal noise however this was unacceptable and were told by the owner of the pub to be quiet. So he is happy to take your money with knowledge of kids attending but they must be quiet. Absolute idiot! Refused to apologise. It would seem dogs are made to feel more welcome than children. Approach the parents first not children!

Saturday night so was busy, but plenty of staff so service was quick and friendly. Dog friendly and had the football on in the back. Large outdoor area also. A premium lager on tap would personally be great, but if you like ales you're in a great place, so overall hard to knock!

Good local pub. Always friendly and shows all the live sport. Food is tasty and good value. Very good beer garden. Does three house casks beers (including two that are local) although the temperature of the beer could be colder

Sunday roast was excellent.Colin the manager was a top man.

Great pub to visit. Dog friendly and super welcoming locals. Plenty of Gins on offer, but my favourite was the Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle with Mediterranean tonic. Very nice and refreshing and very went down far too easy.

A great pub for food and ales (other drinks are available 😉). Excellent staff and service. Gets busy at times which speaks for itself. But worth a visit anytime.

Great cask ales, great selection of spirits plus fabulous service from the barman and the friendly punters. Will definitely come back if we're in the area and can thoroughly recommend it. They also do great food I am told although we'd set our hearts on a Chinese meal...next time!!

Friendly, decent sausage and onion lunchtime sandwich with nachos and pint of Skinners!

Popped in this pub on Jubilee weekend. The garden was quite spacious and served really nice, reasonably priced food. Halloumi sticks were great! Lived in Chelmo 16 years and not been in before, will be back! And the soul night is 18th June here.

Out with Colleagues for a works do, first one since pandemic.

My "work local" is always a reliable and consistent pub when you need one. Plenty of space to sit in a quiet corner or be in the midst of the other patrons.

We visited today with our year old granddaughter, Hungarian vizsla dog and son in law and we had the best time. Woody was fussed over and given a dog bowl which when tipped over(very large paws) was not a problem. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. We spent three hours amongst the friendliest staff and customers and we will be back. We are very lucky to have this terrific pub on our doorstep. The only place for a magnificent roast. The biggest Yorkshire filled with sausage and stuffing plus all the meat and vegetables including cauliflower cheese on the side. We loved it

We were intending to visit here as it had good reviews for ploughman's lunches. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it is permit parking all around, we weren't able to go in

Supersoul Saturday event so lots of people dancing and having a good time. Bar staff were really friendly and drinks at a good price.

House white wine tasted off. Charged £5 for a small glass of alternative wine. Would not recommend

Why advertise food on a Saturday when there’s none? Every table in the place needed wiping and chair seats torn and ripped. Not for us.

Been to the cricketers a few times now always found it a friendly place, but today 4 people behind the bar not one said hello. We saw a sign to say you had to order by text so we did still no interaction with staff. Not sure what we’d of done if we hadn’t had a phone? Drinks came with just a thanks no interaction😢. We had one drink and then left and not one member of staff said goodbye. Let’s hope it goes back to hospitality industry when this is all over.x

Being relatively new to the area, its good to find a pub which is in the heart of the community. And this pub definitely is. The drinks are wet, and just kidding. Very reasonably priced drinks and an amazing food menu to choose from. What else can I say, a great pub!

Best roast ! Service was impeccable and a lovely warm family pub. Wine was above and beyond what you would expect in a pub. Recommend!!!

Lovely pub great service really friendly staff and owners

Yes it's a nice civilised and quiet place to meet friends during the day. Haven't been there in the evening. They do food but it does seem very over priced for what you get and not good value for money. The homemade pies are the best value at £10 with chips and veg. They have a small selection of real ales which seem popular. Pleasant service.

Recently started serving food again following the Covid-19 lock down. They have introduced a Friday Pizza Night. OMG, brilliant pizza's and i'll even say they are better than most I have tried in the town center, but half the price here. Great atmosphere also considering the current climate. Will definitely make this a regular Friday night attendance, with a couple of draft beers too, obviously :-)

It's a pub that sells beer and food. Has a pool table, retro games machine, TV for sports. Great staff. Also has a small garden.

It's a cozy local pub within walking distance of the city centre.

Myself and 2 friends called in here before a t20 game between Essex and Somerset last week. Good selection of beers, many I've not heard of either. I had 2 different ones, very nice. I also had a nachos with cheese and my mates jacket pots. All enjoyed our time here and the staff were very nice and helpful too. We went here because after all we like cricket and this is called the cricketers. Would go there again when next in Chelmsford. Def worth a visit.

Great selection of ales and ciders. Being a big cider drinker I was happily surprised by the variety of proper cider they had. Nice big open area in the back for seating with is nice on a hot day.

Went for a wake after a funeral , food was really nice , helpful staff .

Had an amazing night. Meet some lovely people and great listening to some amazing music. Owner lovely and bar staff really friendly. Will be visiting again

Perfect place for a possibly fatal brawl. I was swarmed by a plethora of enraged males of whom provided me with a proper whacking. And no, do not worry. I enjoy the art of getting beaten up and consider myself quite the connoisseur. This establishment is ideal for my needs!

Visited on a lunchtime, my husband and myself, shared a bottle of wine, and ordered a brie and bacon bagette and a sausage and onion bagette, both were generously filled, hot, fresh and tasty, lovely staff, everything was fantastic

Great staff, beers on tap, food, and sport. Most importantly for us, happy for us be there with our young family. Most friendly pub in Chelmsford as far as we are concerned.
