Great choice of food. Very tasty, wonderfully presented and great value. Very friendly and helpful staff

Enjoyed tapas and wine in the sun in the outdoor seating area. Great lunchtime deal on the tapas for two of us, and including a bottle of wine the bill was under £70.

We recently hosted an event at County Hotel. I couldn't recommend it more for anyone wanting to host a special event in the heart of Chelmsford. The staff were very friendly, they were supportive discussing our needs before the event, the space looked great and the food surpassed expectation. Thank you!

It was quite busy when we visited and very noisy. I had a chicken salad which was lovely and came without dressing as per my request. My family opted for the children's fish and chips that looked lovely but not so enjoyable. Expecting to get nice white fish like the adult version their fish was grey and mushy. The lady's toilets were out of order so we were asked to use the disabled toilet. That was an experience, it didn't flush. Disgusting. Would we go back I'm not sure.

Disappointing Stay at Greenwood’s Hotel and Spa Sadly, our experience at Greenwood’s did not live up to the 4-star standard we expected. The spa was dirty, tired, and badly in need of refurbishment — the sauna was broken, the loungers were all full, and the jacuzzi was dirty. While the bedrooms were nice, they felt a little tired, and the bathrooms were not particularly clean. Dinner was delicious and really salvaged the trip for us — had the dinner not been so fantastic, we would have been leaving a 1-star review. Having a drink before dinner in the older part of the hotel was a real highlight — it’s a shame the rest of the hotel doesn’t reflect the charm and character of that area. Unfortunately, breakfast the next morning was poor quality and service was very slow. Despite toast being listed on the menu and served to other tables, we were never offered any with our breakfast. The most frustrating part of our experience was the difficulty in communicating with the hotel. We tried for a week to get through on the phone with no answer, only receiving a call back after leaving multiple messages. When we finally spoke to someone, the receptionist was neither friendly nor apologetic, and we were told that no spa treatments were available due to being fully booked — and that treatments should be booked three months in advance. (How you are supposed to book anything when phones go unanswered is unclear!) Adding to the frustration, when walking around the spa area, every treatment room appeared empty, with doors propped open and chairs resting on massage beds — raising questions about whether they really were fully booked. Overall, Greenwood’s is badly in need of refurbishment, and the staff would benefit from further training. A disappointing experience and certainly not what you expect from a 4-star venue.

Fantastic brunch treat with my mother. Lovely no nonsense place and food. Friendly staff that always say hello.

Always a worry visiting a cafe when one of your party is coeliac, but the staff were so knowledgeable, separate prep areas, good range of choice. Highly recommend, especially on a sunny day which we were lucky enough to have. Thank you

Best Costa I’ve been to. First visit, staff took my name and then made me feel like a regular, super friendly, quick and welcoming atmosphere.

Food and service. Top notch. Just had the bacon and egg sarnie and coffee. And was superb. Hot the spot lovely. And lovely people.

Absolutely terrible service! Never have I had such a bad service to the point where I’m being flat out lied too about the delivery and they can’t even explain themselves! I ordered 2 hours in advance, the expected delivery time was between 8:25-8:45. We waited to see exactly from 8:15 for the driver. It gets to past 9pm after no response and no contact for me to contact them to be told the driver has attempted and been outside until 9:10! We even got them to confirm the delivery address and then still they proceeded to tell us he was outside! Foul customer service with zero care to amend the situation all to be told on the phone and I quote “We don’t care” I will never be going back to this place again absolutely terrible service! Do not recommend! ***In response to the owners comment - we have buzzers on the door that cannot be missed and not a single one was attempted. No one was ‘waiting’ let alone for the time they lied about!

Called in on the off-chance. Lovely people. Although they had lost their chef the day before, they were doing their best to make sure everyone was fed. We had ham egg and chips which was very nice. They also had a walking group in, and were expecting a darts team in the evening. I wish them well. They deserve to succeed. 😊
