I have tried in front of market and really enjoyed the taste of briyani. Even I visited Cambridge I roamed about to find the same taste but I couldn’t. Mashallah. I try to come often Insha Allah. Btw the tea they serve is also great!

Started off well, the staff were friendly and the starters were good. Not sure if the chef was off but we were served what we thought was a supermarket Naan bread (for £5.50). We joked that it was from Tesco. When we asked for the bill we were told 5 min. The manager seemed to have disappeared no one else seemed to know what was going on. When she reappeared 35 min later she was actually carrying Tesco bags and they proceeded to un-wrap actual Tesco naan. We then got our bill 40 min after asking Not sure if the chef was off/they were having staffing issues as the other reviews seems good

What a terrific find! The food is amazing and totally delicious. We were well looked after and the team went that extra mile to make our visit extra special for a family birthday celebration.

Food was delicious, and friendly service. We met the owners and learned about the variety of the menu. Great choice of food with lots of vegetarian options. The masala spices chips were AMAZING and the green chutney that came with the pakoras was the best I've had. We are looking forward to visiting again.

The starters were very nice but the main was nothing special, microwave rice with a small amount of chicken. Wouldn’t go back or recommend.

Every single bit of food we had from here was of the highest quality, fresh and absolutely delicious. We had an Indian curry and a Mauritian curry, as well as other bits like samosas and naan, and everything was incredible. The people there are so nice as well. Highly recommend

It was a lovely experience and lovely food.

We throughly enjoyed our meal. They have a great choice of dishes and a menu for children. They were extremely hospitable and kind. We had vegetable pakora, gateaux piment/daal vada, chilli paneer, and chicken seekh kebabs for starters, and chicken biriyani, daal, and naan for mains. Dishes were excellent value with a special deal on Thursdays and Sundays. They can cater to your spice level. Portion size was amazing. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Will be returning. Must try!

Disgusting biryani I ever had. Biryani, onion n glasses all were smelling worst. It was just rice with tomato gravy. You can't name it biryani. 10.50 £ biryani n only 2 small pieces of chicken. Worst biryani.

A lovely and clean Indian-style atmosphere. It was a Sunday and the service was extremely slow - we, a table of 5 were the only customers but food took about 45 minutes to arrive, aside from a couple of takeaway orders. This may have been because one of the chefs was not on duty. Biryani - the restaurant's namesake was unavailable as were some of the other dishes. One of the dishes we had ordered, the server forgot to tell us it was unavailable. We only learned after 45 minutes when all the food had arrived. The food was great though - served piping hot, everything was cooked well, and the flavours were spot-on. One of the best Indian takeaways I've been to in the UK, in terms of flavour. (P.s. I'm Indian). The lamb chops tasted nice but the pieces weren't, - they didn't't have a lot of meat on them unfortunately. Recommended dishes: Pakoras, masala chips and chana chaat

Food was cold and not flavorful. Was stuck in the microwave which isn't great for rice. Pretty sign...no quality. Vegetable biryani had reheated frozen vegetables and was waterlogged. Samosas were all spice and no flavor. Was thrown away after taking some evidence pictures.

Disgusting food . Paid 10.50 for a Biriyani and it was stodgy rice with unseasoned chicken. Just tasted like a packet mix . Not authentic at all!

Josh was an excellent host from start to finish. The food was tasty & flavoursome. Portions were ample with the lamb chops for starters unbelievable. The staff are friendly, polite & advise you to the menu. The wife & I will be coming back to this delicious food. Well done chef or chefs.

The manager was very rude and did not provide a refund after their driver delivered only 50% of my order. The way I was spoken to was atrocious, so much so I was in complete disbelief, the manager cut the call following my request for a refund. The food that was delivered has made me physically sick. I'm so disappointed with this service and will not be ordering again.

Meal tonight to celebrate our son finishing his exams. Rather than get a takeaway, we thought we'd eat out and gave Biryani Boy a whirl. Very friendly atmosphere, no rush on ordering and lots of advice about items on the menu. We went for a lamb kebab in chapati, chicken kebab biryani, lamb biryani and the lamb tapas. All very flavoursome, well presented and decent sized potions. The only reason for a 4* rather than 5* on the food was too many sides on the lamb tapas - chapati, samosa, pantras (I think - like a spring roll) and lamb kebab, plus the lamb curry and lamb biryani. One less side and something like a dhal would have been more balanced. But that's a minor complaint. We had a great meal in a restaurant with an atmosphere I can only describe as like going around to someone's house for a meal - just very chilled and friendly.

I have eaten lots of Indian food in lots of places around the world and I have paid lots of money to very little money, but this restaurant has to be one of the best I have ever been to. It was like good home cooked food that your mum would make. Eating here tonight took me straight back to India and to the amazing dishes that you get when you're over there. The menu is small but the quality was stunning and so was the taste, which quite frankly left me wanting more even though I was full. Highly recommend that you try this place.

I had to go and pickup the order…even then the pakoras were really dry and dense, the butter chicken was rich at all with 3-4 pieces of chicken and the white rice was plain and not like the picture. I don’t think we will be going back.

I thought I'd had good biryanis before but this one was on another level! Definitely the best I've had. Would definitely recommend.

This is not your standard, three pot British Indian restaurant. it has a relatively short menu of cooked from scratch modern Indian dishes. The lamb chops are absolutely stunning, the biriyanis delicious and the pokoras tasty and unusual. Great range of beers, modern decor and cosmopolitan music playlist.

Very small portions for the £52 we paid. Only 2 pieces of chicken in the butter chicken, with the smallest amount of dahl and the naan was honestly the size of a chapati and pretty tasteless. I don’t see how you can charge such prices with such tiny portions and very oily food.

The worst experience of my life was waiting for half an hour, after which I paid for my order and left. It was truly unbelievable; cooking for myself or my family doesn't even take that long.

VEGETARIANS BEWARE I was given BEEF samosas instead of VEG. I will have to pick apart any food I order in the future. Deeply offended

Great vibes, top-notch location – it's like the GPS coordinates for a good time! The lamb biryani was so good it made me question my commitment to vegetarianism. The cardamom tea was like a warm hug in a cup. With a rating of 9/10, it's basically the cool cousin of restaurants. Bonus points for having a washroom – because let's face it, nature calls, even in the most awesome places!

This is a gem in Chelmsford. Authentic Mauritian/ Indian food. Small menu but excellent food. The patrons are friendly and all the food is made fresh.

A wonderful, authentic meal with such accommodating staff. We came with my cousin who has sensory needs and they provided plain naan, plain chips and plain rice for her. The wait staff were so so friendly and made sure we had everything to make our visit perfect. Just a shame some of the items on the menu weren’t available but I guess they must be popular!!

I've been wanting to dine at Biriyani Boy for a while now, but was let down. The food was good and seemingly cooked from scratch - this is great but not for people in a rush (even though we were there for 2 and a half hours...). The service, however, wasn't great. 1 person in our party of 4 wanted 3 of the starters to be served as a main - instead of having a curry, Biriyani etc. That being said, they were served as starters and almost 45 minutes before everyone else's mains. When the starters were delivered, we had to ask for cutlery. We asked for tap water which was given to us in a jug (no problem), but we then had to ask for glasses. The worst bit of the service happened when we were paying...We were originally given a bill that was missing one of the starters (unknown to us), which we calculated our individual totals off. The waitress soon realised this and provided us with an up-to-date bill including the missing starter (totally fair!), so the person who had this starter added it to their total. We were all paying separately, but when we started giving our totals to the waitress she didn't believe we'd added the missing starter to this - so she got her calculator and started adding it all up. Our totals came to the one on the updated receipt... Food was good, but not good enough to think about eating here again...

Ate at Biriyani Boy Chelmsford tonight. The food is 10/10. The place is relaxed, cosy Indian fusion cool and the staff are down to earth, genuine and happy. The chilli Paneer and Chana chaat starters was fresh, so tasty and the biriyani the best we have had. Our NYEve visit was excellent. Highly recommended.

Had the most amazing Biriyani Boy experience last night. The distinctive flavours of the delicious and authentic food, coupled with the extremely friendly, warm and attentive service made this a unique Chelmsford dining experience. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Taste of biriyani - Sad, the lamb felt like pellets of rock. Overall, dry and bland. Delivery - On time, good. Opinion - First time ordering so would be sceptical to order again in the future.

Highly recommended food eg freshly made puris! Really delicious. Lots of exciting Mauritian dishes. But, because they're done from scratch it takes time. Not for people in a rush.

We visited Biriyani Boy the other day and were warmly greeted. Chef Dilpreet served us lunch and it was amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

They host a Malaysian kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays and it's fantastic - had the nasi lemak with chicken and egg prata (which is rare, those who know) - taste was very authentic to Malaysian style. Worth your money and time, i would say.... the chef takes pride on her work and does drop in to check on your food. A must try and highly recommended....

We had a wonderfully authentic dinner here last Tuesday evening. Beautifully presented food with full-on flavours. The staff were all helpful, pleasant and polite. The chef was happy to discuss her ingredients and tips which was a rare treat! We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Went to Biriani boy for Malaysian food by Kampungku Malaysian Bites and the food was 10/10. The chef Elina was very helpful and her food is amazing. Thank you!

They host a Malaysian kitchen on Mondays and Tuesdays and it's 100% authentic. We had Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice and Roti Canai. So happy to finally have good Malaysian food in Chelmsford. Will be back to try their Char Koay Teow and Mee Goreng next.

Had Malaysian food . Roti chanai - the best I’ve ever eaten in uk ,better than roti king in london . It was very light , fluffy and crispy .We also had curry mee which was delicious with lots of ingredients, tofu , fish balls, large prawns, chicken and egg . Really great . The char koay teow was good but obviously not like the Penang char koay teow . My friends enjoyed the nasi lemak with lamb rendang . Would highly recommend this place if you want to eat Malaysian hawker food . The owner is very friendly and amicable . At the moment you can only get Malaysian food on Monday and Tuesday . Sorry no photos as we were too keen to eat and forgot to take pictures of the food . Next time .

Best Biryani in Chelmsford! I'm such a fan and keep coming back again and again for the biryani here! So much flavour, spice and meat within the dish. I always end up trying something different each time and it never disappoints! The pakoras are beautiful also!

I ordered the biryani by 9.15 pm , I liked the taste of Biryani Boy biryani and they provided a good amount of chicken pieces as well. The problems are Biryani and the curries are too oily and the Biryani was spoiled 😡so we had to throw them away

The quality has gone down so much its actually sad. The special lamb chops are so bad now. They made smaller portions and it's completely different than how it was. Finally a fantastic indian restaurant in Chelmsford food is just so delicious and great service. So hard to find good authentic Indian dishes and such a variety I will be back again more often.
