The best restaurants in Chelmsford East of England

We have been collecting Fish & Chips from The Bakers Arms since the start of Covid which has always been fantastic. Tonight on the recommendation of my son, we went and ate in and oh my god, I didn’t think it could get any better but it was amazing. Can’t believe that not having to unwrap them would make such a difference. Well done #TeamBakersArms. Sorry no photos as was too hungry.

First time in here was made to feel very welcome helped me pick food had a lovely time recomend taking advantage of happy hour with prices of drinks nowadays. 😊

Have lunched here before and it was great, so thought we would go today before browsing the antique centre. It seems that it's now under new management (since Good Friday) and it was so very disappointing. Menu was mainly sandwiches or rolls, and no 'proper' lunches. I was charged £8.95 for a bacon sandwich so was expecting lovely thick bloomer bread and plenty of tasty bacon ..... sadly it was medium sliced bread with at most 2 rashers of bacon. Way overpriced and I doubt we'll be back any time soon.

Ordered the combination kebab deal which is advertised as two full kebabs with breads. Asked for one chicken and one lamb. Got given this with only one bread so seems really light on fillings. Avoid the kebabs from here

The breakfast is ok. Don’t know why there is so many set breakfasts with chip? Cheap catering sausages and produce, service is great apart from who I think is the owner who could do with some customers service training. It’s not really value for money unfortunately, just a few extra touches would help

Good food with a beautiful setting

We received great service and with dietary requirements, Henrietta was very knowledgeable and checked with the chef to ensure we received the right food. The atmosphere is pleasant and the chairs comfortable. Thank you and if you're in the area be sure to drop on for a snack or meal.

Yummy food and incredible waiter (Adam)

the sub was falling apart as it was very soggy and had too much mayonnaise in.

Usually I don’t have any issues with this Costa, however on this occasion they forgot to send several of my items, including a chocolate tiffin and two pots of watermelon. I don’t usually order on a Saturday so maybe that played a part if they were busier than usual but it’s still completely unacceptable. Not happy.

Really lovely, a great meal, great service and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend

As always a wonderful take away, my brother in law travelled from Canada and requested a meal from The Shahjan and It didn’t disappoint. Marty boy is very happy👍👍😆
