We came into Cambridge last week and really wanted VeganWitch to be a goto place. Unfortunately it’s not for us. The pub is dark and not very welcoming and this food looks like Playdough. Sorry guys but we will stick with Thrive.
O!M!G!
Insanely delicious. Tried two flavors, and I LOVE that they have a small portion at a better price.
Blueberry sorbet was really good but the dark chocolate seasalt …. A dream.
Also the QR code online ordering scheme is very clever and quick, no need to queue.
Absolutely stellar staff. Fantastic selection of superb cheeses as well as a quality selection of food stuffs from around the world.
Will be treating myself again soon. Highly recommended
This is the ultimate decadent experience for chocolate lovers. The barista pointed me to the menu on the counter- I expected to see the standard fare of coffees and was delighted by the extensive selection of chocolates you can choose to customise your fav bev.
It ranges fr ~34% to 100%, and you can choose a mixture or single estate. We went for the 49% single origin Venezuelan cocoa.
I couldn’t tell you the difference between single vs mixed cocoa beans, but it was the most delicious hot chocolate we had ever had. The milk felt micronised and left a perfectly velvety taste. The sweetness of the 49% was perfect without adding extra sugar (probably could go darker if you want it less sweet).
The Knoops origin story is cool and if you panic at the top of the queue, check out their website for the menu before heading in. Cost wise, probably a more expensive brew than other cafes, but makes a nice first date joint (and then you have an excuse to for a second date to try the higher % in a blind taste test)
Sorry:
- can’t post the website here- Tripadvisor will ban the review ;)
- forgot to take pictures (so will need to go back!)
Pad Thai and grilled pork skewer are a bit sweet especially the pad Thai which is supposed to taste a bit sour from tamarind. Papaya salad was excellent!
We arrived at just gone midday and there was already a queue forming on the street!
Because it was just the two of us, we got seated straight away - although it was at the stools directly in front of the window which meant the people in the queue outside were all staring hungrily at us while we ate, and we did feel a bit like animals in a zoo.
My partner ordered the porchetta ciabatta and a poutine side, while I had the honey soy chicken bowl. Everything tasted fab and came in decent portions, and the servers were friendly and efficient.
We had a nice lunch and I would happily eat here again, though I probably wouldn’t be prepared to queue up for it…
