Tasty food made better with the friendly helpful staff 😊

Walking by this restaurant and saw a beautiful pork roast with craklins (chichirones) surrounding it and was lured in by the smell and looks. The food was fabulous. We had been in England for a week and the will be my most memorable meal. My wife asked the owner how he achieved the craklin and rather than try and keep.it a secret he went through the lengthy procedure needed to create the meat. This is gem and I hope the people of Cambridge realize how fortunate they are! Truly unique, truly delicious!

Good place to eat. Dish with grilled meat and various vegetables £17.5, very delicious. Very good location and excellent service in Spanish by a waiter from Salamanca.

Had the panchetta ciabatta with drinks. The bread was crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The pork was also nicely cooked, and I loved the salsa verde. However, there were two very hard slabs of pork skin in the sandwich that I just could not put my teeth into. It should really be left out of the sandwich as it can be a health hazard for some people with weak teeth... The service and atmosphere were warm and welcoming.

A spin off of Meat & Bread in BC, Canada. Delicious sandwiches and they serve poutine, too. Sandwiches from £10.50 and poutine starts at £7. It was delicious. A little warm on the uk summers days, could do with an AC unit. Would definitely recommend. We were a little taken aback by the service charge in a small place with not much service needed as such, but we still had a great time. Worth a visit, there were three of us and we spent just over £50. @kirbystaltari

One of the best lunches/sandwiches i’ve had for a long time! The philly cheese steak was unreal and the best poutine i’ve had in the uk! We managed to get a seat but its very small inside so take away might be easier. Staff were lovely. Wasnt cheap but 100% worth it. Homemade lemonade was lovely too! Would visit again

Whenever we are in Cambridge I try and come by to order a honey soy chicken sandwich with roast veggies on the side, and a poutine if I’m with company. I’ve tried a few of the other sandwiches and they are good too, but honey soy chicken is by far my personal favourite. Try and dine in if you can, as the food can get quite soggy quite quickly when packed to go.

They’re famous for their sandwiches but their sandwiches while delicious, it’s too small and too expensive. Their coleslaw was bland and not worth the price as well.

Love this place for a quick take away lunch. Highly recommend never disappoint. We come here every time we are in Cambridge from London. Soy chicken or the top side ciabatta but to be fair any would satisfy!!!!

Fantastic sandwiches but loses one star because ambience a bit lacking. Could do with a fan or air con because on a warm day it’s very hot in there.

We stayed 1 week st cambirdge and we came here third times!! Love these sandwiches. I can not decided which is better philly cheese steak or honey soy chicken. Meat one is cooked 14 hours omg!! It is so soft and this sandwihes has great fresh cheese. chicken one has great souce and it is also soft.

We came completely by chance. A very good discovery. The sandwiches are excellent with very good ingredients. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

I can honestly say this is the best sandwich I have ever had. The meat is delicious and the bread is crispy and soft at the same time! I would 100% recommend you come and try the food here!

Tried for the first time today after hearing amazing reviews. I had the honey soy chicken with slaw and sriracha mayo. Best sandwich I've had in a long time. Not always huge on bread but this was fluffy and warm in the middle with a crisp crust. Will come back

Great place to eat! We ordered the philly cheese steak with poutine, one in a bowl and the other the ciabatta. It was really tasty. Price is good as well. Our waiter was lovely and we had a great time. Certainly going back when in town.

One of the best ciabatta I have in Cambridge. The combination of topside beef and other ingredients are just perfect! The beef is so tender and rich in flavour. The sourdough ciabatta is also a blast, soft inside with a real crispy crust. The weekly special bbq beef brisket is a little greasy with too much dressing.

Photo doesn’t do justice to how good this was! Lucky to be seated straightaway in a tight table which is fine given the size of the place. Would recommend mixing and matching if visiting with friends to maximise trying everything!

I absolutely love this place since it's opened. I recommend take away and sit somewhere nice in a park or something 😄

Our favourite is Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. Yummy pulled beef. The bread is crispy and delicious. We enjoy it everytime. Never disappoints you. Highly recommend it. They do trials from time to time in the menu. I would be happy to see more trials on the beef sandwich side.

Local business with delicious food and swift service. Reasonable prices as for Cambridge. We were served by Ines who was very kind and efficient. Her service was seamless. There was no pressure to leave a tip which was nice surprise.

Hi iv posted on dilveroo ap but can't reply the meat was fatty but couldn't swallow it was awful, the chips just wasn't great if you check the month before I gave you 5 stars as I normally love the food

Went it at 11:29 to get take away at the side door. Told to come back in 5 min by a girl with what I assume is a replicated American accent. Politely told the girl is 1 min to half 11 which is when they open and asked if I can pay now and collect whenever is ready. Told to come back in 5 min. I guess not!!! Not on my money. Shame as we were regulars.

Best meal in Cambridge . A bit expensive for this type of fare but the quality is really good and much better than places around that would charge more. The Philly steak with poutine is mouthwatering. Service also fast & pleasant. + for the clean toilet

Really pleasant drop-in after the chapel and right before the lunch rush. They had seating along the window, close enough to watch the queue grow. It's tiny, so eat and don't linger so the next person can enjoy. The porchetta sandwich accompanied by the most unexpected veggies was delicious.

Absolutely outstanding sandwiches and in my top 2 of all sandwich places (other being Dieleto, Fleet St, London). It is not your average sandwich, it is substantially better. Small queue forming outside (12 people) on a sunny Saturday lunch time in June. Took around 15 minutes to get seated. However, it was organised and they kept tabs on the numbers/groups waiting outside and updated us on progress. Opted for both the Pork and Chicken each to share which arrived quickly. Ciabatta was fresh and crispy, good amount of meat inside, sauces went together well with lots of flavours which combined well. Both were great options but Chicken definitely had the edge and would go for that again next time. Service was efficient yet friendly. Can’t wait to come back and visit again.

The food was good, but it felt rather cheeky to be presented with the card machine without seeing an itemised bill beforehand, especially when the tip was automatically added.

Philly steak was extremely delicious. I loved its taste with its meat, cheese, pepper and bread. Lemonade was also nice and the sugar was just right.

Decent bit of roast. Won't knock the grade. Mid rare methinks. My only input is, there's literally no point in rocket salad in a roast sandwich. 100% spoils it. Tomatoes are sound. Ciabatta was fair. Didn't test the sauce had forgotten to ask for the ingredients itinerary. Just diatry preference. Though I'm sure the probables are it's delicious.

Probably the best lunch I have had for a long time. Excellent service, warm friendly atmosphere and most importantly the bread and meat were top notch. If I'm ever in Cambridge again, this is where I will be eating.

It was actually pretty average, definitely not one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. In all honestly, I don’t think I would return. I had the special, (Korean chicken) which was ok, and my partner had the spicy honey chicken, which was pretty terrible. Maybe their other items are better….

Philly cheese was top notch, and the poutine side delicious and enough to share between 2. Veggie sandwich was nice enough but lacking a bit of oomph.

Best sandwiches in town. The quality here is always perfect. Staff are very friendly and always happy to make space for a pushchair, despite only having a small number of tables. Bread and Meat is a Cambridge staple!

Delicious beef sandwich (shared between two oldies). Also portion of slaw. Owner came to talk us through slow cooked beef which miraculously ends up pink & lovely. Must try - suspect I will need an enormous joint of beef 😆 Really good food & service. We'll be back.

The Philly Cheese Steak Ciabatta and Poutine I tried recently were both excellent. We were wandering around and figured we’d check this place out for lunch based on the many positive reviews. They couldn’t have been more right - the place was great! I ordered the lemonade (sweet and refreshing), the porchetta sandwich (tasty bread and even more tasty meat - spiced just right), and fries with spicy mayo (cooked to perfection). The picture I’m sharing is not mine, but my order looked exactly like it but my phone had died.

Best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. Meat is so succulent and really high quality produce used. Will be returning to Cambridge just for another meal here!

Everything was fantastic! My wife got the Honey garlic chicken bowl and I got the Honey garlic sandwich and we shared a poutine. (Being from Quebec, we are poutine snobs... That being said, the British interpretation was a very good and the cheese was delicious!)

Great food. I just wish that the space were bigger sometimes (can get busy some evenings especially on the weekends). A little pricey for a sandwich but I'm willing to pay; the quality of the bread and meat is wonderful.

Outstanding gravy, and the meat dishes are very good. Perhaps leaning on the salty side but that's sorta the point. Service is very good. Poutine best I've had in UK. I'd love to see the coffee improve - not in the same league as the food - but for casual eats it's a favourite in Cambridge for sure.

I love this place, it’s a must visit whenever I’m in Cambridge. Today I went in, and it took a bit longer than usual for my order to be taken. To be honest, I didn’t even really notice, but the waitress was so kind. They even sent me with a free brownie after I paid. 10/10 recommend for good service and food.

I went here randomly to be honest and it was the best decision possible. The Philly steak Poutine was so amazing and a great size . Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Will be back and looking forward to it.

We came just to try the brownie! They used to do oreo brownie, but now it's just the classic brownie they sell. You get a choice of ice cream from vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. The ice cream they provide is what next door sells via a window. The brownie was glorious!! The ice cream was delicious, too. The temperature of the brownie was perfect. We'd definitely return! The only downfall is that when we left, my clothes smelt very bad... there is lots of meat being cooked indoors and other food and ventilation is bad. This needs fixing!

Bread and Meat has amazing food and average (cans) to great drinks (milkshakes). It has enough space to seat about 20 people and it gets busy during lunch time with people sometimes queuing. They offer takeaway as well. The price and the standard included service charge (this should be optional) make it quite expensive: we paid more than £30 for a small lunch for two which is on the higher end for a simple sandwich lunch.

Delicious sandwich - on the pricier side, but you definitely get what you pay for. Service was pleasant and fast.

If you go during lunch time, you may have to wait a bit. I ordered two sandwiches and lemonade. Philly cheesesteak is thick and slightly salty braised sauce. Honey Soy Chicken is delicious chicken seasoned just right. Cheese steak tastes too typical for Koreans, so I recommend chicken. Lemonade tastes truly homemade. And the ciabatta was crunchy and delicious.

Loved this place. Had to queue to get a seat, but it was well worth the wait. Slow roast brisket and honey soy chicken were fabulous in the sour dough rolls.

Fantastic sandwich shop, their topside beef is good however the best one is Philly cheese steak. The brisket is just melting in your mouth with cheese and combination with bread and jalapeños was amazing. Truly impressed and soon as you bite you can taste the juiciness and can’t stop eating it. Would definitely come back for this and would like to try others as well. Seats are bit small and when it’s full of people it becomes quite uncomfortable and hot and stuffy too.
