Great speakers and events, but the lady in the plaid dress and bad eyebrows that was working at the door tonight at the Marco Pierre White event is quite rude and should probably consider being nicer while doing a public facing job :)

Great place to go for an event was my first visit and it did not disappoint

Excellent historic space. We used as a plenary space as part of a conference which worked very well. Coffee and refreshments were good. The Orator cafe bar did a good lunch and the sound was good, but do sound check.

As an old member I was taken back to find that so much of the building has been turned over to a restaurant. With the main building closed for a private event (with no warning on their website), there was nowhere for members to go outside of the restaurant. Very disappointing.

What an unexpectedly great place for a wedding! Amazingly atmospheric with stunning locations for photos. The staff were excellent and helped things run smoothly.

The cafe / restaurant of the debating society is open to the public. They serve really good tea.

Soon there will be no true free speech speakers allowed here, You must live your life and govern your career as the union see fit to be able to speak freely. Which sadly has now resulted in the union loosing genuine speakers.

An amazing debating chamber with lots of history

This is literally an icon of history and it is rich in the DNA of the building. Just stand there and you can literally feel it. Stunning

Came to watch Cambridge versus Oxford at a public debate. Great experience. Top notch debaters. Venue is outstanding. Visiting Cambridge is a treat. Make sure to doublecheck to see if the debate is open to the public if you plan to visit.

If you just visit here, the place itself is not bad. But please do not buy the membership !!!!!!, it is not worth the money at all. Not sure if it happened in past years, but this year, they canceled a significant amount of big events at last minutes. I purchased the membership for these events, but they just canceled without any reimbursement. It looks like they just keep posting fake events to attract people to purchase the membership. For those famous visitors events "postponed', I did not see any of them actually visit back. Also, They kept saying they are going to increase the membership to induce people to buy the membership, but it never happened for the past whole year. I barely leave any bad review, but my experience with Cambridge union is extremely bad.

Beautiful surroundings and reasonably priced food and drink

The Cambridge Union (Society) is located in a wonderful location. While I don't myself have a membership, I have heard from others that the debates that happen here are great, and perhaps worth the rather expensive membership fee. I have gone here for other events, and it has a historic ambiance which is very enjoyable.

Great for you if you're a member - you get access to world class speakers. But the seat allocation needs serious work.

Joined the Cambridge Union which has a load of programmes, debates and famous speakers to attend. There's a cafe bar within too with great vibes.

Love the place. Great atmosphere for reading a book in peace and meet unknown and possibly friendly people.

Quality varies from term to term. However, usually an excellent selection of speakers. Very nearly worth the high price of membership!
