Alex, who cooked our lemon sole, can cook fish. I have never wanted to not finish...it was exquisite. Thankyou for a fabulous meal.

The dining experience here was absolutely phenomenal! Each dish was plated beautifully, showcasing an incredible level of detail and artistry. The Scotch egg with its golden crust paired perfectly with the tangy kimchi and creamy drizzle—such a creative fusion of flavors. The salmon dish was a fresh delight, with its velvety texture complemented by delicate accompaniments like caviar and pickled vegetables. The balance of flavors was impeccable. The lamb was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, paired with vibrant greens and earthy purple potatoes. The fish dish was another standout, with its crispy skin sitting on a bed of rich tomato sauce and juicy shrimp—a seafood lover’s dream. The ambiance, presentation, and taste all exceeded expectations. This is truly a place for those who appreciate a refined and memorable culinary experience. Highly recommend!

Brilliant meal here, five floors of English & Asian cuisine.... We went Asian, beautiful, beautiful food, nicely presented and incredibly tasty.... Table service was excellent, we just couldn't fault the place, saying that just be careful if your over 6ft the lower dining area is a bit tight on headroom.... We'll worth the visit.... 10/10

Really amazing food and superb wine list! We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. There were also several vegetarian and vegan options and although I'm not either, I decided to try it as a main and it was lovely! My husband had a wonderfully cooked rabbit & pheasant. To me the cherry on the cake was the wine menu. There were so many excellent and unusual wines, including a wine from Japan, Susumaniello from Puglia and many more. Besides, there was an extensive explanation about each individual wine. We can't wait to go back again!

This was an excellent meal with some lovely, deconstructed dishes that were beautifully presented and generally very well designed. Parts of the meal verge from gastronomy into art - the mushroom starter was really amazing in this regard. Highly recommend for a great meal in Cambridge.

We had a wonderful evening at Market House. We’d been looking for a venue that could host a table of 16 and a lot of places in Cambridge either couldn’t host our party or had an extra charge for a suitable room. Market House offered us a private dining room at no extra cost and gave use an evening to remember. The food, drinks and venue were all great & the team really looked after us well.

The main restaurant is upstairs with views over the market square. We popped in for a cooked breakfast with great views and delicious food. The restaurant was quiet on Saturday morning giving us a great table overlooking the market. We enjoyed a full English and Eggs Benedict. There were plenty of savoury, sweet and cooked options for veggies and carnivores. The location is excellent, the food was fair value and the service was good. We shall return!

We chose the British menu, and a 10% service charge was added to the bill by default. Advantages: The dining environment is good, the decoration is simple and elegant, and there are two menus to choose from, British and Chinese. Disadvantages: The food is served slowly. We only got the food half an hour after placing the order. The juice that was served at the beginning was almost finished. The service was average, and I didn't even ask about the food.

We ordered the Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and the Hollandaise sauce was so acidic. They offered to do it again, but the person that was with me didn't want stay longer. Needs Really to improve the chefs skills

I past by this place with my mum I sat down & on the board it said £2.90 for a cuppachino & £2.90 for a Coissant, but when I recieved the bill it was £3.90 for a cuppachino & £3.90 for the Coissant. It wasn't the price so much it was the fact I was mislead & then when I spoke to the waiter thing's got even worse when I said I wanted to speak to the manager as he replied I totally agree with but there's no point in speaking with the manager because they don't care so I said I'll put up a bad review & he said yes do that because they won't care. WOW!! couldn't believe it so here's the honest review

Ate here for lunch today with my girlfriend. The food was delicious and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The front of house staff were friendly and welcoming. We originally planned to have three courses from the à la carte menu, but the food arrived so painfully slow that we had to settle on just two courses. We both enjoyed the food we had, but I ran out of patience waiting. This is my only criticism and overall I would go back again.

Was greeted by an older gentleman who was extremely polite and welcoming. I was served yesterday by a lady with an auburn pixie cut, who was so lovely. Today that same gentleman greeted me and I was served by a lovely handsome chap. Exquisite customer service. Went out for the day in Cambridge and found this little gem. They offer both British and asian cuisine. We opted for the British one and were pleasantly impressed. Felt like we were fine dining in a high end restaurant. We got the olives and scallops as starters along with good wine to pair with it. The olives were huge and had a spicy tingly flavour while the scallops were smothered in a rich buttery sauce that left us craving for some more. The waiter saw my partner constantly reaching for the remaining sauce, so he brought some bread to the table so he can enjoy it fully. Loved the waiter’s attentiveness. Then the main course came about. Amazing flavours both with the steak and the cod we ordered. Absolutely in love with the crispy truffle chips which paired delightfully with our mains. Loved this place and would definitely recommend, although I must say it’s on the pricier side, once in a while it’s worth it. Plus points for seating us on the window spot. 👌🏼

Best lunch for a mile. We came here for lunch and they looked after the moment we stepped in, it’s really stylish inside, My son ( 2 years old) had chicken thighs and chips and it was a big portion for a kid and he had a lot of if, he enjoyed it all, the side salad not so good, but that’s kids for you, but it was nicely presented. I had the haddock and chips, the batter was cooked to perfection even so I eat it all, the tartar sauce was to die for, freshly prepared and the crashed peas was perfect, Now I can’t remember what the wife had but she said it was delicious and there was no evidence left on any of our plates 😂 Highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. Complements to the chefs.

My wife and I had a lovely evening here on Saturday. We had eaten upstairs on a previous occasion which we enjoyed so thought we would try the Asian restaurant in the basement. The service was fantastic and the small plates are great. The mains were okay, so we when go back we will definitely have lots of small plates, they are so fresh and tasty.

Came on a horrible wet July (!) evening which may have accounted for it being quiet on a Friday. We had the asparagus and the terrine starters with cod and the catch of the day (perfectly cooked salmon) for main. All was beautifully presented and tasty - great place for a quality meal out

We had a lovely meal here. Started with cocktails then a wonderful red - amazing descriptive wine list - with wonderful food. Highly recommend the scallops. Service was superb too and loved the owner/manager coming to every table.

Very smart restaurant and coffee shop with a warm welcome. Only drawback is there are steps (quite a few and quite steep) if you wish to eat inside. We only had coffee but the menu looked very good.

The food was very good and the house white wine was too. The service was attentive and pleasant. The spaces however lack a little atmosphere and character - hovering somewhere between a domestic front room and a hotel lobby vibe. You can easily pay £70 a head for a two course lunch with wine. Good for lunch with Mum, if she’s paying.

Nice place, service was good by our water on 1st floor. This was our second visit and we have decided to try the Asian kitchen instead of the traditional which was great at the time… The service was again great like the first time and the water was the same from few months ago. We have waited for our starters exactly 30 minutes from the time we have ordered them. That was approximately 12:45 so not busy at all so no excuse to wait 30 minutes for a starter which wasn’t great at all. The tempura was not good as well as the pork Bao and myself and my wife still feel sick. The main was okay but totally unseasoned and honestly not worth it. We won’t be tasting the Asian menus ever again, big mistake.

Terrible, overpriced and rude staff AVOID!!! We wasn’t told we couldn’t have any alcohol and there was no conversation of that context, the staff excuse was that we was being loud. We are far from loud but I’m glad we chose to go to a more friendly and more reasonably priced establishment. That’s a lie, you refused to serve us at all. Blaming intoxication as a excuse that wasn’t the case

Great little restaurant overlooking the market but with the most amazingly written wine list , although not overly extensive every wine has a very descriptive summary written by the owner , who we spoke to and who was clearly very passionate about his food and wine. Well worth a visit

Amazing little restaurant overlooking the market! The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The restaurant has a modern interior and well lit. The food was amazing, I had their catch of the day which happened to be swordfish and it was cooked to perfection. My first time trying it but will definitely be keeping an eye out for it on other menus now. The desserts were fantastic, across the table we practically ordered at least one of each. The service did take slightly longer than expected but nothing that left us struggling for food. There are a variety of drinks on the menu, plenty of nonalcoholic options too. This place is quite pricey but that is to be expected, the food definitely lived up to the price!

We had a lovely family dinner here. 8 persons in a separate room. Everybody picked their dishes. Fish, meat etc - everything very weill prepared. Very nice service. We were really very well taken care of. Nice wines - big selection from many countries. Some interesting winecoutries we never tried before.

We had aranchini starter which was very tasty. My main halibut dish, visually so pleasing too, had a mix of interesting flavours with various vegetables. Desserts were delicious. House white wine we shared was good. We had a nice table with a good view of the market and church.

Pros: Very attentive and pleasant service, very central location and very well decorated. Cons: The food is average, it is quite expensive for the amount they serve, it takes a long time to serve the dishes and the tables are very close together. I would not go back

My colleagues and I recently shared an excellent experience in the private dining room. Beautifully decorated room with long dining table and casual sofa seating. Food was enjoyed and well presented. Thank you to all members of staff and a big thank you to Ben for brilliantly hosting our evening and dealing with our silly antics with great humour.

We went for dinner during Cambridge restaurant week and ate in the cellar part which is Market House Asia. The food was really tasty and very well prepared. I had the aubergine Bao bun and 3/4 people had the Korean fried chicken for main. Both were very tasty and would be back to try more as the menu has a lot of great choices. The cellar itself is lovely with nice vibes. Only shame was it was a Tuesday evening so a little quiet. Service was really nice.

We ate dinner at MH Asia. Great service. Disappointing food - really tough duck leg and only one bao bun (lots of raw unseasoned cabbage in the disguise of slaw), overcooked small tempura prawns, non-crispy kimchi pancake, uninteresting sauces (siracha dominant, no other flavour). Sake served room temperature. Great location but won’t be going back due to food.

Delicious food, brilliantly prepared and thoughtfully presented and served. Tempting vegetarian and vegan choices as well as fish and meat options. Good advice on wine choices and interesting non-alcoholic cocktails. We will have to return to taste more of this wonderful food. Big thanks to all at Market House it was a fantastic meal.

I don’t often write reviews however my husband and I stumbled upon one of our new favourites in Cambridge last week! The restaurant is divided into two cuisines with a modern menu and Asian menu (which we opted for). The food was all amazing with our favourite being the pork belly, which is to die for. All super fresh and provided by local suppliers as informed by our waiter. Service was fantastic which made the overall experience better. The young man certainly has a great deal of charm and humour and we will certainly be visiting again (especially with our free wine token!)

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the Town During a special celebration for a friend's PhD achievement, we were delighted to discover this restaurant's impeccably clean, bright, and modern interior. Opting for the Asian menu led us to a cozy corner spot in the downstairs area, offering an intimate dining experience. The menu, though concise, presented a diverse selection of Asian dishes. The highlight for me was the Korean-style fried chicken, which was exceptionally flavorful. The tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) and stir-fried glass noodles were also standout dishes, both delivering on taste and texture. My friends were particularly fond of the Chinese-style pork belly and the crispy duck leg, praising their authentic flavors. We further indulged in sharing plates of Japanese-style tempura and yakitori, which were delightful. While we might not be experts on authenticity, our group, hailing from various Asian backgrounds, found the fusion of flavors to be both innovative and satisfying. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in town, perfect for anyone looking to explore a refined mix of Asian cuisines in a welcoming and stylish setting.

This was disappointing. We paid fine dining prices for adequate cooking. Somehow none of the food had the 'wow' factor, and the wine list is very expensive. Service was charming if a trifle naive. Overall I don't think we'll be returning.

The Asian food in the wine bar was absolutely fantastic. Some of the nicest Asian food we had had in the UK in a lovely setting.

Schedule was overrun that day which ended up in a late dinner. Not knowing where to go, I quickly did a search on nearby restaurants and found this "Market House" restaurant which was just next to the open central market place that opens on weekends (or Sundays?). The restaurant was situated on the basement and once we walked in, it had a completely different vibe. Like exploring into a cave, we were seated at a small table in between the main dining room and the bar/kitchen serving area. I quite enjoyed the setting as it was like having a private dining area ourselves. At that time of the evening (ard 9ish), there weren't many customers in the restaurant but yet I didn't feel the whole environment was too empty. The burrata appetizer we had were served in small pieces, which was different from the usual uncut form. I also had the rump of Norfolk lamb which was more tender than I expected. Overall, a very nice dinner!

A great evening. The food was stunning, the service exceptional and the decor was very stylish. We had a lovely meal with all of the servers being very attentive . The menu was small, but varied with an excellent wine list. Would definitely recommend.

There are two separate restaurants. We ate at the Asian one. Food and service were good, no complaints. My favourite thing was the wine list. Loved reading the detailed descriptions.

A wonderful place for a date on a Friday night. We enjoyed the house red, delicious starters (arancini and whipped goats cheese), perfect mains (mushroom wellington and duck), and shared a delightful sticky toffee pudding. The mains were a little slow arriving, which we hardly noticed, but the service team were very apologetic and made things right. The service overall was brilliant and attentive.

It’s really lovely to have an independent restaurant in Cambridge that has good quality modern British food without gimmicks. Our meals - which were all fish - were beautifully prepared and really well balanced. We had scallops, fish terrine, and a salmon main course which were all wonderful. I thought the quality of the food was really excellent for the price and just right for a nice evening out. Drinks selection was great with plenty of alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The atmosphere was really nice with tables filling up fast even though we’d booked in for a very early 6pm dinner. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the surroundings were nicely thought out. Really great to overlook the market square and people watch too. I’d definitely come back and would consider having a post-graduation meal out here and certainly would be a go-to if I have friends or family visiting. Would be really keen to try the Asian portion of the menu perhaps at lunchtime. Thanks a lot for having us!

Very attentive service and when I ask for a recommendation my server was very prompt to answer all my questions ( I’m not a fussy eater I just have a lot of weird dietary restrictions), which I really appreciated. Other places they don’t seem to take it as serious and accommodating. Food was a bit expensive but okay in quality and flavour. Nice chilled atmosphere.

Took the family here for a birthday and was impressed by the food and service. The atmosphere was relaxing, the decor was fancy and we had pretty views of the market. Everything we had was excellent and I would happily return as I thought it was good value for money.

Dinned on 30th December. Food, service and atmosphere all lovely. Waitress without prompting took my wife through the menu to explain how dishes could be adjusted to take into account her dietary requirements. Would definitely go back.

Had high hopes for this place given all the five star reviews. Food was sooooo slow. Starter portions were tiny. Four small pieces of chicken for the Korean starter. My beetroot goats cheese salad only had four 1cm pieces of beetroot. Steak was chewy, mash was lumpy. Everything was heavily soaked in butter and salt. Servers were nice but that’s about it. Would not recommend.

I hate bad reviews, but this is only fair. We looked forward to this after the good reviews, but it was ultimately a really disappointing experience. We went for my birthday meal. Since it was a special occasion, we ordered sparkling wine. The waiter couldn't open it. I'll spare the blow by blow, but ultimately, it took 35 minutes from ordering the wine to having a drink on the table. By this time the starters had been served and we were half way through mains. Despite this, they charged us the full price. Things go wrong in hospitality, but the way they dealt with this was poor. Not being able to get the cork out of a bottle is unusual, but the moment it became clear this problem was going to take a while to solve, they should have held the starters (and definitely the mains) until it was resolved. A complimentary drink while we waited would have been a nice touch. I ultimately would have expected the wine to be free after all the effort. Very disappointed. Some of the reviews seem to suggest these guys are the next big thing in town. They've got a long way to go before they're anywhere near that. The food was immaculately presented, but the venison main was honestly quite bland. Could have used seasoning (no salt on the table).

Food is above average in Cambridge but service is quite slow. Decoration is eclectic. This can be an elevated place but not overly classy place to treat some patient guests in the heart of the market square. The bread is pricy but tastes better than expected. Nicely toasted. Crusty shell, soft and moist inside. Smoked salmon salad is pretty and tasty. Korean fried chicken is juicy, although the first bite reminds me more of General Tsao than Gochujang. String beans are stir-fry style, which is good. Scallops are nicely seasoned, so is the black pudding ball. The apple dressing is refreshing. (As a main course the portion is too small for an adult, with only three scallops… All dishes come with petite size to save room for two courses, but anyone choosing scallops should consider a more substantial starter or additional sides.) Sirloin is decent. The mushroom is particularly lovely. The lemon tart is beautifully presented and delicious. How delightful is the bright yellow and magenta color! The tart is not solid but indulgently gooey. The strong lemony taste balances the sweetness and the sorbet is airy and super refreshing. Service is friendly but really slow. The timing between the courses can be better paced. We are already beyond hungry when the main dish finally arrives. Perhaps the kitchen needs to improve its capacity and efficiency. Our food eventually sped up when other tables left.

Okay good, but overpriced for what you get with relatively small portion sizes. Definitely need three courses to be full. Lunchtime deal is well worth it, evening meals less so.

Came for a take out coffee and was served by André who was very welcoming and friendly. Great quality coffee that tastes expensive for only £3.50 which is less than places like Starbucks charge! Calm environment with very fancy vibe, I hope to come here again in the future for food!

Hosted an event here. Many people dropped out as they said the menu wasn't inspiring. Venue and staff brilliant. £14.95 for a glass of wine is ridiculous. The plaice I wanted wasn't d boned so I went for the monkfish. It was ok but really not worth £27. Wouldn't return

Four of us came for dinner Aug 2023. Super friendly service, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was outstanding, my scallops were as good as I’ve ever eaten, I had catch of the day (sadly no photo) I was to excited about eating it and figured a plate of picked clean bones wouldn’t look that appealing. We don’t have many restaurants in Cambridge worth visiting but this one should be on your list.

a mid-week, long (slightly boozy) lunch for five people and it was absolutely fantastic. Location couldn't be better. Service was first rate and the food was incredible. Being based in London, I'd be used to paying ffar more and getting much less, but the whole experience was excellent. Highly recommend

Had a fantastic evening with my wife. Service was great as was all the food (and cocktails 😁). First time we’d been but would highly recommend. We ate downstairs in the wine bar, that was a far more intimate quiet setting compared to the main upstairs restaurant and serves exactly the same food.

Had a lovely anniversary meal heal. Food was excellent, exceptionally tasty. Staff were super friendly. Decour was very nice. Wine and beer were decent. The price was very high, though. I would recommend it and like to visit again for a special occasion.
