I don't have a lot to say about this restaurant other than; incredible service, delicious food (across Starter, Main & Dessert), super wine choice and superb ambience. Definitely on the list to visit again.

We come here most Friday evenings and for the last 2 years, Christmas day. Kes and Debs (the landlord/landlady) are great; Debs cooks and Kes does front of house. They always have on 3 or 4 ales and the normal largers. The food is really good, the place is always clean and the garden has lots of space. Book for Fri nights if you want food as they get full quick!

Surrounded by a plethora of fast food junk establishments stands an icon of hope and joy, the Market House. Service and cooking is to an excellent standard; Both dishes I had were showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients and thoughtful flavour combinations. The Pinney's Hot Smoked Scottish Salmon was a standout. The salmon itself was perfectly smoked, with a delicate balance of smoky flavour and moist texture. The smoked buttermilk cream added a luxurious richness that complemented the salmon beautifully, while the cauliflower provided a subtle earthiness and textural contrast. The herbed cracker added a satisfying crunch and a burst of fresh herbs. The main course ; Whole Baked Lemon Sole was another winner. The sole was cooked to perfection, with flaky, tender flesh and a delicate lemony flavor. The celeriac fondant was a revelation, offering a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture and a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the fish. The roasted fennel added a touch of anise flavor and a satisfying bite, while the kosho pear provided a unique and exciting twist with its spicy, fruity notes. The dish was also gluten-free, which is a bonus for those with dietary restrictions Overall, both dishes were expertly prepared and presented, demonstrating a clear passion for quality ingredients and culinary creativity. For food lovers hope shines eternal at the Market House

We went to have lunch to get gluten free pizzas, as advertised in their menu. However, they had ran out of the base pizzas. We found that very disappointing, as we couldn't enjoy the lunch we had booked for. I think this type of mistake is so easily fixable, just stock enough gluten free pizza bases, that a review was necessary so that this doesn't happen again in the future. Please, stock properly for your celiac clients. Thank you. EDIT: After returning to the premises we had a wonderful lunch. Thank you for inviting us to return.

Had chicken burger, was overpriced and over fried. Fries weren't that special either. Service and atmosphere was good tho, but for 15 pounds this was not worth half of it.

The main chamber and debate room were beautiful, I went to an astronomy lecture here. The architecture and design and decorating of the place was beautiful with all original portraits and stuff on display, the library was also amazing! Only thing is the staff had no idea what they were doing...
