Me encantó!

The interior was pretty and the staff was nice. However, my cappuccino and espresso was very weak and overpriced for something that tasted 98% milk. I'm puzzled who may have nominated this cafe as one of the best coffee shops in Cambridge last year because it certainly does not live up to its hype.

Overestimated Quality I know that it's a very old history cafe but I've never been to it. I know that the rating is very high too. Why? Because the prices of the products are scary. The cafe is so small that it doesn't look like a good place to couch. Bought a pastry finally as I am trying to review the pastries of the Cambridge town centre. In terms of pastries, the main rival is Stir Bakery and Aromi nearby! Let's put it onto a scale. It's 120g for this £4.50 pastry. It was crazily sweet. So sweet that I couldn't taste the pistachio and chocolate flavoured filling. Just deadly sweet sugar paste. The pastries of Stir and EL&N London is expensive too. But they have more fillings, less sweetness and tastes more obvious. Quite underwhelmed by the performance. As it provides the most expensive pastries in Cambridge. But still, the staff provided good service. They were very patient employees.

Can't comment on the coffee, as after being ignored for the second time, I took my business elsewhere. Perhaps it was my invisible cloak that prevented the staff from seeing me??? Visited Cambridge for a day and this was our first stop! The cafe was pretty small and a queue quickly gathered with only one lady working taking the orders and making the drinks. She explained there’d be a ten minute wait while she caught up with making the drinks, we waited and it was definitely worth it! The hot chocolate was so creamy and tasty. If I’m in the area I’ll definitely be back for a hot chocolate! The branding and the cafe itself is lovely too. I just felt sorry for the lady who was managing the cafe by herself, but she was still so polite, friendly and apologetic for the wait. Amazing customer service even when she was under pressure 👏🏻

A Cambridge classic that’s fallen from grace - Tatler effect/resting on their laurels, one can say. Very loud music and cramped space—want a subdural hematoma and ready to be actively discriminated against since you’re above 5’3? Try using their inaccessible loos! Pastries are mediocre — guess what, you’re in Paddington station in London for the expected prices. Sorry did I say loud music yet? Best oat flat white I think I’ve ever had. I’ll dream about this coffee. No sugar needed. Comes in a very small cup so feels doable to have a second coffee after (or before if journeying into Cambridge). Cost: £4.30 I read the baristas are trained for 6months and if that’s true, it shows. It also took a few minutes for it to come out, they really take their time. I lovvvve the vibes here. Inside has a chill, indie, boho feel with candles, sanded wood furniture, and beautiful art and oil paintings. I took my coffee to go but this is a great atmosphere to dine in and make art, write, journal, be creative. Cant wait to come back! I also want to try the potion, their take on a non caffeinated chai latte. And maybe a pastry.

All of the coffees that came out looked incredible - super clean latte art which tells me they know what they’re doing! I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk (an industry standard) and my coffee didn’t look appetizing at all (see picture). The first one I send back because it was boiling hot, which tells me they overheated the oat milk. I asked for another one, which they kindly gave, which looked the exact same. The coffee itself wasn’t bad but didn’t taste interesting or even had a distinctive flavor profile. I think as a barista you should be able to properly steam and pour oat milk, but I give 3 starts because all the other (cow milk) coffees that came out looked a lot better

We had a flat white and an iced latte, both of which were incredible and just the way we liked them. However, I noticed small flies flying around the shop. We initially planned to sit downstairs, but the number of flies was too much for me, so we moved upstairs. We ate half of a croissant and then realized there was a fly on it. We informed the staff, and the staff member apologized and offered us another pastry or coffee. We opted for the coffee. She handled the situation with kindness, which we appreciated. However, I felt that if there were a significant number of flies around the shop, something should have been done about it. The photo I posted of a wall with flies was taken upstairs, where the situation wasn't as bad, but imagine five times more of these in a smaller space while you're trying to enjoy your coffee downstairs. It's not exactly pleasant. Lastly, there were four ladies working downstairs. They weren’t very busy, yet no one cleared the dirty cups and plates on our table from the previous customers until our coffees arrived.

If this is Cambridge’s best coffee shop, then poor Cambridge. Called in to buy some ground espresso coffee. There were only two choices of beans and I chose Hard Lines coffee. The girl serving was quite grumpy throughout the transaction and I made the mistake of asking her if they used a burr grinder. She didn’t know what that was, which surprised me. The hard lines coffee was £15 per 250g, so not at the cheap end of the spectrum. Tried the coffee when we got home and we have agreed as a family, it’s the worst coffee we’ve tasted. So, Bould Brothers is not great for service, staff knowledge or coffee quality. So, I really can’t understand how it gets good feedback at all.

I had a great visit to Foy Cafe! The sourdough tasted incredibly fresh, and the overall quality definitely stood out. I was impressed that the order was delivered in just 15 minutes. Super convenient, encountering how busy they are. The highlight is definitely the location, right in front of the river, offering beautiful views that make the whole experience even more relaxing. On top of that, the waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming, always smiling and ready to help. It really made the visit feel warm and pleasant. Highly recommend for a casual bite with a view!

Could be my favourite bakery in town. Definitely try the Nata. The savoury bakes are amazing too, especially the beef one. The Portuguese doughnut is excellent as well.

I was quite disappointed with my experience at Café Cam Town. Unfortunately, I was charged twice on my card, which already raised concerns about reliability. I ordered a chicken and cheese sandwich expecting something simple but at least toasted, with melted cheese. Instead, it came on plain, untoasted bread with cold cheese. I asked if I could change it for a baguette instead, fully happy to pay the difference. At first, the staff refused, but after I insisted and offered to pay, they agreed—only to charge me again without properly resolving the issue. The whole experience felt unprofessional and left me disappointed. Maybe other dishes are worth trying, but based on this visit, I’m not sure I’d return.
