Bould Brothers Coffee in Cambridge

The coffee was fine, but a friend of a worker or maybe the owner pushed in line, and when I confronted them, they claimed they were not a customer only to walk off with a coffee before we were even asked for our order. Waited for over 15 minutes because of this.

This is a really aesthetically pleasing cafe, it's a great place to work, staff are extremely friendly and I'm not really into coffee but I've been told by friends that the coffee is actually good too! What's there not to love, I wish they were open 24/7 but maybe that wouldn't be good for my bank account

Absolute dinky gem of a place in Cambridge! Flat white tasted absolutely gorgeous. They have a special drink called The Potion which js a take on Chai latte with Rooibos not black tea which was divine ☺️ Would 100% recommend the pain au pistachio 👍 Personally, the highlights of this place were the art decorations + the choice of music and the ladies who served us amazing coffee. Thank you both!!! ❤️

I can only recommend the Bould Brothers Cafe. Absolutely cute coffeeshop in a small narrow house. The coffee was very tasty, only the steaming of the oat milk didn't work properly (pictured) and could be improved. On the other hand, the cow's milk flat white was delicious and the cinnamon bun tasted great as well. You don't really expect it, but the second floor is a great place to sit and it's not as crowded as the first floor, which I found very pleasant. The two girls at the counter were very relaxed and courteous. Keep up the good work!

I was walking and always wondering its small have 2 floors , luckily i found a place and tried it can understand why its crowded , mostly i have 3-4 coffees a day for me i can tell it can be one of the best in Cambridge , i had Flat White and enjoyed it was great

This is simply the best coffee in Cambridge - nothing to add on that, just the best! Pastries and sandwiches are available. I love both of their locations: the one near the Round Church and St. John's College for the views and the one in Regent Street for the ambience of the place itself.

Certainly one of the best coffshops in Cambridge. Good quality coffee and excellent latte art, however my flat white was a little weak, not sure if due to the recipe or not dialling in correctly, it was a Sunday morning at around 11am. Pastry was delicious, service and atmosphere excellent.

This place is so warm and cosy. Coffee is so great. I love flat white and latte there. They have upstares facility to sit & have coffee.

Much smaller than the other shop (literally only six chairs) downstairs, but same wonderful coffee. The Indian beans are such a surprise— rich, creamy latte with chocolaty, caramel, and nutty flavors. I haven’t tried beans from this region before and would be interested to taste more rare finds :) — Lovely piccolo with deep aroma. Really appreciate the art in this tiny cup. The baristas are super friendly despite the busy orders.

I have come here on two occasions. Both times I had the white hot chocolate, which is sublime.

My favorite cafe in Cambridge! I almost forgot the exchange rate and spent all the money on their coffee. I’m addicted…but their coffee is worth the price.. FYI they have cozy upstairs, but there is no wifi for now.

I really don't recommend 'the potion' , it's a very expensive small chai latte, I was hoping that it would be very tasty as it's from bould brothers but it tastes very similar to the powdered chai latte you can get from the super market

Creative and tasty coffee and tea selections with delicious pastry offerings. Counter seating inside and a few tables outside. Nice place to stop for a brew while touring historic Cambridge.

It would be nicer if people who work here chat with each other less and more focus on serving faster!

Oat latte was horrible. Ordered a blueberry vegan bakewell which was supposed to be dairy free and had a flare up. Sat outside and it smelled of sewage. All of this and still had to pay over £8.

The coffee at Bould Brothers is very consistent, which would be good if you like their coffee. Personally I find it much too acidic with an almost fruity vegetable flavour. The decor in both their cafes is quite grotesque and discordant which also makes the overall experience a little distasteful. The staff are however very friendly, and the pastries are good!

Thoughtfully decorated. Super quality coffee. Tables upstairs. I have not tried the pastries, but they look lovely. Friendly, professional service.

Tiny and very cosy coffee shop Staff were so welcoming as you walked in, this alone brings a smile to your face and that is not easy to find these days Seated upstairs in a tiny space, seats and tables close but we didn’t mind if you do want your own space maybe not the place for you but if you are social it’s perfect Coffee was excellent and pastries even better Thank you to all the staff it was a pleasure to visit today

This tiny cafe is incredibly popular and a bit of a squeeze!! Fab coffee and pastries and the staff were friendly and helpful. We managed to find seats at the window bar and they have 2 outside tables. A very popular destination - people queuing and willing to wait.

From the moment I walked in, the beaming smiles and welcome I received made me feel at ease immediately. I was expecting slightly pretentious ‘artisan’ arrogance (its a UK top 50 coffee house featured in Tatler and Vogue) but what I got was a relaxed, warm and seemingly very genuine ‘hi there, how are you, how can I help’?…… So many places underestimate the power of this basic human kindness and customer service. Great coffee (goes without saying and the reviews don’t lie!) but the welcome is what really sold it to me.

I only drink decaffeinated coffee, having waited a long time to get served I was then informed their decaffeinated coffee grinder had broken so they had no decaffeinated coffee. I then consoled myself by buying a cinnamon roll for myself and an almond croissant for my wife- both pastries were as dry as a dog biscuit and were put in a nearby bin - with hindsight we should have fed them to pigeons so as not to waste them. To rub salt into the wound it’s extortionate and two dry pastries cost about £8. I shall never return.

Used to take out often but decided to stay despite arrogant staff coffee were not good one too bitter one too weak That’s it will not come back !

Great baristas and a darn fine latte. A magical find - I was in coffee heaven. This is the mana of bean brewing and if I lived in Cambridge I’d go to Bould Brothers every morning.

Small and very cozy little Coffee place with seating upstairs. The service was very nice and my coffee arrived quickly with beautiful latte art. It tested very smooth and good, but was a bit to weak for me personally. I paid 4.10£ for a cappuccino.

My experience working on a laptop in this coffee shop left me feeling uncomfortable. While the decor was quite nice and I enjoyed the delicious pain au pistachio croissant, it wasn't an ideal place for extended work sessions. The coffee, although tasty, came in small cups, and the lack of Wi-Fi was a downside. One major issue that stood out was the abundance of flies, with 50-100 of them buzzing around on the upstairs floor. This made it difficult to concentrate and was quite off-putting. Additionally, the small ceilings and the size of the toilet were not very accommodating. However, it's worth noting that the staff were actually very kind and sweet, which was a positive aspect of my visit. Overall, the coffee shop had its merits with good food and aesthetics, but the presence of numerous flies and some other inconveniences made it less than ideal for a productive work environment.

Excellent coffee, delicious croissant, and extremely friendly staff. Not to forget that this place is a little jewellery box in the middle of town.

One of the best coffee places in Cambridge! I always like to get their rebel milk flat whites! The pastries are always very tasty and fresh too! Highly recommend sitting upstairs by the window, it has a lovely view

Riding around Cambridge, stopped off at the swaggiest coffee shop in town, good coffee, outside benches with blankets, but the best thing is the warm friendly welcome from barista Megan. Remembers me each time as an infrequent visitor and has a polite chat, let me pay after I had second cup because I didn't want to lose my spot on the bench. The other young staff were also smiley and polite too.

Easily the best coffee in Cambridge, and possibly in the UK (we had many many disappointing coffees in the UK having come from Australia!). There is often a queue as all the locals buy here, a do all the Aussies and Kiwis! Also has some of the nicest staff in town and lovely cakes. Just be aware, it is a tiny cafe at the round church (which is worth a look around anyway!), with limited seating and hasn't had a functioning toilet for some time. Also, wish they were more eco friendly.

We came here with family who live in Cambridge... We love checking out the best coffee shops wherever we go so were excited and initially happy to ignore the high prices to try 'the best coffee in Cambridge'. We ordered two oat iced flat whites. I could barely taste the coffee (maybe I needed the triple shot offering), my partner just thought the coffee was a bit meh. £4.20 per drink is a bit shocking (even London is cheaper) for something so underwhelming. (Also 50p for a tiny amount of oatly, I know this is still quite common but come on, this needs to be reduced now to 20/30p max especially when your coffee is already over priced). We regret we forgot to bring our own cups (as did every other customer...is there no BYOC incentive?) Our drinks came out in large plastic ice latte cups (looked ridiculous not even half full plus wasteful, smaller regular coffee cups would have been fine, just a suggestion 😊 Just felt really underwhelmed overall sadly. I can say though that the staff are absolutely lovely, and a credit to the shop!!!

Chose this place based on the reviews and was disappointed. Coffee drinks were nothing special but super pricy and the place itself is tiny and we were even impolitely asked to wait outside for our drinks to get ready.

Coffee was sour. It tasted very average. There is no toilet in the cafeteria. Very disappointing for a supposedly the best coffee place in town.

Recently discovered Bould Brothers during my latest visit to Cambridge. The cafe had cozy vibes which I totally enjoyed. Got the Magic which is one of their specialties and really liked it. Would love to visit again next time!

We were advised to visit Bould Brothers Coffee and it was Wonderful. Nice location and very attractive coffee shop interior and there is also seating outside. The coffee is excellent and great friendly service. Would be a great place for breakfast and the food and pastries looked delicious. Fully Recommend and a great music set list as well.

An outstanding coffee shop. The coffee, food and service are all fabulous. It's everything you could ever want in a coffee shop and proves how good they can be. Why go to a terrible chain coffee shop when you have this absolute gem just around the corner? Very highly recommended.

The skinny latte was amazing. The coffee with an optimal temperature which I could drink right away. The texture was rich and smooth. It tasted a little sweet, which I loved it.

Small place and we were lucky to grab a seat outside when the sun came out. This is a great spot for people watching. Slow service inside. Table was inadequate to house the tea and cake when it eventually arrived. The young lady was very pleasant and doing her best but it was all very difficult. Cakes were dry and the tea was not hot.

Visited Cambridge for the day last week and saw this place was booming with popularity, so thought we would check it out. Staff were really really nice and the coffee was delicious! Recommend

I was in desperately need of the loo when I popped in, and was informed that it was necessary to buy before using the facilities. Totally understandable! So I purchased a cookie and was only then informed that the toilets were out of order. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Entirely ude and felt treated as almost inhuman. I will never return, capitalist greed strikes again…

Delicious coffee, friendly service, and a small amount of seats upstairs that was lovely and cosy. The attentive waitress even brought us some cucumber water just as we were finishing our coffees.

Irreplaceable coffee in the UK! I was a regular customer when I lived in Cambridge. The taste of the coffee, quality of the milk, and the creaminess after each sip were the same as I last had it 2 years ago. Really happy that Bould Brothers opened another branch in Regent Street and hope they further expand outside of Cambridge. Despite having 2 branches, it’s still crowded because that’s how popular and good their coffee is! Be prepared to queue! If not, have jt as take away. Bought a bag of their coffee beans on my previous visit and regretted not buying more bags! On their webpage, it’s been out of stock on their webpage during COVID or coming soon. Can’t wait for it to be available online.
