Delicious gelato and I’m not even a big ice gelato or ice cream person. Their flavors change daily and they are generous with their samples, though I only tried two. Next time I’d try 4 (they give you 2 on either end of a wooden spoon). Note that the flavors are different at the 2 locations in Cambridge! I got the sticky toffee pudding mini scoop (half scoop) for £1.80. It was like a sweet cream ice cream with bits of sticky toffee pudding. I LOVE that they do a mini scoop! It was the perfect amount for me. I might even do a mini scoop at each location in the same day because why not :)

Wow! Excellent ice cream with VERY unique flavours and combinations. Service was quick and easy, and despite the weekend evening rush, the line moves swiftly. Thus, you don't feel the wait. Was taken there by my sister while visiting here in London. It's worth the effort and time spent to get there. Given the flavours you would not be getting anywhere else!

Awesome gelato and super friendly young people running the shop. You can try samples of different flavours first and they really try and help find something you'll like (all flavours are great but I loved the yogurt flavour). Also a great price of £2.90 for a large scoop, which is great compared to London's tiny scoops selling at £5-6! 😁

Nothing wrong with the gelato but today the guy at the till seems really unfriendly. I asked if I can try two flavours and he only gave me one first, tried to charge me with the price of a full scoop while giving me a tiny scoop, and asked me to reuse the tasting stick for my ice cream. Any of these micro-aggressions may appear to be fine on its own but when it comes together my only assumption is that this shop is hiring staff that is an absolute racist and show no respect to their customers. I hope that actions can be taken and no more customer will suffer again from the same situation which ruined my mood for the entire day. And not to mention I have visited Jacks a thousand times before.

Tried there Ube, Dark Chocolate and Sea salt and friend tried Hazelnut scoops here. Ube was very light and not too sweet or overpowering. Dark Chocolate with salt was really salty as per my liking, glad had a Ube to pair it up with which helped to balance out the flavor. The Hazelnut was a winner. It was perfect. And we were lucky as there was no long queue for us, hardly 4 people ahead of us. but when we stepped out with our ice creams, there were already 10-12 people standing out side the shop.

Consistently amazing ice cream with hundreds of fun flavours and a menu that changes daily! The queues are long on hot days and weekends, but they often have four or five people serving and the queue moves quickly. Also you can spend your queue time planning your order - but beware, some flavours sell out! By the evening a few things from the printed menu may be gone, but they keep the inside menu on the wall up to date, and even add new things throughout the day! Cups and cones are the same price but they also sell cones dipped in chocolate for a bit extra - the chocolate layer is properly thick and delicious! They do granita in summer and hot chocolate in winter, but I’m all about the gelato. I’ve tried lots of flavours over the years - they have amazing standards like their signature dark chocolate and honeycomb if you like the basics, but I’ve often been shocked to enjoy unique things like passionfruit and basil! You can have up to 3 scoops in a cone/cup, or get half-sized ‘tiny scoops’ - I always get a ‘double tiny’ for 2 flavours with the size of one scoop, it costs 40p extra but is good if you’re indecisive! Top tip, you can ask for tasters which the friendly staff are happy to give you - they can put 2 on one stick to save the sticks! Also ask what the ‘secret flavour’ is everyday - it’s also on instagram. They have an online ordering system but I like to go in the shop because the staff are really knowledgeable and can talk you through the flavours so it’s a more fun experience (and doesn’t take much longer in my opinion). The shop is open till 11pm or midnight on Saturdays so great for post-dinner ice cream. Jack’s is a favourite amongst students, tourists and locals alike - it has been great to watch the business grow over the years to 2 shops now! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

I hate leaving bad reviews, but 2 stars and I'm being very generous. The ice cream (please, don't insult Italians saying "gelato") was bland and icy. Good gelato tastes exactly like the simple ingredient its made of and creamy, not this. This was more like cheap Tesco ice cream than anything resembling Italian gelato. Almost 5 quid for 2 scoops that I had a hard time finishing. Had I known, I wouldn't have had it even if they paid me the 5 quid. I feel scammed, to be honest.

If you are interested in a flavor that you are not sure about, you can ask the store clerk to let you try it. Don’t be afraid of embarrassment and just choose! If you see a strange flavor, you can take a bite and try it🥰 Most of the flavors will be sweet. If you can't eat sweets, be careful and choose pure chocolate or brownie flavors.

4.6⭐. We are international travelers. This Gelato is said to be a famous ice cream shop in Cambridge! Gelato means Italian ice cream. The space in the store is relatively small. When we visited on Friday afternoon, there were many people queuing up and it took about 10 to 20 minutes to wait. The entrance is relatively small. There are many flavors of ice cream, some of which you can’t seem to find in Taiwan. I chose double honey, which may be very sweet to some people (the picture is a friend’s hand), but I think it tastes pretty good. It tastes ice-cold and sticky. It's sticky, and according to a friend, the gelato he ate in Italy is better. A two-ball gelato costs £4.50. Two balls are obviously more cost-effective than one. The price is the same when it comes in biscuits and cups. Service part: We were confused about the items on the menu because one item contained two flavors. When we wanted to choose two flavors, we misunderstood that this item only counted as one flavor. Fortunately, the store The waiter patiently spoke to us in English slowly (perhaps he happened to encounter a word we had never heard of), and finally it became clear that he felt quite friendly to foreigners, even if there were a lot of people. This brings back great memories for me in Cambridge. 20240726

Sigh. This review has been years in the making. As I sit here after paying £4 for one scoop of almost acceptable ice cream in Edinburgh, I can’t help but reminisce about better ice cream… The worst part about Jack’s is that after eating it no other gelato/ice cream will ever bring you joy. I have since moved away from Cambridge to Scotland (where the frozen dessert situation is crying for help yet surprisingly expensive). Jack’s helped me and my children survive lockdown 2 (maybe it was 3, I don’t remember). But we went every day. One day it was 0 degrees (see picture). Never too cold for good gelato is what I’ve always told my children. They’ve always agreed. Jack’s Gelato sustained us in good times and in bad. It’s been a year since we left and we are still mourning the loss of a quick cycle to the world’s best gelato. Our personal favourites: Strawberries & Cream, Girton Apple, Honeycomb, any of the nut flavours (😍😍😍), Mango. There is no better ice cream anywhere.

Both flavors were quite vanilla - and I had thought I chose the most outlandish options. Perhaps they’re playing it safe…but rose nor whisky were particularly convincing or interesting. If I hadn’t detected the slightest bit of whisky and the hint of rose every few bites, I’d have thought they gave me vanilla (which is not on offer). Best to stick with more traditional, flavorful options… I guess. Sucks I paid extra for whisky only to taste very little. Expect small scoops - texture was immaculate. I was just hoping to actually taste the flavors I’d selected.

I lined up and saw the flavors. Half of them were vegan, so I was a little disappointed. Nonetheless, I decided to stay. When we got to the front, (surprisingly quickly for such a long line) we were immediately served quickly. We even got a sample of a unique flavor, Coconut & Pandan. Although it was a vegan flavor, the richness of flavor, along with its uniqueness, shocked me. I was amazed. When I got the gelato, the honeycomb was somehow able to top Coconut & Pandan. To be frank, I was extremely surprised. I had never enjoyed vegan things. It was a shock. I finished the gelato in less than 6 minutes. The scoops were extremely generous. The only regret I have is not getting a third scoop. Absolutely magnificent.

It wasn’t busy at all and managed to get served quickly. They offered some unique flavours. I was quite surprised they had a coconut & ube offering so I had to try that. I was also exposed to palets bretons for the first time as I didn’t know what it was. After tasting a sample of it, I was quite intrigued. The coconut & ube was nice, but very prominent coconut flavour and I didn’t taste so much of the ube. The palets breton had more of a subtle but yet sweet taste in contrast to the first flavour, a good combo of flavours. I liked the actual cookie pieces inside. Loved the chocolate coated cones But this only leaves me to actually get the actual cookies when I go to my Paris ventures. Total amounted to £6.30. Definitely worth coming back.

Gelato was mediocre for the price I paid, but it did taste pretty good on a hot spring day, service was okay

Mediocre texture compensated by adventurous combinations… That’s how you compete with the more traditional gelatos next doors and become a “must-go” hot spot in Cambridge. Overpriced and touristy as it is, I might still have to invite visitors to try one scoop or half here and move on to the real gelato places. Again, interesting tastes but lacks the richness of proper gelato and the flavoring can be quite artificial. 202405 Lavender is slightly subtler than expected but not too artificial. Baked milk tastes like milk. My friend said masala cake tastes like birthday cake. The salted Oreo ends up being the less boring but still nice choice. 4: Both sea salt dark chocolate and damson cherry are rather flavorless today. 3rd try: ube coconut & dark chocolate gochujang —- Roast peanut butter was sold out. I was courageous enough to get the maple bacon (after trying). Savory ice cream works! Bacon flavor melted in my mouth, and then the maple came up. Interesting. —— Salted Oreo isn’t really salty. More like ordinary cookie and cream. The honey comb is surprisingly nice. I usually go for more intense dark chocolate or coffee flavors, but this one is actually good enough for me to go for white ones. Much much better than vanilla (which I don’t like). Milky with crispy sweet crystals. Heard miso is also tasty. I’ll be more adventurous next time.

Visited this popular and highly recommended gelato shop where I had to queue for about 5-10 minutes. They offered 5-7 flavors; I tried the double chocolate, which, while enjoyable, felt pretty standard. Next time, I plan to explore some of their more unique offerings to see if they live up to the hype.

Really nice ice cream, even the vegan ice cream was super tasty (dark chocolate and sea salt). They had some funky flavours

Amazing ice cream. Well worth the wait in the queue. Open late as well, which is a bonus.

Not great icecream it was very icey rather then creamy. Flavours were bland, and didn't taste of much. Large queue but fast service. Friendly and chatty. Wouldn't go again as wasn't impressed with the ice cream.

Ripper little coffee shop. Delightful service and tasty pastry. Pretty decent coffee, too. Keen to get back, time and geopolitics permitting. Strong latte, piccolo and Oat Chai. From Melbourne, Oz
