A special & hidden gem cocktail bar of Mill Road I have been here a few times already mainly for special occasions like birthdays and going on a date. What a nice gem 💎 of Mill Road—-great cocktails 🍹 and service. However the place is a bit small and always busy around weekend so you need to be aware of that. Not sure if they will let you book a table during the weekend though. I highly recommend it to everyone who like cocktails 🍹 Feedback/suggestions: A cocktail menu need to be refurbished though. It is hard to read and the paper is almost disintegrated…

Great place, super vibe and staff. The food is really good and reasonably priced. The cocktails are the best in Cambridge by a mile.

The menu is difficult to read, but the cocktails are excellent. Indoor seating is very noisy, but the outdoor tables are wonderful. Great atmosphere, and well-crafted cocktails. (Warning: the place can get crowded.)

Lovely staff, drinks and location

It's a great experience. The bosses are very kind in their service. The price of the meals is much more friendly than the surrounding restaurants, which will make people want to keep coming!

Delicious cocktails and a fantastic charcuterie board! The atmosphere was great, we were well looked after and they have an abundance of cocktails to choose from. We tried a negroni and raspberry caipirinha which were both very nice. The charcuterie board took a while to arrive but was absolutely worth the wait. We had another reservation to get to and they were very understanding in speeding it up. Would definitely recommend! Cozy intimate friendly vibes

Have been there for several occasions over the years. Expensive, but you will know where your moneys gone! Good cocktail menu, with friendly and knowledgeable staff, especially Kenny! Do read and check the menu carefully, my Zombie was served with Sambucca in it which wasn't on their listed ingredients at the time - Drink was readily and happily replaced immediately. Very cosy and dim inside, choice of outside seating on Mill road, but close to the road.

Very cool cocktail bar - loved the variety and novelty of their cocktail menu. Service was attentive and vibe is moody, flirty, fun and hip.

Delicious cocktails in an intimate environment. The drinks are strong and the staff is lovely to interact with. It can get quite busy in the evenings with limited seating, so I would recommend coming early.

Over the last years unfortunately the quality has decreased, this place is still successful only because does have no competitors. 2 out of 3 cocktails I ordered were really unbalanced: you need to put an effort to make a wrong old fashion. The menus are the same of 3 years ago, overridden with some paper patches stained and dirty, it makes difficult to read properly the cocktail list and their prices. We ordered some nibbles, paid 6£ for a 3 cm slice of Tesco’s tortillas and 12£ for a plate of charcuterie where the chorizo and salami were so thin u could see through. The waiter spilled twice the cocktails over the table and on my bag, he didn’t even dry and clean after the mess but we were charged 10% service.

Great atmosphere, the service was impeccable. And of course the drinks never disappoint. Would highly recommend

Great cocktails and venue. Having said that, two cocktails each and then being charged £5 service for bringing the drinks one metre away? When they’re already £12 a drink? Pay the staff properly. Not out of tips.

Take no notice of previous poor reviews....these are seriously good cocktails with plenty of alcoholic content weaved expertly into other ingredients. We had a couple of Premium Mojitos and Strawberry Daiquiris that were top drawer! Gi and enjoy@ JC

A great little speakeasy vibe cocktail bar. The cocktails are really well made! Would recommend this place to anyone. Indoor and outdoor seating (with heat lamps).

Amazing cocktails and great service

Over the past few years the quality of the cocktails has decreased and the price has increased. The cocktails used to be a lot better unfortunately. Perhaps the bar tender who originally made the delicious cocktails that differentiated this bar from the others no longer works there.

Good cocktails, likely atmosphere. Relaxed outdoor seating area on Mill Rd. Ideal for after work drinks etc. On the pricier side.

We will definitely visit again . This is a lovely little quaint cocktail bar servicing lots of cocktails and tapas. All of the staff were lovely and had great recommendations. It's tiny though so get there as soon as it opens or you won't get a seat.

Lovely cocktails! Great classics but also some fab specialities, including with fresh fruit. Try the guanabana! Darren and Roger had some great recommendations.

Des cocktails originaux et parfaitement exécutés (goûts subtils et parfaitement dosés). Les places sont limitées - surtout en hiver ! La carte est très longue mais malheureusement manuscrite et non classée par alcool ce qui faciliterait le choix.

So many cocktails to choose from, and they’re all consistently great. Nice ambiance too, and don’t forget to try the food.

Absolutely loved our cocktails at 196. I had a Caipirinha which had the perfect amount of lime and reminded me of the caipirinhas I’ve drunk in Portugal in the little alleyway bars. And the Margherita that followed (I got the premium one) was delicious! Loved the handwritten menu - it added to the sense of personal touch and real personality of the bar. Really friendly staff too. Would definitely recommend!

I had an amazing service at the bar. Our bartenders and servers, Kira and Emily, were very kind and helpful. They accommodated our every request and made some wonderful drinks and drink suggestions. I would highly recommend this place and their staff. Good place to go to!!

Waitress was so rude for absolutely no reason. Drinks were nice. Small and cramped room with 0 light. Wouldn’t go again. Definitely not anything special.

Jaisisco disco was amazing. Lovely staff. Even re-made a cocktail that we ordered before our friend arrived because the ice would have melted too much (was totally our fault). Menu is insane and such good quality. Definitely coming again. Thank you

Delicious cocktails in an intimate space (if sat indoors). There is outdoor seating with heaters when it’s chilly. The Sazerac is a fave but friendly staff will also make non-alcoholic cocktails for those who don’t drink.

Don't reccomend if you need glasses. Light is very dark, we had to get our phone torches out to see the menu and the unclear writing style just gave me a heache as a strain my eyes to try to order. Very small and I was shocked that they did not take covid regulations seriously!! No masks on the staff and no social distancing (I could feel the persons next to me breath🤢) . Made me feel really anxious and uncomfortable Luckly the waitress gave me a concised recommendation. But when I tasted it was unbelievably sour it made me sick and when they redid it to make it less sour it was way too sweet and sickly. Worse experience I've ever had and made me sorely ill and upset and for the £10 bill for each drink definitely would not reccomend!!

196 is a small, cosy and intimate bar with a relaxed vibe. The menu is vast with a huge selection of cocktails. The few we tried were made very well, with the perfect balance of alcohol and mixers. The staff are well educated on the menu and gave us some great recommendations. This is a great find in Cambridge and would highly recommend it to anyone!

First time here and gosh, what a treat. Sipping amazing cocktails at tables on the pavement, on a balmy autumn evening, I could forgive myself for thinking we were in Paris or Rome. But we were on Mill Road, Cambridge. Passion fruit daquiri, raspberry caipirinha, corn 'n oil and negroni were the names of the four delicious drinks we happened to have, but I reckon anything else on the menu would have tasted just as good. Lovely staff, too.

Our hotel recommended this cocktail bar to us and I have to say we loved everything about it! Incredible staff, brilliant playlist and fabulous cocktails! We tried 6-8 different cocktails from the menu and loved them all😊 we were lucky enough to sit at the bar and enjoyed watching the team doing cocktails. Can't wait to come back to Cambridge to go back to this bar

Lovely little find. However, a little pricey £9/9.50 per cocktail, think it could be a little cheaper.... Best pina colada I have ever had, felt guenuinly sad when I had finished it. Would definitely go again!

Great cocktails, very lively bar. They really do need a new menu style though, it's hand written and I could not make out half the ingredients (that's before I started drinking!).

So pleased to be back at 196 Cocktail Bar after a year’s enforced absence! The team are excellent hosts and the Old Fashioned is superb….and that’s before I get onto the amazing smoked mackerel pate! Very highly recommended

Travelled around the world bar hopping and this is still one of the best places to get amazing cocktails! Fantastic selection and fresh ingredients, love it here!

Had a great time at this cocktail bar even though everything closes at 10pm atm :( Staff was really friendly and cocktails arrived quickly. Some of the cocktails were VERY strong, but I personally prefer them that way. I’m sure staff would be more than happy to recommend drinks that aren’t as strong or make the drinks less strong if you’re not a fan. The only thing - I think this bar would benefit from an online booking service, even though bookings aren’t actually required to visit - just because it is very small and cosy and I get quite anxious calling people’s personal numbers to make a reservation.

Been here twice for cocktails, great little place. Both times staff touched the drinking part of my glass (and their finger went in my cocktail) when serving me my drink - which during COVID-19 times I was not happy about!
