The best restaurants in Broadland East of England

Can't claim to be a staunch regular, but I have used Ali Spice as a takeaway about once every 2 months since it opened in 2010. Food and feeling of being a valued customer has always been exemplary. Up to my last two dishes, my go to was always a chicken balti, a 2 chilli spice rating, the last one I had from Ali's was so spicy it was on the verge of being inedible, ah well just a one off, i fancied a curry last night and found I could not face ordering my old faithful balti, i ordered a tikka massala and was told 20 mins to collect, i arrived in the prescribed time and drove 10 minutes home to find the dishes i ordered were just about warm, fine i could heat up in a microwave, but i have never had to do this before, something has changed lately at Ali spice, and i don't just mean the prices! Unfortunately I will be going elsewhere for my curry from now on.

Stayed a couple nights for a family avent. Room was nice comfortable bed but needs a little tlc slight dust problem. Some friendly staff but most were rude or just blanked you. We had use of the function room where all our meals where served as not welcomed in restaurant very slow delayed service. Food was inconsistent first b.fast slice b.pudding 2 hash.b small dish b.beans eggs one poached perfect one undercooked toast and butter. Last breakfast half slice black.p over cooked bacon and eggs cheap marg in little dish with toast. Roast dinner was a total let down and dessert wast burnt. NO NEED OF OWNER TO TELL ME IM NOT WELCOME AGAIN which seems to to be the way he deals with negative feedback. AS I WONT BE BACK.

This was my first time here and defo not my last. Really great experience. Kelly was our waitress and she done amazing made us feel welcome and handled difficult situations with class. Definitely will be back.

Staff very friendly,but whole location needs an update

We stopped for lunch on a lovely sunny day so we were able to sit outside overlooking the attractive town centre. We both ordered rolls, a Ham and Salad roll and a Goats Cheese with Red Onion Marmalade roll, both served in Brioche rolls. Both rolls were delicious along with good Cappuccinos. There was also a tempting selection of cakes to which we succumbed. A chocolate brownie and a cinnamon doughnut ring, which frankly was probably the best doughnut ever tasted and bought couple more to take away. Staff very friendly and helpful. A delightful place to sit whilst enjoying lunch. Only downside was pricy at over £4 per roll and doughnuts were almost £2 each. Still bought 2 to take away though as were so delicious.

Sólo queríamos una bolsa de patatas fritas. Pregunté sobre el horario de apertura, ya que íbamos a navegar por la ciudad primero y luego volver a comer. La señora dijo algo sobre cerrar a las 3: ¿30 durante media hora y luego a las 7? Bien confuso. En lugar de preguntar de nuevo decidimos conseguir las fichas ahora. No tenían nada, así que tuvimos que esperar 10 minutos. La señora puso la bandeja de patatas fritas en el mostrador junto a la sal y el vinagre. Una señora diferente, creo que fue la esposa/pareja de los propietarios, simplemente se interpuso en el camino. Empujé mi camino hacia el mostrador y sazone las papas fritas. La puerta estaba llena de varias personas que tenían algo que ver con la tienda de chips. La señora detrás del mostrador le decía a la mujer en el camino: '¿Puedo hablar?'. Era muy poco profesional, era como si no estuviéramos allí. Nos fuimos y decidimos sentarnos en la zona junto a la tienda. Nos sentamos en un banco cerca de la carretera, pero era demasiado ruidoso, así que pasamos a una mesa cerca del río. Tan pronto como nos sentamos tres muchachos comenzaron a correr persiguiendo a las gaviotas. No les importaba quién estaba sentado en las mesas, solo gritaban y corrían como locos. Entonces uno de los muchachos comenzó a lanzar puñados de piedras a los pájaros. Una vez más, no les importaba a quién molestaban o a quién/qué podían golpear con las piedras. Había bastante gente alrededor y barcos en el río. No parecía haber ninguna supervisión de adultos. Decidimos dejar la zona e ir a dar un paseo tranquilo con nuestras patatas fritas. Cuando nos fuimos vimos a los chicos siendo atrapados por, supongo, el dueño de la tienda de chips. Llevaba un delantal con el logo de la tienda de patatas fritas. Estoy aturdido por el comportamiento de estos niños y la falta de supervisión / disciplina. La próxima vez, a pesar de que las patatas fritas son agradables, nos iremos a otro lugar.

My wife and I visited for Sunday lunch as part of a family group of six. The restaurant was really busy, but nevertheless we were shown to our table by a lovely woman, who arranged for our drink orders to be taken. We chose our main dishes, no one wanting to partake in a starter and sat and chatted. In what seemed to be the blink of an eye, our food was delivered! Three of us had roasts, one had tuna, one had halibut and the sixth had Cromer crab. Well, I have eaten in many a fine restaurant, but to say the food was excellent is just not enough! Our roasts were not only superb tasting, but the portion sizes were huge! All three of the family who had fish dishes sang their praises also. I don’t often say this, but I couldn’t finish my meal, likewise several others of the group. Doggie bags all around?! Anyway, desserts were off the radar and we paid up and left, completely stuffed. The staff were really attentive throughout our meal, ensuring we had everything we wanted. They chased up drink refills without us needing to call them over. The overall bill was around £170, but this included all of our drinks, which we felt was reasonable…not cheap, but reflected the quality and quantity of our meals. The only downside that we could find was that we could only book the table for a maximum of two hours. We would have liked longer to sit and chat, but based on the number of clients coming and going, I suppose this is not unreasonable.

What a load of slop. Never in 49 yrs of eating Indian food have I had this absolutely terrible slop. They have no idea of what a curry is . Stay at home and cook it yourself or please go elsewhere and dave your life

Really welcoming on arrival and shown to our booked table. We both had the Sunday Carvery great choice of meat and vegetables alongside some amazing Yorkshire puddings. Followed by very nice desserts. The service was very good and it was nice to go and eat out where there seemed enough staff to cope with the busy restaurant without running around not being able to cope which you often see these days. Good value and will certainly be going back.
